El Valor de la Fe en un Mundo sin Fe

“Les digo, ¡él pronto les hará justicia! Pero cuando el Hijo del Hombre regrese, ¿a cuántas personas con fe encontrará en la tierra?” Lucas 18:8 (NTV)

Vivimos en un mundo cada vez más infiel. Es un mundo secular, de valores que cambian, un mundo egoísta. Si Jesús regresara hoy, ¿cuántas personas de fe encontraría? ¿serías uno de ellos?

La Biblia deja en claro que Dios está buscando personas fieles. En 2 Crónicas 16:9 dice: “Los ojos del Señor recorren toda la tierra para fortalecer a los que tienen el corazón totalmente comprometido con él” (NTV).

Dios está buscando personas fieles porque quiere bendecirlas. Quiere mostrar su amor a través de su gran poder. Nuestra fidelidad es la clave para desbloquear su bendición en nuestras vidas.

Jesús dijo: “—Que se haga con ustedes conforme a su fe“ Mateo 9:29 (NVI). Dios quiere bendecirte en todas las áreas de tu vida: —Tu familia, tu carrera, tus finanzas, tu salud, tus relaciones. Puede que esta bendición no se parezca a lo que esperamos, pero Dios lo está haciendo en nuestras vidas. Y lo hará de acuerdo a tu fe. Si tienes una gran fe, tendrás una gran bendición. Si tienes poca fe, recibirás una bendición pequeña. Pero si no tienes fe, la bendición de Dios no vendrá a tu vida.

Lamentablemente, las personas fieles que realmente confían en Dios y viven para Cristo día tras día, son difíciles de encontrar. La Biblia dice: “Son muchos los que proclaman su lealtad, ¿pero ¿quién puede hallar a alguien digno de confianza?“ Proverbios 20:6 (NVI).

Cuando el pecado entró al mundo con Adán y Eva, todos fuimos afectados. Ninguno de nosotros hace lo correcto todo el tiempo. Pero la fe es la clave de la victoria. Cuanto mayor sea nuestra fe, más victoria experimentaremos en nuestras vidas.

“Porque todo el que ha nacido de Dios vence al mundo. Esta es la victoria que vence al mundo: nuestra fe“ 1 Juan 5:4 (NVI).

Humility Builds Relationships

“Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves . . . You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to."

Philippians 2:3, 5-6 (NLT)

The ability to be humble is a relationship builder. What is humility? It’s when you honor others above yourself, not always demanding or clinging to your rights.

Pride, on the other hand, destroys relationships—and it shows up in a lot of different ways. It can make you critical, judgmental, competitive, stubborn, and unforgiving. Proverbs 16:18 says, “Pride leads to destruction; a proud attitude brings ruin” (NCV).

Pride is also self-deceiving. When you have a problem with pride, you struggle to see it in your life. But everyone else can see it in you!

What does pride look like in a relationship? One, you always offer advice but never ask for it. Two, you can’t admit when you’ve had a tough week. Everybody else is saying, “Yeah, this last week was tough.” But you can’t seem to admit you have any problems.

But how does humility play out in a relationship? Notice the five relationship builders in 1 Peter 3:8: “Live in harmony, be sympathetic, love each other, have compassion, and be humble” (GW). The first four are really built on the fifth one: Be humble. And it’s an excellent model for relationships.

How does humility happen in your life? It happens by letting Jesus control your thoughts, heart, attitudes, and reactions. Growing in humility has to include Jesus.

The basic law of relationships is this: You tend to become like the people you spend time with.  If you spend time with grumpy people, you get grumpier. If you spend time with happy people, you get happier. If you want to have more humility, spend time with Jesus Christ in prayer and reading his Word. Just talk to him. He is humble and wants a relationship with you.

Growing in humility may seem like a tall order, but it’s possible with Jesus. Take the first step toward humility and become a relationship builder today.

