La Debilidad puede ser algo Bueno

“Qué alegría para los que reciben su fuerza del Señor” . Salmo 84:5a (NTV)

¿Estás cansado? Tal vez estás corriendo muy de prisa y al final del día, estás agotado, te quedas sin energía y estás exhausto. La razón de eso es realmente simple: eres un ser humano.

Tu fuerza es limitada. Pero la fuerza de Dios es ilimitada. Tu fuerza es finita. Pero la fuerza de Dios es infinita. Tu fuerza es se termina, ¡por eso te agotas! Pero la fuerza de Dios es inagotable. Dios nunca se queda sin energía. Dios nunca se cansa.

El Salmo 84:5 dice: “Qué alegría para los que reciben su fuerza del Señor” (NTV). ¿Quieres la bendición de Dios en tu vida? Entonces necesitas depender de Dios para obtener fuerzas.

Uno de los cristianos más famosos del siglo XIX fue un hombre llamado Hudson Taylor. Fue un misionero en China, y fue un gigante espiritual y un hombre brillante. En su vejez, perdió su salud y se debilitó bastante. Escribió una carta a un amigo que decía esto: “Estoy tan débil que ya no puedo trabajar. Soy tan débil que ya no puedo estudiar. Soy tan débil que ya no puedo leer mi Biblia. Ni siquiera puedo orar. Solo puedo recostarme en los brazos de Dios como un niño pequeño en total confianza”.

En algún momento de tu vida, puedes ser tan débil que ni siquiera puedes orar, leer la Biblia, ir a un estudio de la Biblia, trabajar o realmente hacer algo. ¿Qué haces en esos momentos? Descansas en la fuerza del Señor, en sus brazos como un niño pequeño y confías en Él.

La debilidad puede ser algo bueno en tu vida si te hace depender de Dios. En 2 Corintios 12:8-10, Pablo dice esto: “En tres ocasiones distintas, le supliqué al Señor que me la quitara. Cada vez él me dijo: «Mi gracia es todo lo que necesitas; mi poder actúa mejor en la debilidad». Así que ahora me alegra jactarme de mis debilidades, para que el poder de Cristo pueda actuar a través de mí. Es por esto que me deleito en mis debilidades, y en los insultos, en privaciones, persecuciones y dificultades que sufro por Cristo. Pues, cuando soy débil, entonces soy fuerte” (NTV).

Esa es la paradoja de depender de Dios: cuanto más débil eres, más dependes de Él. Y cuanto más dependes de Dios, más fuerte eres.

Why Be Concerned About Hell?

“He has planted eternity in the human heart.”

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NLT)

Heaven and hell are real. God wants you to understand this eternal reality and all the realities of life that are found in his Word, the Bible.

The first reality of life is that God made you to love you, and he wants you to learn to love him back. The Great Commandment says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37 NIV).

The second reality of life is this: You were made to last forever. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has planted eternity in the human heart” (NLT). No matter how good things are on this planet, at some point in your life you’ll think, “There’s got to be more than this.”

And there is! You’re going to spend far more time on the other side of death than on this side. This life is preparation for your life in eternity.

Because of that, you have the third reality of life: God has prepared two eternal places, heaven and hell.

God has been preparing heaven since the foundation of the world. Jesus says in Matthew 25:34, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world” (NLT). You don’t have to stay forever on a planet broken by sin. You can choose to go to a place of perfection and be in God’s presence forever.

But hell is also a real place. Jesus goes on to say, “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons’” (Matthew 25:41 NLT). Hell was prepared for the devil and his angels, who rebelled against God. But now it is a reality for anyone who chooses to rebel against God.

We’re going to spend the next few days talking about the reality of hell—not because I want you to be scared and depressed.

I want you to understand the truth about hell so that you can fully embrace the fourth reality of life: You get to choose where you’ll spend eternity.

Deuteronomy 30:19 says, “I am now giving you the choice between life and death, between God’s blessing and God’s curse, and I call heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Choose life” (GNT).

God wants you to choose life, and to spend eternity with him. He’s opened the door to heaven through his son, Jesus Christ. Jesus promised, “Anyone who believes me and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe me will be condemned” (Mark 16:16 CEV).

When you choose to believe in Jesus, you’re guaranteed everlasting life with God in heaven. What a promise!

You can rely on God’s promise

Your sin separates you from God, and there’s nothing you can do to make things right. So you need someone to save you from your sins and make you acceptable to God.

That’s why God sent Jesus. Jesus’ death on the cross paid for every wrong you’ve ever done or will do. Jesus made it possible for you to have a relationship with God the Father. The Bible says, “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are” (Romans 3:22 NLT).

