¿Cómo podemos estar Agradecidos en todas las Circunstancias?

“Den gracias a Dios en toda situación, porque esta es su voluntad para ustedes en Cristo Jesús”. 1 Tesalonicenses 5:18 (NVI)

En los Estados Unidos y Canadá, celebramos un día de acción de gracias una vez al año. Pero Dios quiere que seamos intencionales sobre nuestro agradecimiento cada día. Él quiere que desarrollemos este hábito espiritual, es un habito que refleja la vida de un creyente maduro. Entre más profundo entiendas el amor de Dios, más agradecido estarás.

Así que, ¿Qué significa ser radicalmente agradecido?

La Biblia dice en 1 Tesalonicenses 5:18 “den gracias a Dios en toda situación, porque esta es su voluntad para ustedes en Cristo Jesús” (NVI). Esa es gratitud radical. En toda situación dar gracias, porque es la voluntad de Dios para tu vida.

Puedes agradecer a Dios en cada circunstancia porque Dios está en control. Él puede sacar algo bueno de lo malo. Él puede corregir los peores errores que has cometido. No importa lo que suceda, Dios no va a dejar de amarte. Puedes encontrar cientos de cosas para estar agradecido en cualquier circunstancia, incluso cuando las circunstancias sean un desastre.

Gratitud radical —ser agradecido en todas las circunstancias— es la voluntad de Dios porque crea comunión.

¿Qué quiero decir con eso? La gratitud siempre construye relaciones más profundas entre tú y otras personas y entre tú y Dios.

Si quieres estar más cerca de alguien, comienza expresando tu gratitud a esa persona. Si te sientes distante de tu esposa, necesitas comenzar a hacer lo que hacías cuando eran novios: expresa gratitud. Escribe notas cortas amables y de ánimo. Haz llamadas o envía textos durante el día, solo para decirle a tu pareja que estás agradecido. La razón por la que has perdido esos sentimientos de amor es porque dejaste de hacer las cosas que crearon esos sentimientos al principio, y caemos en la rutina.

¿Quieres fortalecer tu grupo pequeño? No te limites a ir a tu reunión. Durante la semana, envía mensajes de texto o correos electrónicos o llama o escribe a las personas de tu grupo. Diles: “Estoy agradecido por ti, y estas son las razones…” Descubrirás que cuanto más agradecido estés por tu grupo, más se integrarán.

La Biblia dice, “Por eso, anímense y edifíquense unos a otros, tal como lo vienen haciendo” 1 Tesalonicenses 5:11 (NVI). Mientras edificas a otros, encuentras que Dios edifica tu vida a través de tus relaciones más profundas con Él y con los demás.

Three Results of a Breakthrough Prayer

“When all the surrounding kingdoms heard that the LORD himself had fought against the enemies of Israel, the fear of God came over them. So Jehoshaphat’s kingdom was at peace, for his God had given him rest on every side."

2 Chronicles 20:29-30 (NLT)

When you ask God for a breakthrough in your life, expect him to turn battles into blessings.

King Jehoshaphat and his army let God fight their battle for them. When they went to the battlefield, this is what they found: “Not a single one of the enemy had escaped . . . There was so much plunder that it took them three days just to collect it all! On the fourth day they gathered in the Valley of Blessing, which got its name that day because the people praised and thanked the LORD there” (2 Chronicles 20:24-26 NLT).

God wants you to live your life in your own “valley of blessing,” where there’s so much abundance it takes you three days to carry off the spoils of war. You can only live in the valley of blessing when you pray your breakthrough prayer—the prayer you only pray when everything is going wrong and you can’t do anything about it.

Jehoshaphat’s story shows us the three results of a breakthrough prayer. The first result is that you get more blessing than you can handle. If you’re wondering how you’re going to know when you’ve had a breakthrough, don’t worry. You’ll know it! It will be so amazing that you can only say, “God did that.”

The second result of a breakthrough prayer is that your love for God grows. When God does this amazing work in your life, you’ll want to worship him more.

