LOGLINES AND TAGLINES ARE DIFFERENT And You Need Both For Your Novel by R. Ann Siracusa
"Cannot. Stress. This. Enough. Every week I see scores of pitches – sent to my inbox, my ears or via script listing sites – and every week I see Loglines and Taglines being mixed up. PLEASE STOP."
May 11, 2010, Lucy V. Hay (script editor and novelist)
IMAGINE MY SURPRISE
So here I was, cruising along, a relative newbie as a published author, following the lead of others who were more seasoned in the business than I will ever be.
Do you know the difference between loglines and taglines?

Just Like in the Movies by M.B. Feeney
Ava Jones has settled for a life that she’s not sure she wants anymore, but won’t admit it. Her best friend, Erica Davidson talks her into taking a break on the Isle of Wight. Her days on the island are spent thinking things through, and arguing with Morgan whom she hates on principal.
Is it so wrong for her to want a life that follows the script of a honest to God romance film?
M. B. Feeney is an army brat who finally settled down in Birmingham, UK with her other half, 2 kids and a dog. She’s also a student teacher, a doodler and a chocoholic. Writing has been her one true love since she could spell, and publishing is the culmination of her hard work and ambition.

Anela Alborn’s life is a lie. After growing up without the love of a father, her mother reveals his identity. Tragedy strikes and she sets off on an adventure that leads to more than she could ever imagine. Bumping into Christian Sivers distracts her from the real man of her dreams, her father. Will he live up to her dreams? And does she follow in her mother’s footsteps?
Author Bio:
Jennifer Garcia’s (aka Forbes Arnone) love of travel began when she traveled to the West Coast to visit her father at the age of three. Her home until she was sixteen was a small coastal town near Boston. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, two sons, and two dogs.
Her lifelong love for reading and writing was put aside for many years while she made her way in the world and nurtured her young family. Even though she is older, and life never seems to settle, she’s finding her way while attending college full-time in pursuit of a B.A. in English Literature. She also runs a business, and is still caring for her family. Believing she can do it all, with the help of her family, she worked on her first novel during the late hours of the night while balancing the rest of her life during the day. Her hard work paid off, as her first novel, My Mr. Manny, will be published August 2013.

Anela’s Oahu ~ In My Mother’s Footsteps.
With complete and utter excitement of the cover reveal of my first book ever to be released, I want to take you on a partial tour of Oahu, Anela style. The heroine of my novella, In My Mother’s Footsteps is Anela Alborn and she takes a two month trip to Hawaii on the island of Oahu.
My family and I have been to Oahu a lot. I’m going to share a few pictures from my trips to Oahu over the past ten years.
These are plumeria trees. This first picture shows a pink and white flower, those are two different trees and actually in my front yard at home. I brought couple of branches from Hawaii with me over the course of my trips and now they’ve grown out of control. But I love them and plant them everywhere and give them away.

Here’s Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck. These pics were taken in 2007 and those are my boys signing their name on the truck. Seriously, the food there is impeccable.

This is the volcano Diamond Head. Our trip from the bottom to the top, the beautiful view, and back down again. It was a hike and a half, but so worth it.

This is Ko’Olina Beach and back when we used to go, it was small. It had just one hotel on it but now it has expanded so much, it’s unrecognizable. I’m so glad we got to experience it before all of the expansions. Anela gets to experience it the way I did.

Well, that’s just some of our travels. I’ll have to find more. I know I have some pics somewhere of Waimea Falls and The Polynesian Cultural Center. Also, swimming with the dolphins and Hanauma Bay.
Stay tuned, June 2nd is our big cover reveal and July 2nd the book will officially be for sale.
I’ve also gotten some really good news today: my book cover for my novel, My Mr. Manny was completed and is just perfect! Exactly what I hoped for but could never imagine.

Tragedy strikes and she sets off on an adventure that leads to more than she could ever imagine. Bumping into Christian Sivers distracts her from the real man of her dreams, her father. Will he live up to her dreams? And does she follow in her mother’s footsteps?
Here’s an excerpt:
I swung the door open and jumped into Christian’s arms, wrapping my legs around his waist and locking him in my embrace.
“Oomph! I take it you missed me?” he asked with a chuckle.
“Yeah,” I whispered into his neck.
I felt something poking my cheek as it rested against his shoulder and pulled back to see what it was. My mouth dropped open and I felt my eyes bulge out. Before I could think, I jumped down and stood back, just taking in the sight before me. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was drooling. My man — my handsome man — was dressed in his Class A’s and looking mighty fine, I might add. The uniform had a navy blue jacket with royal blue pants. He was delicious from the beret on his head to the shine on his shoes. My heart thumped through my breastbone and I struggled to breathe. I looked up, turning bright red because he was watching me with such amusement.
“You like?” he wondered with his crooked cocky smile.
I shook my head in the negative. “No, I love,” I said with a smile and reached out to run my fingers over the stripes on his sleeve. He had five stripes, three on the top and two on the bottom. “What’s the occasion?”
“Just wanted to send you off in style, angel.”
Add it to your Goodreads “To Be Read” list.
Or you can get three great stories in one with the Summer Heat (Beach Reads #1) compilation.
