Get Your Own Custom Google Glass For Only About $20!

10314033_10152197000283795_3455329764055773593_nGoogle Glass is all the rage in the nerd community, and more so because it is so rare and costly. Seeing someone wearing Google Glass is not only jarringly unique (at least today), but also a huge nerd status symbol.

I’m sure you’ve watched all the exciting demo videos and read the specs. Maybe you even know someone with Google Glass and just want to keep up. Cutting edge technology is tough. Expensive, hard to find, and always a gamble to see if you’re investing in the right new tech. But Goo...

Let the Rejections Begin!

Screen Shot 2014-05-13 at 9.41.00 AMLast night, for the first time ever, I submitted a short story to a printed magazine for consideration.

I fully expect to be rejected.

Why? Well, it’s not because I think the story sucks. I actually like the story quite a bit (after all, I wrote it, and I selected it for this auspicious first). It’s because all I hear is how authors compile huge stacks of rejections, even if they’ve published many times before. And I haven’t.

Case in point: this blog post by author Joe Bunting, “You Will Be Reje...

Lifetime Guarantee

One recent “Throwback Thursday,” someone was mentioning the old VHS/Beta video tape wars and the success of the big rental companies at that time. Of course, this topic is often used as a launchpad to ridicule me, since I was, at one point, at “Lifetime Member” of Erol’s video club. I suppose I should be somewhat thankful that the ‘lifetime’ in question, which has expired, was not mine. Erol’s is long gone.

I guess when you’ve been around long enough, you start seeing these other seemingly ete...

Standing on the Edge of the Quay

kodiakwindturbineI am excited to report that my short story,The Twelfth Quay of Water Street, has been accepted to be part of theFoglandproject,a showcase for new authors. Soon after I heard about it, Fogland became a playground for my imagination, conjuring thoughts of mystery and suspense, embellished by a dash of the surreal.

The concept is simple: All the stories take place in the same town, a place that was given the nickname Fogland because its shrouded in fog for more than two hundred days per year. Som...

Writing Vacation

photo (1)So I am taking a little writing vacation in Jamaica. But not a vacation from writing. A vacation so that I actually have time to write.

Oh, sure, there will be plenty of distractions, so it remains to be seen how much I’ll get done, but I’m going to try.

I’m hoping that big progress will be made on The Fingers of the Colossus on this trip, and I’ve already begun wrapping up one of the short stories for that collection.

My desk is a hardwood table with matching chair, staring out at the pool and...

‘A Strong Finale’

From Blood RebornSelf-Publishing Review has unveiled their review ofFrom Blood Reborn. Here is a portion of it:

After the long introspective dark tea-time of the soul of the second part,Hopeless Pastures,From Blood Reborncomes back strong, its cast hardened by their losses, and firm in their resolve to fix the world that rots around them. As most good trilogies, the book is a strong finale and pushes its characters to their limit without hesitation. Each chapter is tense yet bleak, but the small victories that...

If Content is King and The King is Elvis, then Content is Elvis

imageRoaming Las Vegas on sore feet at NAB Show. Had a great dinner overlooking the Bellagio fountains, though after the sixth time they go off during a meal, they lose some of their aw factor.

Hosting a dinner tonight on the strip and the possibly catching Cirque (Ka) with friends/colleagues.

Back to to reality tomorrow.

Cheers

The Oasis of Filth – Part 1 has been reviewed by ZombieBookBlog.com and received a rating 4 out of 5 possible zombie heads. “The only reason that I am not givingThe Oasis of Filth a full five zombie heads is because it is entirely too short,” states the review, although the author goes on to state that they “have already started on the second in the series, titledThe Hopeless Pastures.”

Check out the full review here, and be on the lookout for a review of Part 2 soon!

And in related news,The Oa...
