¿Cómo Puedo Estar Bien con Dios?

“Si declaras abiertamente que Jesús es el Señor y crees en tu corazón que Dios lo levantó de los muertos, serás salvo. Pues es por creer en tu corazón que eres declarado justo a los ojos de Dios y es por declarar abiertamente tu fe que eres salvo”. Romanos 10:9-10 (NTV)

La Biblia dice en Romanos 1:17: “De hecho, en el evangelio se revela la justicia que proviene de Dios” (NVI).

¿Cómo nos justifica Dios delante de Él? Eso se llama Evangelio y hay tres puntos.

Primero: No podemos hacernos justos por nosotros mismos.

El Cielo es un lugar perfecto. No hay pecado, tristeza, mal o injusticia. Pero aquí está el problema: Somos imperfectos, y Dios no puede dejar que los pecadores lleguen al Cielo porque entonces lo llenaría de pecado también.

Romanos 3:20 dice: “Pues nadie llegará jamás a ser justo ante Dios por hacer lo que la ley manda. La ley sencillamente nos muestra lo pecadores que somos” (NTV).

Los únicos que piensan que pueden cumplir las leyes de Dios son los que no las conocen, porque las leyes de Dios son la perfección, y ninguno de nosotros es perfecto. No podemos hacernos buenos por nosotros mismos. Así que Dios tuvo que idear un plan.

Segundo: Dios envió a Jesús para pagar por nuestros pecados y así nosotros pudiéramos ser declarados justos.

Cuando rompes las leyes del hombre, pagas el castigo del hombre. Al romper las leyes de Dios, pagas el castigo de Dios, que es la eternidad en el infierno. Alguien tiene que pagar por todas las cosas que has hecho en la vida que perjudican a otras personas, a ti mismo y a Dios. Dios dijo: “Enviaré a mi Hijo, Jesús, para pagar la pena. Él tomará tu lugar para que no tengas que ir al infierno. Podrás estar conmigo para siempre”.

¿Entiendes por qué al Evangelio se le llama Buenas Nuevas? Significa que todo lo que hayas hecho o alguna vez harás mal en la vida, ya ha sido pagado por Jesucristo en la cruz. Eres una persona justa delante de Dios.

“[Dios] nos salvó, no por las acciones justas que nosotros habíamos hecho, sino por su misericordia” Tito 3:5a (NTV).

Tercero: Tenemos que aceptar por fe lo que Dios hizo por nosotros.

Para ser justos delante de Dios, sólo cree y acepta por fe que lo que Jesús hizo en la cruz; Él pagó por tus pecados. Entonces, serás parte de la familia de Dios. Podrás vivir de la manera que Él quiere que vivas ahora y luego ir al Cielo por la eternidad. Eso es justicia.

Romanos 10: 9-10 dice: “Si declaras abiertamente que Jesús es el Señor y crees en tu corazón que Dios lo levantó de los muertos, serás salvo. Pues es por creer en tu corazón que eres declarado justo a los ojos de Dios y es por declarar abiertamente tu fe que eres salvo” (NTV).

¡Aleluya! Todos podemos ser salvos, no importa lo que somos, lo que hayamos hecho ni por cuánto tiempo lo hemos hecho.

Hoy es el día para resolver esto. Si no estás seguro si vas al Cielo cuando mueras, por favor haz esta oración: “Dios mío, gracias porque me hiciste, porque tienes un plan y un propósito para mi vida y porque me hiciste para conocerte. Gracias por la opción que me has dado para aceptar o rechazar tu oferta de salvación. Hoy humildemente te pido que me salves —no basado en lo que he hecho pero si en lo que Jesucristo hizo por mí. No lo entiendo todo pero lo que sí sé es que quiero poner mi confianza en tu Hijo. Dios quiero conocerte. Quiero aprender a amarte. Quiero estar hambriento y sediento de justicia por el resto de mi vida. Pongo mi confianza en tu gracia y en tu perdón. Quiero que seas el Señor de mi vida. Amén”.

Can I Be Sure I’ll Get Into Heaven?

“Those who hear my words and believe in him who sent me have eternal life. They will not be judged.”

John 5:24 (GNT)

Jesus’ death and resurrection release you from judgment.

