The Joy of Naps

Hey there!

I had no effects from my vaccination last week that a short nap couldn't take care of. I am a fanatic about naps and take one most days.

To me, naps are the ultimate luxury – only possible by working from home and having grown-up children. I organize my day around my naps and try to avoid any appointments after 1pm.

Back in the day when I worked in an office and had young children, a well-timed cup of tea would get me through, but I much prefer the charm of a pillow, a heating pad, an...

In-Betweenies

Hello!

Spring is in the air and it's warming up where I am. I'm having to get out for a run before 9am. Too hot if I leave it.

Having published Fireworks in France, I'm in between books at the moment and my life is always quite different during these times. When I'm writing, I get extremely focused especially just prior to publishing. I talk less, think more.

When I'm done, I get to play during the day, experiment, reacquaint myself with things like laundry, gardening, house projects that were p...

New Annabelle Box Set, Extract 3

Hey there,

Launching Fireworks in France last week made for a busy week but by the time you read this, I will have had a few days off during which I hope to have read several books.

I've been delighted with the reception Fireworks in France received. One of my favorite comments from reviewers was “not your average cozy.” Annabelle would love that.

Today, I've got the third and final extract from the book and announcement of a new Annabelle box set.

One more week…

Greetings!

I'm just putting the finishing touches to Fireworks in France, #7 in the Reverend Annabelle Dixon mystery series. It will be out next week and I can't wait to publish it.

Below is an extract.

Fireworks in France Extract

Chapter One

AWAY FROM THE main routes that connected cities such as Paris, Reims, and Calais, nestled in a valley of rolling hills, and small enough to be largely obscured from view by a cluster of oaks, it was mostly bad directions or lazy driving that caused visitors...

“The funniest, most entertaining, best book”

Greetings!

I'm getting closer and closer to publishing the next book in the Annabelle series, Fireworks in France. Early feedback has been amazing. I can't wait to share it with you.

To whet your appetite, I have a teaser below.

Fireworks in France: A teaser

A missing priest. Scandalous secrets. A reverend with a taste for justice…

When a French priest collapses at Easter Mass, the church suspects foul play. A missing junior priest quickly becomes the prime suspect, but not everyone agrees.

Rev...

Annabelle Cover Reveal

Hey there,

It's been a lovely quiet week for me. On Friday, the new Annabelle went off to my editor and while she was working on it, I was able to take a bit of a breather.

I read a couple of books, caught on my email, and went on some walks. It was delightful.

Today, I'm revealing the cover and title of the new book.

Awesome, don't you think?

I'll be back with more info about the new book next week, but in the meantime, if you wish to catch up with Annabelle and her antics, below is a list of ...

Reader’s Choice

Hey there!

I asked readers on my email list (sign up in the box at the bottom of this page to get on my list) to vote for the book that I would write next and they didn't need asking twice.

Hundreds of them voted to tell me what they would like me to write after I finish up my current work-in-progress (Annabelle #7).

And the winner is…

Inspector Graham!

After I finish Annabelle #7, I will be returning to Gorey for the follow-up to The Case of the Forsaken Child.

My subconscious is already there…...

2020 in review

Hello!

It's the end of the 2020. Many people have been counting the days but I think every day is precious. At the end of each year, I like to review what I achieved and look ahead.

This year was full of achievements

Despite the pandemic, the return of adult children to the nest, and shelter in place orders, things still got done.

In 2020 I was able to do the following:

Publish 3 books:

Louisiana Lies
Chaos in Cambridge
The Case of the Forsaken Child

Release three box sets:

The Roxy Reinhardt...

From my family to yours

Hey there!

When I wrote my Christmas message last year I was hanging out in a converted cow barn in the middle of the English countryside anticipating a Christmas Day lunch that was going to be organized chaos. I was also looking forward to the panto and an evening church service I was attending later that day, especially the warm mince pies and punch that would be served afterward.

This year the plan I set out in January was to replicate last year's Christmas exactly. Well, we know what happene...