The third result of a breakthrough prayer is that unbelievers start noticing: “Then all the men returned to Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat leading them, overjoyed that the LORD had given them victory over their enemies. They marched into Jerusalem to the music of harps, lyres, and trumpets” (2 Chronicles 20:27-28 NLT). When God creates a breakthrough in your life, you’ll want to throw a party that can’t be ignored! It is a witness to people who don’t know God yet. You get blessed, and God gets honored.

Dios te Bendice para que puedas ser Generoso

“Ustedes serán enriquecidos en todo sentido para que en toda ocasión puedan ser generosos, y para que por medio de nosotros la generosidad de ustedes resulte en acciones de gracias a Dios”. 2 Corintios 9:11 (NVI)

Demasiadas personas no entienden correctamente lo que significa ser bendecido por Dios. Cuando Dios te bendice de varias maneras, es una oportunidad para ser generoso, lo que dará lugar al agradecimiento a Dios.

Dios no te bendice para que seas codicioso; Él te bendice para que puedas ser generoso. Para que des, y entonces Dios te devuelva para que puedas dar más y Él pueda devolverte más, y así sucesivamente.

Dios no te da cosas para que acumules. Cuando das lo que está en tu mano, se queda vacía para que puedas recibir bendiciones más grandes de Dios.

Pero como he dicho antes, lo que Dios te da se basa en tu actitud. Por eso es tan importante vivir con una actitud de gratitud. La Biblia dice, “Ustedes serán enriquecidos en todo sentido para que en toda ocasión puedan ser generosos, y para que por medio de nosotros la generosidad de ustedes resulte en acciones de gracias a Dios” 2 Corintios 9:12 (NVI).

Cuando das, estás realizando un servicio. Servir y dar son esenciales. Cada uno es una acción de amor. No se puede amar sin servir y dar. Y esta es la mejor parte: Tu servicio conduce a expresiones de agradecimiento a Dios.

Toma un momento para orar y expresar tu gratitud a Dios.

Thank God in Advance for Your Breakthrough

“The king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the LORD and praising him for his holy splendor. This is what they sang: ‘Give thanks to the LORD; his faithful love endures forever!'"

2 Chronicles 20:21 (NLT)

The story of King Jehoshaphat perfectly illustrates the power of thanking God in advance, before you get the answer to your breakthrough prayer.

When faced with an attack by three enemy armies, Jehoshaphat had an unusual battle strategy: “The king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the LORD and praising him for his holy splendor. This is what they sang: ‘Give thanks to the LORD; his faithful love endures forever!’” (2 Chronicles 20:21 NLT).

Would you agree this is an unusual way to organize an army? Imagine what the opposing armies thought when they saw the Israeli army led by a bunch of harpists and trumpeters.

I’m sure the choir wondered what was going on too. But Jehoshaphat had reminded them that the battle belonged to God, and if they believed in him, they would succeed. That’s why they were able to thank God in advance for their upcoming victory and then show him that they believed by putting the choir before the army.

Prayer and praise are verbalized faith. When you say, “God, thank you that you’re taking care of my bankruptcy. Thank you that you’re taking care of my pain. Thank you that you’re working out this conflict,” that’s thanking him in advance.

It doesn’t take much faith to thank God after he’s done something. The way you show God that you have faith that he will make a breakthrough in your life is by thanking him in advance.

Here’s the power of thanking God before you see your breakthrough: “At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the LORD caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves” (2 Chronicles 20:22 NLT).

Jehoshaphat’s army didn’t lift a finger (except to play their instruments). How did they win the battle? They thanked God in advance. They believed he would take care of them and save them from their enemies. They showed that faith in their battle formation. And then they watched as God gave them their breakthrough.

When are you going to start thanking God for your breakthrough? Maybe you’ve wanted something all your life, but you’ve just been begging. Maybe you’ve tried to bargain, bribe, or pressure God to say “yes.”

God wants to say “yes” to your breakthrough prayer. He’s just waiting for you to show faith.

