Philadelphia's Magic Gardens

I first saw it on an episode of Somebody Feed Phil and thought it looked like such a cool space - when I made it to Philadelphia's Magic Gardens on a work trip last year, my verdict wasn't wrong. If you find yourself in the City of Brotherly Love, make sure you stick this place at the top of your list!

An adventurous weekend in Iceland

Back in November we jetted off to Iceland for a long weekend for Olly's 40th birthday so we could tick something off his bucket list. Here's what we got up to on a rather adventurous long weekend in the land of fire and ice.

Holidaying in NYC

Here we go again. How to holiday in New York City. Aka The Big Apple. The city that never sleeps. A lot of the info still stands from our week there in 2019 - post here - but here's all the lovely new things I know that will help you to have the best time ever in one of my favourite cities in the world.

Where to eat in New York City

Ah, food. New York City has plenty of amazing places you can eat. Which I have blogged about before. So make sure you have a look there. But, if you're after a more up-to-date list, here's where we ate on our most recent trip to The Big Apple.

NYC: How to spend a day in Brooklyn

You can obviously spend so much longer than a mere day in Brooklyn, but if this is your first time visiting NYC, here's a good taster day exploring the city's trendiest borough.

Free things to do in NYC

The marvellous thing about New York City is that you can get that true NYC feeling by simply soaking up the atmosphere and having a mooch around. And you don't need to spend a penny (or cent) to do so.

NYC: Walking along the High Line

So a slightly misleading title. I've praised the High Line before here, a 1.45 mile walk stretching from Hudson Yards to the Whitney Museum of American Art, but I also want to share the two "extensions" you can add to this walk, the East Village and Financial District. Which is one of my favourite ways to spend a day in NYC.

TMTW: March 2024

What happened:
A pretty quiet month really. We headed to the theatre to see My Neighbour Totoro, which was our first introduction to Studio Ghibli, can you believe! It has a very impressive staging, and we really enjoyed it.

TMTW: January and February 2024

What happened:
We headed to the ballet to see Matthew Bourne's Edward Scissorhands in January (excellent), made a trip to the seaside (Hove; pictured below), checked out Banqueting House (skip it!), and also saw Cruel Intentions at the theatre (decent but makes you realise how problematic the plotline is).

Art in NYC

As always when we're in New York City, we saw some art. We did repeat the MET and MoMA - 2019 posts here for the MET and here for MoMA - so I'll mention those after the new places we went to. Though we didn't make it to the Guggenheim this time. And! New York has exploded with interactive art, which I've blogged about here
