Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks.

Soft and fluffy garlic infused breadsticks covered in melted cheese. Use my step-by-step visuals to help guide you!

Soft and fluffy garlic infused breadsticks covered in melted cheese. Step-by-step visuals to help guide you included! Recipe at sallysbakingaddiction.com

From experimenting in the kitchen the past couple months, I’ve learned that if you have a solid pizza dough recipe… your carby options are endless. For example:

You can make some homemade extra cheese pizza, heavy on the good stuff. You can make salty/sweet caramelized apple gorgonzola pizza. (pairs fabulously with some white wine) You can make pizza pinwheels that are as fun to roll as they are to eat. Play around a bit and transform it into a whole wheat pizza dough.

And if you’re looking for a a little something to soak up all the pasta sauce and salad dressing on your plate or the soup in your bowl – you can make a batch of ultra chewy, ultra soft cheesy garlic breadsticks with that same dough.

Luckily, I have that pizza dough recipe for you to start with and it couldn’t be easier.

Super cheesy garlic breadsticks made from scratch. Soft & fluffy, your family will love them!

It’s not hard to make restuarant-style breadsticks at home. Trust me! Making homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, pizza crust, etc used to terrify me. The thought of baking with yeast sent me running in fright from the kitchen. But I’m here to tell you that it’s not difficult.

You just need the right directions, a view visuals, proper ingredients, and a little patience. Patience… easier said that done right? Ha!

Loaded Oatmeal Cookies.

Soft-baked, ultra chewy, and simple oatmeal cookie recipe. Only 30 minutes to chill, you’ll have oatmeal cookies in no time. Load them with your favorites!

Soft & chewy Loaded Oatmeal Cookies. Sweetened with brown sugar and loaded with butterscotch, M&Ms, and chocolate chunks!

A lot of readers ask me… what’s your favorite basic cookie recipe? Well, I have a few.

For super soft & thick, try my chocolate chip cookies and add in whatever you like! For extra chewy, try my chewy chocolate chunk cookies. For sugar cookies – bake these, for chocolate cookies – I suggest these, for peanut butter cookies – use this recipe, and for snickerdoodles – bake these in only 20 minutes.

But for oatmeal cookies? You’re looking at them.

Soft & chewy Loaded Oatmeal Cookies. Sweetened with brown sugar and loaded with butterscotch, M&Ms, and chocolate chunks!

My favorite oatmeal cookie couldn’t be any more straightforward and simple. They’re soft, they’re chewy, kissed with molasses flavor, and ready for any add-ins your tastebuds desire. I typically make them with raisins and/or M&Ms - published here.

Those photos were updated recently – that’s how often I make these oatmeal cookies!

Lemon Blueberry Layer Cake.

Sunshine-sweet lemon layer cake dotted with juicy blueberries and topped with lush cream cheese frosting. Take a bite and taste the bursts of bright flavors!

Deliciously sweet and light Lemon Blueberry Layer Cake. Tangy cream cheese frosting gives each bite a sweet touch!

What on earth is a lusciously fruit-filled recipe like this doing on my kitchen table in February? Because I’m desperately craving some sunshine, pastels, and floral sweaters as I watch the snow fall out my window.

While I know the east coast hasn’t been hit nearly as hard as the midwest, we’ve had more snow than we know what to do with. My parent’s didn’t have electric for days, our home flooded, cars got stuck, and there were a handful of days with a -10 windchill. Brrr.

I love the snow for obvious reasons, but someone pass me a fork. I’m diving headfirst into this sunshine-sweet, springtime layer cake and not coming out until it’s April.

I made this cake for my girlfriends, Megan and Erin. The three of us got together on Friday night and had a little dinner party at Megan’s house. We drank wine, ate chicken piccata, toasted almond goat cheese salad, and fresh blackberry cheesecake for dessert. Made by Megan, who is a photographer, cupcake enthusiast, and accountant. Megan taught me a lot about photography.

On top of all of that, I brought over a few slices of this cake and a fresh batch of oatmeal cookies. It was our own little Thanksgiving. And yes, I’m still full!

Megan’s husband said the cake reminded him of a light-crumbed, super moist sponge cake. Megan and Erin said the lemon flavor was spot on, as well as the cream cheese frosting’s sweetness. Not too sweet, not too tangy. The perfect accompaniment to the lip-smackin’ cake underneath.

36 Valentine’s Day Recipes.

Sally's Baking Addiction Valentine's Day Recipe Ideas

I don’t publish very many recipe round-ups on my blog, but I couldn’t resist today. I’m a sucker for this upcoming sappy Hallmark holiday. Not because it’s sickeningly lovey-dovey, but because its celebratory color is pink.

Though I claim my favorite color is orange, everyone in my life will disagree. Heck, even the girls’ bridesmaid dresses are pink. More like coral. Two-toned orange/pink lace. Lilly Pulitzer “Rosaline” Dress, spring 2013 line. My sister has a part-time job at a Lilly shop, so we got a great discount. Here’s a close-up of the lace.

Valentine’s Day is an excuse to eat truffles, decorate desserts with heart sprinkles, and drink raspberry champagne floats. But do you really need a holiday to do all that?

Kevin and I celebrate Vday each year by going out for Mexican food or making our own at home. Always complete with margaritas on the rocks with salt and guacamole. Totally romantic, I know.

Alright, enough blabber. Here we go. All the photos are numbered and their links with corresponding numbers are right below each photo collage. Let me know which recipes you try!