You can start your journey with Jesus by believing in him and confessing your sins. If you’re ready to surrender your life to Jesus Christ, start by praying this simple prayer: “Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that he died for my sin and that you raised him to life. I want to trust him as my Savior and follow him as Lord from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Confía en la Sabiduría de Dios, no en tus Sentimientos

“Confía en el Señor con todo tu corazón; no dependas de tu propio entendimiento. Busca su voluntad en todo lo que hagas, y él te mostrará cuál camino tomar. No te dejes impresionar por tu propia sabiduría. En cambio, teme al Señor y aléjate del mal”. Proverbios 3:5-7 (NTV)

¿Alguna vez has tenido la sensación de que algo estaba muy bien, pero cuando lo hiciste, terminó siendo muy, pero muy malo?

Los sentimientos mienten. ¡Te mienten todo el tiempo! Hay una vieja canción del oeste que dice: “¿Cómo puedes estar mal cuando te sientes tan bien?” ¿Estás bromeando? Hay muchas cosas que están mal que se sienten tan bien en este momento.

Después de seis meses en una relación, te preguntas: “¿En qué estaba pensando?” Unas pocas semanas en un trabajo, piensas: “¿Cómo terminé atrapado en esto?” Una decisión rápida que parecía inofensiva con el tiempo te deja destrozado y marcado por años.

Si deseas experimentar menos callejones sin salida y fracasos en tu vida, necesitas escuchar lo que Proverbios 3:5-7 nos dice: “Confía en el Señor con todo su corazón; No dependas de tu propio entendimiento. Busca su voluntad en todo lo que hagas, y él te mostrará qué camino tomar. No te impresiones con tu propia sabiduría. En cambio, teme al SEÑOR y aléjate del mal” (NTV).

Si realmente quieres la bendición de Dios en tu vida, debes depender de la sabiduría de Dios y no de lo que dicen tus sentimientos o de lo que dice tu instinto. Confía en el Señor y no en tu propio entendimiento.

Entonces, ¿cómo obtienes la sabiduría de Dios?

En tu tiempo de oración. Hablas con Dios y le permites que te hable leyendo la Biblia. Así es como obtienes la sabiduría de Dios.

La Biblia dice en Santiago 1:5, “Si a alguno de ustedes le falta sabiduría, pídasela a Dios, y él se la dará. Dios es generoso y nos da todo con agrado” (PDT).

Dios no quiere que cometas errores tontos. Él no quiere que llegues a callejones sin salida o que sufras un fracaso tras otro en la vida. Dios quiere que tengas éxito. Quiere que tomes decisiones sabias con tu tiempo, tu dinero y tus relaciones.

No es que estés esperando Su ayuda. Él te está esperando a ti. Dios dice: “¡Oye! Estoy aquí. Te daré sabiduría, y te la daré generosamente. No lo hago a regañadientes. Quiero hacerte sabio. Sólo tienes que pedirlo”.

Si quieres ser bendecido, tienes que tener la sabiduría de Dios. Y si quieres la sabiduría de Dios, tienes que entrar en la Palabra de Dios.

Five Spiritual Realities You Need to Understand

“Things that are seen don’t last forever, but things that are not seen are eternal. This is why we keep our minds on the things that cannot be seen."

2 Corinthians 4:18 (CEV)

Everything you see around you is temporary. It’s what you can’t see that will last forever.

And those eternal, spiritual realities are what truly matter.

The truth is, spiritual realities are just as real as physical realities. And you need to focus on the spiritual ones because they are part of reality. Here are five spiritual realities you need to understand:

God made you to love you. Jeremiah 31:3 says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love” (NIV). God created you to love you, and he wants you to learn to love him back. This is the most important reality of life.

You were made to last forever. The Bible says, “He has . . . set eternity in the human heart (Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV). The evangelist Billy Graham talked about death this way: “Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.” He is in the presence of God now. 

God has prepared two eternal places. Both heaven and hell are real, literal places. They’re not just “states of being.”

You get to choose where you’ll spend eternity. You won’t accidentally find yourself in hell one day. You’ll be there because of a choice you made. If you choose to make Jesus the boss of your life, you’ll spend eternity with him in heaven. If you choose to reject him, you’ll spend forever in hell. There is no other option.

You get no second chances to make your choice. Your choice has a time limit. You have your entire life to make the decision about where you’ll spend eternity, but you can’t change your mind after death.

What you do with these five truths will affect your eternal destiny and transform how you live on this side of eternity.

Life on Earth is always uncertain, so if you haven’t already made the choice for Jesus, go ahead and do it today.

If you’re ready to commit your life to Jesus, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe that you are God, my Savior. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning over every part of my life to your management. You have the right to call the shots in my life.

