Feature Friday – Cursed Blood

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Welcome to Grimwood!

Sure, sure. It’s a little dangerous and you’ve got curses running wild and the forest is dying and things are a little shady, but WELCOME ANYWAY!

At the heart of all this craziness is the Grimm family. One tiny wish turned into a clusterfuck of epic proportions when the witch in the woods comes for payment. Five hundred years later, the Grimm family is scattered, the woods are rotting from within, and the legacy the family was supposed to uphold has all but been forgotten.

WHEW!

Yeah, the Grimms are a little messed up, but they find their way. Eventually.

Cursed Blood focuses on Zel, the tormented, silent man in the tower, who inadvertently takes the first steps in breaking the curse when he challenges the witch holding him captive and hooks up with his new boo.

Okay, that’s not exactly how it happened, but it’s pretty close.

Pretty darn close.

Enjoy this gender-flipped retelling of Rapunzel and your first steps into Grimwood.

Zel has lived his entire life within the confines of a square mile of the forest. The tower is his refuge. The witch, his captor. Forced to do her bidding, he dreams of a day when he can leave the cursed place and be free.

But fate has other plans and freedom can take many guises.

As a girl, Geneva devoured stories about the wild boy who lived at the highest point in the forest. A changeling, a prince, a forest spirit—all the tales tell a different story. Imagine her surprise when she stumbles across the cursed tower and the young man held prisoner there.

It’ll take all her cunning and courage to free him.

What she doesn’t know is that freeing him might doom them all.

Feature Friday – Possessed

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

What better way to celebrate Halloween than with shenanigans in a haunted house?

Let me introduce you to Char and Mal. Sure, sure, Mal’s not exactly a ghost, but he’s got come incorporeal sexiness going on part of the time and, well, Char likes that.

A LOT!

This book contains:

A sharp-tongued lady who isn’t exactly pleased with the ghostly roommate her new house came withA sexy man who isn’t quite a ghostSteamy after-bath times while one of them is mostly incorporealA little dangerA lot of heatMysterious messages written on mirrors and windows

Currently this is the only book in the When Worlds Collide series. …But these are fun to write and you never know what’s in the future.

Unless, you know, you’re some sort of supernatural critter who can see the future! Ha.

Seriously, though, I’ve always had plans to expand this series and I HAVE IDEAS!

Feature Friday – Forgotten Monsters: The Lost and Found Collection

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

No lie, my friends, one of the main reasons I like featuring this book is because the cover is one of my favorites. I mean…LOOK AT IT!

That said, this book is more than just the cover. It pulls together the four Forgotten Monsters stories into one convenient package. Convenience is nice, isn’t it?

(As an aside, the reason this collection became “The Lost and Found Collection” as opposed to “The Complete Series” is that I have A REALLY HARD TIME saying goodbye to my characters. I wanted to leave the door open to revisit them if a new set of stories started burbling up out of the swampland in my head. So, you know, the possibility for more stories set in this world is there. Now I just need to craft a little plot.)

Anywho. A Wisp, a Kraken, a Nightmare, and a Siren walk into a bar… just kidding. That doesn’t actually happen. ALTHOUGH IT COULD.

*laughs diabolically*

Feature Friday – Echo

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Thank and Zoe. The siren and the woman who can resist his lure.

Which, honestly, baffles Thane a bit since NO ONE can usually resist him.

One of my favorite literary settings is when two people are snowed in/stuck together for a protracted amount of time and are forced to *gasp* communicate. In this case, Thane and Zoe are neighbors in a converted house (nothing more than a wall between them!) and a winter storm has them working together to keep themselves and Zoe’s pets safe.

Sharing body heat is VERY important when the temperatures drop, AMIRITE?!?!?

Yeah, yeah, they talk also and figure out some important things along the way. But snowed in and forced to share body heat? OH YEAH.

When Thane Demarcos left home to travel the world, he never expected to end up stranded in a tiny mountain town so far from the water he can’t smell salt on the wind. For a Siren to be without the oceans close by is unheard of and he knows it’s only a matter of time before his family tracks him down to bring him home.

In the meantime, Thane’s stuck with a neighbor who takes in all the town’s strays and hardly remembers to care for herself. If Zoe Canton knew what was good for her, she’d stop spending all her money on dog food and start stocking up her pantry for the winter he can feel coming.

Fate being the tyrant she is, Thane and Zoe get unexpectedly snowed in and Thane finds himself grudgingly coming to understand the effervescent woman who cares too much. The more he learns about her, the more he comes to admire her.

Considering he’s bound to return to his watery home, this spells disaster for everyone.

Warning: This book contains a man who has exceptional allure and a woman who tries to live her life to the fullest. A round of drinks and karaoke for everyone. On the house.

Ahh, yes. The nightmare and his dreamer.

He’s ready to show the world what he can do and she’s simply drawn to the guy she sees in the coffee shop every so often. The downside? Cris has been practicing his craft on Garnet and that’s something she’s going to have to wrap her head around. I mean, how often does a regular human get to meet the man who dives into her dreams?

Come to think of it, Garnet doesn’t even know the supernatural world exists which makes meeting Cris a HUGE discovery.

The dreamer and the nightmare. Oh, yeah.

Cris Mara is tired of hiding his true self. This disillusioned nightmare is ready to show the humans what he can do with the abilities he’s been born with. At least he will be once he masters the skill to walk the nightmare plane at will, not just when night closes over his part of the world.

