Irony and Political Porn

Now media is exploiting the Dem’s 2020 picks. Soon they’ll complain we start campaigning too early. They want it both ways. Perhaps they might try some self control. They say they’re only responding to what people want. Well, people want porn too and you don’t see much of that on the six o’clock so called news. 

What they’re doing is political porn. Porn has a place but not as ‘news’. They’re having it both ways. This whole trend of pandering, speeding things up and going only for the money is debasing the commons – the space we share for discourse – make meaningful discourse difficult. 

Have you noticed, they’re complaining about that too?

Still Forgiving (There’s so much to forgive!)

Of course I need to do it mostly for myself. But what a load of personal responsibility is lifted when I realize that the power I call ‘God’ holds nothing against me or anyone! Forgiveness is a reflection of loving myself enough to move on. It’s always my choice, and choosing to blame anyone for anything is self inflicted suffering. (Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.)

Forgiving doesn’t have to mean I welcome the ‘forgivee’ as a friend. It simply means the cause of my pain, sadness or disappointment is now charge neutral, just another memory. I can now use the energy to move on to something more useful and beneficial.

The Gift

How difficult would it be to choose between the fruits of judgment and forgiveness if they were laid side by side? Which would you choose?  “Who with the love of God upholding him would find the choice between miracles and murder hard to make?” – Course in Miracles.

The way we keep the love of the power we call ‘God’ safe within us is to give it away to all the world. We must share it to have it. To give this gift is how we make it ours. We don’t have less love and forgiveness when we give it away. We have more. It flows naturally from source unless we interfere with it. 

Isn’t it time to stop interfering with it and let it flow thru you?

Forgiveness I

“If it were really clear that holding on to judgments brings pain, and that letting go of them brings happiness, there would be no problem.” Course in Miracles.

“Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them.” Bruce Lee

We think forgiveness neutralizes the mistakes of others. OK. But what if it also and more importantly, neutralizes our judgments of others and ourselves? Thoughts and actions are essentially neutral until we or someone else judges them, right? Even murder may have an acceptable explanation, like self defense.

Judgment is a heavy burden. It’s purpose is to establish guilt, justify punishment and hopefully bring change. But, how satisfying is cringing change wrought from guilt and punishment? For routine, day-to-day mistakes and affronts, is judgment the best way to correct them? Isn’t forgiveness based on a clear understanding of what happened, genuine acceptance of responsibility and a desire to change better?

Power

The power within is the same power that holds the planets in place. Hard to believe. I often forget. I use that creative power every time I have a thought. Life is full of my creations. Arrogance? Ego? No, just the way it works. 

If I understand this, I can stop blaming and  being a victim and transform what’s not working for me by loving what is, as Byron Katie teaches, by taking responsibility for my thoughts and changing how I think. 

How I see myself – what I identify with – matters. I can choose to remember the power within, let go of my stinkin’ thinkin’ and be guided by the peace that passeth understanging to take the action that will work best for all concerned.

Formal Religions

Our reality as spirit – a Oneness joined as One – can only be glimpsed here. Therefore it makes itself known to us in a multiplicity of forms – different experience, bodies, and teachings. The challenge is not to make these differences significant. Unfortunately, formal religions do make the differences significant. They take the one message – the mystery of Oneness joined as One – and proclaim exclusivity – only they have the Answer.

Let’s honor the message and not make the forms significant.

The Veil

It’s impossible to experience Oneness for very long here in the world of flesh, blood and bone. For this is, by design, a world of separation. Yet even here, the veil of flesh, blood and bone may be lifted, and transcendent experiences of Oneness – a melody, a taste, a smile, a vision, a feeling, a scent – may be had. Oneness is spirit, not of this world, but when the veil is lifted we may experience it here and know it as ourSelf.
