The Fork in the Road

As Yogi Berra said, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.”

Can’t go straight ahead – doing the same old thing. Which way to turn? To stay is to go nowhere. The way you came no longer matters. It no longer serves. No part of Life’s journey is more hopeless and futile than standing where the road forks and not choosing which way to go.

The choice for compassion, blessing and inclusion, for a world that works for everyone and everything is always present. Spirit Tech can help you choose it.

Death by a Thousand Cuts

Could something like this be  happening to you?

With the Critic as default, nothing is ever good enough. There’s always something wrong, something to be corrected. Especially thoughts, tempting me to something the Critic thinks is wrong. When these thoughts and ideas drift across my mind, the Critic cuts me, tightening me up to resist.

When I become mindful of the tightness, it can take awhile, I may understand what’s happening – the Critic cutting me – or I may think that the tightness is due to something organically, physically wrong with me.

If I get passed thinking it’s physical and understand what the Critic is doing, I can then breath into the sensation and begin letting it go, knowing it’s only the Critic and I’m so much more than that. The Critic is only a small part of me and I don’t have to take it so seriously.

When I become aware of the tightness, I can appreciate what’s going on, experience it as an opportunity to breath deeply, relax and know I’m so much more, that the power we call ‘God’ is my default, not the Critic. That I can use the power that spins the planet, makes the stars shine and allows me to put one foot in front of the other to not just defend against the Critic, and squeeze out a few moments of peace and appreciation, but to live long and prosper.

It’s not the death of a thousand cuts, but the life of a hundred thousand breaths.

Perhaps for you, too. Spirit Tech can help make it so.

U.S. Political Structure

For the longest time I thought if we just got rid of the electoral college our system would work better.

Then I thought eliminating gerrymandering would fix it.

Then, making voting mandatory.

Then federalizing elections, taking them away from state legislatures.

Then the style of reporting political news: like it’s a sporting event between two teams; dumbing it down, reducing complex issues to only two points of view

Then, perhaps allowing more parties

Will one of these fix it? They’re all good ideas. All of them? Yes, that and more. The system is fundamentally broken. As much as I fear it, some sort of Constitutional Convention, free of party influence and state jurisdictions, facilitated by the best technology, allowing maximum participation, is needed.

What do you think?

Illegal

How can a human being – a being made in the image and likeness of the power we call God – the same as you and I – be ‘illegal’?

The words: ‘human being’ and ‘illegal’ aren’t even about the same order of reality.

One refers to a living, breathing, feeling life form. The other is a political label.

Life can not be ‘illegal’. It simply is.

Illegality is a political label like the Volstead Act. A foolish political act that made it possible to criminalize and punish; and give rise to the permanent establishment of organized crime, just as treating human beings as illegal gives rise to hate, fear and white supremacy.

I beg my so-called Christian friends to put aside their fear, hate and anger, put aside the political label and see past it to human beings in need. What would Jesus do…?

Rushing

Do you think getting things done, accomplishing things, completes you? I do.

I’m also moving toward understanding getting things done is fine, but there’s always more to do and something greater. Rushing to get things done causes me to miss the greater things. I need to slow down, listen, feel and just take things in to stir their counterparts within me. It’s stirring the counterparts within that completes me.

President’s Day

On this day of bargains and sales, I’m going to meditate on America’s promise and aspirations, allowing them to fill my heart and soul, knowing I will be moved to release all the fear, blame, hate and confusion there and have them be transformed to the inclusion, fearlessness, love and compassion America is really about.

God & Science

The born again’s disavowal of Science, which might develop a vaccine would be humorous, indeed IS humorous, but for the looming tragedy of the Corona Virus (which was ‘sent’ by who? Ah, yes, I forgot, the Devil.)

It reminds me of this joke: A man sat on the roof of his house as the flood waters rose. A row boat came by. “C’mon down and get in.” “No, God will save me.” As the water rose another boat came by. “C’mon down and get in.” “No, God will save me.” The water rose to touch the man’s legs. A helicopter came and dropped him a line. “No, God will save me.”

The water continued to rise and the man drowned. God interviews him in Heaven. “Why didn’t you use the boats or the helicopter?” “I was waiting for you to save me.” “Who do you think sent the boats and helicopter?”

Missing Something? Feeling Left Out?

Even while busy, doing something I like and want to do, I often feel like I’m missing something, being left out, maybe should be doing something else. Does that happen to you? When that happens, I usually think there’s something wrong with me – that I’m not grateful enough and don’t appreciate my blessings.

That’s true. But it’s not a fault unique to me. In fact, it’s not a ‘fault’ at all. It’s part of being human. It’s the desire to see over the next hill, explore and discover; to be an astronaut, a climber, a scientist, a poet.

It’s the seed of lack that makes us feel incomplete and insufficient, and moves us to explore the moon, discover cures and new elements and write great poetry. Unchanneled it becomes greed. Channeled, it becomes the glory of human existence.
