Las Pistas Sobre Dónde Deberías Estar Sirviendo

 

“Así como el rostro se refleja en el agua, el corazón refleja a la persona tal como es”. Proverbios 27:19 (NVT)

La Biblia usa el término “corazón” para describir el conjunto de deseos, esperanzas, intereses, ambiciones, sueños y afectos que tienes. Tu corazón representa la fuente de todas tus motivaciones —lo que amas hacer y lo que más te importa. Aún en nuestra época, todavía usamos esa palabra en el mismo sentido cuando decimos, “Te amo con todo mi corazón”.

La Biblia dice que lo que hay en tu corazón es lo que realmente eres: “Así como el rostro se refleja en el agua, el corazón refleja a la persona tal como es” Proverbios 27:19 (NTV). No eres lo que otros piensan de ti o lo que las circunstancias te obligan a ser. Tu corazón es tu verdadero yo. El determina por qué dices las cosas que dices, el por qué sientes de tal forma y por qué actúas en la forma en la que lo haces.

Físicamente, a cada uno de nosotros el corazón le late de manera única. Al igual que cada uno tiene huellas digitales únicas, iris único y voz única, nuestros corazones laten en patrones algo diferentes. Es sorprendente que entre todos los billones de personas que han vivido, nadie tiene un pulso exactamente como el tuyo.

De la misma manera, Dios nos ha dado a cada uno un latido emocional único que se acelera cuando pensamos en temas, actividades o circunstancias que nos interesan. Instintivamente nos importan algunas cosas y otras no tanto. Estas son pistas de donde debes estar sirviendo.

Otra palabra para corazón es pasión. Hay ciertos temas que apasionan profundamente y otros que no te interesan para nada. Hay experiencias que te encienden y capturan tu atención, mientras otras te apagan o te aburren terriblemente. Esas experiencias revelan la naturaleza de tu corazón, así que debes estar pendiente a esos estímulos internos que te dirigen al ministerio que Dios procura que tengas.

Cuando estabas creciendo, pudiste haber descubierto que estabas intensamente interesado en algunos temas que a nadie más en tu familia les interesaba.

¿De dónde vinieron estos intereses? ¡Vinieron de Dios!

Dios tiene un propósito al darte estos intereses instintivos. Tu latido emocional es la clave para entender tu forma para el servicio. No ignores tus intereses; considera como podrían ser usados para la Gloria de Dios. Hay una razón por la que amas hacer esas cosas.

Better to Be Poor and Honest

God does not bless dishonesty. Proverbs 16:11 says, “The Lord demands fairness in every business deal” (TLB). That includes wages, salaries, and taxes. If you want God’s blessing on your finances, you must be honest about them. The Bible also says, “It is better to be poor and honest than to be foolish and tell lies” (Proverbs 19:1 NCV).

Why is this an important principle? When you’re going through a season of financial stress, the temptation is enormous to toss out your integrity and to cheat in order to make ends meet. It may mean you shade the truth on a sale or exaggerate or deflate the value of something. It may mean you claim a false deduction on your taxes.

You always lose when you make those kinds of choices. You always lose in the long run when you lose your integrity. And that’s what you are taking to heaven: your character, not your money.

Profit that is made dishonestly brings trouble with it. Why? If you rip off people, other people are going to rip you off. If you cheat others, you’re going to get cheated in life. What you sow, you will reap.

This decision to be honest in your finances is not something you make once for all. It’s a daily decision. You’re going to be tempted to lie. Sometimes honesty costs you. Have you learned that? Sometimes it costs to tell the truth on a form.

But God says that if you’re faithful to him in this, you’ll never have to worry about your financial needs.

Pray for It Before You Pay for It

Are you in financial need and waiting for God to help?

God has promised to meet your financial needs. He’s just waiting for you to ask for his help! The Lord never shuts his storehouse until you shut your mouth.

One of the reasons we see so few miracles in our lives is because we just don’t ask for them. Instead of living a life based on Christ, we live a life based on credit. When we have something we need, instead of stopping and asking God for it, before we even think about asking God for it, we just use that credit card. We trust credit instead of Christ.

If you want to see God work in your life, pray for it before you pay for it. Do you pray about major purchases before you make them? Or do you just take care of it with your credit card? Every time you use that credit card before praying about it, you’re short-circuiting a possible miracle in your life. Before you charge a purchase, why don’t you ask God about it first?

