Dios está Tratando de Hablar Contigo

“Esto dice el Señor: “¡No tengan miedo! No se desalienten por este poderoso ejército, porque la batalla no es de ustedes, sino de Dios”. 2 Crónicas 20:15 (NTV)

La oración es una conversación, no un monólogo. Cuando ores, ¡no seas el único que hable! No puedes construir una amistad con Dios si no dejas que te hable.

¿Cómo dejas que Dios te hable? A través de la Biblia. Todo lo que Dios quiere decirte, ya está en su Palabra. La gente siempre está buscando alguna señal, pensando “Ojalá Dios me dijera lo que quiere que haga. Ojalá lo escribiera en el cielo”. ¡Dios no va a escribir su voluntad en el cielo porque ya la tiene escrita en un Libro!

Deja de buscar una señal y comienza a mirar las Escrituras. Deja de buscar una visión y comienza a buscar un versículo. La voluntad de Dios está en la Palabra de Dios. Cuanto más leas su Libro, más sabrás qué hacer.

El rey Josafat se enfrentaba a tres ejércitos enemigos que se unieron y avanzaron contra él e Israel. Israel sabía que no tenían la fuerza para luchar contra ellos. Sabían que, en su propio poder, serían derrotados. Así que oraron por ayuda. Esto es lo que Dios les dijo por medio de uno de su pueblo:

“«¡Escuchen, habitantes de Judá y de Jerusalén! ¡Escuche, rey Josafat! Esto dice el Señor: “¡No tengan miedo! No se desalienten por este poderoso ejército, porque la batalla no es de ustedes, sino de Dios.  Mañana, marchen contra ellos. Los encontrarán subiendo por la cuesta de Sis al extremo del valle que da al desierto de Jeruel. Sin embargo, ustedes ni siquiera tendrán que luchar. Tomen sus posiciones; luego quédense quietos y observen la victoria del Señor. Él está con ustedes, pueblo de Judá y de Jerusalén. No tengan miedo ni se desalienten. ¡Salgan mañana contra ellos, porque el Señor está con ustedes!”». Entonces el rey Josafat se inclinó rostro en tierra y todo el pueblo de Judá y de Jerusalén hizo lo mismo en adoración al Señor” 2 Crónicas 20:15-18 (NTV).

Imagina a toda una nación tirada en el suelo, hincándose de rodillas y adorando a Dios porque les dijo: “Yo me encargaré de eso”.

Cuando haces una oración de rendición para abrir camino y avanzar en tu vida como lo hizo Josafat, Dios te dirá lo mismo. ¡Así que no tengas miedo ni te desanimes! Es la batalla de Dios, y Él la manejará. Sigue sirviendo en tu posición. Espera y observa lo que Dios hace.

Dios tiene muchas más promesas increíbles para ti. Pero nunca las sabrás hasta que abras la Biblia y comiences a leer.

How Does God Respond to Your Generosity?

“God is able to make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more so that there will not only be enough for your own needs but plenty left over to give joyfully to others.”

2 Corinthians 9:8 (TLB)

I heard a story about a man who took his son to McDonald’s and bought him super-size French fries. On the way home, he reached over and took one little French fry and ate it. His son got upset and said, “Dad, you can’t have that. These are my fries!” The dad immediately had three thoughts: 

“First, my child has forgotten that I am the source of all fries. I took him to McDonald’s, I paid for the order, I gave them to him, and I’m driving him back home. The only reason he got any fries was because of me, the Great Fry Giver! 

“Second, my child doesn’t realize I could take the fries away in a second if I wanted to. Or I could buy him an entire truckload of fries if I wanted to, because I have the power to do either.

“Third, I didn’t need his fries. I could easily get my own. I could buy myself a hundred cartons of them if I wanted to. I just wanted him to learn to be unselfish.”