No te Rindas cuando los Tiempos se pongan Difíciles

“Es por esto que nunca nos damos por vencidos. Aunque nuestro cuerpo está muriéndose, nuestro espíritu va renovándose cada día. Pues nuestras dificultades actuales son pequeñas y no durarán mucho tiempo. Sin embargo, ¡nos producen una gloria que durará para siempre y que es de mucho más peso que las dificultades! Así que no miramos las dificultades que ahora vemos; en cambio, fijamos nuestra vista en cosas que no pueden verse. Pues las cosas que ahora podemos ver pronto se habrán ido, pero las cosas que no podemos ver permanecerán para siempre”. 2 Corintios 4:16-18 (NTV)

¿Por qué pasan cosas malas a las personas buenas? ¿Por qué tenemos que sufrir? ¿Por qué la vida es tan difícil a veces?

Es difícil entenderlo, Dios puede usar tu dolor para Su propósito. No te sorprendas si Él está usando los tiempos difíciles en tu vida para fortalecer tu fidelidad.

Las personas fieles se mantienen cuando otras personas eligen rendirse. Las personas fieles son diligentes y están determinadas. Ellas son persistentes. Ellas cambian su perspectiva y enfoque hacia las promesas de Dios en Su Palabra.

En 2 Corintios 4, Pablo dice que necesitas la perspectiva correcta cuando pasas por un problema. Si quieres persistir, no mires al problema temporal. Mira a la recompensa a largo plazo. No mires al dolor temporal; mira la ganancia a largo plazo. No te enfoques en el corto tiempo, “¿Qué está pasando conmigo ahora?” en vez de eso, mira al carácter que estás construyendo porque no te has rendido. Te estás manteniendo.

Dios está más interesado en lo que te estás convirtiendo que en lo que logras.

Si estás enfrentando tiempos difíciles justo ahora, te reto a escribir este versículo en una tarjeta y memorizarlo: “Así que no nos cansemos de hacer el bien. A su debido tiempo, cosecharemos numerosas bendiciones si no nos damos por vencidos” Gálatas 6:9 (NTV).

Oro para que te animes a continuar. Dios está trabajando en ti y para ti, en el tiempo justo y de las formas correctas. ¡Serás recompensado por tu fidelidad!

Selflessness Builds Relationships

“Look out for one another's interests, not just for your own."

Philippians 2:4 (GNT)

Selflessness brings out the best in others. It builds relationships. What does it mean to be selfless? It means you think a little less of yourself and a little more of others.

The opposite of selflessness is selfishness. It’s the number one cause of conflict and arguments. The Bible says, “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don’t get it” (James 4:1-2 NIV).

Self-centeredness destroys relationships.

One night I got into bed three seconds before Kay did. When she got into bed, she asked if I locked all the doors. But in those three seconds, I pretended to be almost asleep and whispered, “No.” She then got up and locked all the doors. There’s a word for what I did—selfish, pure and simple.

The problem is, being selfish is human nature. We naturally think about our interests, our hurts, how we look, and how we feel. Even culture tells us: “Do what you think is best for you.” But the Bible says, “Look out for one another’s interests, not just for your own” (Philippians 2:4 GNT).

What happens when you “look out for one another’s interests, not just for your own”? Not only will it transform your relationships—it will transform people. It causes the other person to change because you’re not the same person anymore, allowing them to relate to you in a different way.

I’ve seen it many times: When you treat cranky, unlikable people with kindness, instead of treating them the way they deserve, they transform into nice people.

The greatest lesson in life is learning to be unselfish—but it won’t happen overnight. It’s going to take the rest of your life.

The good news is, God doesn’t leave you all alone to learn how to be selfless. Romans 8:26 says, “The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness” (NLT).

Never stop making the effort to be more selfless. God’s Spirit is with you to help you break the cycle of selfishness! And it’s then will you see transformation in all your relationships.

