Honeycrisp Apple Sangria.

This sangria is THEE drink to make this fall. It combines red wine, brandy, cinnamon, apple cider, citrus, and of course – sweet honeycrisp apples!

Philadelphia readers: I will be signing cookbooks at William’s Sonoma in the King of Prussia mall plaza this Saturday October 25th 12-4pm. I would love to meet you! Bring your copy (I will be selling a few while supplies last) and come say hi, shop, and eat. I’ll have treats. Thank you so much for your support!

Kevin and I celebrated our 1 month anniversary on Monday with champagne, chocolate chip cookies, sushi, and this honeycrisp apple sangria. Because no anniversary – of any kind – is ever too small for champagne. And chocolate. And red wine.

I heard most of you love honeycrisp apples as much as I do. First bite usually results in borderline honeycrisp obsession. You soon become a complete apple snob, turning your nose up at any other variety. Except maybe Pink Lady (yessssss). And then you hoard honeycrisps the moment they pop up every September, which leaves you broke. But it’s all very worth it because… honeycrisps.

Pumpkin Streusel Bars.

Instead of pumpkin pie this season, try my pumpkin streusel bars. With a gingersnap crust and brown sugar streusel topping, everyone will want seconds.

Instead of pumpkin pie this season, try my pumpkin streusel bars. With a gingersnap crust and brown sugar streusel topping, everyone will want seconds!

Pumpkin season is in full swing and while I have yet to bake a traditional pumpkin pie this season, I’ve made enough cupcakes to clean my grocery store’s pumpkin supply out.

In addition to pumpkin cupcakes, I made this nutella swirled pumpkin pie over the weekend. Because if there’s any way to mess with traditional pumpkin pie, it’s with nutella swirls and gingersnap cookies. I also made today’s pumpkin bars.

It was a very merry pumpkin weekend, yes.

Instead of pumpkin pie this season, try my pumpkin streusel bars. With a gingersnap crust and brown sugar streusel topping, everyone will want seconds!

Today’s pumpkin streusel bars are the epitome of dessert bars. And you 1,000% percent have got to try them. Let me explain why: first, you have a snappy (couldn’t help myself) gingersnap crust. I freakin’ love gingersnap cookies. There’s nothing like biting into a soft gingersnap molasses cookie, but for this crust – you’ll need the crunchy kind. Crunchy, hard gingersnap cookies. I admit, I bought a box of them from the store.

Hawaiian Pina Colada Smoothie & a Giveaway.

A tropical beach vacation in a glass. With a cherry on top.

This banana + pineapple + coconut + vanilla smoothie is a tropical beach vacation in a glass. With a cherry on top.

Let me interrupt your craving for all things fall flavored.

Though it may be getting cooler outside and you want nothing more than to break out your boots, wear your cable knit, and eat pumpkin pie all day long- here is a little taste of tropical paradise for you. Inspired by pina coladas enjoyed laying in a hammock by the brilliant blue ocean on Maui last week.

No edits here, it’s truly this beautiful.

Maui

I made today’s smoothie earlier this week because I miss everything about those lazy umbrella drink filled afternoons. That were often followed by a nap, dinner, champagne, and more umbrella drinks. Get me out of this dreary rainy weather and back to the beach.

Seriously Smooth Roasted Garlic Parmesan Hummus.

Smooth as silk hummus with lots of roasted garlic, nutty parmesan, and a little pepper for a kick. Serve this creamy dip up with crunchy homemade pita chips and your favorite sliced veggies.

Roasted Garlic Parmesan Hummus Recipe - smooth as silk and served up with homemade pita chips

Give me a tub of hummus, some pita chips, a glass of wine and I’m all set. Because why would one need to eat anything else? Besides a handful of reese’s pieces of course.

Yes, I’m describing my exact Tuesday night on the couch to you.

If you’re looking for incredibly thick hummus, let me direct you to my favorite basic hummus recipe. Man alive, that stuff is good. But if you’re craving something a little more authentic, smoother, silkier, packed with roasted garlic, and filled with nutty parmesan – you’ve come to the right place today.

Roasted Garlic Parmesan Hummus Recipe - smooth as silk and served up with homemade pita chips

I made this seriously smooth roasted garlic parmesan hummus yesterday and it’s already gone. (My serving size is no where near 2 Tablespoons. Who can only eat 2 Tablespoons of dip? I don’t understand??) The flavor of it is unreal and, apparently, addictive.

There’s cheese. There’s roasted garlic. There’s even more roasted garlic. And it’s downright incredible spread on a whole wheat tortilla rolled up with roasted red peppers and a handful of spinach. Your breath won’t be pleasant but your tastebuds will be happy.