God is not going to give you everything you pray for, but there are some things he does want to give you just to do a miracle in your life. Many people have never had a financial answer to prayer because they’ve never prayed specifically.

“Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy will be the fullest possible joy” (John 16:24 NCV). Do you know why God wants you to learn to ask for things in prayer? So he can give them, and so you’ll be full of joy. God is a loving Father. He’s not some ogre sitting in the sky, waiting to make your life a bummer. He wants to bless your life! You just have to ask.

Necesitas una Fuente de Poder Externa

 

“¡Miserable de mí! ¿quién me librará de este cuerpo de muerte?”. Romanos 7:24 (RVC)

¿Ya te disté cuenta que muchas veces eres tu peor enemigo? Son tus propias reacciones, tus propios miedos y tus propias insuficiencias lo que causa que actúes tontamente. Sé que es así conmigo.

Necesito ser rescatado de mí mismo porque hay muchas cosas acerca de mí que no me gustan —cosas que hubiera deseado hacer diferente, cosas que me gustaría cambiar. Pero no puedo cambiarlas, al menos no por mí mismo. Necesito una fuente de poder externa.

Tal vez estés pensando “Yo puedo cambiar”. Odio decir esto, pero no puedes. Cada Año Nuevo haces una lista de resoluciones, y para el final de enero, esta lista va a parar en el basurero. ¿Por qué? Porque no puedes cambiar por ti mismo; necesitas el poder de Dios. Necesitas un Salvador, alguien que pueda hacer los cambios que no puedes hacer por ti mismo.

La verdad es que, si eres honesto sobre esto, algunas veces sientes que tu vida está fuera de control. Es un sentimiento muy común. ¡Bienvenido a la raza humana!

El apóstol Pablo se sintió así hace unos 2000 años atrás. Él dice esto en la Biblia: “Pero también me sucede otra cosa: hay algo dentro de mí, que lucha contra lo que creo que es bueno. Trato de obedecer la ley de Dios, pero me siento como en una cárcel, donde lo único que puedo hacer es pecar. Sinceramente, deseo obedecer la ley de Dios, pero no puedo dejar de pecar porque mi cuerpo es débil para obedecerla. ¡Pobre de mí! ¿Quién me librará de este cuerpo, que me hace pecar y me separa de Dios? ¡Le doy gracias a Dios, porque sé que Jesucristo me ha librado!” Romanos 7:24-25 (TLA). ¡Esa es la respuesta!

Tal vez estés buscando eso que te brinde satisfacción, significado y paz a tu vida. Pero si no estás buscando a Jesús para la salvación, estás buscando en los lugares equivocados y por eso estás frustrado.

Algunos de nosotros pensamos que, si tan solo nos casáramos, o tuviéramos cierto trabajo o promoción, o alcanzáramos cierto nivel de riqueza, o tuviéramos un bebé —las cosas serían geniales. Muchas personas están buscando salvación en un libro de auto ayuda, en terapia, en una tendencia, una dieta o en unas vacaciones.

Si estás haciendo esto, estás buscando en los lugares equivocados.

La respuesta no está en tus circunstancias. No está en un lugar, un programa o una pastilla. La respuesta es una persona: Jesucristo. Fuiste creado por Dios y para Dios, y hasta que lo entiendas, tu vida no tendrá ningún sentido.

Your Kids Need You to Be Their Cheerleader

The world is so negative that the last thing kids need when they come home is more negativity. Colossians 3:21 says, “Do not nag your children. If you are too hard to please, they may want to stop trying” (NCV).

Are you an unpleasable parent? If your kids get C’s, do you want B’s—only to want straight A’s when they get B’s? Do you really want them to give up, like the Bible says they might? Unpleasable parents produce insecure children.

So how do you raise confident kids? The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:7, “Love patiently accepts all things. It always trusts, always hopes, and always endures” (NCV). If you want to raise confident kids, you’ve got to build them up more than you tear them down. You’ve got to give more cheers than jeers.