Maybe you’ve imagined a day of judgment that goes something like this:

You’re standing outside the gates of heaven in a really long line. You’re slowly moving forward, one step at a time. As you get closer, you start to sweat and wonder, “Am I going to get in? Am I going to make it? Is God going to use a giant TV screen to show every foolish or wrong thing I’ve ever done? Will my every sin be exposed?”

I have Good News for you, promised by Jesus Christ himself: “Those who believe in the Son are not judged” (John 3:18 GNT).

Or, as he says it later in the book of John: “Those who hear my words and believe in him who sent me have eternal life. They will not be judged” (John 5:24 GNT).

Is that good news? Oh, yeah! 

I have a friend named Buddy who said that, when he was a little kid, his Sunday school teacher taught him that God was sitting in heaven, writing down every bad thing that Buddy ever did. She actually made the class sing a song every week that went, “My Lord is writing all the time. Writing, writing, writing all the time.” Buddy said, “It scared me. I just thought, ‘I’m never going to make it to heaven. My list is getting longer and longer.’”

Is that the way God treats you when you come to him and put your faith in Christ? No! In fact, God is erasing, erasing, erasing all the time. Forgiving, forgiving, forgiving all the time. He’s sitting in heaven, hitting the “delete” button.

Why? Because the Bible says, “God is love” (1 John 4:8 NIV) and love “keeps no record of wrongs” (1 Corinthians 13:5 NIV). If you put your trust in the love of Jesus Christ, your sins are wiped out.

You can count on God to keep his promise: “There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1 NLT).

Talk It Over

What do you think of when you hear people talk about a “day of judgment”?
How does confidence of a future in heaven shape your daily actions and choices?
If God doesn’t keep a record of wrongs, why is it still important to try to do the right thing?

Yes, you can be certain you’re going to heaven!

Many people fear death and judgment—but Jesus’ death and resurrection can free you from that fear.

The Bible says that every one of us sins and that the penalty of sin is death. But God loves you so much that he sent his Son, Jesus, to pay the penalty of your sins, to bring you into the family of God, and to save you from judgment.

If you’re ready to enter God’s family, here’s a prayer you can start with: “Dear God, I know that when I die, I’m going to give an account of my life to you directly. I confess I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I want that to change, starting right now. I want to turn away from my sins and toward you.

“Thank you for sending Jesus to die for all I’ve done wrong so that I can have eternal life with you instead of judgment. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I know only your grace can save me, Lord.

“Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I humbly ask you to save me. I ask you to save me from my sins and from judgment. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe that you will keep your promise to save me instantly, certainly, completely, and eternally. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Cómo Orar con Eficacia

“Te suplico que recuerdes lo que le dijiste a tu siervo Moisés: ‘Si me son infieles los dispersaré entre las naciones; pero si vuelven a mí y obedecen mis mandatos y viven conforme a ellos, entonces aunque se encuentren desterrados en los extremos más lejanos de la tierra, yo los volveré a traer al lugar que elegí para que mi nombre sea honrado’ ”. Nehemías 1:8-9 ( NTV)

Aquí hay cuatro secretos para una oración contestada, tomados de la vida de Nehemías:

Haz tu petición con base en el carácter de Dios. Ora de la forma en la que sabes que Dios te responderá: “Espero que respondas esta oración por quién eres. Eres un Dios confiable. Eres un gran Dios. Eres un Dios amoroso. Tú eres un Dios maravilloso. ¡Tú puedes manejar este problema, mi Dios!”Confiesa los pecados de los que estés consciente. Después de que Nehemías basa su oración en quien es Dios, él confiesa sus pecados. Él dice: “Confieso que hemos pecado contra ti. ¡Es cierto, incluso mi propia familia y yo hemos pecado! Hemos pecado terriblemente al no haber obedecido los mandatos, los decretos y las ordenanzas que nos diste por medio de tu siervo Moisés” Nehemías 1:6b-7 (NTV). No era culpa de Nehemías que Israel estuviera en cautividad. Él no había nacido cuando sucedió; probablemente Él fue uno de los nacidos en cautividad. Aun así él se incluyó en el pecado nacional. Él dijo: “Yo también soy parte del problema”.Apela a la promesa de Dios. Nehemías oraba al Señor diciendo “Te suplico que recuerdes lo que le dijiste a tu siervo Moisés…” Nehemías 1:8a (NTV). ¿Te puedes imaginar decirle “recuerda” a Dios? Nehemías le recordó a Dios una promesa que Él le había hecho a la nación de Israel. De hecho él oro “Dios, tú nos advertiste a través de Moisés de que si éramos infieles, perderíamos la tierra de Israel. Pero también prometiste que si nos arrepentíamos, nos restituirías la tierra”. ¿Necesita Dios que se le recuerde? No. ¿Ha olvidado sus promesas? No. Entonces ¿Por qué tenemos que hacer esto? Porque nos ayuda a recordar lo que Dios ha prometido.Sé muy específico en lo que estás pidiendo. Si quieres una respuesta específica a una oración, entonces haz peticiones específicas. Si tus oraciones consisten en peticiones generales, ¿Cómo sabrás si fueron contestadas?

