Review – Missionary Position by Daisy Prescott
Selah Elmore is a smart, independent woman who knows exactly who she is and what she wants. She loves her life being a professor and popular pirate erotica author. However, when she leaves the Pacific Northwest to spend six mont
hs studying sculpture in West Africa, she learns she doesn’t know a thing about love.
Cocky, suit-wearing Gerhard charms her during a stopover in Amsterdam, but dashing, adventurous Kai sweeps her off her feet in Ghana.
Sparks fly on three continents when perpetually single Selah discovers there’s more to love and life than she ever imagined
If you’ve read any Daisy Prescott books, you’ll know her writing is a refreshing change from the plethora of New and Young Adult books out there. Her stories are about women who are mature, comfortable in their own skins, and able to stand on their own two feet. Career-focused, they don’t wait for a man to define them. Love, for them is the icing on top of a complex, layered cake.
(And if you haven’t read any Daisy Prescott books, what are you waiting for? Geoducks are for Lovers and Ready to Fall are available now from all good booksellers.)
Selah Elmore isn’t the shy and retiring type. She’s a woman who takes control of her life, her career and her sexuality. Having long since decided that a relationship isn’t for her, it doesn’t stop her from having the occasional dalliance and one night stand.
All that seems to change when she meets Gerhard, a Dutch businessman who is totally not her type. Yet, somehow, they click.
Fast forward a few weeks, and Selah is working at a museum in Ghana as part of a year in Africa. ‘Adopted’ by the owner of the hotel she stays in, she soon makes an eclectic group of friends who—in spite of their different backgrounds—look after each other in the sweetest of ways.
And then she meets Kai…
I don’t want to give too much away about the story by telling you how the romance plays out. Suffice it to say it is sweet and sexy, a journey for both Selah and Kai. During the struggles they face, they learn that no man is an island. Each has to learn that a relationship requires both give and take.
I loved that Selah was refreshingly strong. She was a heroine who took no nonsense, was occasionally abrasive, but still had a soft, sweet core. If you’re looking for an innocent, Mary-Jane ingénue, you’re in the wrong place. Selah doesn’t have time for that sort of nonsense!
As for Kai, well, he was just dreamy. Masculine and strong, he was a great foil to Selah’s brashness. And as the story went on, we learned that he, too, had a softer side. One that made me pretty much want to swoon!
It wasn’t only the characters who made me fall in love with this book. The locations that Selah visits are so vividly described that I felt I was right there with them. Stories of African food and drink, of trips to see monkeys and elephants, of beautiful scenery that took my breath away—were like a third character in this relationship.
Although set in the same world as Geoducks and Ready to Fall, with many shared characters, Missionary Position can be read as a stand alone romance. There are no cliff hangers, just a beautiful love story you’ll want to read over and over again.
Five beautiful stars.

Into the New
This has been a week to learn new things. Sometimes they can be scary. Sometimes they can be amazing. But always, they expand horizons, keep me on my toes and ensure I never get bored.
New Thing Number One

I am being published in Brazil. This is so amazing to me. I’m more than excited to see my words translated into the beautiful Portuguese language, and can’t wait to hold that book in my hands. My lovely editor from Universo Dos Livros is already working on the translation, and we are hoping for a release date some time in the fall.
New Thing Number Two

New Thing Number Three

So there you have it. You can teach an old dog new tricks, particularly if they involve books. Have a fabulous weekend everybody. I’m off to a party tomorrow where, no doubt, I’ll learn a lot of new things ;)

Sharing some good news – a Brazilian Publisher for Fix You!
As the Brazilian publisher for books such as The Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Beautiful Bastard and Tangled, as well as the amazing new book Louca Por Voce by my lovely friend Andreia Leia, I’m so delighted to be part of Universo Dos Livros’ amazing catalogue of writers.
I’m also more than excited to see my words translated into Portugese, and on sale in Brazil. In fact, let’s have some champagne!
And since I never like to drink alone…
Flavia and Meire, who run the Bookcase Literary Agency, have been working so hard in selling the story, and I’m so pleased for all of us that we’ll get to see this hard work in paperback form. It was such a pleasure to meet with them at the London Book Fair in April, where we got to talk books, books and more books!

