"My father tells me that my fear
is costing him money. That since I realized
that there may be..."

“My father tells me that my fear

is costing him money. That since I realized

that there may be something lurking

in the darkness, that he has never seen

his electric bill so high. He says that there

is nothing under my bed or in my closet,

but all of these monsters and shadows

have only been created from my own head.

He says that I watch too many films,

that my imagination is running more wild

than my older sister did when she discovered

that no one could hold her back

when 18 candles were placed on

her buttercream frosted cake.

I tell my father that although I know

there is nothing hiding behind my door,

that even just one light is enough

to guarantee my safety. I woke up

last night from a nightmare where a man

with no face was standing above

my bed and was just staring.. plotting..

waiting for me to wake, and when

I awoke in my room full of darkness

the only thing my father

could hear that night was the sound

of my screams telling him

that maybe it’s not only in my head.”

I just recently started a writing blog and I've been writing and posting but nobody seems to be reading it and I feel like my writing isn't good enough, and that I shouldn't continue posting my writing. Do you have any tips for beginners?

tag everything you post - #poetry, #prose, #long-reads, #lit - depending on what type of writing it isi personally like things organized, so make sure your theme is clean - don’t have huge letters, extremely small letters or a theme that you have to keep scrolling down your title to even get to the work - keep it neat and organized - only if you wanti personally post more than writing - i.e. photography, “art”, some personal posts - i think it just gives your writing blog a little bit more to look at than just a bunch of words (although that’s the whole point but i hope you know what i mean) and gives it a bit of a visually appealing feelmake sure the words you post on there are YOUR WORDS, if not, make sure you always credit the work of others. i’ve come across a lot of new writing blogs who take the work of others and claim it as their own. i know this because i follow a lot of writing blogs and read a lot of writing and i see so many plagiarized work of fellow tumblr writers being used and being noticed. don’t do this, ever. use your name or your pen-name. i’ve come to realize that some people enjoy being able to know a bit about the person behind the words and the blog. even if it’s not your real name, giving a pen name can help you get your work out by others being able to actually identify you / quote you.follow other writers on tumblr! there is a huge writing community out there with a lot of supporters and as long as you are supporting, the love keeps going around! just check out the poetry / prose / lit tag. even though sometimes a lot of the same people are featured on there, it can never hurt to follow an editor or those they feature. i personally have found a lot of writers / fellow followers through my own search. you follow one writer and they have other writers they recommend and so on. a big circle. a big beautiful and inspiring circle of support, commitment and trust.don’t be afraid to give it your all! don’t hold back. if you don’t want people you know following you / reading your work, don’t give your blog out to anyone you know in ‘real life’. by avoiding that you’ll be able to put all of your feelings on here. mind the feelings of others. tag your work with t.w. (trigger warning) and put what kind it is. there are a lot of people on here who are easily triggered and minding their feelings and their own experiences will help you. not everyone is triggered by the same thing, but be cautious, because not everyone is as strong as you or others, or are able to see that so quickly. just try to be understanding!ask others to check out your work! but to be honest, i wouldn’t send them 5 pages of your writing so quickly. just start off with something small. sometimes they won’t give their opinion because for me, it makes me feel uncomfortable because I myself am not too keen on my own work, let alone being able to judge someone else’s. there is nothing wrong with asking! just don’t expect the person to be in awe, or to give you a ton of feedback.just write. write, read, and write some more. don’t ever compete with others. don’t ever compare yourself to others because you’ll never be able to get out of a rut of no inspiration. don’t spend all your time on the computer trying to write. step away from electronic world and just take everything that’s outside of you in. find your inspirations. find your muse. find your passions. find yourself and just write.

I'm not much of a writer, I've never been good at it, I wish I was, I see how people give you really good compliments, and I haved always wanted to thank you, to write you something for being such a beautiful human being, when I read your writings I feel l

Oh my. This was so kind and so beautiful and it’s -11 degrees outside right now and I am serious when I say that your words have warmed me. This is extremely kind, thoughtful and consuming. I wish I could give you a hug, love. Thank you for these words, truly. You are spectacular.
