My Sexy Saturday ~ In My Mother’s Footsteps

Welcome to the 8th week of My Sexy Saturday. Everyone has their own idea of sexy and readers of all kinds love to read what we offer. Being sexy and hot doesn’t require us to take off all our clothes…or maybe it does.
Touch of his hand, a heart stopping kiss or a slow, a great foot massage can be very exciting. How about that hot tub in a cool summer evening or a lover’s thought on his mate or mates. Thinking about your special someone can be sexy, no matter where they are.
Sexy can be earth-shattering, wall-banging in the most unlikely of places or it can be that slow sensual wedding night as each of you learn just what your lover likes for the very first time. Sexy can be that slow smile you give me across the room just to remind me I’m yours.
It all depends upon your perspective.
Come join us each Saturday as we bring you, the reader, the best in sexy writing.

This week I’m posting an excerpt of Anela and Christian’s first date.
We were standing to the side of the lobby in a small, grassy area. Facing each other, he reached out to hold both of my hands with his and leaned in to kiss me — or so I thought. Instead, he moved his hands up to cup my face and looked deep into my eyes.
“It was my pleasure, Anela. Thank you for giving me a chance tonight.” Christian kissed me on the forehead, lingering there for a few moments before stepping back. “You have my number, and I have yours, so I’ll call you tomorrow.
If you’d like more of Christian and Anela, you can purchase it here on Amazon.
I also have a wonderful romance releasing August 27th, My Mr. Manny.

Friday Fun ~ Writing Prompt: I’m Late
This is a little something I whipped up from this writing prompt from The Girl Who Reads’ blog.
And the prompt is …

“Ugh, it’s Monday; I just spilled coffee on my white shirt and I’m late,” I cried.
It really didn’t matter that I spilled on myself, I shouldn’t be drinking the stuff anyway. Also, I wasn’t going anywhere. I was just extremely emotional and I really loved the white pajama shirt I was wearing.
“Babe, why are you so upset? And, late? Where are you going?” asked my darling husband.
I laughed, sort of hysterically. I was losing my mind. Must have been part of the emotional thing that had been going on for the past few weeks.
I turned around to face my gorgeous man and melted at his innocently confused face. Did I want to tell him my suspicions now and risk the heartache if it wasn’t so, or did I share with him the one thing we had been yearning for the past year and a half? I really wanted to share.
“Honey, I’m not going anywhere.” I walked toward him and cupped his face with my hands. His rough beard poked my skin as I rubbed my thumbs across his cheeks. “I’m late. You know I’m never late, and for the past year and a half I’ve been on schedule, exactly twenty-eight days.” I let that hang between us, hoping he’d get the gist of what I was saying.
“Late? Twenty-eight days? What?” he sputtered. “Are we … are you … huh?”
A smile spread across my cheeks at the pure, innocent expression of hope and fear that appeared on his face.
I nodded and added so it would be clear, “I think so. I mean, we need to make an appointment to confirm, but I think this is it. I even have all the symptoms: tender breasts, emotional wreck, and I’ve been exhausted lately.” The smile never left my face.
Matt pulled me tightly toward him and wrapped me in his arms. With his face buried in my hair, he murmured sweet loving words of thanks.
I nestled my face into his chest and listened as his heart beat with such excitement, and I gripped the back of his shirt. We needed this. He had stood by me all that time and never once blamed me for not giving him a child and never once allowed me to feel sorry for myself. All I wanted to do for him was give him a piece of us, our love, and it was finally happening.