And in other–perhaps less exciting–news I’ve had the first feedback from pre-readers on my next book, ‘Coming Down’. Lots of great positive reviews, and some excellent suggestions to make it even better. I don’t have a confirmed date for releasing this one yet, but I’m so excited about this story, and can’t wait to share it with you. Sooner rather than later I hope!
So tonight I celebrate, and tomorrow I get back to editing. I’m so hyped up, I can’t wait!!
Have a great day, everyone!

Romance Weekly #LoveChatWrite #LoveWriteChat – 3rd June
Do you like to read romance novels? Wouldn’t you like to know more about your favorite authors? Well you came to the right place! Join the writers of Romance Weekly as we go behind the scenes of our books and tell all….. About our writing of course! Every week we’ll answer questions and after you’ve enjoyed the blog on this site we’ll direct you to another. So come back often for a thrilling ride! Tell your friends and feel free to ask us questions in the comment box.
This week’s questions are brought to you by Victoria Barbour
1. Have you always written romance?
Short answer: yes. Slightly longer and possibly more boring answer: when I was younger I wrote in all sorts of genres. But the stories never went anywhere, and I’ve never completed a novel in any other genre. I don’t know why this is, but for me, romance offers all sorts of possibilities. It isn’t just about love, it’s about people, relationships and how we try to battle every day life.
2. How do you deal with critiques about the romance genre?
I don’t! If people don’t like romance, that’s fine by me. The readers I have are fabulous, and more than enough to keep me going! As a reader I feel very lucky that there are so many different genres available to me, and if I don’t like a particular genre, that’s not a problem, there are thousands of other readers that absolutely love it. I look at romance the same way (except, of course, romance readers are the best!!)
3. What’s the one thing about the romance genre you’d like people to know?
It isn’t just about love. There are so many sub-genres – you just have to go and browse on Amazon to find that out. Romance doesn’t just span the spectrum from sweet to smutty, but also from romantic suspense to paranormal to historical. There are so many choices out there, you just have to know where to look. And if you don’t believe that romance can be well written and chock full of plot, you just need to go and read The Bronze Horseman or Gone With the Wind. In fact, I might just go and read them again!

When Carter is killed in combat, he leaves behind his heartbroken wife, Avery and his shattered best friend Remy. Naturally these two wounded souls gravitate together, irresistibly drawn by the loss of the one they both loved, as well as their deep friendship with each other. But when that friendship starts to turn into something more, new problems arise.

Will Remy be able to fill the void left by the loss of his best friend? Or will this new chance at love cost them all they have?

Jude lives in Montreal, Canada. She is the proud mother of a five year old son, and has spent the last twelve years with her partner, Cedric.
French is her native language, but she prefers to write in her second language, English.
Besides working full time in a law firm and being a mother, Jude has a passion for books, both reading and writing them.
She is currently working on Ophelia.