¿Qué petición recientemente les has hecho a Dios que no has recibido respuesta?Ora nuevamente por esa petición, y sigue los pasos anteriores. ¿Cómo cambia tu oración?¿Cuáles son las promesas de Dios a las que necesitas apelar?

God’s Plan to Bring You to Heaven

“God says he will accept and acquit us—declare us ‘not guilty’—if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like.”

Romans 3:22 (TLB)

Every human that has ever lived has faced the same problem: Their sin separates them from God. But the Bible offers a simple, straightforward solution, “the most joyful news ever announced, and it is for everyone” (Luke 2:10 TLB). 

The Bible says, “This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, ‘It is through faith that a righteous person has life’” (Romans 1:17 NLT).

God’s Word also says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).

The Good News is that the death and resurrection of Jesus give you access to God. In other words, you can only get to heaven by trusting in God through his Son, Jesus Christ.

How do you express faith in Christ? Here’s a simple, biblical guide:

Admit you need a Savior
You can’t get to God on your own. You’re a sinner. You’ve blown it. Heaven is perfect, and you’re not.

But the Bible says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9 NIV).

And the apostle Paul says, “God says he will accept and acquit us—declare us ‘not guilty’—if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like” (Romans 3:22 TLB).

Believe in Jesus
The Bible is straightforward about what you need to believe for salvation: “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31 NLT). That means you believe Jesus is who the Bible says he is, and you trust him for your future with everything you have. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6 NIV).

And your belief must be specific in Christ: “If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. For it is by our faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession that we are saved . . . ‘Everyone who calls out to the Lord for help will be saved’” (Romans 10:9-10, 13 GNT).

Confess your commitment to Jesus
Tell Jesus you trust him with your life. Confess that you believe in him and his promises. Jesus said, “If you trust me, you are trusting not only me, but also God who sent me. For when you see me, you are seeing the one who sent me. I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark” (John 12:44-46 NLT).

Depend on God’s promises
You can rely on God’s promise in John 3:16: “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (NLT).

No matter what you’ve done or how long you’ve done it, God promises that everyone who believes in Jesus will live with him in heaven forever.

Have you committed your life to Jesus?
If you haven’t trusted in Jesus and committed to following him, why wait any longer? Pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day. I’m so grateful that I do not have to earn or work for my salvation. It is a gift from God, through your sacrifice on the cross.

“I confess my sin, and I believe you are my Savior. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today I’m turning over every part of my life to your management. I want to use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Dios siempre está Presente, Independientemente de cómo te Sientas

“Desnudo salí del vientre de mi madre, y desnudo he de partir. El Señor ha dado; el Señor ha quitado. ¡Bendito sea el nombre del Señor!”. Job 1:21 (NVI)

Cuando eres un cristiano en tus inicios, Dios te da muchas emociones reconfortantes y frecuentemente responde las oraciones más egoístas e inmaduras solo para que sepas que Él existe. Pero según vas creciendo en la fe, Él te irá alejando de esas dependencias.

La omnipresencia de Dios y la manifestación de Su presencia son dos cosas diferentes. Una es un hecho; la otra es un sentimiento por lo regular. Dios siempre está presente, aun cuando no te das cuenta, y Su presencia es demasiado profunda para ser medida solo por la emoción.

Sí; Él quiere que sientas Su presencia, pero le interesa más que confíes en Él que el poder sentir Su presencia. Dios prefiere la Fe a los sentimientos.

