Choose another story to tell yourself

The only thing disturbing you is your own mind. Krishna Dharma

Today, I read the quote above by Krishna Dharma and it resonated so much with where I am at the moment. I have the tendency to make up stories. When I don't know everything that is going on, don't have the courage to ask, when I am in fear and want to justify something my default is to make up a story. The story is usually one with drama and almost always worse case scenario's or putting someone else square in their place.

What stories do we tell ourselves without knowing the truth?

What stories do we tell ourselves when we are in fear?

What stories do we resort to when we want to justify and rationalize nonsense?

Brene Brown says the most powerful stories we may hear are the ones that we tell ourselves. What are we telling ourselves?

The story we tell ourselves usually leads to the decisions that we make. Sometimes we make important decisions based on false stories that we made up.

Be mindful of the stories that you tell yourself, tell yourself the truth in a way that you would tell someone you love. Own the story. Use the situation as a lesson rather than a punishment.

Stories can be fun, and you get to choose

Peace

Happy International Women's Day

Be Ye Not Content with Littleness
- ACIM

Today is International Women's Day, throughout the world, many of us are taking the time to celebrate women.

Today I honor all of the women who have lived their lives with courage, determination and persistence, they cleared the path for us.

Today I honor all the women who refused to be silenced, they have allowed us  to speak our truths with conviction.

Today I honor the women who made the homes we live in comfortable despite the trauma, the little to work with, the obstacles, the abuse, they made it easier for us to have different types of homes.

Today I honor the women who were bold and apologetic about their sensuality and sexuality, they made it easier for us to do the same.

Today I honor the feminine divinity in all of us, may you continue to be blessed by it

Peace

Journey to Intuition

March's Journey is to Intuition - that still small voice that guides you. The one that sometimes makes absolutely no sense but feels so right. The thing that says stop, go, not here, go over there that you alone can hear.

This Journey requires courage, it requires down time and stillness, it requires authenticity - easier said than done as we navigate this world

-That there is nothing to fear

& that my intuition is my divine guidance & best activated when I trust, believe & honour myself.

Anything you do is a reflection of you

Anything you do is a reflection of you

What are some of the things you do daily?

What are some of the actions you take without even thinking twice?

What are some of your rituals?

Mindfulness allows us to be present when we take action and make choices, when we are aware of the choices and actions we make we are able to see our reflection clearly. When we are clear we have the confidence and courage to change what requires changing.

When  we deny or are not mindful of the actions that do not serve our best selves, the lessons remain on repeat. Situations will keep coming up to show you to either be mindful or take a new course. This we interpret as life being hard or difficult. It is simply life's way of getting our attention. Whether it is to change or to shift, something requires looking at with no heat and no judgement.

If we take the time to get curious about where we are, we are able to shift course easier and faster or with less drama.

Life is always giving us the opportunity to chose again, to be mindful and to shift course.

It's up to us to pay attention.

Peace

What Does Support Look Like to You?

You save yourself energy when you learn to ask people what they need, instead of assuming you know best then acting on your own impulses. Allowing people to define what support looks like gives you an ability to assess if you have the capacity to show up - Minaa B

If someone asks you right now, what does support look like to you, what would be your answer?

It takes self reflection , self awareness and more importantly a whole load of authenticity to answer.

On the flip side, do you rush to support others without them even asking- there may be times when that is required, however many a time we assume that we know what others want and need. The times when we do assume, after a while a feeling of resentment builds because "how could they be so ungrateful?" or "why are they not seeing their need for my help?" the other classic is "they must need my help to show them because they clearly are not seeing that they need support"

We continue to assume what others need, keep providing it and it results in resentment on both sides.

I have learnt to ask - how can I support you?, what does support look like to you in this moment?

and if I am not ready to ask I just say - I am here for you. When I work up the courage I ask the questions.

When the questions are asked we must be ready to show up- showing up also means saying listen the support you need I am unable to give you. Acknowledging this and saying this takes courage and readiness.

I have also learnt to say what I need in response to anyone asking the same question - "how can I support you?" Sometimes the answer may be I need a time out, some space to just be.

What does support look like for you?

Peace

Develop Yourself First

A word by Micheal Bernard Beckwith

There are three types of people...

