Distinctions
Now Neeson, yesterday Northam, awhile ago Al Franken. Who’s next and what horror will they have committed?
These guys are not serial offenders and power abusers like Weinstein and Moonves. Those guys deserve whatever they get. Neeson, Northam and Franken do not. Can’t you see the difference? The piling on these guys are getting is a shame, a PC (Politically Correct) fad. Goes right along with the so-called liberals supporting Maduro. And the same kind of Americans that supported Stalin in the thirties. Distinctions matter. The style now seems to be throw the baby out with the bathwater. To me, this trend has a bit of McCarthy in it, doesn’t it?

The Game
The game is over, but the Game never ends.
I hope your team won. But now it’s done.
Life goes on and has consequences.
Treating life and politics as if it were a competition to be decided in a few hours, a contest with winners and losers and no real consequences, is becoming normal, especially in American politics.
The fact that 49% of Americans eligible to vote decided they didn’t want to play the Game in 2016, that a plague on both their houses was the way to teach ’em a lesson had consequences no one could have anticipated and brought us today.
Thinking of politics as a game, as a sporting event with no serious consequences in which you pick your team, maybe vote, and it’s over, is dangerous. We’ve got to be mindful of that kind of thinking. It’s not useful and has serious consequences. Politics is not a game, it’s the way we decide who we are and what kind of Nation we want to be for years to come.

Now
In this instant there is no past or future only now. All hope, compassion and possibility exists only now in this instant.
The ego would have me believe if I’m not happy now, it’s because of thoughts and actions I or others took in the distant past (over which I have no control now) not because of thoughts or actions I’m taking now. I’m the innocent victim of those old thoughts and actions. Bull shit!
I do think that way, probably you do too. But its bull shit. Now is all there is. If I’m unhappy its because of what I’m doing and thinking now. All the resources I need are available to me right here, right now. If I change my stinkin’ thinkin’, I change what things mean and what’s possible. Try it. You’ll see.

Courage
If you don’t change your direction, you’re liable to end up where you’re headed.
Courage comes from the same place as fear; from the realms of uncertainty. Courage is a leap of faith. A sense that the promise of vision is greater than the certainty of the past.
If you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you always got.
If you want things to be different, have the courage to take the leap of faith – that yourSelf always available, will guide and support you.

Minimum Qualifications #MinQuals
To be a beautician in FL you need 1,200 Cosmology School hours + an exam.
You need a license to drive.
To be a General Contractor you need four years of experience and prove financial stability.
To be a nurse, physician or lawyer, you need many years of college.
To sell real estate in FL you need sixty three hours of classroom training and at least a score of 75 out of a 100 on an exam.
What are the requirements for President of the United States? For members of Congress; Governor, State Legislators, County Commissioners or Mayors? It’s not even necessary to be honest and of ‘good character’. Consider the current President.
Is it wise to give such vast power to people with no qualifications?
Even dogs need licenses!
Two hundred and fifty years ago, the founders thought leaving decisions about quals to the ‘people’ made sense. After all, it was a more innocent time and it was a new democracy. The founders also warned about political parties; thought eligible voters would vote, and vote their self, national and community interest intelligently. Today the parties decide who will ‘run’ and the ‘people’, 49% of which did not vote in 2016, vote as partisans at a football game, without appreciating the impacts of their governments on themselves, their children and the world.
This need not be. We are fully capable of establishing minimum quals for the highest offices in our Nation. We must protect ourselves from another Trump. The parties can remain (Yech!) and everyone can vote, but only for people who have met the minimal quals. I mean think about it…beauticians need 1,200 hours of course work. Duh!

Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Already Taken
As he lay dying, the great Medieval sage Rabi Akiba told a colleague at his bedside, “I’m afraid of God’s judgment.”
“Why is that?”
“I have not done all I could. I have not lived the life of Moses.”
“Ah. But you have lived the life of Akiba. God will judge you for that.”

Death
If we stay with the movie projector metaphor from last post, death is an illusion, too. Part of the way we express our fear of losing our selves to our Self. Realizing our true nature as pure energy, as butterflies dreaming we are people, can awaken us from the nightmare of death to the reality of endless life. No dogma or rituals are necessary to accomplish this. Just understanding, desire and appreciation. We believe in death because we see it as an escape from the mess we’ve made. But if we accept our oneness and join with our Self, we can see that death as part of the duality of the ego’s illusion of life on earth.
But if all is oneness and there is no duality, no light and dark, death and life, then there is only life and the peace that passeth understanding here and now. Death is not a natural law and has nothing to do with the benign eternal energy we call ‘God’. Death cannot be escape, because the problem isn’t in living, it’s believing the nightmare is living. In the instants we return to our minds and choose a different set of beliefs we are truly alive and free as air. We are spirit and spirit neither lives nor dies, it’s not born. Spirit is life; it just is.