Trata Tus Tesoros como un Fideicomiso

“¡Hiciste bien, siervo bueno y fiel! En lo poco has sido fiel; te pondré a cargo de mucho más. ¡Ven a compartir la felicidad de tu señor!” Mateo 25:21 (NVI)

En realidad, no poseemos nada durante nuestro breve tiempo en la tierra. Dios solo nos lo presta mientras estamos aquí. La Biblia dice, “A Dios pertenece la tierra. Suyo es cuanto ser habita en el mundo” Salmo 24:1 (NBV).

El primer trabajo que Dios le dio a los humanos fue administrar y cuidar de las “cosas” de Dios en la tierra. Este rol no ha terminado. Es una parte de nuestro propósito actual. Todo lo que disfrutamos debe ser tratado como algo que Dios dejó a nuestro cuidado.

Hace años, una pareja nos permitió a mi esposa y a mí, disfrutar de su hermosa casa frente a la playa, durante unas vacaciones. Se nos dijo “úsenlo como si fuera suyo”, ¡y así lo hicimos! Nadamos en la piscina, comimos la comida del refrigerador, usamos las toallas de baño y los platos, ¡e incluso saltamos de alegría en las camas!

Pero sabíamos todo el tiempo que en realidad no era nuestro, así que tuvimos un especial cuidado de todo. Disfrutamos los beneficios de usar la casa sin ser sus dueños. Fuimos administradores responsables del regalo que se nos había dado.

Jesús a menudo se refería a la vida como algo prestado y contó muchas historias para ilustrar nuestra responsabilidad hacia Dios. En la historia de los talentos, un hombre de negocios evalúa la responsabilidad de cada siervo y lo recompensa acorde. Él dice, “¡Hiciste bien, siervo bueno y fiel! En lo poco has sido fiel; te pondré a cargo de mucho más. ¡Ven a compartir la felicidad de tu señor!” Mateo 25:21 (NVI).

Al final de tu vida en la tierra, serás evaluado y recompensado de acuerdo con qué tan bien manejaste lo que Dios te confió. Eso significa todo lo que haces –incluso tareas diarias simples– tiene implicaciones eternas. Si tratas todo como algo que se te confió, Dios promete tres recompensas en la eternidad.

Primero, recibirás la afirmación de Dios: Él dirá, “¡Hiciste bien, siervo bueno y fiel!”, en seguida recibirás una promoción y se te dará una responsabilidad mayor en la eternidad: “Te pondré a cargo de mucho más”. Entonces serás honrado con una celebración: “¡Ven a compartir la felicidad de tu señor!”

No habrá mayor alegría, y está disponible para todos los fieles administradores de los dones de Dios.

Your Commitments Shape Your Life

“Since everything around us is going to melt away, what holy, godly lives we should be living!"

2 Peter 3:11 (TLB)

Your commitments shape your life more than anything else. Your commitments can develop you—or they can destroy you. But either way, they will define you.

Tell me what you’re committed to, and I’ll tell you what your life will look like in 20 years. You become whatever you’re committed to.

It’s around the idea of commitment where most people miss God’s purpose for their lives. Many people are afraid to commit to anything, so they just drift through life. Others make half-hearted commitments to competing values, which leads to frustration and mediocrity. Others make a full commitment to worldly goals, such as becoming wealthy or famous, and they end up disappointed and bitter.

Every choice has eternal consequences, so you need to choose wisely: “Since everything around us is going to melt away, what holy, godly lives we should be living!” (2 Peter 3:11 TLB).

The first wise decision you need to make is to follow Jesus. You don’t have to understand all the implications of that decision when you make it. You simply need to respond to his invitation and make a commitment to follow him.

Then, as you follow Jesus, commit to the things that build a holy, godly life. Christlikeness will come from making Christlike commitments.