“Jesus, I want to relax in your love. Thank you that I don’t have to earn it, deserve it, or work for it. I want to use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I humbly commit my life to you, and I ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Deja que la Fe, no el Temor, Gobierne tu Corazón

“Y muchos lo reprendían para que se callara, pero él gritaba mucho más: ¡Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí!”. Marcos 10:48 (LBLA)

Si vas a empezar de nuevo con fe en tu vida, tienes que enfrentarte a tus temores. No dejes que te controlen. El temor tiene una capacidad increíble para paralizar nuestro potencial, para impedir que nos lancemos y tengamos fe en nuestras vidas.

Cuando elegimos el temor en lugar de la fe, nos vuelve escépticos —tenemos temor de intentar algo nuevo cuando tenemos miedo. Nos hace ser egoístas —tenemos temor de comprometernos con Dios y con los demás. Nos vuelve miopes —nos centramos en el pasado y no en el futuro.

Bartimeo se enfrentó a un temor que es familiar para muchos de nosotros: el temor al rechazo. Sabía que gritar a Jesús en aquella multitud no era lo correcto. Sabía que la gente lo despreciaría por ello, pero estaba desesperado. Y sabía que Jesucristo era el único que podía ayudarle.

Y mira lo que pasó: Cuando gritó a Jesús, todos a su alrededor le dijeron: “No hagas eso. Cállate. No hagas una escena. Seguro que a Jesucristo no le interesas. Tiene cosas más importantes que hacer”.

El diablo nos susurra cosas así a muchos de nosotros. Cuando esa oportunidad de fe llega a nuestro corazón, pensamientos como: “Seguramente Dios no estaría interesado en ti” o “No hagas una escena” o “¿Qué pensaría la gente de ti?” nos impiden tener fe. Cuando ves una oportunidad para cambiar, hay todo tipo de gritos desde tu interior y a tu alrededor que te dicen que no agites el barco.

Pero Dios te está pidiendo que hagas algo más grande de lo que has hecho antes: Te está pidiendo que dependas completamente de Él. ¿No crees que eso va a dar un poco de temor? Por supuesto que sí. Y cuando Dios te pide algo, tienes una opción. ¿Vas a volver a caer en tu temor y quedarte como estás? ¿O vas a ponerle freno a tu temor y dar un paso adelante en la fe?

You Were Made for a Mission

“In the same way that [the Father] gave me a mission in the world, I give them a mission in the world."

John 17:18 (The Message)

You were made to make a unique contribution with your life. In the last devotional, I shared one way you can make that contribution: in a ministry to fellow believers through your SHAPE.

But you were also made for a mission to the world around you. God created you to have both a ministry in the church and a mission in the world.

Jesus says in John 17:18, “In the same way that [the Father] gave me a mission in the world, I give them a mission in the world” (The Message). One day, you’ll stand before God and he’ll ask you, “What did you do with what I gave you?” At that point, you’ll answer for how you used the gifts God gave you to complete the mission he has for you.

Paul says, “But I reckon my own life to be worth nothing to me; I only want to complete my mission and finish the work that the Lord Jesus gave me to do, which is to declare the Good News about the grace of God” (Acts 20:24 GNT).

What is the assignment God has given you?

God made you to share the Good News. Once you know who Jesus is and what he did to make you right with God, you need to share the message with others.

Jesus said in Acts 1:8: “You will be my witnesses—in Jerusalem, in all of Judea, in Samaria, and in every part of the world” (NCV).

Notice that Jesus doesn’t call you to be his salesperson or his defense attorney. You don’t have to sell Jesus to others or defend him.

Jesus tells you to be his witness. You’re simply to tell others what happened to you. You are the authority on your life. So nobody can be a better witness of what God has done in your life than you.

Jesus wants you to go all over to share this message—to your neighbors, to people who are like you, and to people who are not like you. Their future in eternity is at stake. Unfortunately, millions of people die every year and go into eternity without a relationship with Christ.

I can’t think of a more important mission for you to spend your life on than sharing the Good News about Jesus. And I can’t think of a better time than now to be on that mission.

My life verse is Acts 13:36: “David served God’s purposes in his own time” (GNB).

That’s my hope for you. That you’ll serve God’s purpose in your time.

Nothing you do is more important.

Cómo Reemplazar tu Temor por Confianza

“Efectivamente él nos rescató del peligro mortal y volverá a hacerlo de nuevo. Hemos depositado nuestra confianza en Dios, y él seguirá rescatándonos”. 2 Corintios 1:10 (NTV)

Dios te está cuidando, así que no escuches tus temores. Esta es una elección. Confía en Dios y no cedas a tus temores.

La promesa de Dios a los creyentes es que, independientemente de lo que nos ocurra, Él trabaja para nuestro bien, si le amamos y le seguimos (Romanos 8:28). Si eres creyente, la Biblia dice que todas las cosas están trabajando para el bien, no que todas las cosas sean buenas, sino que están trabajando para el bien.