She got into her seat and drove us to I-didn’t-know-where-yet. The music was playing softly in the car. I was having difficulty with noises, they were making me irritable but the melody was nice so I was okay. We were getting closer to Avery’s house. At least I hoped we were going to her house, because I was frightened to be alone. I needed her, in more than one way. When she turned to the right, I knew we were going to her place because my house was over on the left. I bit the inside of my cheeks to subdue a smile. A few seconds later, Avery parked the car in her driveway. She undid my safety belt, then hers. She got out of the car to help me out, then grabbed my bag and arm-in-arm we walked to her door.
”Calm down, girl. I’m not dying, I’m okay. I can feel your body trembling.”
”I can’t calm down, Remy.” She unlocked the door and pushed it open. ”I lost Carter, okay? He’s gone,” she cried. ”And I came this close,” she showed me a tiny gap between her fingers, ”this close, to losing you too, and that tore me apart.” She put my bag on the table. ”When Megan told me what happened, I passed out, because I couldn’t believe I was going to have to go through this again. We waited twenty-four hours before we finally got the news that you were alive.”
I felt terrible. ”I’m sorry, girl, I’m so sorry.” I pulled her towards me and wrapped my arm around her. She cried and she sobbed against my t-shirt. Ave was in a terrible mess. ”I promised you I would come back, and I did.” I kissed her hair. ”I’m so sorry I had to come back in such a dramatic way.”
”You’re alive, Remy.” She almost never called me by my first name. ”It’s all that matters.”
”I know, Avery.”
We were silent for a moment, her sobs calming down and she regained control of herself. It broke my heart to see her like this, she’d seemed so strong at the hospital and I was just realizing it was a facade. In that instant, I knew we both needed rest and we both had a lot on our minds.
”I think I need to lay down, Ave, I’m getting a little dizzy. I’ll go to my room.” She squeezed me with all of her strength, one last time, before releasing me.
I got to the guest room. There was a bouquet of daisies on the night table. She’d changed the sheets and comforter on the bed for a navy blue one. I made it to the bed just in time, my vision had gone blurry. I sat on the corner of the bed and closed my eyes. The fact that she wanted me to stay here was great, but damn, this was fucked up. She still continued to ignore everything I’d said to her. It made me anxious and the best thing I could do was lie down and chill out. Being around her was even harder now. I put my arm over my eyes, to hide away from the light in the room. Turning it off required too much physical effort for now.
”Remy, are you okay?” Her voice was low.
”Can you turn the light off, please?”
She did and then removed my shoes. I shifted up on the bed and she placed my legs under the comforter. ”Do you feel any pain?”
”It’s not too bad, I can manage.” My head hurt constantly, no matter what I did. In my shoulder, the bullet had torn a muscle and damaged the bone severely. They had to screw the bone together in three different places. It would never be as strong as it used to be, but at least I was alive.
”Okay…” She stayed in the room looking at me. It had me confused, did she want to talk or something?
”Is everything OK, Ave?” I needed to know.
She nodded. ”It’s just good to have you here. I missed you.”
Okay, she was giving signs she wanted to talk, but I thought maybe she wasn’t ready just yet.
”I missed you too, girl.” I smiled.
She returned my smile with one of her own, she seemed suddenly shy and her cheeks flushed. ”I thought about what you said to me a lot. It scared me at first but then, I felt like I already knew about it. Things cleared up in my mind. How you were always looking after me, always making sure I was okay. I should have known, but I only had eyes for Carter. I still love and miss him every single day.” She took a deep breath and rubbed her eyes. ”But… I felt things were different prior to your deployment and I understand now. I didn’t hate it, I liked it. Being closer to you makes me feel better. I need it, but I can’t promise you more than that.”
”What are you saying, exactly, Avery?” I could feel a wave of tingles rush through my body. What did she mean? It was so out of character for her to be so shy.
”I’m saying I still love Carter, I probably always will, but I also like you and need to be around you. I can’t promise you anything, but we could try and see if it would work out.”
”I’m not a consolation prize, Avery.”

