If you’re feeling small, that is ok. If you’re worried and weighted down with fear or anxiety, if you’re overwhelmed or scared, that is ok. There is no wrong way through this, no wrong way to feel, as long as you know help is out there, always. Reach out to someone, to anyone, to me, if at any point things seem to be too much, reach out and ask for help, for an ear, for a moment. However you’re feeling, it’s ok, just know this is but a moment in time, and all moments come to pass. I love you all.

Been thinking about emptiness,
what becomes of us
if borders shut down, if sky
becomes silent and plane trails
vanish like clouds
on summer morning.
What will we be if isolated
and shut off, what
if fear and disease lock doors
and put chain on gate?
What will be the topography
of this new year,
of this new world sent
backwards, centuries really,
back to the before,
to the islands we lived on?
We must heal from this, we
must stop the backslide into
the dark hours, into the
pitch when we all were strangers
and feared one another.
Been thinking on silence,
and the one that is
on the horizon.

We will see the world and spread joy instead of sickness, we will hold each other close again, long embraces, tears shared as we are cheek to cheek. One day, we will adventure forth, we will connect, we will be united again in new ways, bonds deepened by this forced absence. One day, the wanderlust in our hearts will bloom, and we will seek the light of the sun in foreign skies. One day, in some near future, we will travel again.

This isn’t what moonlight
was made for,
not painting rooftops
and building walls, not
drowned out with streetlamp,
with car horn and
hustle.
Moonlight is for sea,
for endless fields of wheat
in soft breeze,
moonlight is for dirt road
and dark tree on
horizon.
Moonlight is for hands,
for silence, for crunch
of earth under foot.
Seek the silver away
from the gold,
away from the glowing
pollution
we send into the heavens,
away from all the lights
we never put
out.

There is a lot you cannot control right now, big picture things...
There is a lot you cannot control right now, big picture things that spiral out of control and make us feel helpless. Instead of fighting this, focus on the tiny details, the hidden things our busy lives once hid. Use this time of stillness and quiet to find the textures of the life around us, marvel at the little things, and as I have said a dozen billion times, seek out the miracles in the mundane. They are there, disguised in plain sight, all around us. I love you all.

Fumbling off the edge
of sickness,
last days where ache
remains, but hope
lights up
the horizon.
What was I,
wondered in haze
of soreness and
insomnia,
before this?
Such drama,
a time or two
each year,
we swear this
will be the one
that undoes
us.