Those three lessons are the same ones God wants you to learn so that you can be generous with other people. First, God wants you to remember that he is the source of everything you’ve got. You would have nothing—you wouldn’t even be alive!—if it weren’t for God. Second, God could take it all away from you in an instant, or he could double it, because he’s got the power. Third, God doesn’t need your money. He just wants you to learn to be unselfish and develop your faith. 

What happens when you start becoming a more generous person? “God is able to make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more so that there will not only be enough for your own needs but plenty left over to give joyfully to others” (2 Corinthians 9:8 TLB).

If you will practice generosity, God will give you everything you need plus more so you’ll have enough to share with other people. He’s looking for a channel like a straw, and when he finds it—someone who’s willing to say, “God, use me to be a blessing to other people”—he just starts pouring blessing straight through it. 

If you will learn to be generous, God will bless you more than you can imagine!

Dios es Todopoderoso, así que Tú no Tienes que Serlo

“Oh Dios nuestro, ¿no los vas a detener? Somos impotentes ante este ejército poderoso que está a punto de atacarnos. No sabemos qué hacer, pero en ti buscamos ayuda”. 2 Crónicas 20:12 (NTV)

Las oraciones para abrir camino y avanzar en tu vida son diferentes de otras oraciones.

Es probable que a menudo ores y le pidas a Dios Su ayuda, fortaleza o sabiduría. Cuando dices: “Dios, necesito tu ayuda”, eso significa que todavía crees que puedes lograrlo con la ayuda de Dios. ¡Y no hay nada malo con esas oraciones!

Pero cuando haces una oración para abrir camino y avanzar en tu vida, dices: “Dios, no puedo hacer esto. Está más allá de mi capacidad. Necesito que hagas esto porque yo no puedo”. Es la oración que oras cuando te sientes impotente.

Esta oración es en realidad el primer paso del programa de “Celebremos la Recuperación”, que dice: “Me doy cuenta de que no soy Dios; admito que soy incapaz de controlar mi tendencia a hacer las cosas mal y confieso que mi vida es ingobernable”. Luego de centrarte en Dios, este es el segundo paso de una oración para abrir camino y avanzar en tu vida.

Después de que el rey Josafat dirigió su atención a Dios, dijo: “Oh Dios nuestro, ¿no los vas a detener? Somos impotentes ante este ejército poderoso que está a punto de atacarnos. No sabemos qué hacer, pero en ti buscamos ayuda” 2 Crónicas 20:12 (NTV).

Deberías hacer lo mismo cuando estés orando para abrir camino y avanzar en tu vida. Primero, le dices a Dios exactamente cómo te sientes. ¿Te sientes impotente, como si hubieras estado luchando contra algo constantemente sin ningún cambio? ¡Dile a Dios! Dile que te sientes inútil y admite tu debilidad.

No tienes que ser poderoso o saberlo todo si estás conectado con Dios, porque Él es todopoderoso y omnisciente. No tienes que estar en todos los lugares si estás conectado con Dios, porque Él está en todas partes.

¿Qué debes hacer cuando te encuentras en una situación que no puedes controlar, cambiar o manejar? Debes esperar y confiar en todas las cosas que sabes que son ciertas acerca de Dios.

A veces la fe significa no hacer nada. Simplemente te quedas quieto, esperas y confías. Si tratas de hacer algo al respecto, devuelves el control a tu cancha.

Así es como se veía la fe en 2 Crónicas: “Todos los hombres de Judá estaban de pie ante el Señor junto con sus esposas, sus hijos y aun los niños pequeños” 2 Crónicas 20:13 (NTV). Esto no significa que estuvieron de pie durante cinco minutos. Podrían haber estado de pie ante el Señor durante horas. Simplemente de pie, le estaban diciendo a Dios que lo que estaban enfrentando era demasiado grande para ellos. Estaban en el final de sus fuerzas, pero siguieron aguantando, porque confiaron en que Dios proveería.

Cuando necesites abrir camino y avanzar en tu vida, sigue su ejemplo. Espera, observa y confía.