Many parents think, “If I balance it out and give an equal amount of positive to the negative, it will be okay.” No! You need to give about 10 praises for every negative you give. Why? Because the negative is what you remember. If you were to get 10 compliments and one criticism, which one would you go home and remember? If I get 10 cards that say, “That sermon really helped me out a lot” and one that says, “You’re off the wall!” which one do you think I dwell on the most?

You’ve got to overemphasize the positive, because you inevitably have to do the negative.

All children need somebody in their corner, somebody who’s their cheerleader and believes in them and says, “I know you can do it. I believe in you. I think you’re terrific. You’re the best. Go for it! I’m behind you. I know you can make it.” Kids need the confidence that only a parent can give.

Dios te Escogió para Su Familia

 

“Por su gran misericordia nos ha hecho nacer de nuevo por la resurrección de Jesucristo. Esto nos da una esperanza viva”. 1 Pedro 1:3 (DHH)

Dios dice que tu salvación no es accidental. Él te escogió muchísimo antes de que tú le escogieras a Él. Él tomó la iniciativa. La Biblia dice en 1 Pedro 1:2, “a quienes Dios el Padre había escogido anteriormente conforme a su propósito” (DHH).

¿Por qué Dios habría de escogerte a ti o a mí para ser parte de su familia? Porque es un Dios de amor. Es un Dios de gracia. Mientras más comprendes la gracia, más te asombras ante ella. Dios te escogió. ¿Lo mereces? De ninguna manera. ¿Mereces ir al cielo? ¡No! ¿Eres suficientemente bueno para ser parte de la familia de Dios? No. Él te escogió. ¡Y esta sí que es una buena noticia!

¿Sobre qué base te escogió? “Por su gran misericordia nos ha hecho nacer de nuevo por la resurrección de Jesucristo. Esto nos da una esperanza viva” 1 Pedro 1:3 (DHH).

Dios te escogió sobre la base de Su misericordia, no por tus logros. Jamás llegarás a ganarte esa elección. Nunca la merecerás. No puedes trabajar lo suficiente para conseguirla. No puedes llegar a ser suficientemente perfecto. Es solo por la gracia y misericordia de Dios que el Creador del universo dice: “Te quiero en mi familia”.

Trust Your Kids with Responsibility

Kids need experiences that stretch them, reveal their talents, and develop their lives for ministry. They need challenges where they develop responsibility. One of the most important life skills all of us have to learn is responsibility.

How do you teach responsibility to your children? There’s only one way: Give them the opportunity. Trust them with responsibility. Will they make mistakes? Absolutely. You did, too, when you were growing up. Will they sometimes be irresponsible? Yes. But if you hold on to responsibility, you’re actually hurting your children. The goal of parenting from the moment your kids are born is to move them from parent control in the early years to self-control in the middle years to God’s control over their lives.

That means you have to give up control! When we take responsibility for people, we take it away from people. If you treat your children as babies and don’t let them grow up, you’ll have to diaper them the rest of your life. And you’re filling the world with another codependent person.

Many parents have said, “If I had it all to do over again, I’d do less for my children and teach them to do more for themselves.” The only way we grow is by being given challenges that stretch us, develop us, and build responsibility in our lives.

The Bible says, “Whoever can be trusted with a little can also be trusted with a lot . . . If you cannot be trusted with things that belong to someone else, who will give you things of your own?” (Luke 16:10, 12 NCV).

Kids respond to responsibility. Having talked to many parents over the years and seen this in my own life, I believe that it’s far better to err on the side of giving too much responsibility than not trusting your kids enough. They’re going to make mistakes either way! Your goal is to produce a person who walks not just under his own self-control but also under God’s control.

Así de tanto te Ama Dios

“Dios es amor”. 1 Juan 4:8b (NVI)

La Biblia dice que Dios es amor. No dice que Dios tiene amor; dice que Dios es amor. El amor es su naturaleza. Dios es amor.

Dios creó el universo entero. Él creó este planeta; creó la raza humana; entonces, Él te creó a ti porque te ama.

Dios te creó como un objeto de su amor. Él te hizo para poder amarte y para que tú lo ames. El amor de Dios por ti es la razón por la que tu corazón está latiendo en este momento; es la razón por la que estás respirando.

La buena noticia es que Dios te ama tanto en tus días buenos como en tus días malos. Él te ama cuando puedes sentir su amor, y te ama cuando parece que no puedes sentir su amor. Él te ama, creas o no que mereces su amor.

