Pepperoni Pizza Rolls.

You’ll have fun both making and eating these Homemade Pepperoni Pizza Rolls. Made with my tested pizza dough recipe, this is a perfect party snack!

For the Super Bowl last year, Kevin and I went over to our friends house. Pigged out on Salted Peanut Nutella Puppy Chow, homemade mango guacamole (want that recipe?), sandwiches, and beer.

We watched the Baltimore Ravens win and the streets of our city went wild. People dancing on cars, fireworks, mounted police. You couldn’t drive because the streets were packed with people celebrating. Yeaaah Ravenstown!

This year may be a little calmer, but there will definitely be great food. I’ve already been dreaming up some recipes and Pepperoni Pizza Rolls are most certainly on the menu.

It took me three tries to get these rolls right. Yes, my freezer is currently packed with mediocre pizza rolls. But the third batch? Everyone gobbled them up quite quickly. I’m hungry for more; can’t wait to make them again this weekend. :D

The first time I made them, they completely fell apart as I was rolling and cutting. I still baked them, but they weren’t appetizing. The second time I made them, I burnt them to a black crisp. Hey, I make mistakes too! I walked out of the room to send an email and returned to pizza roll char. Oops. Always an adventure in my kitchen.

Banana Chocolate Chip Breakfast Cookies.

Gluten-free Banana Chocolate Chip Breakfast Cookies made with wholesome, healthy ingredients. You won’t miss the flour, butter, and added sugar!

Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies. Dump all of the healthy ingredients into a bowl and mix! They are ready within 30 minutes. Grab them and go!

Whole grain, gluten-free, vegan, no added refined sugar, no oil, no butter, 100% clean-eating. And yes, these cookies actually taste good. Don’t believe me? I’ve made three batches in only 4 days.

The truth is, Kevin and I are both getting into training mode. He has a few bike races this spring and I’ve recently signed up for a Baltimore 10K. We’ve both been exercising much more than usual, so these high energy cookies don’t stand a chance in our house.

Anyone else out there running or biking a race this spring?

Healthy Banana Chocolate Chip Breakfast Cookies made with only a few wholesome ingredients. 1 bowl, ready in less than 25 minutes!

I consider these cookies one of the healthiest items I’ve ever baked.

“Healthy” is a relative term. What might be healthy to me, may not be healthy to the next person. But in the cookie world? These are absolutely on the wholesome side.

Fresh Strawberry Cupcakes.

These fresh strawberry cupcakes are made purely from scratch with real strawberries. Fluffy, moist, and exploding with strawberry flavor! Top them with homemade strawberry whipped cream.

Fresh Strawberry Cupcakes made from stratch. Fluffy, sweet, and exploding with strawberry flavor! Recipe at sallysbakingaddiction.com

Today we’re celebrating our 1 year engagement anniversary. It’s nothing huge to celebrate but it’s undoubtedly a special day for us. Exactly one year ago today, this was happening.

We were in Deep Creek Lake, MD – visiting the snowy Swallow Falls – and he got down on one knee. I had no make-up on, wearing my glasses, shivering, and wearing snow pants. Totally unromantic, yet the best day of my life so far.

In less than 8 months, I’ll be marrying my peanut butter-loving, handyman, huge-hearted soulmate. I’m a little sappy today, forgive me.

Let’s take a break from all this whole wheat business and concentrate on something a little sweeter. Lip-smackin, sunshine sweet strawberry cupcakes made 100% from scratch. With real strawberries. And real whipped cream.

I’m going to be honest with you…

For the past year, I’ve been trying to make a strawberry cupcake from scratch. I even had it originally listed on my Table of Contents for my cookbook. I switched it out with another cupcake at the last minute because I truthfully could not bake a perfectly sweet, fruity, and non-artificial tasting homemade strawberry cupcake. Disaster after disaster after disaster. I felt completely defeated.

Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Blondies.

My favorite soft & chewy peanut butter blondie recipe, lightened up with less sugar and whole wheat flour – without sacrificing any of the peanut butter taste!

Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Blondies. So soft, chewy, and full of peanut butter flavor. You won't even realize these are lightened-up!

Yes, this is peanut butter + chocolate recipe #2 this week. TGIF.

There are two reasons for all the peanut butter madness recently, I swear. First, there was a sale at my grocery store. Stock up when you can, folks.

Second, Happy National Peanut Butter Day! Yes, January 24th is the perfect day to celebrate all that is… peanut butter. You don’t think I’d miss the opportunity to celebrate this imperative holiday, right?

Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Blondies. So soft, chewy, and full of peanut butter flavor. You won't even realize these are lightened-up!

This recipe may look familiar to you. I’ve actually made something quite similar before. Two years ago, Kevin and I celebrated Valentine’s Day by going out for Mexican food and margaritas. Mexican food (tacos and quesadillas) was our first date – totally romantic, I know.

I remember buying him a leather wallet, making a few chocolate covered strawberries, and these blondies for dessert. I’m pretty sure the two of us ate nearly the entire pan. If there’s anyone who loves peanut butter more than I do, it’s my fiancé.

Roasted Vegetable Whole Wheat Pizza.

Slice-by-slice, this homemade pizza will disappear before your eyes. Made on a simple whole wheat crust, you can pile it high with your favorite roasted veggies!

Homemade Whole Wheat Pizza Crust (that actually tastes good!) piled high with roasted veggies. Pizza night just got a little healthier.