Regala el Don de tu Atención

“No se ocupen solo de sus propios intereses, sino también procuren interesarse en los demás”. Filipenses 2:4 (NTV)

Cuando entras a una reunión, ¿Cuántas personas están sentadas viendo sus teléfonos y enviando mensajes? Nuestras cabezas siempre las tenemos inclinadas hacía abajo, enfocados en un juego de video, y nuestros audífonos evitan que escuchemos a las personas a nuestro lado. Es tan fácil sentarse en un restaurante con amigos y aun así estar más preocupados sobre nuestros “amigos” en Facebook o Twitter o Instagram.

Vivimos en un mundo donde nuestras herramientas y tecnología nos han dejado perpetuamente distraídos, y ya no ponemos atención a las personas a nuestro alrededor.

Si quieres tener relaciones más felices, necesitas aprender el arte de poner atención.

La Biblia dice en Filipenses 2:4 “No se ocupen solo de sus propios intereses, sino también procuren interesarse en los demás” (NTV).

Esto no sucede naturalmente, ¿Verdad? Basado en mi naturaleza, puede no importarme en lo que estás interesado. Basado en mi naturaleza, prefiero poner mi atención solo en mí, no en ti.

Pero el regalo más grande que puedes dar a alguien es tu atención porque tu atención es tu tiempo y tu tiempo es tu vida. Nunca vas a recuperarlo, y eso es el por qué es tan valioso cuando lo das.

Se trata de una herramienta sencilla pero poderosa para cultivar relaciones sólidas. ¿Te interesa lo que les interesa a tus hijos? ¿Escuchas lo que tu cónyuge tiene que decir? ¿Prestas atención a tus compañeros de trabajo cuando te hablan? ¿Te fijas en tus vecinos cuando pasas por su casa por la mañana?

Aprender el arte perdido de poner atención, es un acto de amor. Transformará tus relaciones y te ayudará a vivir una vida feliz.

Let Go and Surrender to God

“The battle is not yours, but God's."

2 Chronicles 20:15 (NLT)

Imagine you’re sitting on a plane that’s about to take off. As the plane goes down the runway, you start flapping your arms. As the speed picks up and the nose lifts in the air, you flap your arms faster and faster. Once in the air, the flight attendant approaches you and says, “What are you doing?”

And you say, “Oh, I’m helping us get off the ground.”

That’s ridiculous, right? But that’s basically what you do when you try to do things only God is equipped to do. Just like you don’t need to hold up a plane, you don’t need to hold up God.

Do you want to know why you’re tired all the time? Why you’re frustrated? Why you’re worn out by life? The reason you’re so tired is you’re trying to fight battles that belong to God, and you are not God.

“The battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15 NLT).

People tend toward independence, and so when you see a problem, you think, “I’ve got to figure this out. It’s up to me!” You assume God’s role, and it wears you out, because you were never meant to carry it in the first place.

You’ve been running in circles trying to solve problems in your marriage, your body, the economy, your school, the world. You’re trying to solve them on your own power. You’re trying to fight the battle on your own, and you’re getting tired.

When you finally just give up and come back to God and tell him you’ve made a mess of it, you may think you’ve let him down.

But you haven’t let God down, because you were never holding him up. You don’t have God in your hands; he’s got you in his hands. If you’ve got God in your hands, it’s not God. It’s an idol. If you’re trusting in something that you think you can control, then that thing is not God.

God is not disappointed in you, because he’s not expecting you to do what only he can do. You don’t hold God up. He holds you up.

Let go and surrender to God. Because then he says, “Great! Now we can get something done.”

La Felicidad y la Humildad van Juntas

“Con esto no quiero decir que yo haya logrado ya hacer todo lo que les he dicho, ni tampoco que ya sea yo perfecto. Pero sí puedo decir que sigo adelante, luchando por alcanzar esa meta, pues para eso me salvó Jesucristo.  Hermanos, yo sé muy bien que todavía no he alcanzado la meta; pero he decidido no fijarme en lo que ya he recorrido, sino que ahora me concentro en lo que me falta por recorrer”. Filipenses 3:12-13 (TLA)

Cuando Pablo escribió esta Escritura, era un hombre mayor en la prisión de Roma. Estaba al final de su vida. Era una persona increíblemente madura. Sin embargo, dijo que no había alcanzado la meta. Si alguien tuviera el derecho de decir, “He alcanzado la meta espiritualmente”, sería el hombre que escribió gran parte del Nuevo Testamento. Pero Pablo dijo: “No, no he alcanzado la meta. Todavía estoy creciendo. Todavía estoy aprendiendo. Todavía me estoy pareciendo más a Cristo”.