Eso significa que podemos dejar de escuchar nuestros temores, porque no hay ninguna dificultad, dilema, derrota o desastre en la vida de un creyente del que Dios no pueda sacar algo bueno en última instancia. No hay necesidad de temer el futuro.

Tus temores revelan donde no confías en Dios. Hoy, haz una lista de tus temores y pídele a Dios que te ayude a identificar por qué tienes temor en esas áreas. Luego, pídele que te ayude a reemplazar tus temores por confianza.

Ahora, esto es importante: Espera que Dios comience a ayudarte a aprender a confiar en Él con cada temor. Luego, observa cómo te ayuda.

You Were Shaped to Serve God

“God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us to do good works, which God planned in advance for us to live our lives doing.”

Ephesians 2:10 (NCV)

No two people are the same. You are unique in every single way. You have a unique voice, eye color, and thumbprint. Even your heartbeat is unique.

God doesn’t clone anything. No one in all of history—and in all the future—is like you.

God uniquely shaped you to fulfill a unique purpose on planet Earth—to make a unique contribution. If you’ve been reading Daily Hope for a while, you’ve likely seen SHAPE, the acronym I use to describe the unique way God shaped you to serve him.

Here’s what makes up your SHAPE:

Spiritual gifts: When you become a Christian, God gives you special abilities so you can better serve others.Heart: You have passions—things you enjoy doing.  Abilities: From birth, God has given you natural abilities—anything from athletics, to art, to accounting. Personality: Some people are introverts; others are extroverted. Some people love to plan everything; others work best at the last minute.Experiences: God uses your experiences—family, education, occupation, emotions, and more—to allow you to help others.

No two people have the exact same SHAPE. God has made you unique, and he has unique ways he wants you to serve other people.

Paul writes in Ephesians 2:10, “God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us to do good works, which God planned in advance for us to live our lives doing” (NCV).

You’ll spend all of eternity serving God in heaven. God wants you to practice by serving other people on Earth through your good works. The Bible calls these good works your ministry.

God calls every Christian to be in ministry—not just pastors and missionaries. You can use whatever you’re good at—and all the unique ways God has SHAPEd you—to minister to others.

Da un Paso de Fe a Pesar de tu Temor

“Oh Señor, escucha sus amenazas y danos a nosotros, tus siervos, mucho valor al predicar tu palabra”. Hechos 4:29 (NTV)

Todos tenemos temores. Sin embargo, con mucha frecuencia dejamos que gobiernen nuestras vidas y nos impidan defender lo que sabemos que Dios quiere que hagamos.

Al igual que Daniel en el foso de los leones, nos enfrentamos a personas y situaciones que amenazan con destruirnos a nosotros y a nuestro testimonio de Cristo. Pero la elección es nuestra.

¿Caeremos ante nuestros temores, o resistiremos por Dios a pesar de esos temores?

Si quieres vencer el temor que te arrastra, necesitas entender claramente los beneficios de elegir mantenerte firme en lo que Dios quiere.

Lo más importante que necesitas ver es que hacer lo que Dios quiere que hagas es una clara victoria sobre el temor en tu vida.

Porque el temor crece. Cada vez que te rindes ante un temor, éste se vuelve más intenso.

El temor crece cada vez que te niegas a hacer lo que Dios quiere que hagas. Finalmente, te sentirás acorralado.

Entonces, ¿Qué vas a hacer?

Sigue el ejemplo de los primeros cristianos. Ciertamente no somos la primera generación de cristianos que enfrenta el temor. Los primeros creyentes enfrentaron todo tipo de persecución. El libro de Hechos nos muestra un poco acerca de cómo se enfrentaron a este temor. Cuando Pedro y Juan proclamaron audazmente a Jesús en Hechos 4, se enfrentaron a una feroz oposición.

Entonces oraron: “Oh Señor, escucha sus amenazas y danos a nosotros, tus siervos, mucho valor al predicar tu palabra“ Hechos 4:29 (NTV).

La respuesta a tu temor no es ceder ante él. Es avanzar con valentía a pesar de él. Enfréntate al temor. El temor no responde a la lógica, así que tu única posibilidad de librarte del temor es confiar en Dios y enfrentar el temor.

Nunca, nunca olvides esto: Dios no separará el agua frente a ti hasta que des tu primer paso (mira cómo Dios hizo esto por Elías y Eliseo en 2 Reyes 2:8). Das un paso de fe, y entonces Dios te muestra el camino. Eso no sucederá si te quedas envuelto en tu temor.

Da un paso de fe hoy, y observa cómo el temor se desmorona en el proceso mientras Dios guía tus pasos.