No hay nada que puedas hacer para que Dios deje de amarte. Podrías intentarlo, pero simplemente no puedes hacerlo, porque su amor por ti se basa en su carácter y no en cualquier cosa que hagas, digas o sientas.

“Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo que dio a su Hijo unigénito, para que todo el que cree en él no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna” Juan 3:16 (NVI).

Cuando Jesús extendió sus brazos en la cruz, estaba diciendo: “Tanto te amo. Te amo tanto que duele. Te amo tanto que voy a morir por ti, para no tener que vivir sin ti”.

El amor de Dios sobrepasa todo conocimiento humano, y es difícil para cualquiera de nosotros comprender la anchura y la longitud, la altura y la profundidad de su amor por cada uno de nosotros (Efesios 3:17-19).

Celebrate with Your Kids!

Kids need celebration!

That’s just a fancy word for fun. Families ought to have fun! The home should be a place to play. This is a major fault in many, many homes where the parents are basically good parents and are watching out for their kids, but they don’t have enough fun. They’re too busy. They come home with a “to do” list after work is over. All that stuff has to be done, and they just don’t have time for fun.

Do you endure your kids or do you enjoy them? Kids need celebration.

“People ought to enjoy every day of their lives, no matter how long they live” (Ecclesiastes 11:8 NCV).

When my kids were growing up, we had what we liked to call “Daddy’s Magical Mystery Tours.” Periodically, I shook up the whole schedule and said, “Forget the routine; we’re going to go have fun.” I would even wake up the kids in the middle of the night and put them in the car and do something outrageous—on a school night! So what if they miss a day of school? They’re going to remember that event. They’re going to remember when I got them up really early in the morning and let them eat French toast that I colored green.

Have fun with your kids! Enjoy them! No single day out of routine is going to make or break their lives. But a single special event that is crazy and fun will make a memory your kids will never forget.

If you’re not celebrating and having fun with your kids at home, don’t be surprised when they decide to spend less time there later in life. If you don’t have fun with your kids and really enjoy them, don’t be surprised when they grow up and move out and don’t want to come back very often.

Don’t just endure your kids. Enjoy them!

Dios Está De Tu Parte

 

“Pero el ángel los tranquilizó. No tengan miedo —dijo—. Les traigo buenas noticias que darán gran alegría a toda la gente”. Lucas 2:10 (NTV)

Saber que Dios está de tu parte cambiará toda tu perspectiva de la vida. Vas a dejar de pensar en Dios como alguien que mira desde el cielo, listo para gritar “te atrapé” cada vez que te equivocas.

Dios está de tu parte, para el éxito en tu vida; Él te creó con un propósito, y Él quiere que tengas éxito. Es Dios, el Creador, quien medirá tu éxito en la vida y nadie más.

¡Esta es una muy buena noticia!

Esto significa que no tienes que tener miedo de Dios, porque Dios está de tu parte. Sin embargo, algunas personas tienen tanto miedo de Dios que se ponen nerviosos tan sólo hablando de Él. ¿Sabes por qué? Porque se sienten culpables, y luego piensan que, “Si me acerco a Dios, Él me va a sermonear. Él me va a recordar todas las cosas que he hecho mal, y entonces voy a sentirme aún peor”.

Nada podría estar más lejos de la verdad. Jesús dijo: “No he venido al mundo para condenarlos, sino para salvarlos”. En efecto, Jesús estaba diciendo: “No he venido a regañarte; vine a salvarte”.

Y si Dios es por nosotros, ¿quién contra nosotros?

Jesús vino a salvarnos, no para asustarnos. Es por eso que cuando el ángel estaba diciendo a los pastores acerca del nacimiento de Jesús, lo primero que dijo es: “No tengan miedo”.

De hecho, cuando Dios envía un mensaje a la gente en la Biblia, no es raro ver que las primeras palabras fueran: “No tengas miedo” Hay 365 mensajes de Dios en la Biblia que comienzan con una frase como “No tengan miedo” En otras palabras, todos los días del año, se puede leer un mensaje de Dios que dice, en efecto: “no tienes que tener miedo. Estoy de tu parte; estoy contigo; Te amo”.

¡Dios está de tu parte!