Las situaciones que más probarán tu fe serán aquellos tiempos cuando la vida se derrumba y no encuentras a Dios. Esto le pasó a Job. En un solo día el perdió todo —su familia, sus negocios, su salud y todo lo que poseía. Y entonces, por 37 capítulos, ¡Dios no dijo nada!

¿Cómo adoras a Dios cuando no entiendes lo que está pasando en tu vida y Dios está callado? ¿Cómo te mantienes conectado en una crisis sin comunicación? ¿Cómo mantienes tus ojos en Jesús cuando están llenos de lágrimas? Dices lo que Job dijo: “Desnudo salí del vientre de mi madre, y desnudo he de partir. El Señor ha dado; el Señor ha quitado. ¡Bendito sea el nombre del Señor!” Job 1:21 (NVI).

Dile a Dios exactamente cómo te sientes. Derrama tu corazón en su presencia. Descarga todas las emociones que te embargan. Eso fue lo que hizo Job cuando dijo: “No puedo evitar hablar; debo expresar mi angustia. Mi alma llena de amargura debe quejarse” Job 7:11 (NTV).

Él clamó cuando Dios parecía distante: “Cuando yo estaba en la flor de la vida, la amistad con Dios se sentía en mi hogar” Job 29:4 (NTV).

Dios puede manejar tus dudas, enojo, temor, dolor, confusión y preguntas.

¿Quién es la persona a la que acudes cuando tu vida se vuelve difícil? ¿Qué le dices que también necesitas decirle a Dios?¿Cómo se exhibe tu fe en Dios cuando pasas por una crisis?¿Por qué crees que Dios está más interesado en tu fe que en tus sentimientos?

You Have a Home in Heaven

“Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”

Psalm 23:6 (NLT)

To God, your yesterdays, todays, and tomorrows are all connected. It’s as if he says to every Christian, “I’ve got this great life planned for you. Goodness and mercy have been with you all along—and will continue to follow you through your whole life. But that’s not all of it! I’ve got something wonderful planned at the end!”

David explains how God connects yesterday and today with tomorrow when he says, “I will live in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23:6 NLT). David is reminding believers of how it all ends: We’re going to heaven!

With God, it just keeps getting better and better.

Paul says it like this: “For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands” (2 Corinthians 5:1 NLT).

How long is forever going to last? Forever! 

One day your body will die, but you won’t. Your body will end, but that’s not going to be the end of you. You’re going to live forever in one of two places—heaven or hell. You were made to last forever; the only question is where your forever will be. 

Why are Christians confident about the future? The Bible says, “We are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord . . . Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:6, 8 NLT).

You’re going to die someday. And if you’ve accepted Christ, you’re going to heaven. You’ll be released from pain, sorrow, suffering, depression, and fear.

God will remove all your sorrows, “and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever” (Revelation 21:4 NLT).

As a follower of Christ, you can trust this truth: The best is yet to come!

Talk It Over

What things in your life will last forever?
How does an eternal perspective change everyday aspects of life like goals, plans, schedules, and relationships?
Is your confidence in your future with God evident in the way you live your life? Why or why not?

God wants to spend eternity with you. Will you say YES to his invitation today?

Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, God made it possible for you to become part of his family for eternity. No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can start with: “Dear God, I know when I die, I’m going to give an account of my life to you. I know I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I know I don’t deserve it, but I humbly ask for your forgiveness. I want to turn away from my sins and toward you.

“I want to change my life and follow Jesus, starting right now. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. And I believe you will keep your promise to accept me into your family for all eternity. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

¿Por qué nos preocupamos por estar bien con Dios?

“La buena noticia nos enseña que Dios acepta a los que creen en Jesús”. Romanos 1:17 (TLA)

Justicia es una palabra grande en la Biblia. Es utilizada cientos de veces. La Biblia dice que Dios ama la justicia y que Dios es justo. Dice que un día Dios va a juzgar al mundo con justicia. El Salmo 23 dice que Dios nos guía por sendas de justicia.

Así que, ¿qué es lo que significa esta palabra?

Yo la busqué en una ocasión en un diccionario teológico, y ¡había 27 páginas con la definición! Pero lo voy a reducir a dos conceptos: la justicia es una relación y un estilo de vida.

