There is any fix-it fics about this season?

Hey friend, people keep adding to it of course, but here’s some things I’ve got to rec right now …

S4 Fix-it Fics

Parentlock ficlet by blueink3, a quick look at Sherlock, John and Rosie at 221b.

on our fandom.

Sherlock might’ve failed utterly to protect Mary Watson, but he will be damned
if he fails John again.

One Light in a Million by Mazarin221b, 2 k,
explicit. The words had seared their way onto Sherlock’s skin, into his heart,
sunk so deeply into his psyche that he’d never forget them, not ever.

Laceration near left

injures himself on a case, and his reaction to John’s care is unexpected to say
the least.

These Four Walls by SilentAuror, 1.5 k,
mature. A little slice of John, mid-TST.

The Pining Detective by WinterTheWriter,
1.9 k, explicit.  Fix-it fic that starts
in the morgue right before John starts punching Sherlock’s beautiful, sad, gay
little face.

decides to start actively pursuing what he wants in spite of the demons

replied to your post “so they really meant to write it this way, maybe even from the…”

I seriously think something happened and they were forced to not make it explicit..

Then they’d be better off coming right out and saying that.  “We planned to take that relationship in one direction, but things arose, and that no longer became possible.”  End comment.

There are also gentler ways they could have ended this season.  There were some things in the last couple episodes that felt like very informed, and specific digs against certain ships and fan theories.

I honestly still think that this season was two grown men pulling a temper tantrum, like @madgirlspoem, mentioned to me last night, some people, especially very narcissistic ones, will prefer to burn their own creation to the ground rather than let other people play with it.  It’s like the kid in kindergarten who when urged to share his toy, breaks it instead, so no one can have it.

This is the thought I keep circling around to. They decided to break it so we couldn’t keep it alive.

You know what I’m going to do about it? To paraphrase Maria Bamford, I’m going to keep the love I have alive…if for nothing else, then out of spite.

YES. I really got the vibe all through S4 that they were going SO FAR OUT OF THEIR WAY to avoid any hint of queer.

1. They WAAAY over emphasized Mary, and John’s level of attachment/grief over her. They were both OOC from past seasons.

2. Just to hammer the point home more that John is “no homo”, he had a fling with yet another woman on top of Mary. What fucking narrative point did that serve? If he’d admitted in the end, that he hadn’t been that happy in the marriage, and the flirtation was a symptom of that, it would have made more sense. But instead they represent him as being grief-stricken over Mary. Yes the bus girl was Euros, so it was a bit of a bait for E2, but that wasn’t that important or could have been done another way. Ultimately, the main purpose she seemed to serve was to underline John’s heterosexuality.

3. Mary dominates E1. In E2, her ghost is there throughout E2 and it’s all about John grieving. At the end, when John and Sherlock finally talk, Mary is still there hovering. Gotta make sure the audience doesn’t forget John is still in love with his wife. In addition, John tries to push Sherlock to hook up with Irene.

4. In E3 they would have, in the normal course of the story, had to have a lot of John/Sherlock domestic time, possibly with Rosie. In order to avoid that (god forbid), they created a shitfest of a crazy murder case that BLEW UP 221B and then kept John and Sherlock out of there and distraction (*cough* waste)  for almost the entire 90 minutes. Only at the very end did they fast forward through a few domestic scenes, fast enough that we couldn’t read anything much into them.

5. Then they bring back Mary at the end to frame the “ongoing saga of Watson and Holmes” as some vague, “it’s not even about them really” bullshit from John’s dead wife’s POV.

Let’s face it. They TRIED REALLY HARD to make them look like bros and avoid johnlock. They kept John’s damn ring on til the end.

Why? Even the mainstream media is shaking their heads about how wrong that was. Just because they didn’t want to give us johnlock, they refused to give us that, they actually created a lot of crap that made no sense. It truly does feel like it was cutting off their nose to spite their face. Was it their sheer arrogance, like the above poster said, that Sherlock was “theirs” and they refused to do anything they thought of as “fan service”? Was it because of Mark’s apparent hatred of “fag hags” or any women who are fans of m/m relationships?

I don’t buy it was an executive decision on the BBC level. If it had been, and Mark and Stephen were for it, they could have worked a TON of suggestive stuff into the script. But it almost hurts how hard they are avoiding it.

It’s really just mind blowing really.

“The brave choice would have been Sherlock and John acknowledging their feelings for each other with or without Mary’s assistance from beyond the grave. […]

Instead we get clichés, queerbaiting and a modern adaptation that manages to feel more staid than the original.”

Wow, this is awesome.

Steven Moffat’s dismissive attitude toward women somehow seems to help his career.

this article is so so important please read it

holy shit, though. wow.

OH.MY.GOD. it has EVERY QUOTE. WITH A LINK. this article must’ve been burning in this writer’s mind for ages…well done.

True story: when I initially pitched this article, my editor thought I was joking and squelched it, and I went back and screamed at him a lot until he understood there is NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT THE RAGE-INDUCING EFFECTS OF STEVEN MOFFAT and let me write it, haha.

(Also, since a lot of people have been questioning the veracity of the quotes, I just want to say that everything in “” in the article is a word-for-word quote that comes from either a video/radio or print interview by Moffat, or a tweet from his now-deleted twitter, or a line one of his characters says. Every other link is tied to arguments about the narratives of his series, so yes, it’s all as verified as we could possibly make it.)

DRAG HIM TO HELL

If you want to send a message:

geekgirl1:

heimishtheidealhusband:

Start unfollowing people. Unfollow Sherlock on Facebook. Unfollow the BBC.

I for one just unfollowed mark gatiss on twitter. If you’ve been on this blog for more than 5 seconds, you know what kind of a statement that is.

Numbers don’t lie, speak with tools they will recognize.

I’ve unfollowed Mark, Sue, and Reetu and Twitter. I hesitate to do so with Amanda, Loo and Arwel though……

Also, LEAVE 1 or 2 STAR REVIEWS on Amazon US, Amazon UK, IMDB, and Rotten Tomatoes if you have an account. THOSE THINGS DO MATTER and it’s the only voice we have. Also, do tweet your disappointment with #sherlockreacts.

Um. Why did Sherlock have water trauma memories from the well if no one knew the well existed

tbh so much stuff from this episode doesn’t line up… I’m super confused

Because he knew his friend drowned he just didn’t know where

Mycroft literally said that Eurus started talking about “drowned Redbeard” so…………y'know. That MIGHT be where it came from.

If she was telling everyone about drowned Redbeard why did NO ONE CHECK IN THE WELL

Is it sad that I’m laughing over this?

I won’t be surprised if Moffat says that John keeps a Mary shrine at his flat.

He owns a life sized mary doll complete with assassin gear and sniper rifle. It wears a wedding ring. He sleeps next to it every night. This is healthy.

Oooh!  S5! A string of murders hits London and Sherlock is called in to investigate. Turns out it’s John who has had a psychotic break and he’s dressing up like Mary and going out and killing people by scaling walls dressed in black and then shooting them with sniper rifles.

Psycho meets Sherlock. It’s perfect!