Excerpt
“What are we doing here?” Maya asked when we pulled up to my shop.
This date was about remembering our first meeting, for her to see how I truly felt.
Taking her face in my hands, I caressed her cheek with the tip of my fingers and leaned forward to ghost my lips over hers.
“Where did we meet, Maya?” I asked, then waited for her reaction. She didn’t disappoint.
A small smile overtook her face. “Here.”
“So where else would I want our first date to be?”
Maya giggled, confusing me. “This isn’t our first date, Talan.”
“No? Are you sure?” She nodded, still laughing at my confused state. “I don’t remember taking you—”
“Shush,” Maya placed her finger over my lips, “our first date happened right here a few months back. The same night we discussed your tattoos.”
“But you said . . .” I trailed off; this having a woman shit was confusing.
“I know what I said, Talan.” She sounded exasperated and all traces of humor left her features. “I asked to date, to make us official.”
“Why didn’t you just say so?” I grumbled while rubbing my temples.
“I did; you just heard what you wanted.” Bitty raised an eyebrow at me. “Now, feed me.”
“You drive me insane.” If I didn’t care for this woman, I would strangle her.
My words were met with another raised brow and a saucy smirk. “Then I’m doing something right.”
I laughed at her reply. What could I say to argue that logic? She had every right to act cocky at the moment. Bitty had me by the balls and knew it.
“Stay.” Turning off the engine of my truck, I unbuckled my seatbelt and got out of the car. Maya stayed inside, waiting on me. “Ready?”
She nodded.
I unbuckled her seatbelt, grabbed her by the waist, and helped her down. Her small frame slithered down my body, rubbing against my hardened cock.
“For you? Since we met.”
“Behave.” My warning was met with defiance.
Maya’s hands grabbed onto the front of my pants. She pulled me forward; my erect shaft nestled between our bodies, pushing against her stomach. “Feed me.”
“Hungry?” I grunted when her right hand dipped inside my waistband.
“Commando?” She moaned, ignoring my question. Maya ran the tip of her fingers around the slit, rubbing the liquid there over my swollen head. I shivered while watching, mesmerized, as she brought the glistening digits toward her lips and sucked.
“Maya, please. Let’s go eat. You have to be starving.”
“I am,” she whimpered, as my flavor danced over her tongue. Maya winked at me then shimmied once more against me. The head of my cock—now purple and swollen—peeked out from the waistband, searching for her touch.
“Quit fucking around, Bitty.” Growling under my breath, I tucked my dick back into my pants, much to her disappointment. It’d been torture not taking her, but it was getting worse than before. We were both so close to that moment and we knew it. “I ordered in.”
“Warned you; I’m hungry.” She ignored my statement and instead pulled me down to her level. Her eyes shone with emotion, deep and as pure as she was. “Don’t care about food.” Maya bit my lip, hard. “Feed me.”
“Fuck.” She killed my will, my need to show her I wanted more from her than just the sweet pussy between her thighs.
“First, food, and then for dessert, I’ll give you my cock,” I whispered—more a plea than a bargain—against her lips. She bit down once more and backed away, leaving my lip bruised and tingling.
“Tempting.” Bitty stepped back. “Convince me.”
“Okay.” I took a step forward and backed her into my truck, my fingers tangling in her hair. She opened her mouth to speak, but my finger over those succulent lips silenced her. “Quiet.”
Maya whined against my hold. My hips kept her in place, taunting her, I ground my hardened length against her.
“We’re going to enter my shop and enjoy all the hard work I’ve put into this date. Nod if you understand.” She did. “I want to enjoy you.” Bitty moaned at this, and swiveled her hips into me. “Feed you. Don’t take that away from me.” At those last words, a soft expression overtook her face and she stilled in my arms.
She sighed. “You win.”
“What was that?” I asked needing to hear her say it again.
“You win.” Maya smiled and pushed me back with a gentle shove. “I want it all. You, me, and this date . . . the small talk and flirting. Maybe even another orgasm at the end of the night?” She was too cute when showing her neediness.
“No more harassing me?” I gave her a playful smile.
“For now.” She winked then pushed me toward the front doors of my shop.
“Stop.” I turned to face her. Maya’s look was confused, but her confusion turned into that burning need I loved when she realized what I’d pulled from my pockets. “Turn around,” I demanded and she complied.
She did. No questions, just obedience. I could get used to that.
“I’m going to cover your eyes.” My words were met with a needy whimper. Maya pressed her body closer to mine. The heat coming off her skin seared me.
“How do you expect me to behave if—”
“Quiet. Not a word,” I whispered into her ear and laid a small kiss on her neck. “Just enjoy.” The small blindfold I’d pulled from my pocket dangled from my finger. Her eyes followed its movement.
I wanted her to see the words etched onto the silk fabric, the ones I’d chosen just for her: Marked.
It said everything I felt. Every one of my pores, every cell in my body wore her stamp—her mark. Now, she would wear mine.

but I soon learned the bad boy surfer had a reputation that preceded him and an image to uphold.
The sexual chemistry was unquestionable, our emotions irrational, but our love was undeniable. Together our pasts didn’t matter. Our different backgrounds were irrelevant. He made me feel his life wasn’t worth living
without me in it. He took my breath away and saved each one of them, owning me wholly.
Evan became my life, but with all the obstacles that stood in our way, could he become my future?
NOVELLA SUMMARY :