Here’s a little romantic excerpt from In My Mother’s Footsteps
“Honey, is that you?” a woman called from somewhere inside the house we’d just entered. Just down the road from the information center was a small community of single homes. Some of the houses were ranch style, while others looked to be two story residences. They were nice and well maintained. Most had been finished with wood siding, but each one had a different color scheme. There were blue and grey houses, along with maroon and other hues. It looked just like any other neighborhood that one would find in any particular city in the states, but not what I expected to find in Hawaii.
“Yes, and I have someone with me,” Neil answered.
He directed me toward the back of the house and into the kitchen. A tall woman stood in front of the refrigerator, pulling out a casserole dish. Her blonde hair had been pulled into a long braid down her back, and she was wearing what looked like boy’s board shorts that hung down to her knees. They looked cute on her thin frame.
Neil cleared his throat before speaking again. “Babe, come sit down. I want to introduce you to someone.”
The lady closed the refrigerator and turned around, and her beauty was striking. Her young face had a nice tan to it, and I could tell she wasn’t wearing any make-up. With a pair of big, brown eyes, she had a natural beauty.
“Oh, who’s this?” she asked, an honest smile on her face.
Neil gestured to the chairs for us to sit down, and then shook his head, looking at me. “You know, I didn’t even ask you your name.”
I laughed before answering, “No problem. My name’s Anela.”
“Anela. That’s a nice name. Did you know it means ‘angel’ in Hawaiian?” Neil wondered.
I shook my head no.
“Well, this is my wife Penny.” My father gestured to her. She sat in silence, waiting to find out who the heck I was. “So, tell us your story.”
I looked at them both in shock. Neil had put me on the spot. It was now or never, and I wanted to get to know him. So I did as he asked and told them my story, showing them all the paperwork and the picture. By the time I finished, Penny had tears streaming down her face, and I worried she’d throw me out. However, she surprised me when she jumped up and ran to my side of the table, pulling me into a crushing bear-hug. Shocked and emotional, I returned the embrace, but I wasn’t quite sure why she was hugging me.
Whispering into my hair, she murmured, “There, there; you’re not alone anymore.”
And in that moment — more than any during the past few months — I missed my mom. She could never be replaced, but it seemed that I had others to love me now. It was all so bittersweet.
I will also be giving away a $50.00 gift card for Amazon.com and all you have to do is click the picture below, follow the instructions, and enter.

How to Utilize Twitter and Other Applications to Market
The Internet has become such a wonderful venue for marketing and the opportunity to reach more people. This does not mean you can stop your face-to-face marketing. I am just giving you one more way to touch more people.
Note: Basic Twitter knowledge needed with the understanding of Hashtags and Twitter lists.
To start this marketing journey, you will need to find like-minded people to work with. In my case, other authors, in your case it may be jewelry designers.

Living Positively While Raising a Type One Diabetic
Here is a little peek at my experience with living with a type 1 diabetic in an article I wrote on Ezine @rticles.
When my son was diagnosed with type one diabetes at the age of three, my husband and I were devastated. I cried for a week straight thinking of how this would affect my son’s life. Then I snapped out if it.
What would I be teaching my son if I spent my time wallowing away about something I couldn’t change, but something I could make better? I am a go-getter by nature and I dove right in and made the best of that really messed up situation. It was, and still is, extremely important to teach my son how to care for himself so he does not do any longterm damage.
For more…
If you found it helpful, please rate it with the happy face on the right side of the article.

Cover Reveal ~ My Mr. Manny by Jennifer Garcia
Summary:
Mia Balducci misses her childhood days and yearns for the big, Italian family that she left behind in small town Massachusetts. At the tender age of sixteen, Mia moves with her bachelor father to Los Angeles, but no matter how many years pass, it never becomes home to her. The years spent living with her father aren’t easy, especially since she can’t stop thinking about what she once had. Her enrollment in the University of Southern California promises to bring exciting changes to her life, but Mia winds up with big problems instead. When she runs into an old friend from her old hometown of Winthrop, she gets swept up in nostalgia, and she soon loses herself in a quickly-progressing romance. When the fantasy falls apart, she is left to raise her precious little girl, Lucia, on her own. The demands of Mia’s work schedule and Lucia’s needs increase, and their lives become increasingly hectic. It is soon clear to Mia that she needs help. Luckily, her life-saving cousin saves the day and brings the mother and daughter a male nanny – their new “manny.”
After losing his high-pressure job on Wall Street, Dominic Roberts wants to follow his dreams to have a family. He’s already one fiancée down, and there are no likely prospects for another. In order to find the family he so desperately wants, he finds himself getting into the manny business. Since he is fully qualified to provide child care and is eager to leave New York City behind, his sister-in-law is able to land him a job in California working for his first client – the beautiful and intriguing Mia Balducci.
Will Lucia like the new man in her mother’s life? Will Mia? And will this new trio discover the happily ever after they all so desperately seek?
I am so proud of this cover! Tell me what you think!
You can place My Mr. Manny on your Goodreads “to read” list.
Author Bio:
Jennifer Garcia’s (aka Forbes Arnone) love of travel began when she traveled to the West Coast to visit her father at the age of three. Her home until she was sixteen was a small coastal town near Boston. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, two sons, and two dogs.
Her lifelong love for reading and writing was put aside for many years while she made her way in the world and nurtured her young family. Even though she is older, and life never seems to settle, she’s finding her way while attending college full-time in pursuit of a B.A. in English Literature. She also runs a business, and is still caring for her family. Believing she can do it all, with the help of her family, she worked on her first novel during the late hours of the night while balancing the rest of her life during the day. Her hard work paid off, as her first novel, My Mr. Manny, will be published August 2013.