El Dinero no es tu Problema más Grande

“Su Padre celestial ya conoce todas sus necesidades. Busquen el reino de Dios por encima de todo lo demás y lleven una vida justa, y él les dará todo lo que necesiten”. Mateo 6:32-33 (NTV)

Cada vez que nos preocupamos por el dinero, estamos actuando como si no creyéramos en Dios. Es una forma de decir: “todo depende de mí”. Eso no está en la Biblia.

La preocupación es una luz de advertencia de que dudamos del amor de Dios. Sin embargo, la Biblia dice que Dios “Ha dado alimento a los que le temen; recordará su pacto para siempre” Salmo 111:5 (LBLA).

Y el libro de Romanos nos dice que Dios envió a su Hijo, Jesucristo, a morir en la cruz para que pague por tu salvación. Si Dios te ama lo suficiente como para enviar a su propio Hijo a morir por ti, seguramente te ama lo suficiente como para encargarse de tus facturas.

Dios resolvió tu mayor problema cuando te salvó, por lo que cualquier otro problema es menor en comparación. La conclusión es realmente esta: ¿crees que Dios hará lo que dice que hará, que te proveerá?

¿Estás dispuesto a pedirle a Dios las cosas que necesitas, en lugar de salir y cobrar por ellas?

¿Estás dispuesto a aprender a estar contento?

¿Estás dispuesto a adorar con tu diezmo como Dios lo ha mandado y creer que Él se encargará de tus necesidades?

¿Estás dispuesto a vivir con integridad y ser honesto en tus finanzas?

¿Estás dispuesto a confiar en Jesucristo completamente en cada área de tu vida?

Si te tomas en serio ser liberado de los temores financieros, debes elegir hacer lo que Dios te ha dicho claramente que hagas. Lo ha expuesto en su Palabra. Él dijo: “Haré esto, la promesa, si obedeces la premisa”.

Elige hoy ser un fiel administrador del dinero y los recursos que tienes para que Dios pueda usarte para sus propósitos.

Spiritual Growth Begins with a Decision

“God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in love—like Christ in everything."

Ephesians 4:15 (The Message)

God wants you to grow up.

The Bible says, “We are not meant to remain as children” (Ephesians 4:14 PHILLIPS). Your heavenly Father’s goal for you is to mature and develop the characteristics of Jesus Christ, living a life of love and humble service.

Yet many Christians grow older but never grow up. They’re stuck in perpetual spiritual infancy, remaining in diapers and booties. One reason is because they never intended to grow.

Spiritual growth is not automatic; it takes an intentional commitment. You must want to grow, decide to grow, make an effort to grow, and persist in growing.

Discipleship is a fancy word for spiritual growth; it’s the process of becoming like Christ. And it always begins with a decision.

Matthew 9 tells of Jesus calling some of his first disciples: “‘Follow me and be my disciple,’ Jesus said to him. So Matthew got up and followed him” (Matthew 9:9 NLT).

When the first disciples chose to follow Jesus, they didn’t understand all the implications of their decision. They simply responded to Jesus’ invitation. They decided to follow him.

That’s all you need to get started too: Decide today to become a disciple.

Talk It Over

Think of the moment when you chose to follow Jesus. What did you understand about what it meant to be a believer? What did you not realize?
What are some of the characteristics of Jesus that God has been developing in you?
How do you want God to work in your life? Take some time to pray and ask God to grow you in these areas. And ask for trust and patience as he does it in his time.

Have you trusted God’s promise of salvation?

Before you start growing in Christ-likeness, you must first trust him for your salvation. If you’re ready to commit your life to Jesus, then pray this prayer:

“I confess my sin, and I believe that you are God, my Savior. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning every part of my life over to you. I want to follow you and do what you tell me to do.