¿Por qué tiendes a tratar de aferrarte al poder, incluso cuando sabes que no puedes cambiar algo?¿Qué se ha vuelto inmanejable en tu vida?¿Qué te dificulta esperar que Dios haga el trabajo que no puedes hacer por ti mismo?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Your Heart Goes Where You Give

“The congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul . . . all things were common property to them.”

Acts 4:32 (NASB)

When we’re generous with each other, we draw closer to each other, and that creates community.

Someone from my church sent me a letter that read: “My neighbor asked if he could borrow my ladder, and I said, ‘Of course.’ I later learned that he already had one of his own. He didn’t need to borrow my ladder; he just used it as a way to build our relationship. When he borrowed my stuff, it made me feel that I was needed, and I liked that feeling. I’ve now learned to do the same thing with my other neighbors.”

The letter continued, “Another neighbor has a shop vac, and I borrow it every Friday night to clean my car with my son. In fact, now Roger leaves it out for me. I told Roger recently that I could afford to buy my own shop vac, but I just like the interaction of borrowing his. Roger asked me to please not buy one for myself. He had learned to see the connection between generosity and community.”

The Bible says in Matthew 6:21, “Your heart will be where your treasure is” (NCV). In other words, whatever you put your time, money, and energy into is what’s going to attract you. So anytime you’re generous with your church or a neighbor or with the poor, that’s where your heart will go. Every time you give to God, it draws your heart closer to God.

The first Christians were famous for their generosity. Acts 4:32 tells us that “the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul . . . all things were common property to them” (NASB). They were a family; their sharing was voluntary. Christian generosity says, “What’s mine is yours, and I can share it with you.”

As a parent, do you enjoy watching your kids share with each other? Of course you do. One of the primary lessons of life is learning how to share. When you see your kids being unselfish, it makes you happy. 

God is the same way! When God looks down on us and sees us being generous with each other, he goes, “That’s my boy! That’s my girl! They’re doing what I want them to do,” because God is generous, and he wants us to become like him. Generosity creates community.

Para Abrir Camino y Avanzar en tu vida, Mantén tu enfoque en Dios

“Josafat quedó aterrado con la noticia y le suplicó al Señor que lo guiara”. 2 Crónicas 20:3 (NTV)

En una crisis, es natural comenzar a explicarle a Dios lo que está pasando y pedirle ayuda. Él quiere que le hables y le abras tu corazón. Pero no comiences tu oración diciéndole a Dios lo que necesitas. Dios quiere que te concentres en Él.

Cuando tres naciones enemigas decidieron unirse contra el rey Josafat e Israel, el rey sabía que no había forma de que pudiera superar esas probabilidades, por lo que oró. Su oración te muestra cómo comenzar tus oraciones enfocándote en Dios.

Primero, recuerda la grandeza de Dios.

Josafat oró: “Oh Señor, Dios de nuestros antepasados, solo tú eres el Dios que está en el cielo. Tú eres el gobernante de todos los reinos de la tierra. Tú eres fuerte y poderoso. ¡Nadie puede hacerte frente!” 2 Crónicas 20:6 (NTV).

Cuando ores por algo que no puedes controlar, no te concentres en el problema. Enfócate en la grandeza de Dios. Cuanto más grande se pone Dios en tu mente, más pequeño se volverá el problema.

Luego, recuerda el poder ilimitado de Dios.

“Oh Dios nuestro, ¿acaso no expulsaste a los que vivían en esta tierra cuando llegó tu pueblo Israel? ¿Acaso no les diste esta tierra para siempre a los descendientes de tu amigo Abraham?” 2 Crónicas 20:7 (NTV).

Cuando te das cuenta de que Dios tiene todo el poder del mundo, puedes simplemente confiar en Él. Mientras oras, piensa en todas las formas en que Dios te ha ayudado a ti, a otras personas y a las personas en la Biblia.

Luego, recuérdale a Dios sus promesas.

