Fabulous Friday * Lasting Things
“The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because it’s only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on. If you can change the way people think. The way they see themselves. The way they see the world. You can change the way people live their lives. That’s the only lasting th...

Sense or see in your mind’s eye a tree, a central symbol in shamanic cosmology. Imagine for a moment that you are the tree. Trees have intricate root systems penetrating deep into the earth. See and feel the roots penetrating deep, deep into the soil, and down into the core of the earth. A tree pulls water and nutrients fro...

Ep. 29 Old Soul Sojourn with Jonathan Masiulionis
In this episode my conversation, begins with Jonathan Masiulionis of Empowered Publicity, sharing his very interesting story of how he went from wanting to be a sportscaster to becoming a book publicist for authors of children’s books and inspirational books. Interestingly, this path meanders through the world of professional wrestling and places him in a children’s hospital with the unique opportunity to grant some very ill children with one of their dying wishes, to meat a professional wrestle...
Wisdom Wednesday * Expanding Your NOW
We begin with now. ~Ira Progoff
There is a huge focus on NOW in the Self-Help section of any bookstore. With titles like The Power of Now and The Now Habit, Be Here Now, and Now: The Physics of Time, there is no end to materials we can read about being present and mindful.
Interestingly, while reading Ira Progoff’s book At a Journal Workshop, he presents a different idea of Now than I have yet encountered elsewhere. It is a Now of orientation to the conditions and quality of one’s life. It is an...

Intuitive Tuesday * Your Birthright
“Practice listening to your intuition, your inner voice; ask questions; be curious; see what you see; hear what you hear; and then act upon what you know to be true. These intuitive powers were given to your soul at birth.”
― Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype
A birthright is something bestowed on us at birth. A gift, and perhaps more importantly a responsibility.
Pinkola Estés says we are given our intuitive powers at birth*, and...

Medicine Monday * Wounding and Healing
Wounding and healing are not opposites. They’re part of the same thing. It is our wounds that enable us to be compassionate with the wounds of others. It is our limitations that make us kind to the limitations of other people. It is our loneliness that helps us to to find other people or to even know they’re alone with an illness. I think I have served people perfectly with parts of myself I used to be ashamed of.
Rachel Naomi Remen
I. Love. This. Quote.
For so many reasons. For me the intertw...

The Power of Sacred Dialogue
Prayer is probably the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the words Sacred Dialogue. Unfortunately, most of my experience with prayer was always a monologue. I didn’t understand the power of mantra and repetitive words and phrases for meditation. And I certainly didn’t know I could hear God if I made my prayer more conversational.
So Yes, Prayer is Sacred Dialogue. But there are other ways to look at Sacred Dialogue as well.
Sacred Dialogue is a divine conversa...

What is Old Soul Medicine? Part II
In Part I of What is Old Soul Medicine, I wrote about the difference between healing and curing, as knowing the difference is crucial to understanding Old Soul Medicine.
Now I will expand on what Old Soul Medicine is. In Part III, I will give examples
Old Soul Medicine is the concept of medicine in everything. Everything has something to teach us.
Old Soul Medicine is evident when there is…
a desire for healing
a belief that one can heal
a willingness to apply meaning to medicine.
Medicine is ...

Fabulous Friday * Destiny’s Agony
“There is a legend about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on the face of the earth. From the moment it leaves the nest it searches for a thorn tree, and does not rest until it has found one. Then, singing among the savage branches, it impales itself upon the longest, sharpest spine. And, dying, it rises above its own agony to outcarol the lark and the nightingale. One superlative song, existence the price. But the whole world stills to listen, and Go...

Thoughtful Thursday * Limitation of Mind
The mind that perceives the limitation is the limitation.
~Buddha
WHOA!! The limitation is my mind. It always has been.
When we ask ourselves, “how do I get out of my own way? it seems that the answer is to get past the mind. In my work, I never divorce myself or my clients from the mind, but we quiet it for a while so that insights and possibilities can pop up.
It’s kind of like the mind is a boulder standing in our way and for all our thinking and trying, we just can’t see all the treasures th...
