Sneak Peek Sunday

Sneak Peek Sunday consists of 6 paragraphs, WIP or published,  from a list of authors.

My sneak peek today is from a WIP called, Coming Home. It’s not edited at all and is new. I’m about 2 chapters in and am still fleshing out my characters and plot. But this is what I may work on during Camp NaNo. :)

Enjoy.

Also, my first book releases this Tuesday, July 2nd. WOOT!! It’s a novella in an anthology of beach reads with two other wonderful authors, RE Hargrave and MB Feeney. In My Mother’s Footsteps by Forbes Arnone, check it out. :)

Driving up the dusty graveled drive to the ranch his family owned–his home–seemed surreal. Francisco Javier Zamorano’s tires kicked up dust and he heard the pinging from the rocks hitting the undercarriage of his truck. He had come home just once during his six year stint in the Army on his very first leave after bootcamp, but had not been back since. Francisco Javier’s first tour in Afghanistan left him more of a solitary man instead of the outgoing, sociable kid he used to be.

Lowering his window to punch in the gate code, he waited for the metal doors to open and spotted a new addition to the family. There amongst the horses, in the vast green pasture, stood a small black donkey with the most beautiful white markings on her face. The ranch’s eldest Tennessee Walker, Molly, seemed to have taken a liking to her since they were joined at the hip. Looking closer for his horse, the one his dad gave him when he turned sixteen, proved to be difficult.

Once the path was cleared, Francisco Javier drove the rest of the way up to the house. That was when he spotted Nugget, the beautiful sand colored horse stood by the fence closest to the house almost as if he knew Francisco Javier had arrived. Jumping out of the truck, he ran to him, and Nugget stretched his neck out for a caress. The breath blown toward Nugget’s nose for recognition was a waste because he knew exactly who Francisco Javier was.

“Hey, buddy. Did you miss me?” Francisco Javier asked him while stroking the space between his eyes and down his nose with the palm of his hand. Nugget snorted in reply. “I missed you, too.”

“Javi? Is that you?” The sound of his mother’s voice made his chest hurt. He had missed her so much. Turning around to face the house, he saw her running toward him. She looked almost exactly the same as she did when he saw her last. Her black hair was braided down her back and he watched it sway side to side as she ran. Her face was a bit more weathered, but that was to be expected from spending most of your time outside in those high altitude mountains. She had on a pair of worn blue jeans and a t-shirt with her favorite black cowboy boots. He couldn’t believe she still had those things.

Francisco Javier took three long strides toward her and wrapped his arms around her waist and swung her around. Her arms went around his neck and she sobbed on his shoulder. Tears stung his eyes when he felt her tremble in his embrace.

Sexy Snippets

Here is a sexy snippet from my upcoming novel, My Mr. Manny.

Summary:

After leaving her home and family behind to move across the country, Mia Balducci finds herself yearning for the people she loves. Grasping for a piece of her childhood, she find solace in the familiarity of an old hometown friend. Events beyond her control occur and she’s left alone with her daughter. In need of help, Mia lucks out with a handsome Manny (male nanny). Dominic is just what Mia and her daughter, Lucia, need in their lives. Dominic leaves his problems behind in New York in search of a ready-made family. He finds it and so much more in California.

It will be available August 26th. Place My Mr. Manny on your Goodreads “to be read” list.

Standing back, I watched as he let his pants drop to the floor so I was able to appreciate his strong legs. They were long with defined muscles covered in black wisps of hair. He placed his pants on the chair behind him, and I caught a look at his tight ass in his dark gray boxer briefs. As a full package, Dominic was complete perfection. Hell, even in parts he was perfection. When he turned back toward me, he looked right into my eyes and I let out a shaky breath. My eyes were sucked in by his and I watched as they changed color, turned darker.

Here are my Seven Sexy Sentences …

He reclaimed my mouth with a long, drugging kiss. As our bodies connected, I tried not to focus on any pain that might occur. Instead, I lost myself by watching his face contort from the pleasure my body gave him. From that, I endured it all until the discomfort subsided.

“Oh, God, Anela,” he moaned, through clenched teeth.

My hands grasped his shoulders, holding him close to me until I was okay. “I’m good. Move.”

What’s New?

What is everyone working on currently? Do you have a new work in progress or are you in the process of editing?

I have one book finished and ready to release July 2nd. I have another book that is still in the editing process. But I have two works in progress that I have been playing around with for a while. However, I do not really spend as much time as I should on them. Sometimes, ideas need to simmer in my mind for a long time before I feel good enough with the story to write it down. Other times the stories come quickly and without a lot of forethought.

I have a new story idea I have been kicking around for a while. Everyday, I tweak it a little more in my mind and when I feel like I have a good grasp on it, I’ll start writing it down. Have you ever read books from the same author that are stand alones but set in the same location and have characters that cross over from another one of their books?  I have, Maeve Binchy did that and I actually enjoyed them a lot. The books weren’t series, they just had some of the same characters we grew to love be a part of the background cast of characters in other stories. It was great to see how the kids grew up and what they did with their lives or how a romance from another book faired. Binchy did it well and subtly so the old characters didn’t take over the story of the new characters.

Well, this new story I’ve been running through started out as two or three little stories and has turned into one big tale. And I think I’m going to use a character from my novel, My Mr. Manny and tell her big story. We’ll get to sneak a peak into the lives of the characters from the first book as background characters.

This is what I’ve been up to… What about all of you? Tell me what you have brewing. :)

In My Mother’s Footsteps by Forbes Arnone

In this scene, Christian and Anela went salsa dancing and the tension was building.

Everyone has a unique style to their movements so I watched him work his feet for a moment and then matched him step for step, allowing the music to guide my movements. My hips moved along with the beat and my feet shimmied like hummingbird wings. When we’d hold hands, Christian would pull me toward him and I’d feel every inch of his body pressed against mine. Then, he’d push me out and twirl me, only to pull me back against him again. I felt like I was under a spell, like the sensual movements we made and the look in his eyes were piquing all of my senses.

By the end of the night, I was hot and my skin felt like it had been lit by a live wire. The desire to devour Christian was overwhelming, something I had never felt before.