Garnet Douglas can’t stop dreaming about the man she sees in a coffee shop near her college. He’s dangerous and fascinating and his darkness calls to her in ways she can’t explain. When an unexpected encounter reveals that Garnet’s dreams aren’t as random as she thought, she has to decide whether she’s ready to believe in the world Cris is part of or if she’d rather keep her head buried in the metaphorical sand.

The world is teetering on the brink of a revelation and Cris and Garnet are only the beginning.

Warning: This book contains one surly nightmare who can’t quite keep from going off prematurely. If only he could find a lady who complemented his darkness he might be able to figure things out.

Feature Friday – Deep

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Ahh, yes. The kraken and the human. They don’t seem like they’d fit (literally, really), but they make it work.

Mikka was interesting to write. She was just sort of resigned to being found out and letting what will happen, happen. The closest I can come to describing her mindset is that she’s balancing on the edge of depression, and fighting for anything (even her own survival) feels too hard. Then she meets Lars and he gives her hope for a future and a real life.

As for Lars, he’s driven. He wants to protect the things that can’t protect themselves and keep them safe. As it turns out, sometimes the things that can’t protect themselves are massive sea creatures straight out of legend. Which isn’t to say Mikka didn’t have the ability for the aforementioned protection, but she had given up and…well, Lars isn’t down with that.

The kraken and the human. Oh, yeah!

As the world grows more technologically advanced, keeping herself hidden from the humans has become harder and harder for Mikka, one of the last krakens left in the great oceans. Weary of fighting and clearly seeing the writing on the wall, she’s ready to reveal herself and let the humans do as they will.

Amateur oceanologist Lars Lund is certain there’s a secret hidden in the saltwater cove near his isolated home. If he can figure out what it is, he can find a way to keep it protected. And maybe the lonely song he hears night after night will finally stop haunting him.

Mikka and Lars are on a collision path that will rock both their worlds. She’s a monster out of legend and he’s a man who doesn’t quite fit into the human world. Together, they might just find a happily ever after.

Warning: This book contains a monster of epic proportions and a man who sees more than he lets on. No tentacles were harmed in the writing of this book.

Feature Friday – Wisp

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Aww, yes. I’m looking back on cranky Will and his witchy honey Kaitlin today and AHAHAHAHA. Will, the Wisp. He’s one grumpy glowing dude, isn’t he? And Kaitlin’s not down for his grumbling. She pushes and gets in his face and OH THE SPARKS!

Will and Kaitlin’s story kind of opened the mental door for me in regards to different types of supernaturals. I mean, if this world has witches, what else might be out there that’s not strictly monstrous? Gods or something, right?

Oh, wait.

Seriously, though. I hadn’t played around with the idea of witches before these two, but Kaitlin being a witch and wisps being drawn to witches worked nicely. Plus, Mr. Grump and his Nope-Not-Taking-Your-Shit lady friend made me laugh.

Living on the outskirts of society suits Will Quinn just fine. He’s one of the last of his kind and he’s grown weary of being the boogie man to the humans who dare each other to check out his presumably haunted cabin.

When a small group of humans from the local college show up to interrupt his solitude, Will is determined to run them off. He never expects a pretty coed to see right through his glamour to the heart of the man beneath.

With tensions rising in the monstrous community and the danger of being revealed an ever-present threat, Will must make a choice: Guard the secret of what he is or let the spark that is smoldering between him and Kaitlin become a full-fledged burn.

Warning: This book contains a man who’s much more than a Wisp. Not all monsters are created equal and Kaitlin’s about to get the type of education she never dreamed of.

Anderson High Wolves... Three complete novellas plus never-before-published bonus scenes

BOOK 1: BURIED BODIES

Jenny Reynolds may be a mere human, but her life is anything but ordinary.

She’s juggling her senior year of high school, a sick mom, a brother who depends on her, and, oh yeah, there’s the matter of a body in the trunk of her car. As if that isn’t enough, the werewolf quarterback of her high school’s all-shifter football team has started sniffing around.

What’s a girl to do when the most beautiful boy in school wants to help her out of her jam? If she’s smart, she takes him up on the offer…

BOOK 2: THE GIRL MOST LIKELY

Lane Tennyson’s greatest wish is to finish out her senior year and disappear into the big city where no one will know her name. Because this town won’t let the girl voted Most Likely to Commit Arson (again) escape her past even though she’s grown up since then and moved on.

Matthias Bridges is content with his place in life. As the second in command to a future alpha, he can see his path laid out for him and it’s a bright one. The only dark spot is the way the girl who intrigues his wolf avoids him like the plague.

So what if she once set a local trailer park on fire? Accidents happen and Lane has grown from a gangly, angry girl into a beautiful, sweet young woman.

Finding out she has every intention of leaving and never coming back after graduation is unacceptable.

Because when a wolf finds his mate, there are no limits to what he’ll do to keep her.

BOOK 3: ALL THE REASONS WHY

Natalie Lombard didn’t set out to be the queen bitch of Anderson High, but that’s what she is. She also never planned on letting everybody know how badly she wants a werewolf football player in her life, but it’s the worst kept secret at school.

What they don’t know is Natalie needs protection and the only ones she thinks stand a chance against her worst nightmare are the wolves.

Mason Armstrong held his tongue as Natalie dated her way through the team. He wants her to want him, not settle for the biggest, quietest wolf in the pack because he’s the only one who will have her.

Finding out what drives her serial dating makes his wolf see red.

But figuring out how to fix her problem is only the beginning. Once her issues get taken care of, will she even want a wolf?
