Why is it so cute that Martin’s lapel is between Benedict’s fingers? X

Martin in the third one down always makes me giggle. And Ben just not letting go.

They both look so much younger here!

Thoughts on setlock week 9

welovethebeekeeper:

my-mind-palace-blog:

miadifferent:

welovethebeekeeper:

Here we are after a week that proved to be confusing on many fronts, from the strange Mind Palace sequences of Mount Square, to the man in the beige suit who was NOT Toby Jones, to a trip to Morocco. It was weird, wild, and wonderful in setlockland this week.

A boardroom set up in the middle of an urban street, six board members sitting at the table, all of whom are hooked up to IV drips. A man in a beige suit, without an IV drip, appears to be in charge. He saunters over to a confront an obviously ill and dazed Sherlock who has appeared in the street like it’s a high noon gunfight. We all expect it to be Toby Jones; right height, build and age, then the fucker turns around and it’s Mr-I-have-no-idea-who-you-are time. The weird thing here is that we had reports of Toby being on set that day, now it could be mistaken identity and Toby wasn’t present and this other guy was just assumed to be him, or it could be that Toby was there for a time and had to leave. We did see the urgent Mad Dog Casting call out. Or it could be Toby’s character has a TWIN!!! No not twins. It’s never twins. Oh but you see, everybody in the show has a twin and they all exist in a drugged mind palace and nothing is really real. [This is suddenly setlock gothic]
Next we have Wiggins’ twin, no, sorry…confused there, it’s mind palace Wiggins, making an appearance in a very strange version of 221B. Lovely to see Tom Brooke back, I think he adds to the cast dynamic, I love him [now give us a Shinwell Johnson and I’ll be happy] Putting the scenes we saw filmed in Mount Square together, it appears as if Sherlock has ditched the ambulance that picked him up in the suburbs, probably jumped out at a traffic light, stumbled through the city, had a revelation [he stops dead in the middle of traffic, realisation hitting him, and gets yelled at by a cab driver] missed seeing the lovely Bunsen pass by, visualises the boardroom scene, then visualises a convo with Wiggy in a surreal 221b. I hope Bill Wiggins is a hero in this ep. He is a good chemist, as Sherlock told us in HLV, and this ep is showing us hospitals, IVs, an ill Sherlock, ambulances, nurses….there could be a virus on the loose, or a drug being manufactured for evil purposes, and with Sherlock ill, Bill rises to the challenge and finds the antidote. Or at least tells Sherlock what to do to find it. Either way, welcome back Wiggins.
Later that day we see the limo with John arriving in the same location [kudos for the limo driver taking it into such a small, cramped area like Mount Square] but weirdly no eye witness reports or photos of Martin filming scenes. Just one tweet saying they had stumbled upon Martin filming plus a distance photo of Martin chatting to Amanda. Looks like they didn’t film a John and Sherlock scene, as we saw Benedict leave the set for the day with a large potted plant. [I am tempted to insert a joke here but not everyone will find it amusing]
The following day was quiet in setlockville, until we had a message from Dominique Arthur [costume dept] which was a photo of herself, Amanda and Amy Riley [hair & makeup] in an airport with the tag ‘Morocco’. As we had previously read in a Den of Geek article that Sherlock would be filming in Marrakech this season, we all got excited and started to imagine John and Sherlock in a opulent tent at an oasis making love while a huge desert moon rises……wait, was that just me? Sorry. Maybe the rest of you were imaging some adventure in the souks with assassin AGRA pursued in a Bondesque chase scene, till John shoots her, and she falls artfully into a heap of Moroccan silks and dies. NO? Me again? Shit! Well anyway, we all were thinking of some North African scenes being filmed, but what we got was silence. Just a few unconfirmed sighting of Benedict roaming the uni at Cathay Park campus in Cardiff. [The lack of romance in that idea versus the oasis sex scene is so sad] Eventually we did receive some Moroccan photos of a shoe souk, Amy with a desert backdrop, and a street scene, but by this time the trio were homeward bound. The obvious conclusion is that the three women, and presumably a film crew, flew over to get a brief scene of AA filmed in the location. If you want a great take on this go to @finalproblem‘s blog and read their excellent theory.
Meanwhile on the home front in Cardiff: There were more Benedict sightings and finally the lovely @1895itsallfine discovered a series of tweets from an actress who had been filming with our cast, she is evidently playing a policewoman. The actress had fallen in love with Martin on set, as you do [Benedict can talk for hours on that inevitability] and gave him special mention [again Benedict can explain how that just happens and you can’t stop it] Conclusion being, that our duo of John and Sherlock were filming in Cardiff, most likely in the university campus buildings at Cathay’s Park, probably in areas not frequented by a lot of students, and it involved actors as police. Not such a surprising revelation really.
The script for episode 3 was given to cast and crew this week. Loo went to cap locks to state her impression, Arwel used emojis to nudge and wink at us. [The winky face he chose to indicate the finale of the episode had us all in johnlock kiss anticipation] We saw a recce to Cardiff Castle, the stand in for The Tower of London in TRF, but it could be a stand in for most medieval castles in the UK to be honest,  and we had Arwel and Tom Guy on the road all day Thursday, at one point at the toll for the Seven Bridge which indicates they left Cardiff for part of their trip. We also saw a vintage dress and stole being sourced by the costume department, it’s very art deco as was Mary’s dress [and hair style] when we were introduced to her in TEH. Is this her swan song outfit? As she arrived, she departs?

So my friends we ended the week with more info about episode 2 but really non the wiser. It’s an episode featuring a villain who will be modernised to meet todays villainous activities, probably topical ones. I am thinking chemical terrorism, given the clues of an ill Sherlock, IV’s, a cabal around a boardroom table, hospitals etc. Due to sheer lack of evidence that a camera has been directed at AA in any UK location for this ep, i think she has bolted, or been told to bugger off in episode 1. We get to see where she is [a desert country] and what she is up to in a tiny scene either at end of ep 2 or beginning [thanks @finalproblem for that, I am convinced] The harmony of 221b will be back, as in order to break our hearts in ep3 they have to give us a sense of security.

Looking forward to week 10 and the NGS shoot at the weekend. Still wondering why for so little filming time [5 till11] on Sunday evening they have reserved the location for the base [behind Euston Station] on the 7th, 11th -13th. It seems excessive for that one event in the NGS letters. Of course they film in other parts of the city, and we have no idea if that is planned. The restriction signs are not up in Carlton Terrace [thanks @cupidford] but there are a few posted around that could be possible broloc. We shall see.

I have the feeling, we might see the ambulance a bit more… maybe even at NGS? Maybe Sherlock is ill, poisoned, whatever, but refuses to go to the hospital, because he has to solve a case/find his own cure. So the compromise with John is to keep an ambulance close by. What we have seen so far might not have been solely mp scenes, but rather Sherlock halluzinating while driving across London and solving the problem.

So like, sherlock is not ill from drugs he took willingly? Have we cleared that one up? Because I really don’t wanna see my baby relapse.

Oh I have been insisting on this since TAB ended.