I’m writing this post with a mug of hot cocoa on my desk, a cozy blanket on my legs, and I’m considering putting on some gloves as I type. It’s 5 degrees F here in Baltimore with a windchill of -10. Eight inches of fresh powder on the ground and not a warm day in sight.

I’m craving warm, carby comfort food like macaroni and cheese with a side of chocolate chip cookies. Leftover homemade roasted veggie pizza will suffice though.

I’m a bonafide pizza-holic, didn’t you know?

Homemade Roasted Vegetable Pizza on top of my honey-sweetened whole wheat pizza crust. You will love this recipe!

Let’s cut right to the chase.

Whole wheat pizza crust is known to be tough, dense, and flavorless. Nothing at all like fluffy, chewy, soft, and crispy white pizza crust that we all know and love.

Today I’m changing that! I spent about 2 weeks testing for a lip-smackin’ whole wheat pizza crust recipe. A little more flour, a little less oil, more yeast, less salt, you know the deal. Yes, we’ve been eating a lot of pizza here lately.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Lovers’ Granola.

A healthy on-the-go snack for all of us with a sweet tooth! Only 7 ingredients needed to make this chocolate peanut butter granola.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Lovers' Granola - an easy, healthy treat for all of us with a sweet tooth!

It has been far too long since I posted a chocolate & peanut butter recipe.

Wait… 12 days is long enough, right?

I can’t go 1 day without a peanut butter/chocolate craving. It hits me like a ton of bricks. Actually, more like a ton of peanut butter cups. Mmm, tasty. My pantry is currently home to 9 different peanut butter jars, my candy bowl is full of Reese’s, and I live with this peanut butter monster. Don’t get between him and the peanut butter.

If peanut butter and/or chocolate is your middle name, this granola is for you.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Lovers' Granola - an easy, healthy snack for those of us with a sweet tooth!

I made this granola recipe twice last week. You see, the first time I made it… I shot it right away. Made it look pretty, took photos of it, and had to run out the door. Later that night, I gobbled it up on the couch watching Pulp Fiction. Kevin took the leftovers to work with him the next day and that’s that.

After he left, I pulled up the photos on my computer and kicked myself for not double checking them the day before. They were awful! The lighting in our new apartment is world’s different than our old apartment.

Our apartment before the flood faced west, so I could shoot at 4pm and still catch some great sunlight. Heck, some of my cookbook recipes were shot at 6pm in the summer!

This one… 5:49pm. Crazy.

White Chocolate Dipped Red Velvet Cookies.

Soft & chewy red velvet cookies made from scratch. Dip them in white chocolate and give each one a shower of festive sprinkles.

Soft & chewy Red Velvet Cookies made from scratch. Dip them in white chocolate and sprinkles! Recipe by sallysbakingaddiction.com

A quick break from the healthy January recipes today. Sorry?

I made a batch of red velvet cookies this weekend for my best friend, Erin. Erin was my roommate before I moved in with Kevin. She lived with me for the first year of Sally’s Baking Addiction’s life. Last night, she told me that she remembers the moment after I first pressed publish. I walked out of my bedroom in my pink fuzzy socks and said “no one is going to read it!”

Thank you, Erin, for putting up with all the weekend baking. Not to mention, all the photography help! Erin is a talented photographer herself and also my running buddy.

Erin came over last night to see the new apartment. We made pizza, drank wine, and she brought me this new polka dot loaf pan (from Home Goods). The gal knows me too well. Erin also got a glance at my advanced cookbook copy. Her exact reaction was “it’s so you.” Mission accomplished, folks.

The Countdown Begins.

Sally's Baking Addiction Cookbook - over 75+ exclusive and fully photographed recipes!

Ladies and gents, it’s almost here.

My very first cookbook hits the shelves soon. Someone pinch me. Am I dreaming?

Cookbook

I began writing my cookbook last May. I finished my manuscript in September. And my book went to the printers in December.

My editor told me that my cookbook will take longer to print than most cookbooks because… it’s so colorful. ;)

Sally's Baking Addiction Cookbook

Each chapter has a different color scheme, sort of like a rainbow.

Yes, I’m 5 years old.

Favorite Homemade Hummus with Spiced Pita Chips.

Thick and creamy homemade hummus with spiced whole wheat pita chips. This is a classic hummus recipe that you will make time and time again!

Homemade Hummus with Crunchy Spiced Pita Chips. This is my favorite (super simple) homemade hummus recipe, you will make it time and time again!

My Golden Globe snack of choice the other night? You’re looking at it.

I wish I could tell you that I shared most of this hummus with Kevin, but that would be a lie. In fact, every single time I make this hummus (which is on a weekly basis, I kid you not) – I seem to hoard it all myself.  We put on a movie and I miss the first 20 minutes because I’m too busy with all of this hummus business.

For the record, the 2 Tablespoon “suggested serving size” of hummus is one of life’s unsolved mysteries.

Homemade Hummus with Crunchy Spiced Pita Chips. This is my favorite (super simple) homemade hummus recipe, you will make it time and time again!

I know what you’re thinking. A hummus recipe – how boring!

But no. This classic hummus recipe is anything but. It’s ultra thick, ultra creamy, and simply incredible on top of spiced whole wheat pita chips. The crunchy pita chips? Yes, another snack I make on the regular. We’re snackaholics, if you haven’t realized.

(Dessertaholics as well… but that goes without saying.)