winning me over. Our lives are now set… or should have been. But nothing stays perfect forever and happiness comes with a price.
We’ve paid that price.
Sometimes we may not get the answers we seek, but we’ve learned to cherish the gifts we’ve been given. It doesn’t matter what life throws at us or takes away, we’ve found love and we will fight for what matters
most—family.
EXCERPT
A lighter appears in front of me. Without bothering to look up, I move forward into the fire. I try to ignore the ridiculously handsome guy as he tries to pick me up after sending his girlfriend away.
He’s unsettling and… confusing, and apparently doesn’t take a hint, so I make myself crystal clear. “Just so you know, your bullshit lines won’t work on me. Anyway, I’m sure there’s a fresh batch of girls about to land who are looking for that fling they will always remember and reflect upon fondly for the rest of their lives.”
The Hawaiian God’s heat emanates from beside me.
He’s too good looking.
He’s too close.
“Speaking of bullshit, a thank you would be nice,” he says, moving to stand in front of me.
“For what?” I ask.
“For the light.”
“Thank you,” I mumble, rolling my eyes and wishing my ride was here to save me from this situation.
“That didn’t sound sincere.”
“That’s because it wasn’t.” I tilt my head, take a long drag, and look up into his blue eyes. Yep, it’s official. He’s too good looking with bad intentions mixed in. That combination does all kinds of tingly things to me—good and bad.

Romance Weekly #LoveChatWrite – 20th May
Do you like to read romance novels? Wouldn’t you like to know more about your favorite authors? Well you came to the right place! Join the writers of Romance Weekly as we go behind the scenes of our books and tell all….. About our writing of course! Every week we’ll answer questions and after you’ve enjoyed the blog on this site we’ll direct you to another. So come back often for a thrilling ride! Tell your friends and feel free to ask us questions in the comment box.
This week’s questions are brought to you by Carolyn Spear.
1. If someone could observe you writing without you knowing they were there, what strange practices might they catch you doing?
I hate to think! I’m a real procrastinator. If I didn’t turn off the wifi, you’d probably find me checking Facebook, tweeting that I #amwriting, taking a look at a really pretty dress on a retail site and….
You get the idea!
So, when the wifi is turned off, you’ll probably find me sitting in bed (my favourite writing place) either with the laptop or my iPad. My latest work in progress was written entirely on the iPad using the on-screen keyboard (even though I have a separate one). The reason for this? It was the closest I could get to handwriting without giving myself cramp. I’m a touch typist, and can type faster than I think, which isn’t always good for the creative process. Using the iPad keyboard slowed me down, allowed me to think and–I think–created a better story.
You can bet your life I’ll be editing on the laptop though!
2. Other than a creative outlet, how does writing benefit you?
Well, there’s the house in Monte Carlo, the three Ferraris and the tiny island just off the coast of Brazil…
And when I’m not dreaming, I think it benefits me in a lot of ways. It gives me something for myself, other than work and my family. It’s allowed me to meet a group of wonderful fellow writers, who are so supportive it sometimes makes me want to cry. Even if I never published another book, I’d carry on writing anyway. I love the process way too much to stop.
3. How do you feed your muse?

Ooh, I’m not sure with this one. I read. A LOT. I also people watch, think ‘what if’ and generally day dream. The majority of my life is lived inside my head. I think for me, the key is to keep writing. If you have no ideas, write about a picture, a poem, the guy you saw yesterday playing a violin. It doesn’t matter what you write about, it’s the process that matters. Creativity is a muscle, it works best when stretched often!

Selah Elmore is a smart, independent woman who knows exactly who she is and what she wants. She loves her life being a professor of the human form and popular pirate erotica author. However, when she leaves the Pacific Northwest to spend six months studying sculpture in West Africa, she learns she doesn’t know a thing about love.
Cocky, suit-wearing Gerhard charms her during a stopover in Amsterdam, but dashing, adventurous Kai sweeps her off her feet in Ghana.
Sparks fly on three continents when perpetually single Selah discovers there’s more to love and life than she ever imagined.
Missionary Position is a standalone contemporary romance spin-off from Geoducks Are for Lovers. It isn’t necessary to read that novel or Ready to Fall prior to reading this.

Before writing funny contemporary romances about adults, I dreamed of being an author while doing a lot of other things. Antiques dealer, baker, blue ribbon pie-maker, fangirl, freelance writer, gardener, pet mom and wife are a few of the titles I’ve acquired along the way.
Born and raised in San Diego, my husband and I currently live in a real life Stars Hollow in the Boston suburbs with our dog, Hubbell, and an imaginary house goat.