“Jesus, I am grateful for your love and your sacrifice that makes it possible for me to join you in heaven. I know I don’t deserve it. And I thank you that I don’t have to earn or work for my salvation, because I know that is impossible. I want to live the rest of my life as your disciple; I want to serve you instead of serving myself. I humbly commit my life to you, and I ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Pídele Ayuda a Dios por tus Finanzas

“Y este mismo Dios quien me cuida suplirá todo lo que necesiten, de las gloriosas riquezas que nos ha dado por medio de Cristo Jesús”. Filipenses 4:19 (NTV)

Filipenses 4:19 es una promesa que lo abarca todo respecto a la provisión. Nota las dos palabras: “suplirá todo”, no dice, “tal vez suplirá tus necesidades”. Dice, “suplirá todo lo que necesites”. Está escrito como un hecho. Dios está poniendo su carácter y su reputación en ello.

Entonces el versículo dice, “Dios… suplirá todo”, no dice, “Dios suplirá algunas de tus necesidades”, dice que tiene todo cubierto.

Ahora, no dice, “Dios suplirá toda tu codicia”. Hay una gran diferencia entre necesidades y deseos. Si eres un padre, ¿Le das a tus hijos todo lo que quieren? Espero que no. No lo haces porque los amas –y tu padre celestial te ama. Él no te va a dar todo lo que quieres, porque si lo hiciera, estarías muy malcriado.

Él no te dará todo lo que quieres, pero te dará lo que necesites.

Entonces, ¿por qué tienes necesidades financieras? ¿Falló Dios? ¿Mintió? ¿Exageró?

¡No! Con cada promesa, hay una premisa; hay condiciones y requerimientos. Cuando Dios hace una promesa, Él dice, “Haré mi parte, tú haz tu parte”. Los principios financieros son claramente puestos para nosotros en Su Palabra. La Biblia discute muchos aspectos de la salud financiera, incluyendo los principios para ahorrar, gastar, dar, invertir y administrar. Dios te ha dado todo lo que necesitas para la estabilidad financiera.

Pero primero, necesitas pedir su ayuda. Jesús dice, “No lo han hecho antes. Pidan en mi nombre y recibirán y tendrán alegría en abundancia” Juan 16:24 (NTV).

Muchas personas dependen más de su tarjeta de crédito que de Jesucristo. Aquí hay una buena regla: Antes de pagar por ello, ora por ello. Dale a Dios una oportunidad de proveer antes de que hagas el cargo. Pídele sabiduría para tomar una buena decisión financiera.

¿Por qué Dios quiere que pidas? para poder darte, ¿por qué Dios quiere darte? para que puedas recibir, ¿por qué Él quiere que recibas? para que estés lleno de gozo.

Hay una gran alegría en ser obediente a la Palabra de Dios cuando se trata de tus finanzas. Dios cuidará de ti. ¡Sólo pídele!

God Is Never in a Hurry

“Don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed."

James 1:4 (The Message)

Be patient with God and with yourself.

God’s timetable is rarely the same as yours. You’re often in a hurry—but God isn’t. It can be frustrating when it feels like the progress you’re making is slow.

But remember this: God is never in a hurry, but he is always on time. He will use your entire lifetime to prepare you for your role in eternity.

The Bible is filled with examples of how God uses a long process to develop character, especially in leaders. He took 80 years to prepare Moses, including 40 in the wilderness. For those 14,600 wilderness days, Moses kept waiting and wondering, “Is it time?” But God kept saying, “Not yet.”

Great souls are grown through struggles, storms, and seasons of suffering. Be patient with the process. James advised, “Don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed” (James 1:4 The Message).

Don’t get discouraged. When Habakkuk became depressed because he didn’t think God was acting quickly enough, God said: “These things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!” (Habakkuk 2:3 TLB).

Remember how far you’ve come, not just how far you have to go. You are not where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be.

Years ago people wore a popular button with the letters PBPGINFWMY. It stood for “Please be patient. God is not finished with me yet.”

God isn’t finished with you either. Be patient with him and with yourself. And keep on moving forward. Even the snail reached the ark by persevering!