NatureBox Snacks Giveaway!

NatureBox Snacks Giveaway-6

If you’ve been reading my blog for quite some time, you’ll notice that I do not post many giveaways. This is because I do not feel comfortable promoting a product I do not genuinely love. Adobe Lightroom, adorable charm bracelets, Le Creuset bakeware… all items I own, love, and have given away on my blog.

That being said, let me introduce you to NatureBox. While I had no idea about these snacks until I was approached to give away a 6-month subscription supply, I am so excited about them now. I’m a bonafide snackaholic and these fit the bill nicely for when I want something healthy, convenient, and quick.

Heck, I even got a few of my friends placing orders for them!

NatureBox Snacks Giveaway-3

Kevin and I were sent a box to sample last month and the snacks were gone in about 3 days. I’m absolutely not joking. With a 6’3″ man in the house and me… who is known for midnight munching… we loved having a few bags of healthy options to munch on while watching TV at night.

We received snacks ranging from salty to sweet to chewy to crunchy:

Mini Red Velvet Cheesecakes.

Creamy chocolate chip cheesecake on top of a homemade, from-scratch red velvet cookie crust. Red velvet lover or not, these mini cheesecakes are irresistible!

Red Velvet Cheesecakes made with a homemade red velvet cookie crust and creamy cheesecake on top!

I’ve been thinking about this red velvet recipe for weeks. Thoughts of soft-baked red velvet crust with creamy cheesecake on top have been overtaking my dreams. What? You mean to tell me you don’t dream about desserts?

I keep a notepad next to my bed and when I wake up in the middle of the night or in the morning, I jot down recipe ideas that have crossed my mind. I usually don’t understand my sleepy chicken scratch the next morning, but there was no confusion here!

Mini red velvet cheesecakes for the win.

Red Velvet Cheesecakes made with a homemade red velvet cookie crust and creamy cheesecake on top!

I made these scarlet red beauties yesterday morning. And when I say morning, I mean 6am. I’m an early bird, just like my mom. Well, actually… Jude’s an early bird. He demands a walk before the sun comes up. How can you say no to this face?!

I wasn’t able to snap in-process shots for you for this recipe, but there’s no need. The two layers are quite simple to make! I must admit that I was a tad nervous these little cheesecakes wouldn’t turn out. Would the cookie crust be too delicate? Would it get hard and crunchy? Chocolate chips? No chocolate chips?

Ha! Of course chocolate chips.

Banana Chocolate Chip Crumb Cake.

Super-moist banana crumb cake layered with cinnamon, brown sugar, and chocolate chip streusel. Not one piece of this lip-smacking cake will be leftover!

Banana Chocolate Chip Crumb Cake with a thick cinnamon-streusel swirl. The best part about brunch!

Today’s recipe was completely unplanned.

Ok, let me rewind. Like I told you yesterday, some of Kevin’s family was in town this past weekend.  We all got together for an indulgent brunch on Sunday at his sister’s house in Baltimore city. Kerry made overnight french toast (a cookbook recipe!), two quiches, fruit salad, and I brought this little crumb cake number.

For dessert, Kerry made this with strawberries on top. Told ya it was indulgent.

Kevin didn’t tell me about brunch with his family until 4pm the day before. Doesn’t he know I live by my planner?! Boys. With a few sad looking brown-speckled bananas on the counter… I knew exactly what I could make for it.

Because, I couldn’t possibly go empty handed. Any opportunity to bake… I seize it.

After the crumb cake received rave reviews from his family, I knew I had to share the recipe with you. I made it again the next day and have leftovers in my freezer. Along with about 1,000 other dessert items. Wanna come over?

This simple recipe makes 1 Giant Oatmeal Creme Pie – like an old-fashioned Little Debbie, but bigger and better!

This simple recipe makes 1 Giant Oatmeal Creme Pie - like an old-fashioned Little Debbie, but bigger and better!

Tell me about your Super Bowl weekend! Whatcha eat?

Kevin’s sister, brother-in-law, and niece were in town and we went out to a fancy Italian dinner on Saturday and had quite the indulgent brunch on Sunday. I felt like Kevin needed to roll me out of the house by the end of the day. Wait until you see what I made for the brunch! That recipe is coming tomorrow.

I also made a giant cookie this weekend for absolutely no reason at all.

1 Giant Oatmeal Creme Pie. Like Little Debbie's, but bigger and better! sallysbakingaddiction.com

It has been far too long since I shared a new giant cookie recipe with you. Because of this nonsense, you’re getting two in one today. A sweet, cream-filled twofer. A cookie sandwich as big as your head. A cookie to put all other cookies to shame…

Photo A Day, January.

Photo A Day, January

When I first planned on a “Photo A Day” post to publish for January, I had no idea my month would include a deadly shooting at my mall and a flood in my home.

The world will throw many unavoidable curveballs. It’s how you handle them and bounce back that counts. Sort of like running up a huge hill; it’s the flat plateau after that hill where you’re really strengthening your sport. That’s what is most important.

Jan 1. (midnight)

NYE

Jan 2. 1 quart cold water, 2 freshly squeezed lemons, 1/4 cup Bragg’s unfiltered apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon ground ginger, liquid stevia to taste. Drink it all throughout the day; it beats the bloat and/or a hangover. I make it a few times per week.

Apple Cider Detox Drink - let's just say my mid-section has never felt better!
