"Welcome to my home."

Wow, look at that cool cat house! But I'm afraid its product description raises more
questions than it answers.

The Only Heated Outdoor Cat House

—This is the only heated outdoor cat home that keeps
felines warm and comfy in cool temperatures. [As opposed to the heated
outdoor cat homes that don't keep the cat warm?

—A removable 20-watt heater inside the floor of the house
generates radiant heat that warms the floor yet is not hot to human touch. [Uh
. . . what about to a CAT'S touch?

—The house's front and back doors allow cats to come and go
as they please. [A fatal design flaw! This doesn't facilitate entrances and
exits that may proves DISPLEASING to the cat, like if a crazed badger or
lovelorn wombat tried to break and enter the premises.
]

But the best point to be made about this Heated Outdoor Cat
House comes from Robert Basler: "You know what else keeps felines warm and
comfy in cool temperatures? My own house, which I share with my pets instead of
making them live in the yard
."

The Mother of All Hot Wheels Tracks

The
2,000-foot long course goes through more than a dozen rooms, then continues outside, into the street, into the backyard, then back in the house. (I just got goose-bumps!)

That was one important decimal point.

The gentleman above is named Tom Boddingham. He ordered a pair of slippers. As Tom's feet are different sizes, he ordered one size-13 slipper and one size-14.5 slipper.

After his order was misread, Tom got one size-13 slipper and one size-1,450 slipper. And the big one makes a nice bed! (Story here.)

Reader gets a workout, smug fellow deplores it.

The guy who narrates this video is a strange person. First, who records people in the gym? Smug people and weirdos.

Second, so this guy is not really working out that hard. That just means he has a good book, and that's ALWAYS cooler than shooting strangers with your iPhone. Besides, this actually IS  good workout: You just know the reader's right arm is getting tired, but he sticks with it anyway!

"Spell checking your signs is sane"

I saw this sign over at Occupy Portland yesterday.

The sentiment is agreeable (yes, proofreading IS sane), and I liked the fact that the sign-maker would also spell-check your sign's rough draft for errors!

"Colic & Lice & Puberty"

Hey, that's the name of the band I played trombone for back in high school! (From the good people at  Metro Parent .)

Be brave, Blackberry users.

Take courage from the knowledge that your problem is shared throughout the Solar System. (Hey, it's impacting users on every planet!)

Behold the "Biblioteca Palafoxiana"!

Estantes de la Palafoxiana by linkogecko
The Palafoxiana Library is in Puebla, México. It was the first public library
founded in Latin America, way WAY back in 1646. And it's amazing! (Photo by linkogecko, via Book Mania.)

Why do they tempt me so?

I just got this message from Barnes & Noble:

Although I suppose there's no reason NOT to review my own
book. (Besides silly stuff like ethics and professionalism.) Hey, maybe I wouldn't give myself five stars!

Ah, who am I kidding?
