Pumpkin Spice Puppy Chow.
Puppy chow snack mix gets a festive twist with pumpkin spices and candy pumpkins. Be warned – this sugary stuff is dangerously good!
You know how much I love puppy chow, right? The addicting sugary snack makes me weak at the knees. I can never say no when it’s in front of me!
Puppy chow – aka Muddy Buddies – is not dog food. You would be surprised how many folks contact me about that. “You feed that to your dog?” No, no! Puppy chow is a snack mix – for humans.
Surely you knew that a pumpkin version was bound to happen.
I have seen many recipes for pumpkin flavored puppy chow. Ali, Megan, Alyssa, and even Land O’ Lakes. The more of this pumpkin chow, the merrier! (I’m sure there are other recipes out there. Sorry if I am missing you!)

October Days. ☀
There is nothing I don’t love about the month of October. Breaking out the cozy sweaters and boots for the first time, crunching the leaves as you walk, the crisp morning air, orange sunsets, pumpkin and candy corn everything, honey crisp apples, and Halloween.
(PS: Halloween is my favorite holiday.) Boo!
Here’s what I’ve been up to so far this unseasonably warm October.

Snickery-Doodles.
When gooey Snickers Bars and soft-baked Snickerdoodle Cookies meet.
Somehow. Someway. A giant bowl of caramel-y, chocolate-y Snickers Bars landed into my snickerdoodle cookie dough.
Sneaky little candy bars.
My favorite nutty candy bar and my favorite homemade snickerdoodles become one today. This homemade snickerdoodle recipe is probably familiar to you. It’s been one of the most popular recipes of 2013 so far. They’re thick, soft, and quick! No dough chilling involved. Start to finish? 20-30 minutes. Hallelujah!
I have been going nuts lately in the candy aisle at Target. Everything is on sale for Halloween and a girl can’t say no to 2 for $4 giant bags of chocolate bars, right? This is the best time of year.

How to make: Crunchy Roasted Chickpeas.
Chickpeas roasted to cinnamon-spiced perfection. Only 4 ingredients required. Crunchy, sweet, healthy, and definitely irresistible!
I know what you’re thinking. Chick-peas? Beans?!?!?!
Yes! Roasting chick peas is nothing new to me, but it may certainly be unfamiliar to you. I love to coat these little beans in different spices and roast them to crunchy perfection. They lose all of their bean-y taste and remind me of crunchy nuts. My favorite way to roast ‘em is to slather them in cinnamon-sugar. Are you surprised?!
If you’ve never tried roasted chickpeas before, you’re missing out! Luckily, I have a step-by-step tutorial to show you how to make this healthy little snack. It’s easy and only requires 4 simple ingredients.
I typically make two cans at a time. Having a protein and fiber-packed snack lying around prevents me from digging into my cookie stash every hour. Though I want to, I can’t live off of salted caramel cookies alone. I am trying on wedding gowns this month after all.

Skinny Almond Joy Milkshakes.
Creamy, decadent tasting chocolate milkshake flavored with almond and coconut. Sweetened with bananas, protein-packed from Greek yogurt, and undeniably refreshing.
Step aside Mounds Bar Cookies, I’ve got a new candy bar love in town. (But don’t go too far because your chewy dark chocolate goodness is simply irresistible.)
My new love comes in skinny form. Using nothing but healthful, good for the body & soul ingredients. Plus it tastes like a candy bar in thick, creamy milkshake form.
This milkshake is so-very-yum. It’s my Saturday treat.
If you’re anything like me, you make milkshakes and smoothies often. My best friend (and old roommate) Erin and I used to fight over who would get the blender first after our runs. (Hi Erin!)
More recently, there was a 2 week stint last month where I practically lived on nothing but protein smoothies and Trader Joe’s guacamole & chips. Perfect meal in my eyes.

Favorite Pumpkin Oatmeal Cookies.
These chewy, flavorful, moist pumpkin oatmeal cookies are soft without being cakey. Truly one of my favorite ways to enjoy the fall!
Your weekly daily dose of pumpkin is here. And you might want to listen up. This recipe is one of the best.
You’re aware of my cakey pumpkin cookie problem, right? It took me 12 tries to develop a soft (not cakey!) pumpkin chocolate chip cookie. And last month, I finally nailed it! Those soft-baked cookies have been a HUGE hit on my website so far. Try crumbling them over vanilla ice cream…
Anyway! I gave myself a new challenge over the past few weeks. You know, to keep things exciting.
I’m an oatmeal cookie kind of girl. My favorite cookie varieties all include oats: oatmeal raisin, oatmeal scotchies, oatmeal creme pies (see all my faves linked below the recipe!). I’ve been craving a soft, slightly chewy pumpkin oatmeal cookie. Lots of texture without any of that cakey business. I baked a ton of different batches of pumpkin oatmeal cookies in 2 days, changing ingredients ever so slightly, and here is the winning recipe.

Snickerdoodle Cupcakes with Cinnamon Swirl Frosting.
Cinnamon-sugar swirled vanilla cupcakes topped with creamy cinnamon and vanilla frosting.
Snickerdoodle cookies have and will always reign supreme to many other types of cookies. Well, in my world at least. Pure, simple, and loaded with cinnamon-sugar. I love any excuse to dunk a baked good into cinnamon-sugar.
I’m pretty sure cinnamon-sugar runs through my veins. Cinnamon for the win!
And I wasn’t shy about loading up my favorite cupcake recipe with cinnamon today. Cinny-swirls inside, cinnamon peeking through the edges, cinnamon-sugar dusted on top, a mountain of cinnamon-swirl frosting, and a mini snickerdoodle cookie to finish it all off. Go grab a tall glass of milk because you’ll need it to get through this post…
I have a standard vanilla batter that I use as my go-to for cakes and cupcakes. This batter has morphed into funfetti, funfetti again, strawberry shortcake, very very very vanilla bean, cookies ‘n cream, and tie-dye with only a few slight changes here and there.

KIND Snacks Giveaway!
Have you ever had KIND Snacks before?
KIND Bars have been one of my favorite energy boosters for years. Kevin loves them too. We’re big fans because the ingredient lists in their products are short and familiar. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I like to-the-point ingredient lists. Not a while bunch of “fluff.” Especially when it comes to my healthy recipes.
I have so much respect for this company, the KIND things they do for their community, and their healthy product offerings. KIND’s philosophy is that food can be both healthy AND tasty. That’s pretty much the philosophy I follow when I’m baking my skinny recipes. Easy, familiar, healthy ingredients that taste great too.
