Author Interview – Lindsay Downs – Spy Catcher
Let’s welcome author Lindsay Downs to my blog. He’s here to tell us about his latest release, Spy Catcher. Take a look at the cover; it looks great, doesn’t it? We’ll also learn about what has surprised Lindsay about being an author and whom he would cast as the hero and heroine if Spy Catcher was ever made into a movie.
So, let’s get the ball rolling.
Lindsay, I’m delighted to have you here. Tell us the most courageous thing you’ve ever done.
Having the guts to send in to a publisher my first manuscript not knowing if it would be accepted or not. Thus, began a long road to where I am today. Happy that I made that decision.
Is there anything about becoming a writer that has surprised you?
How addictive it can be. It seems there’s not a day that goes by where I don’t find myself working on one or two books, but not at the same time.
Plotter vs. Panster – Which one are you?
Panster all the way. I’ve tried plotting out a story but never stuck to it.
Would you like to share some juicy details about your book?
Sorry but this is a sweet so there aren’t any juicy scenes. Even the kisses in the orangery are tame.
If Spy Catcher was made into a movie, whom would you cast as the hero and heroine?
Hugh Grant would do the part justice while Gwyneth Paltrow, I totally love
So you’ve finished this story. What can readers expect from you next? When?
I’m writing the sequel, The Lost Earl, which is Toby Bowes’s story. You’ll read about him in Spy Catcher. I’m hoping to have it finished in time for a 2014 release.
While acting as chaperone to Lady Aleece at a house party, little does lady’s maid Debbi realize how her life will change.
Not prepared to fall in love nor see a man who bears an uncanny resemblance to her, Debbi’s world begins to turn upside down.
After several attempts on her life, and a run-in with yet another look-alike, she uncovers her true heritage, as the unknown daughter of a countess. Having been raised and trained as a lady’s maid, but educated alongside her employer, Debbi begins to wonder in which world she truly belongs.
Only when her new love’s life is threatened does Debbie claim her rightful place and do what’s necessary to save him.
Excerpt:
Later, curious to the sounds outside William stood staring out the window of his room which overlooked the forecourt. What interested him wasn’t so much the ducal seal on the traveling carriage door which was opened by Thomas, but the second of the two ladies who he assisted out.
The first he knew to be Lady Aleece, only child of the Duke and Duchess of Carlisle. The second young lady, if he were to hazard a guess, appeared to be much of the same age as the lady.
“This couldn’t possibly be the companion Thomas was talking about. She’s much too young and pretty.”
From the angle he was watching them greeted by Whitchurch’s offspring, it would appear the other woman was known to them as well.
With the skill of an artist he studied her. Slim but not too as the traveling gown gracing her form hugged every curves suggested. From under her fashionable bonnet he observed wisps of blonde hair tossed about by the gentle breeze.
He wondered what color her eyes were. Would they be blue, green, hazel or brown? With her lips, so pleasingly full and turned up slightly at the corners, he wagered passion would fill her beautiful orbs when kissed. Something he wagered he’d be doing before week’s end.
He watched as she glanced around her surroundings and when he saw her raise her head to take in the front of the mansion he ducked behind the heavy dark blue curtain. Once done he felt foolish for hiding from a woman, something he’d never done.
Thus, he knew the effect, even from a distance, this goddess had on him.

What does it take to be a bestselling author? Determination, skill, talent, luck or taking a risk with a venture into a totally new genre. For me it was a little of some and a lot of the others.
In 2008 when I got two books published I thought it was due to skill; little did I know it was more luck than anything. Over the next three years I wrote, submitted, got rejected. I then did what I tell everyone who asks; I wrote some more. I didn’t give up.
More on a dare than anything I tried my hand at a regency, one of the most difficult genres because of the rules, which I might add I broke almost every one. Within two days of its release the book was on a best seller list and stayed there for two months.Turns out it is all of the aforementioned.
After two failed marriages, one from divorce while with the other died unexpectedly I decided upon retirement to move. That opportunity came in September 2012 when I migrated to Texas. For me, as a multi-published author, it was one of the best things I’ve done to date. Now, every day I can write, creating stories to take my readers to places they can only dream about. I’m also a member of the Published Authors Network (PAN) by the Romance Writers of America (RWA).

My Sexy Saturday – He’s So Into You – Part 2
Welcome to Week 9 of My Sexy Saturday Blog Hop!
What does sexy mean? Hmmm… Today I’m obliged to provide two definitions of this word. First, sexy can be defined as a man’s determination to convince the woman he’s attracted to that she’s the most sensual, the most stimulating woman he’s ever met. Second, sexy can be defined as the very act of stripping off one’s clothes. Stripping off one’s clothes? Yes, this simple, seemingly innocent act can prove to be arousing and exciting to even the most casual observer.
In the following 7 paragraphs from my debut erotic romance novella, He’s So Into You, Jordan, the proverbial Alpha male, urges the heroine Raina to strip after she admits to him her cheating, emotionally abusive ex made her feel ugly and unwanted. But boy oh boy, when Raina begins to strip off her clothing, Jordan is barely able to contain himself because Raina’s voluptuous body turns him on.
Excerpt:
Jordan sat on the sofa. “Take off your clothes, beautiful.” His voice sounded raspy to his own ears. “Do it slowly.”
The scowl on Raina’s face was priceless. She arched a perfectly groomed eyebrow. “I hardly know you and you want me take my clothes off? Are you kidding me?”
“You wouldn’t be here if you thought I would do anything to hurt you. So, here’s the thing, I’m not going to repeat myself,” his voice was thick with emotion, and just the faintest note of warning. Her confession had really done him in. It was hard to imagine the beautiful woman standing before him had endured so much pain by a brute she had given her heart to and trusted. But, he’d be lying if he said she didn’t affect him physically, as well. His cock was so hard he felt it could bore a hole through his Levi’s. Jordan surreptitiously adjusted himself, since he didn’t want it to get sore before he’d even had a chance to use it on this tantalizing woman. At least, he hoped he’d have a chance to use it.
Jordan had every intention of doing and saying everything he could to make Raina see, without a shadow of doubt, she was attractive and a person deserving love, affection and the best life had to offer her. He heard her mutter under her breath. By the look on her face, he wouldn’t be surprised if she had a few choice words for him, but he didn’t let it faze him one damn bit. Jordan almost applauded when he saw his Raina—No, just Raina, dammit, hesitate only for a moment. When she released the band of her dress and peeled it slowly down her arms, exposing little by little, her surprisingly slender collarbone and the dark mysteries of her lightly powdered cleavage, Jordan felt as if he had died and entered paradise. He silently urged his greedy hands to stay still, because at the moment he wanted to grab her and plunge his tongue deep enough into her mouth to hit the back of her throat. After what seem like agonizing minutes in a gas chamber, he released his breath in relief when the damn dress finally fell to the floor. His baser desires were still not completely under control by the time she stepped out of her dress and kicked it aside.
Raina smiled shyly at him. She reached behind and unhooked her red lace bra, and slowly slid the straps down her arms and tossed it aside. Jordan almost shot his cum in his pants, like a sex-starved teenager, when he saw her generous breasts. Her nipples were so incredibly suckable. Jordan resisted the temptation to reach out and touch them right then and there. Raina hooked her fingers in the waistband of her scrap of underwear and gently rolled them down her thick thighs. Only a second later, she chucked them aside as well.
Jordan’s breath caught in his throat when his eyes zoomed to the center of her body. Her bald pussy almost had him coming undone. It was slick from her arousal and he could just glimpse her swollen clit.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