Justicia significa simplemente estar bien con Dios. Romanos 1:17 dice, “La buena noticia nos enseña que Dios acepta a los que creen en Jesús”. La buena noticia es que Dios nos hizo justos consigo mismo, a través de la muerte de Jesús como pago por nuestros pecados. Debido a la muerte de Jesús, podemos tener una relación personal con Dios.

Justicia es también un estilo de vida. Significa vivir de manera justa como Dios quiere. La Biblia dice en 1 Juan 2:29, “Ya que sabemos que Cristo es justo, también sabemos que todos los que hacen lo que es justo son hijos de Dios” (NTV).

Así que ¿por qué deberías preocuparte por estar bien con Dios? Porque es la única manera de vivir, y es el único camino al Cielo.

Cuando te desconectas de Dios, realmente no estás viviendo; sólo existes. En verdad, la mayoría de las personas en el mundo no están totalmente vivas. Sólo existen, tratando de llegar al siguiente fin de semana. Pero desconectarte de tu Creador que te hizo para un propósito, no tiene sentido.

La vida no se trata de la adquisición de cosas o de lograr objetivos. La vida se trata de conocer a Dios —quien te ama y te hizo para un propósito. Realmente no estás viviendo hasta que estás bien con Dios y tienes una relación con Él.

Justicia es también la manera de llegar al Cielo. Dios creó el cielo como un lugar para sus hijos que ama, y quiere que estés con Él para siempre. Él quiere que estés en el Cielo, pero no va a forzarte a ir al Cielo. Puedes estar desconectado de Dios aquí en la tierra, pero cuando tu vida aquí en la tierra se acabe, no tendrás una segunda oportunidad para elegir donde pasar la eternidad.

No puedes culpar a Dios, porque Él te da la opción ahora mismo para tener una relación con Él. ¡Él quiere que decidas amarlo! Y cuando lo hagas, estarás bien con Él. ¡Eso cambiará tu vida, aquí en la tierra y en la eternidad!

Si estás bien con Dios, ¿por qué todavía Él quiere que aprendas y crezcas en madurez espiritual?¿Qué significa tener una relación con Dios? ¿Cómo lo ves en tu vida?¿Cómo explicarías “justicia” en tus propias palabras a otra persona? ¿Qué diferencia ha hecho en tu vida el estar bien con Dios?

God Wants to Spend Eternity With You

“If the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from death, lives in you, then he who raised Christ from death will also give life to your mortal bodies by the presence of his Spirit in you.”

Romans 8:11 (GNT)

God never promised that life would be fair. Heaven is where everything is done God’s way; life on Earth just doesn’t work like that. We live on a broken planet.

But what happens on Earth isn’t all there is to life.

You’ll spend 60, 80, or maybe 100 years on Earth. You’ll spend trillions of years in eternity. If you’ve placed your faith in Jesus, the Bible says you’ll spend eternity with God in heaven.

That’s one of the most important reasons Christians should be joyful—God has given us eternal life!

And eternity will be amazing.

The Bible promises: “If the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from death, lives in you, then he who raised Christ from death will also give life to your mortal bodies by the presence of his Spirit in you” (Romans 8:11 GNT).

What will heaven be like? You’ll be reunited with people you love. You’ll get rewards. You’ll get rest. You’ll get responsibilities you love.

And, as Romans 8:11 says, you’ll get a new body. That’s one of the things I’m most excited about in heaven—no more decaying old body.

You were created because God wants a family. He wants to spend eternity with his family. He wants to spend eternity with you and me! And that truth can bring you great joy.

Talk It Over

How does knowing that life is short compared to all of eternity change the way you live?
If God wants you in heaven with him, why do you think you are here on Earth now? What is your purpose for the time you are here?
How are you working to fulfill your purpose?

God wants you in his family

God made you to love you, and one of the places you see that most clearly is on the cross. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, God made it possible for you to become part of his family for eternity. No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can start with: “Dear God, I know when I die, I’m going to give an account of my life to you. I know I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I know I don’t deserve it, but I humbly ask for your forgiveness. I want to turn away from my sins and toward you.

