NaNoWriMo Flop
So, I’m not a happy bunny. It’s the first day of NaNoWriMo and I’ve about as much energy as a drunken Duracell bunny. I’m four hundred words shy of what is the daily target of 1667 and I can’t find it in me to write those extra words.
Terrible admission, I know! But I’m shattered. It’s a relief I didn’t manage to completely and utterly fail to write anything at all. 1129 is good, when I just need sleep! Ordinarily, it’s dire. I’m capable of 5/6 + thousand words, but not when I need my pillow more than I need my next bite of chocolate. Lol.
I’ll have to make up for it tomorrow. I almost stopped at 800 words, but then, when I updated my word count, I felt sooo rubbish, I had to go back for a couple hundred words more. It’s not a lot, but it’s something and I guess that’s what NaNoWriMo is about, pushing yourself. Even if it’s just a little bit.
So, expect a word count that surpasses the target tomorrow!

Review: Just A Bit Of Banter, Like… by Chris Westlake

I’m going to start off by saying that I really liked this book. I don’t often read novels set in the UK, even though I’m a Brit, I always read American novels for some reason and it was nice to have my home country, parts of it I’ve never visited, described to me. Chris’ descriptions enabled me to visualize these places and I really enjoyed what I saw.
It’s a funny book; filled with British humour. Sarcastic and witty; honest and blunt. Nick, the main character of the tale, is very well-wraught. A definite 3D character. And his interpersonal (big word there, lol) interactions with his family and friends ‘back home’ are described brilliantly. Enough so that you really do laugh out loud. Either that, or grin and chuckle to yourself.
One of those stories that you don’t want to put down, Just A Bit Of Banter, Like… is a great read and one I’d easily recommend.

So, I’m all signed up for NaNoWriMo and I’m kind of...
So, I’m all signed up for NaNoWriMo and I’m kind of dreading it! Lol, not the best way to start :D I’m finishing up part four of the Naughty Nookie series, which is the longest one yet! A full-length novel written in 30 days, so theoretically, I’m attempting two NaNos back to back! Aggh. I’m crazy! But I won last year, so I’ll do my damnedest to win this year, too! :)
I’m going to be writing Marina’s story (Marina is the next character in the Naughty Nookie series, after Mona) at the same time as I write the novel for NaNo… a leap for me, as I’m switching genres. Kind of. Still sex, but it’s more of a thriller!
Anyhoo, two more days to get Can Be Gold finished so I can get on with it!
Wish me luck! I’m going to need it, lol.

The #AllThatGlitters freebie is almost over!

Some might think Zane’s a jerk. After all, he has or had the best of both worlds for a short time, at any rate. Jake, me – he got his rocks off at both ends. But inside, Zane’s head is in a muddle and I don’t know what he has to do to clarify what he needs to do to unravel it all.
“It’ll all be okay, won’t it, Zane?” I ask, feeling uncertain and insecure, where moments ago I’d been feeling the complete opposite. It’s a stupid question, but one that pops out of my mouth regardless.
“Of course, honey,” he murmurs, his voice as molten as the endearment he just uttered. It isn’t a trite, throw-away of course, either. He means it. And even though nothing in our conversation warrants it, and even though I don’t know where it came from, it gives me the strength to ask:
“Are you going to say goodbye to me soon?”
His silence makes me choke up, but it’s soon cut through with a sigh. “No. I can’t.”
“Why can’t you?”
I wish I could see his face. Look into his eyes, study his features and make an analysis. But I’m just relying on the subtle nuances in his tone, and the picture I’m painting isn’t complete. In fact, it paints more questions than it answers…
