Caramel Apple Turnovers.

These flaky turnovers are so easy to make. Simply stuff with homemade cinnamon apple filling and generously top with caramel sauce.

Caramel Apple Turnovers in less than an hour. Easier than I ever thought! | sallysbakingaddiction.com

I had a bittersweet moment yesterday.  I took Jude out for his early morning walk and after 2 minutes of being in the fresh air, I had to rush back inside to change from my beloved flip-flops into my fuzzy moccasin slippers (pink, of course).  I threw a warm fleece over my lightweight t-shirt and braced the crisp air.

You guys, Autumn is upon us.  Sadly, that means goodbye to summer.

Jude + Slippers

Luckily, it means hello to everything here. Yum.  ♥

If you’re anything like me, you enjoy the warm flavors of fall any time of the year.  I had dreams of making today’s turnovers back in the spring but decided to wait until the weather cooled down to actually make them.  I’m kicking myself for waiting so long; these buttery, flaky turnovers are INCREDIBLE.  I mean… look at them.

Peanut Butter & Jelly Protein Smoothie.

A thick, creamy, healthy smoothie reminiscent of your favorite childhood sandwich. With 23 grams of pure protein, it will keep you full for hours.

Peanut Butter & Jelly Protein Smoothie. Thick, creamy, healthy, and 23 grams of protein. sallysbakingaddiction

Smoothies and milkshakes are the only thing helping my recent cold.  Kevin got sick last week and I caught the little bug from him. I never get sick!  Now, as I’m pushing my final cookbook deadline, I’m drinking my vitamins left and right to stay focused and healthy!

My recent obsession? Good ole PB&J.  There is nothing like the two together, right?

Except, of course, for this.  ♥

Peanut Butter

This drink is practically pure protein. I made it on Friday afternoon with no intention of feeding my muscles 23 grams of the stuff. That’s right – a whopping 23 grams in 1 huge (HUGE!) smoothie.  It’s not your ordinary smoothie that will have you starving 5 minutes later. In fact, this holds me over for hours!

Glazed Chocolate Donut Holes.

Moist chocolate donut holes, baked not fried, and thickly covered in a sweet glaze.

Happy Friday! Breakfast is served.

I love everything about donuts (doughnuts, donuts whatever). Fluffy, light, sugary, airy, doughy, sweet, GLAZE.  So much glaze. While jelly donuts have been and will always be my favorite variety, I have a huge soft spot for glazed chocolate.  Especially glazed chocolate donut holes – aka munchkins.

Donuts have been on my mind for the past few weeks.  Ever since I went out for coffee and donuts with a friend back in Philly.  We went to this adorable little donut shop selling the most unique flavors. We each couldn’t decide on one, so we got three to split: blueberry pie, peanut butter & banana cream (!!!), and Samoas.  I want to recreate them all at home. But for today? Simple, yet extraordinary chocolate + glaze.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Perfectly soft & chewy pumpkin chocolate chip cookies without being cakey.

Introducing this week’s pumpkin recipe. It’s a doozy.

I am 100% in the autumn state of mind.  There is no turning back for me. Pumpkin coffee, harvest scented candles, apple pie, fall inspired Pinterest boards. I can’t believe it’s already September, but I am truly loving every moment of it.

Earlier this week I compiled a little list of things I want to do this fall. I can’t wait to carve pumpkins and put them on our new patio out front.  Looking forward to pumpkin brews, boots, long walks, and fuzzy scarves. This is the best time of year. :)

To do this fall...

What are you looking forward to this fall season?

Hopefully pumpkin cookies are on your list.  I’m a little crazy when it comes to pumpkin cookies. I am not a fan of soft, cakey pumpkin cookies and pumpkin tends to make every single batch of cookies – cakey.  It’s like eating a pumpkin muffin top or something. Which is obviously delicious, but when I want a cookie – I want a cookie, not a muffin.

Peanut Butter Greek Yogurt Frosting.

A creamy, thick, protein-packed frosting to use on top of all your favorite healthy (or not-so-healthy) treats.

Skinny Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Greek Yogurt Frosting at sallysbakingaddiction.com

Good morning!

How was your Labor Day?  I spent the weekend in Chicago with my best friend Marie and her sisters, celebrating her sister Kathleen’s bachelorette party. If you follow me on Instagram, you got a taste of our fun-filled (and food-filled!) weekend.

We ate cupcakes, deep dish pizza, sushi, tapas, Garrett’s famous caramel corn, apple pie, cinnamon rolls, and more.  We drank beer, sipped wine, and had a few more beers. Let’s just say – I think I’ll be full for the next few days…

Chicago

I’m back home in Baltimore and it is back to reality!

Ok, has it really been over a month since my last peanut butter recipe? I am ashamed, my friends.  Let’s fix that with a peanut butter treat that can be eaten ALL the time with ANYTHING you please.

Summer 2013 + Cookbook News.

DCL1

While the summer isn’t officially over yet, Labor Day has always been the “unofficial” (aka depressing) end of summer for me. Kids are back in school, the weather… is… still pretty hot, there are less mosquitos biting me, and the days are getting shorter.  While you know how much I love the summer months, I am SO excited for fall to get here.  Cozy sweaters, boots, pumpkin coffee treats, engagement photos, and shopping for my wedding gown.

This summer was different than any summer I’ve ever had.  It was the first summer in 5 years that I wasn’t holed up in an office building.  The first summer I’ve been engaged (but not the last summer I’ll be engaged either! Sept 20 2014 ♥). It was the first summer I lived with Kevin and the first summer I spent writing a cookbook and being self employed.

Do more of what makes you happy

Cookbook Details

Back in April, I left my office job in the corporate world to concentrate on growing and developing my website.  Before that, I had been juggling both a full time job and SBA. April was the same time that I signed the contract to write Sally’s Baking Addiction Cookbook as well. Since then, I’ve been writing my manuscript, baking 75 “secret” recipes behind the scenes, and taking 100s of photographs of them all in my teeny tiny apartment. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve been getting sneak peeks. ;)

The book has 8 chapters:

Mocha Mint Chocolate Chunk Cookies.

Chewy Mocha Mint Chocolate Chunk Cookies, plus the secrets to chewy and soft cookies! Recipe sallysbakingaddiction.com

These ultra chewy cookies are inspired by two of my favorite ice cream flavors: mint chocolate chip and coffee.  Have you ever combined the two?

No?

Well, you should.

Another fantastic combination inspiring today’s recipe is the glorious peppermint mocha coffee drink we enjoy during the holiday months.  The combination of chocolate + mint + coffee makes me forget all about peanut butter. (kidding!)

I know how much you love my Chewy Chocolate Chunk Cookie recipe.  Hundreds of thousands of pins on Pinterest, countless emails and comments reigning them the best-ever cookie.  Trust me – they’re pretty awesome.  I took the same exact cookie recipe and added a touch of instant coffee, a smidge of cocoa powder, and a truckload of Andes mints. Tons of minty goodness. I ♥ Andes.

The result? Chewy-chocolate-mint-mocha-coffee-soft-cookie-bliss, to put it simply.