Josafat le recordó a Dios que le prometió a Israel que la tierra sería de ellos para siempre. Dios también te ha hecho promesas a ti. De hecho, hay miles de promesas para ti en la Biblia. Cuando tus hijos te recuerdan las promesas que les has hecho, puede ser frustrante. Pero a Dios le encanta que le citen su Palabra.

Finalmente, pídele a Dios que abra camino para avanzar en tu vida.

Josafat dijo de las fuerzas atacantes: “Oh Dios nuestro, ¿no los vas a detener? Somos impotentes ante este ejército poderoso que está a punto de atacarnos. No sabemos qué hacer, pero en ti buscamos ayuda” 2 Crónicas 20:12 (NTV).

No le pidas a Dios que bendiga tu vida. Concéntrate en Él y luego dile específicamente lo que necesitas para abrir camino y avanzar en tu vida. Entonces lo verás proveer mientras oras como Josafat.

¿Quién es la primera persona con la que hablas cuando te enfrentas a algo que parece estar fuera de control? ¿En qué momento llevas tus preocupaciones a Dios?¿Cuál es una situación específica en la que necesitas que Dios te dé un gran avance?¿Cómo puedes saber lo que Dios te ha prometido en su Palabra?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Which Will You Serve: God or Money?

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

Matthew 6:24 (NIV)

Would you agree that we live in a culture of materialism? The goal is to get more and more and more. And just about the time you catch up with the Joneses, they refinance or file bankruptcy. And just about the time you think you’ve got it all, the Black Friday advertisements come out, and they tell you about all kinds of things you didn’t know you couldn’t live without. 

It’s tough keeping your priorities right when you live in a society that’s all about “getting.” The one with the most toys wins, right? No! The one with the most toys still dies, whether or not you’ve got toys.

There is only one antidote to materialism: generosity. Every time you’re generous, you have a spiritual victory in your heart. Every time you’re generous, your heart grows. Every time you’re generous, you break the grip of materialism in your life. Why? Because materialism is all about getting—get, get, get, get! It is your nature to get and to hold on.

But every time you’re generous, you are breaking that grip and defeating materialism in your life. 

By the way, that’s why, if you’re a parent, you need to make sure your kids see you giving. They need to see you being generous because they’re not going to learn it anywhere else. Make sure they see you model generosity so that they can learn it too.

The Bible says in Matthew 6:24, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money” (NIV). Notice it doesn’t say you “should not.” It says you “cannot.” It’s impossible. You can’t have two number ones in your life. 

You have to choose what’s going to have first place in your heart. Choose generosity. It will transform your relationships with other people and your relationship with God. It will change you from the inside out as you learn to be generous like God is generous with you.

Talk It Over

What part of your finances have taken control of your life? How does your perspective change when you consider that money has power over you and you are serving it—instead of the other way around?
How can you simultaneously model both generosity and humility to your kids?
In what ways has God been generous with you? Be specific.

Where will you spend eternity?

Your sins separate you from God. And it is only God’s grace that allows you back into a right relationship with him.

The Bible says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).

If you’re ready to make peace with your Creator, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, I don’t want my sin to separate me from you any longer. You have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe you are my Savior. You have promised that if I confess my sin and trust you, I will be saved. I believe you when you say salvation comes by grace, through faith, and not by anything I do. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning over every part of my life to your management.

“I want to live the way you created me to live and use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

La Palabra de Dios te da más Descanso y menos Estrés

“Concéntrense en todo lo que es verdadero, todo lo honorable, todo lo justo, todo lo puro, todo lo bello y todo lo admirable. Piensen en cosas excelentes y dignas de alabanza”. Filipenses 4:8 (NTV)

Cada vez es más difícil mantenerse enfocado en las cosas verdaderas. La Biblia dice: “Concéntrense en todo lo que es verdadero, todo lo honorable, todo lo justo, todo lo puro, todo lo bello y todo lo admirable. Piensen en cosas excelentes y dignas de alabanza” Filipenses 4:8 (NTV).

Esto requiere un cambio mental. Significa que tendrás que desarrollar nuevos y mejores hábitos.