130 Calorie Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Muffins.

These 130 calorie chocolate muffins taste like dessert. Lightly flavored with pumpkin, spices, and maple – you’ll be happy to jump out of bed to bite into one this fall.

130 Calorie Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Muffins by sallysbakingaddiction.com. Fudgy muffins that are full of flavor and light on calories!

We’re back from one incredible honeymoon on Maui and Kauai. Of all the sights we saw, delicious food we ate (including tuna ceviche with coconut milk and macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi- omg) and drinks we tasted, I have to say that the sunrise at Haleakala Summit was absolutely my favorite part. Haleakala was 2 hours from our hotel, so you can imagine what time we woke up in the morning.

If you ever go to Maui, this is a sight you MUST see. Get there early to get a front row spot. It was 40 degrees at the top (10,000 feet), so bring warm clothes and a blanket. I had 3 blankets and was still shivering. Worth it. Look at this!

Haleakala Sunrise-2

I saved a healthier recipe for today. Hopefully you had something indulgent for breakfast over the weekend – did you try these yet?? – and are ready for something that won’t necessarily rot your teeth in the best way possible.

Popping in from the beach to say a quick hello…

Aloha! Thank you so much for all the well wishes on our honeymoon. This morning we went swimming with sea turtles and happened upon dozens of false killer whales and dolphins near the Kauai coast. Unbelievable! Tomorrow we are going hiking followed with a luau in the evening. It’s going to be hard leaving this weekend! However, returning means I’m reunited with this cuddly monster.

Oh, by the way… I’m typing this introduction with one of the best views in the world.

Pumpkin Pie Protein Smoothie.

Simply put, this protein packed smoothie is like drinkable pumpkin pie.

Good morning! This post has been scheduled to publish. Kevin and I are currently on our honeymoon until October 11th. I will not be able to answer recipe questions on this recipe or any recipes on my blog or social medias during my time off. I will get back to your comments and questions the week of Monday, October 13th. Thank you very much for your patience and understanding during this special time. Happy baking.

Pumpkin Pie Protein Smoothie - simply put, this protein packed smoothie is like drinkable pumpkin pie!

I recently swapped my standard glowing skin secret weapon for a creamy pumpkin spice protein smoothie. Velvety smooth cinnamon spiced goodness to make your muscles strong. And, if you’re anything like me, you can enjoy it in a wine glass to feel extra fancy.

;)

(At home in your sweatpants browsing Pinterest for more pumpkin recipes and later, searching for workouts to counteract all that pumpkin baking. This is autumn life.)

Pumpkin Pie Protein Smoothie - simply put, this protein packed smoothie is like drinkable pumpkin pie!

This smoothie tastes like you wrapped fall and Thanksgiving up in the palm of your hands and dropped it all into a blender. Or, better yet, as if you blended up a fat slice of grandma’s pumpkin pie.

Sunday Morning Eggs Benedict.

Savor the best part of the day with ultra comforting eggs benedict. Learn how to poach eggs and create this restaurant quality meal at home!

Eggs Benedict from scratch

It’s Friiiiiday. Let’s talk about weekend breakfasts for a sec. Are you a savory breakfast person or a sweet breakfast person? Veggie omelets with crispy hash browns or a stack of buttermilk pancakes? Cheesy quiche or cinnamon swirl crumb cake?

Or are you a “nothing because I’m still half asleep” person? That would be my husband. I don’t get it. I’m ravenous in the morning.

Back to what I was saying. I’m most definitely a sweets person… SURPRISE surprise. However, there is one exception. I would absolutely choose a muffin over a hard boiled egg any day, but when eggs benedict are involved… that. Always that.

Savor the best part of the day with ultra comforting eggs benedict. Learn how to poach eggs and create this restaurant quality meal at home!

Luxurious eggs benedict is one of life’s simple pleasures. It’s just guaranteed to make your mornings spectacular. I never usually take the time to prepare this brunch standard at home, especially since a bakery style muffin requires less thought and, well, chocolate.

Photo A Day, September.

Good morning! This post has been scheduled to publish – though I did add 1 new photo of Hawaii this morning. Kevin and I are currently on our honeymoon until October 11th. September Photo A Day-11

Welcome back to my Photo A Day posts! I’m scared because each month you’re slowly learning just how nerdy I am. Also: how much I love my dog, beer, and candles.

How is it October?

100 mile goal update: so, this summer I made a goal to run 100 miles each month June through August in an effort to look and feel my best on the wedding day. I kept it going strong this entire month, having run 110 miles by September 28th. Woo! I’m noticing huge improvements in my speed and endurance. Maybe a few races next year? I think I’ll keep this goal through December. Want to do the challenge with me?