“I want to change my life and follow Jesus, starting right now. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. And I believe you will keep your promise to accept me into your family for all eternity. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

La Gentileza es un trabajo desde el Alma

“Vengan a mí todos los que están cansados y llevan cargas pesadas, y yo les daré descanso. Pónganse mi yugo. Déjenme enseñarles, porque yo soy humilde y tierno de corazón, y encontrarán descanso para el alma”. Mateo 11:28-29 (NTV)

La gentileza es una cualidad importante para que la practiques. Es persuasiva. Es atractiva. Comunica el amor.

Lo más importante, es que la gentileza te hace más como Jesús. Mateo 11:28-29 dice: “Vengan a mí todos los que están cansados y llevan cargas pesadas, y yo les daré descanso. Pónganse mi yugo. Déjenme enseñarles, porque yo soy humilde y tierno de corazón, y encontrarán descanso para el alma” (NTV).

¿Esto significa que el estrés que sientes en la vida es porque no eres gentil? Sí. Porque la Biblia dice que cuanto más gentil seas, más serás como Cristo y más descansado estarás.

¿Quieres estar en paz? ¿Quieres ser como Jesús? No se puede salir por la puerta y obligarte a ser gentil. No se puede fabricar gentileza, porque dentro de ti todavía estarás bajo estrés. Tienes que hacer un trabajo “interno”. Tienes que tener el fruto del Espíritu de Dios dentro de ti.

Jesús es manso y humilde. Cuando dejas que Él comparta tu carga, tendrás que caminar con Él en una relación muy cercana. Tú aprenderás cómo ser manso y humilde, y te dará descanso y paz, no estrés y presión.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Qué significa tomar el yugo de Jesús sobre ti?¿Has utilizado tú o alguien que conoces la excusa de que “simplemente no eres una persona amable”? ¿Qué otros rasgos aprendidos tratamos a veces como si fueran propios?¿Cómo has visto una diferencia en tu vida, incluyendo el volverse más gentil, desde que te hiciste creyente y recibiste el Espíritu Santo?

Three Ways to Look at Trouble in Light of Eternity

“Let heaven fill your thoughts; don’t spend your time worrying about things down here.”

Colossians 3:2 (TLB)

When you live in light of eternity, you don’t get discouraged as easily by trouble. You don’t give up because you know what is coming is the best gift you’ve ever been given. 

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, “That is why we never give up . . . These troubles and sufferings of ours are, after all, quite small and won’t last very long. Yet this short time of distress will result in God’s richest blessing upon us forever and ever! So we do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us, but we look forward to the joys in heaven which we have not yet seen. The troubles will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever” (TLB).

I don’t know what trouble you’re going through right now, but I can tell you three things about it:

One, it’s not going to last. Even if it lasts your entire lifetime, it’s still not going to last forever.Second, whether or not you caused the problem you’re going through right now, God will still use it for good in your life. It will even build your character if you’ll surrender it to him.
Third, you’re going to be rewarded for your suffering for Christ in eternity forever.

When you arrive in heaven, you’ll be in awe of being in the presence of Jesus. But if you weren’t so overwhelmed by Christ’s presence, your first thought would probably be something like: “What was I thinking? Why did I spend so much time trying to impress people? Trying to be popular? Trying to pile up a bunch of money on Earth? I had no time to serve God, no time to give, no time to share, no time for relationships, no time for what matters most. I was doing all the seemingly right things. But why didn’t I make more time for what mattered most?”

So much of what you do—even some of the good things—is not going to last. You need to realize that every second of your life has eternal implications. Every decision. Every thought. Every action. Every word. Every attitude. Every feeling. Every kindness. Every sin.

Colossians 3:2 says, “Let heaven fill your thoughts; don’t spend your time worrying about things down here” (TLB).

God is watching and testing you to see what you will receive in heaven. When you live a purpose driven life, you are constantly asking questions like: Will this last? Does it deserve my money? Does it deserve my time? Does it deserve my reputation?

And most importantly, you need to ask: Does it make a difference for God’s forever kingdom?

Talk It Over

If you let heaven fill your thoughts, what would change about how you view your current circumstances?
What does it mean to surrender your trouble to God?
To what temporary, earthly thing have you been giving too much of your time, emotions, and energy? How will you shift your focus today?

God wants you in his family.

God made you to love you, and one of the places you see that most clearly is on the cross. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, God made it possible for you to become part of his family for eternity. No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

“Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I humbly ask you to save me. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe you will keep your promise to save me instantly, certainly, completely, and eternally. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