¿Cuál es la trampa que te impedirá seguir el ejemplo de Pablo y continuar creciendo en Cristo? El orgullo.

El orgullo te impedirá crecer porque cuando pretendes que lo has hecho todo, no te esforzarás por ser más maduro espiritualmente. ¡Nadie lo ha hecho todo! La humildad lleva a la felicidad porque te hace enseñable.

Las personas felices nunca dejan de crecer. Las personas felices nunca dejan de descubrir, nunca dejan de esforzarse, nunca dejan de aprender. Si has dejado de crecer, eres infeliz, porque estás hecho para crecer.

La Felicidad y la humildad van juntas porque las personas humildes son enseñables. Ellas siempre están preguntando “¿Cómo puedo ser un mejor esposo? ¿Cómo puedo ser un mejor amigo? ¿Cómo puedo ser un mejor jefe? ¿Cómo puedo ser un mejor seguidor de Jesús?”

“Examínense para saber si su fe es genuina. Pruébense a sí mismos. Sin duda saben que Jesucristo está entre ustedes” 2 Corintios 13:5 (NTV).

God’s Trying to Talk to You

“Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s."

2 Chronicles 20:15 (NLT)

Prayer is a conversation, not a monologue. When you pray, don’t do all the talking! You can’t build a friendship with God if you don’t let him talk to you.

How do you let God talk to you? Through the Bible. Everything God wants to say to you, is already in his Word. People are always looking for some sign, thinking “I wish God would tell me what he wants me to do. I wish he would write it in the sky.” God is not going to write his will in the sky because he’s already written it in a Book!

Stop looking for a sign, and start looking at Scripture. Stop looking for a vision, and start looking for a verse. God’s will is in God’s Word. The more you read his Book, the more you’re going to know what to do.

King Jehoshaphat was facing three enemy armies that teamed up and advanced against him and Israel. Israel knew they didn’t have the strength to fight them. They knew that, in their own power, they would be defeated. So they prayed for help. This is what God said to them through one of his people:

“‘Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s . . . You will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the LORD’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the LORD is with you!’ Then King Jehoshaphat bowed low with his face to the ground. And all the people of Judah and Jerusalem did the same, worshiping the LORD” (2 Chronicles 20:15-18 NLT).

Imagine an entire nation getting on the ground, bowing down on their knees, and worshiping God because he told them, “I’m going to take care of it.”

When you pray a breakthrough prayer of surrender like Jehoshaphat did, God will say the same thing to you. So don’t be afraid or discouraged! It’s God’s battle, and he’ll handle it. Keep serving in your position. Wait, and watch what God does.

God has so many more amazing promises for you. But you’ll never know about them until you open the Bible and start reading.

Llegar a conocer “profunda e íntimamente” a Dios

“Lo he perdido todo con tal de conocer a Cristo, de experimentar el poder de su resurrección, de tener parte en sus sufrimientos y de llegar a ser semejante a él en su muerte”. Filipenses 3:10 (NVI)

La Felicidad se encuentra en conocer a Dios un poco mejor cada día.

En Filipenses 3:10, Pablo dice, “Lo he perdido todo con tal de conocer a Cristo, de experimentar el poder de su resurrección, de tener parte en sus sufrimientos y de llegar a ser semejante a él en su muerte” (NVI).

Pablo llegó a conocer “profunda e íntimamente” a Dios porque tenía una relación con Él y se tomó el tiempo para conocerlo.

No se llega a “conocer profunda e íntimamente” a Dios por accidente. Como dice Pablo, es un “propósito determinado”. Es algo que tienes que hacer. Tienes que invertir tu tiempo en ello.

Haz un tiempo para Dios. Si reservas 10 o 15 minutos de tiempo enfocado con Dios cada mañana, comenzarás a “entender las maravillas” de Dios con mayor claridad. Y empezarás a experimentar una mayor felicidad en tu vida.