Tu mente es bombardeada con mentiras todos los días. Los anuncios y las redes sociales te dicen que, si no piensas, vistes o actúas de cierta manera, no importas. Cuando estás creciendo, te dicen que, si no eres bueno en lo académico o en el atletismo, no importas. Este mundo está lleno de mentiras y te has creído muchas de ellas. Pero simplemente no son ciertas.

La única manera de contrarrestar esas mentiras es llenar tu mente con la verdad. La verdad es que eres un hijo de Dios. Tú le importas. Jesús dijo que cuando conoces la verdad, la verdad te hará libre.

Ser liberado significa abrir camino y avanzar en tu vida. Quiero que avances en tu vida. Pero la única manera en que puedes hacer eso es estar todos los días en la Palabra de Dios, la Biblia, aunque sea solo por unos minutos.

Si crees que no puedes hacer eso, solo considera cuántas horas pasas en las redes sociales, en la televisión o leyendo las noticias. ¿Cómo vas a tener una mente sana si estás llenando tu mente con mentiras en lugar de la verdad?

No todo lo que escuchas es verdad. No todo lo que te dices a ti mismo es verdad. Tienes que leer la Biblia todos los días, porque Dios siempre dirá la verdad. Puedes confiar en lo que dice de ti y en las promesas que te ha hecho en su Palabra porque siempre cumple sus promesas.

¿Qué sucede cuando mantienes tu mente en las cosas correctas?

“Así experimentarán la paz de Dios, que supera todo lo que podemos entender. La paz de Dios cuidará su corazón y su mente mientras vivan en Cristo Jesús” Filipenses 4:7 (NTV).

¿No te gustaría tener tu corazón y tu mente en reposo? Ese es el camino y el avance en la vida que todos necesitamos: menos estrés y más descanso. Comienza hoy a abrir camino y avanzar en tu vida, entrando en la Palabra de Dios.

Why Empathy Is Essential for Strong Relationships?

“All of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.”

1 Peter 3:8 (NIV)

You’re never going to live in harmony with your spouse, your friends, or anybody else without empathy. You can’t have a team without being aware of what’s happening with your teammates. That’s why when people work together in an office, they may do work together, but they’re not a team unless they know what’s going on in each other’s lives.

Empathy is so important because it meets two of our deepest needs: the fundamental need to be understood and a deep need to have our feelings validated.

So how do you become an empathetic person?

Slow down.
Because our culture teaches us to move fast, we end up relationally skimming. That means you’re hitting the high points and missing all kinds of details in the lives of people you care about most. James 1:19 says, “You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry” (NLT). 

Ask questions.
Proverbs 20:5 says, “A person’s thoughts are like water in a deep well, but someone with insight can draw them out” (GNT). Most people hold their emotions pretty close, and they don’t automatically share how they’re doing. “I’m fine” is the standard answer, but that doesn’t really tell you how they feel. 

If you ask, ”How are you doing?” and the other person says, “I’m fine,” here’s how you draw out a more telling response: Learn to ask the question twice. Pause and say, “No, how are you really doing?”  

The other thing you do is learn to linger. That means don’t be afraid of silence. Be in the moment, ask the question, and don’t immediately go into your agenda. Just listen and learn.

Show emotions.
The Bible says in Romans 12:15, “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep” (NASB). Empathy is more than saying, “I’m sorry you hurt.” It’s saying, “I hurt with you.” You’re willing to cry with them, and you’re willing to rejoice with them. 

There’s only one way you’re going to be that empathetic: Stay in communion with God. That means start your day with a quiet time, talk to God in prayer throughout your day, and encourage and be encouraged by your small group and Christian friends. 

“All of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble” (1 Peter 3:8 NIV).

¿Realmente Puedes Estar Agradecido en Todas las Circunstancias?

