Thanks for the (Potentially Eternal) Memories
One of the enduring truthsof life is that, over time, things fade away. How many times have we seenacharacter in a movie lovingly strokea fragile old family photo, or a camerapan down the mantle to reveal a character’s history throughfading and aged images.
Sure, printed photos will still age. So the concept of the faded family photo is still valid, once it’s printed.

Last week, some friendly soul and/or mal-bot hacked this site. Obviously I’m back now, but it was a general pain in the ass to correct. The new version of this site uses a new newsletter sign up and some additional security features. I’m not going to be so bold as to state it’s totally secure, but hopefully I can avoid a repeat.

Good Ol’ What’s-His-Name
The question I hear most often regardingThe Oasis of Filth series is “What was the doctor’s name?” This is typically followed by “You didn’t give his name, did you?”
Some people question themselves, thinking they must’ve just missed it. But no, it’s true. The dear old doc’s name never appears in the series.
What’s life without a few mysteries, right?
Of course, as soon as I confirm that his name was never given, I’m again asked to reveal his name. Nope, sorry, not going to do it. But maybe I can...

A Year of Writing
When I started writing my first novel,The Oasis of Filth, I really had no idea what I was getting into. Writing can be really enjoyable, but it takes work and planning. I carefully plotted my chapters and story arcs. And then sometimes, while writing, I’d totally change things. Or, even better — and this happened more than I expected — I would have an idea in the middle of a chapter that nicely tied to themes from previous chapters, or foretold future events.