People who are task-oriented but don't have goals. People who have goals but they don't know what their purpose is. Then there are people who live in a larger purpose. Within a larger purpose, you still have goals and fulfill tasks. When you're in the dynamic of a larger purpose, you may set a goal to graduate school within a certain amount of years and within that time, master a specific instrument, or you might start a business with the goal that it is profitable by the third year, or you decide to bring your body temple in shape, so you set a goal that within a year you will be able to walk three miles without being winded. You can set goals to set goals, but when living with a larger purpose, you set goals within a greater dynamic purpose. What is that purpose? That purpose is to reveal the face of Divinity. The face of Divinity can be revealed with a healthy body temple, a profitable business providing a great service, or the activation of a certain gift within a specific period of time. There are people who achieve their goals but aren't happy because they have no larger purpose. A goal allows you to become strong enough to give. Suppose I burn myself out just trying to be a giver without first developing my own gifts and talents, activating my capacity, and developing a level of health around my psychological, emotional, physical, and financial well-being. In that case, I have nothing to give... When we have goals to develop ourselves, we become better instruments of giving. If I hand you a flute, and you don't know how to play it, and I ask you to take it and go inspire that person over there, you're just going to make noise. But if you take the time and develop yourself with a level of proficiency around flute playing, then if I say to you those people over there need to be inspired, you can inspire with your flute because you developed yourself first. Now you've gone into giving. Developing yourself and giving of yourself happen simultaneously! It's not either-or. Develop yourself while being in the vibration of giving and serving people in your family, neighborhood, and humanity. Blessings.

Slowly Gets You There Too

Those who are certain of the outcome can afford to wait, and wait without anxiety. ACIM

The rush to get things done quickly has become a norm. We have grown to a point where we expect instant responses to text messages, emails, requests. We want to know what is happening now, we want a response now. We want to be able to make things happen quickly. For many, having patience is seen as weak. It is seen as being lazy and disrespectful when emails are not answered immediately, when tests are left for long. How did we get to this point? I cannot say.

I found myself caught up wanting everything now and quickly, getting worked up when it is not done now, when others do not respond to me as quickly as I believe they ought to.

As usual, on cue, the Universe responds in a timely manner, not when I say, always in Divine timing. Today my daily reading was on patience and perfectionism.

What is so urgent that it cannot wait? Why the anxiety? Having to ask myself questions about the feeling behind wanting everything now. Patience is as natural to those who trust. If there is doubt, patience is missing. If there is a need to control, patience is missing. If there is lack of faith, patience is missing.

Nature reflects back to us life as it unfolds. There is a time for everything under the sun. Plant the seeds, till the soil and watch it unfold. Blooming and harvesting takes place at a certain time, and when we rush it, the effects are usually very harmful.

My lesson today is, be patient, be mindful that the outcome is sure. It may not look like you want it to look. Either way, you learn and all experiences are useful! It depends on how we look at it.

Peace

Use Your Voice

You don't have to be perfect to be heard. Rhonda Khan

You have a voice.

You have a say.

It is up to you to use it.

You don't need permission to use it.

You don't need to be perfect.

You don't need a special outfit or any special friends to speak up.

Use your voice, it's yours

There is Nothing to Fear

There is nothing to fear - ACIM

A Course in Miracles says if we believe in illusions, fear seems very real, but we are afraid of nothing. The lesson says it is “very easy to recognize” that there is nothing to fear; what makes it seem difficult is that we want the illusions to be true.

If they are not true, we are not who we think we are and who we wish to be; so we hold on to the illusions to validate our egos, and in so doing, hold on to the fear.

This lesson resonated with me this morning. How many times have I held on to the story, the  illusion of what it should be, what I want it to be especially when reality is in front of me.

When I am presented with the reality of  a situation which is new and uncomfortable, the default is to up a story, wanting the story to be true rather than looking at the situation as is - first step called acknowledgement. Once I acknowledge, the second step is confessing what I feel. I may be scared, anxious, out of control, angry. When these feelings arise, my default is oh dear, I don't like this and go off on a story making adventure on how and why and if- rooted in fear of the unknown. This is called denial!

The Course reminded me today that there is nothing to fear. The illusion, the denial and the stories that I have made up is in a direct response to the fear. I believe that if the illusions are false then not only do I have to deal with the issue, I have made wrong choices.

There is nothing to fear in making wrong choices or dealing with any issues.

There is nothing to fear as I navigate a change in how I live my life.

There is nothing to fear period.

Peace

Open to Solutions

Our prayer is that you’re intuitively open to the solutions that are always present; that you gain an insight into the sustainable future and begin to create this future now, and do so with compassion for all sides in this equation . Guru Singh

Today and tomorrow are the scheduled days of Carnival in my country. For as long as I have known myself, this was a time of reunion of long lost friends and family coming in from abroad, a time of joy and happiness, a time where we would party, hang out, go to the beach, and as we say here "free up". Sleep would be a premium, the parties would go on for hours and hours culminating in a two day street party like no other2021, has changed all of this, the powers that be decided that due to the global pandemic that there would be no Carnival as we once knew it. I believed that I would be okay with not having a carnival, now I know that this time provided a re-set for me, the stress relief was undeniable and required, the energy was always high.Today I am sitting at a desk in an airconditioned office thinking - is this what I have chosen? Confessions on the Journey - some of the  consequences of my choices really suck!
What did I Learn?
1. Our choices have consequences, however choices can change.
2. It is quite okay to mourn a change -  especially when the situation was a huge part of your life that brought you joy.
3. Good ole' acceptance - accept the situation then  decide. And of course, acceptance does not always mean liking it.
4. Find alternatives - find what you like and go for the joy, things change all the time.
Peace
