#Archetype: Chapter 6
On to Chapter 6! This particular one gave me the chills, and it had nothing to do with the snow.
I shivered in the courtyard, my feet buried in snow. My slippers did nothing to protect them from the icy feel, and my toes had long ago gone numb.
Victor Porch, the captain of the guard, paced in front of us, his dark eyes narrowed and his hands clasped behind his back. Unlike the large group of girls he looked at, he wore a fur-lined coat and boots.
“One of you,” he started, his voice startling m...

#Archetype: Chapter 5
Wow. I can’t believe how fast this month went! In any case, we’re approaching December 1st, which means another raffle giveaway of ARCHETYPE! And that means more teaser chapter images or music.
I’ve chosen another song for Chapter 5. I like this chapter because Emma begins to learn more about who she really is–or was.
Here’s a snippet.
“Run,” Toni told me. She pushed her spade into the soft earth and used her shoulder to push away some of the stray auburn hairs that had come loose from her bra...

#Archetype: Chapter 4
I’m back with the chapter 4 inspiration, and I have another song for you from Family Band called Night Song. But first, here’s your chapter 4 snippet:
“Stars, you say? Would you like to see them? I think we can arrange that.”
I feel a noticeable shift in my expression to one of excitement, and it is unfamiliar to my muscles. I like this emotion and wish I had cause to feel it every day. “Could you? Tonight?”
Dr. Travista chuckles. “Yes, of course. Why didn’t you just ask before?”
I want to say so...

#Archetype: Chapter 3
Welcome back! We’re up to chapter 3, and the November giveaway begins tomorrow! If you don’t make it tomorrow, no worries. You have until the 8th to stop back by and get your name in.
For Chapter 3, I’m sharing an artist who I listened to pretty frequently for both novels: William Fitzsimmons. One of the many songs is below. But first, the snippet:
Declan’s arms tighten. “You’re cold.”
“Yes. I miss the fall already.” I hate the winter. With winter comes snow. I hate the snow even more. One day I...

#Archetype: Chapter 2
Welcome back! This week I’ve started sharing inspirational images or music for every chapter in ARCHETYPE.
Come back here Friday (and the few days following) for a chance to win a signed copy of ARCHETYPE, due out February 6, 2014 from Dutton Books.
Image #2!

Perched on the edge of my bed, I lean into the bouquet of indigo flowers delivered earlier in the evening. I had admitted my love for them to Declan on our walk and he had them arranged. The petals add color to my otherwise lifeless room, w...

HARD TO HANDLE by Jessica Lemmon – book II in the Love in the Balance Series
I’ve recently fallen into reading all of the romance again, and there are few authors who fail me when this phase rolls around. One of them is my excellent, hysterical, and totally immature friend, Jessica Lemmon. She can, in one fell swoop, make you laugh aloud while turning up the steamy goodness.
While I loved Crickett and Shane in book 1–Tempting the Billionaire–I absolutely adored Sadie and Aiden. I went into HtH heartbroken from Can’t Let Go, the 1.5 novella (not unexpected, but… *sniffs...
