i’m in such a great place right now disappointment-wise? because if this is what we’re going to see tomorrow then it’s not painful disappointment it’s funny disappointment in the sense that it’s a fucking trainwreck i can laugh about
Haven’t seen it, but at least I can set my expectations to none.

Oh yiisssss, I know of a Johnlock fic EXACTLY like this . ..
Curious
Case by Cleo2010, 44 k, explicit. Some of
the hottest getting-together sex ever. Sherlock has burns on his hands, and has
to ask John to jerk him off to relieve his sexual tension and clear his mind.
For some reason, this must go on for 11 searingly-hot chapters as “straight” John navigates his sexuality
crisis, and admits he’s in a relationship with Sherlock. DAMN! Unnnf.
This, Best of Three by @silentauroriamthereal , and The Great Sex Olympics of 221b by @xistentialangst are my three all-time favorite fan fictions, I read them so, so much. Over and over again. As if it’s my job.
Thanks for making me smile today. I love Curious Case too. And all of silentauror.
SPOILERS BE CAREFUL
FRIENDS I HAVE INFORMATION
I’m gonna preface this by saying that this is not first-hand information. I am not a reporter. However, another user on this site is friends with a reporter who was at the bfi screening in London and got pulled into a press huddle with TPTB and told me about this.
This user told me:
“The reporter who attended the Cardiff showing supposedly was told that they could not write a review because there were “different versions.” Basically, making everyone – even the press – wait until after the actual televised episode because anything that comes out before that won’t be the truth.”
Full disclosure, this is friend of a friend information, but the reporter isn’t even a Sherlock fan and is pissed she has to watch the episode twice.
GUYS THIS IS HUGE CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS THIS IS HUGE IF IT’S TRUE

OMGGG GUYS
Can anyone who was actually at the BFI screening confirm if they heard anything about this. I’m curious where the Independent got this information, because up until now I have only seen fandom conjecture, and no definitive truth, and I don’t trust newspapers to not print shit they just got off the internet without fact checking, anymore.
interesting. really wonder if this is them assuming fans are right about the missing 4 minutes or if they in fact have some other kind of ‘official’ knowledge.
It’s probably just twitter/fan comments. But still.
I’m going to be watching on Sunday with more hope, dammit. If they come through after all, I will be happy to retract all my premature disappointment.

Not that I trust the media’s sources, but interesting.
Alternate Endings
To anyone who hasn’t heard, there’s the theory going around that The Final Problem will have three separate alternate endings. The third of which will be the true and final end when we watch the live broadcast on t.v. This directly being linked to the 1985 film Clue. In each alternate ending finds a different culprit but all of them mention (Red Herrings). With all the mention of no one having to sign papers for their confidentiality and just being ‘trusted’ to keep quiet its a hushed giveaway. Minor spoilers have already slipped out and it has many of us doubting if we’ll get our ‘insane wish fulfillment.’ But this is how that works. Three separate screenings, three separate outcomes. The final being the one and true. The rug pull will be the final problems final ending on Sunday.
Now this would be fucking groundbreaking television.
This is probably why we have such a hard time following The Six Thatchers and The Lying Detective. It might be three plots mixed into one. Like, some scenes match with each other while others are off in their own alternate reality.
This would be absolutely mind-blowing.
That would be fantastic if true.

I believe they are in love, because I am a writer.
Their first real conversation (ASiP) and their last (TLD) were about romance. The first, in Angelo’s, established that John likes men but will deny it, and that Sherlock is gay but not open to relationships. The last made clear how they’ve changed, softened into their vulnerabilities: that both of them are human, prone to longings, and “romantic entanglement” is necessary for them to be complete.
Sherlock’s imagined greenhouse conversation implied that Redbeard, and Sherlock’s childhood, are tied to his aversion to romance; and his childhood has just been brought front and center as the final crisis of the show.
Every single episode and every interview with the creators has also made clear that John and Sherlock’s relationship is always key.
There is no logical conclusion except that 1) Sherlock is destined for love, 2) Facing Eurus will enable him to face this, and 3) John and Sherlock will always be the heart of the show. So as a writer, I can’t reach any other conclusion but that they love each other.
Even if all that wasn’t true, there simply isn’t time to develop the Eurus and Moriarty crises to their logical conclusion and also develop a convincing love story between Sherlock and anyone else. So unless there’s a sloppy, perfunctory liaison with Irene (the lesbian) or Molly (who’s had about three minutes of screen time), John is the only real choice for his love.
Whatever you feel now is fair. If you are grieving the news (or lack of it) from the prescreening, if you are pissed about the denials, if you want to hope but hardly dare, or if you’re joyously, absolutely sure, that’s valid.
As a writer, I know that I am watching a love story. The only question remains whether Gatiss and Moffat and Sue and Ben and Martin get their share of the credit for that, or whether all of the credit goes to you, the fandom. But it is what it is; and it’s real.
@shag-me-senseless-watson @freedfrom1895 @salve-regina-mills @wildgoosechased @benaddictmindpalace @sandaja @kimbiablue @chrysanthemumsies
A million times this.
Lovely thoughts. As I writer, I agree. It’s so blatantly a love story. However, I’m invested enough in what this means for queer people everywhere that I pray they actually follow through on screen. There’s no excuse for it to be subtext any longer.