“Sean agradecidos en toda circunstancia, pues esta es la voluntad de Dios para ustedes, los que pertenecen a Cristo Jesús”. 1 Tesalonicenses 5:18 (NTV)

No importa lo que le pidas a Dios, debes pedirlo con una actitud de gratitud. Puedes pedirle a Dios lo que necesites, pero hazlo con un corazón agradecido por lo que ya Él ha hecho.

La Biblia dice: “Sean agradecidos en toda circunstancia, pues esta es la voluntad de Dios para ustedes, los que pertenecen a Cristo Jesús” 1 Tesalonicenses 5:18 (NTV). Muchas personas quieren saber cuál es la voluntad de Dios para sus vidas. Pero Dios no te va a mostrar el paso dos hasta que hagas primero el paso uno. Aquí está el primer paso: Sé agradecido. Esta es la voluntad de Dios.

Primero agradece lo que Dios ya te ha dado: tu vida, mente, libertad, alimento. ¡Todo lo que tienes es un regalo de Dios! Se agradecido por todo eso.

La Biblia dice que demos gracias en todas las circunstancias. Nota que no dice dar gracias por todas las circunstancias. Existe una gran diferencia. Hay muchas cosas en la vida por las que no deberías estar agradecido. Por ejemplo, nunca debes estar agradecido por el mal.

Dice, dar gracias en toda circunstancia, no por, porque Dios puede sacar bien aun de las cosas malas. Hay mucho mal en el mundo, y en estos días, es posible que veas más de lo que crees que puedes soportar. No deberías estar agradecido por esas cosas. Dios es más grande que el pecado. Puede sacar promesas del dolor, bendiciones del sufrimiento. Convierte las crucifixiones en resurrecciones.

Dios transforma las cosas malas de tu vida en cosas buenas y las usa para bien. Puedes ser agradecido en todo por varias razones: Dios tiene un plan para tu vida. Él puede usar todo en tu vida para bien. El dolor no va a durar para siempre. Si conoces a Jesús como Salvador, vas al cielo. Y usará incluso las cosas difíciles de la vida para construir tu carácter.

¿Sabes qué te ayudará a ser agradecido en todas las cosas? Cuando sucedan cosas malas, no preguntes: “¿Por qué me está pasando esto a mí?”. En su lugar, pregunta: “Dios, ¿qué quieres que aprenda de esto?”.

Cuando aprendes de Dios, creces más como Cristo. Entonces podrás ver mejor cómo está obrando en tu vida y darle las gracias en todas las circunstancias.

How to Become a Trustworthy Person

“Many people claim to be loyal, but it is hard to find a trustworthy person.”

Proverbs 20:6 (NCV)

Trust is the emotional glue that draws you closer to your friends, your family, and your small group. Without trust, you’re never going to have the intimate relationship that God wants you to have. Teamwork without trust is impossible.

Proverbs 20:6 says, “Many people claim to be loyal, but it is hard to find a trustworthy person” (NCV). That was written thousands of years ago, and yet we have the same dilemma today: Who do you trust? How do you find a trustworthy person? More importantly, how do you become a trustworthy person so that people trust you?

You earn people’s trust by being consistent.
The Bible says in Luke 16:10, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much” (NIV). Today everybody wants to serve God in the obvious and showy ways. But God says you build trust by being faithful in little things. Even when no one is watching you, God is. He sees what you’re doing. And he says that if you’re faithful in little things, he will give you greater and greater responsibility.

You earn people’s trust by being trustworthy.
People trust you when you can keep information confidential. One of the most important rules for small groups is that what is said in the group stays in the group. Your group trusts you to keep private whatever they share. Proverbs 11:13 says, “A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret” (NIV). 

You earn people’s trust by being close.
You have to spend time with people in order to earn their trust. The Bible says, “Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble” (Proverbs 17:17 The Message). That implies proximity. Distance creates distrust. You don’t trust people you don’t know! So if you want people to trust you, you’ve got to spend time with them. Time creates trust. 

Do you want people to trust you? Then ask God for help to be more consistent, trustworthy, and close to the people he has placed in your life.
