Sutton's hand found Wyatt's like a magnet finding its mate, and she knitted their fingers together. Music drifted through the trees.

“You know how to two-step?” Wyatt asked.

“No, but I learned how to waltz and foxtrot during cotillion, a lot of good that does me.”

Wyatt tugged her into a faster walk. “I’ll teach you.
“No way. Not in front of everyone. I’ll look like an idiot.” She pulled at his arm, but inertia was on his side.

“That’s your fear talking. Come on and take a chance on me.”

Even though he was talking about something as simple as a dance, the moment felt like a tipping point. Fearful or brave? Which did she choose?

She quit fighting and let him lead her into the circle of light. A handful of couples danced, but a majority of the partiers hung around the edges talking and watching. Before her feet could mount a rebellion and retreat, Wyatt spun her around and put a firm hand on her upper back, holding her other hand in a typical dance hold.

“The two-step is simple. Four steps, two quick, two slow. I step forward on my left, and you step back on your right. Okay?”

She made an affirmative sounding hum and tried to assimilate what he was saying, but heat streaked across her back where his hand branded her. All the eyes fixed on them didn’t help her concentration.

He counted them off, and she made it two steps before screwing up. She bit the inside of her cheek. “I can’t do it.”
“You’re acting like this is worse than a firing squad. What are you thinking about?”

“Amoebas.”
He gave a slight shake of his head before bursting out in chesty laughter that sent vibrations through his hold to her. “Dare I ask why?”

“I feel like we’re being examined like reproducing amoebas through a microscope.”

“If I recall my high school biology, amoebas are asexual. I’m not. Forget about everyone else and look at me.”

She focused on his face. The flickering fire set gold sparking in his gray eyes, and since he’d invited her to, she let her gaze linger on all his features, but especially his mouth. His lips were mouthing “quick-quick-slow-slow,” and she dabbed her bottom lip with her tongue, remembering what they’d felt like against hers.

“You’re dancing.” His sweet, sexy lips turned up in a smile.




I dug into this book eagerly and with some popcorn by my side. The premise of the book is that Sutton Mize wants to get her fiance something as an engagement/wedding gift...so she takes his Camaro in to have it restored - to Wyatt (who is an awesome book boyfriend y'all) who finds a thong that doesn't belong to Sutton in her boyfriends car!! He unknowingly thinks it's hers and offers it back to her, all the while she's been cataloguing receipts for expensive dinners out and add in the "mystery thong" and you have a cheater! Sutton devises a plan after finding out that Andrews been cheating with her best friend Bree, that she's going to need Wyatt a lot more than he needs her. She wants him to "fake" date her in order to get revenge and what begins is a beautiful love story between the two. What I found myself loving the most was that Wyatt wasn't a rich, worldly guy who had all the answers. He  was just a guy who fell in love with Sutton when she was little and has been trying to get her attention ever since. At times, my heart broke for him because he wore his feelings like a badge of honor and Sutton's been betrayed by the two people who should have had her back that she's given up on love. Wyatt really never gave up on her and loved her through everything. I'm hoping that Mack or Jackson's book is next...I could care less if Ford jumped off the ledge of a high rise building - he's such a prick. There was some angst, some heat and some sex, but not overwhelmingly so much that it made it a DNF. This for me was a refreshing story and I loved the aunt's, along with Sutton's parents and sister. It was nice not to have all the OTT drama with family. I would recommend this to everyone...even my mom!

REVIEW
Was this book just as good as the first one? I found the conclusion to came too swiftly for me and I loved it but I didn't looove it. I'm not going to give anything away in this but oh...Porter I loved you sooo much in the first book and in this book it's like you lost some glow, man! The first book just had all the feels and makes you need the Kleenex and this book made you need the Kleenex...just a little less. As a series whole I'd give it 4 to 4.5 stars....maybe 4.3 lol! Had we not had the mediocreness and the wanting to flip to the next page (not in a good way) I would have made it a 5. However, the series was spectacular as a whole. If we had only book 2 to go by, then it would have been a 3 because the characters didn't seem to be true to themselves as the first novel. I'd recommend it to anyone and would probably buy it for friends but at the same time warn that the voice changes in book 2. Overall, it's well worth the read.

Dee smiled, the sleepiness still evident in her eyes as she brushed her hair back from her face. “Is something wrong?”
“Nope.” He shook his head. No way in hell he was going to share his feelings. A guy could only handle rejection so many times. “I’m making breakfast.”

He set the spoon down and turned around. Her arms fell away and she took a step back. “I was talking about last night.”
“You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“I…the bed…naked…” He ran a hand over his face as he managed to take a deep breath. Now wasn’t the time to stumble over his words.
Her soft fingers brushed his cheek. “I should thank you for last night. I needed that. This morning, I feel rejuvenated. Let’s find this bastard. Nobody attacks me and gets away with it.”
His jaw clenched. “I will find this bastard. Not you.”
“Whatever.”
“You’ll listen to me, Dee.” He took a step closer, a breath away. “I don’t want to see you get hurt. Let me do my job.”
She bit her lip as a sneaky grin emerged. “Every time it comes to your job, you get so dominant and assertive. Then, in the next breath, so shy. You are a very complex man.”
“No. I’m pretty simple. I’m good at my job. You leave this to me.”
Her lips brushed his. “I never listen well.” She laughed as she backed away. “You’re cute when you get upset.”
He groaned and turned back to the eggs. She was going to be the death of him. Some man, most likely the killer he was looking for, attacked her, and she wanted to argue with him about who would catch him. Why did every little thing about her make him like her more? Even when she was annoying the hell out of him.

I really loved Mia in this book. I thought I wasn't going to because in the last one...she kind of got on my nerves! However, her and Nick together was just too much good chemistry for you not to like them. Nick is a fabulous hero! The constant will they, won't they is what drove me a little batty lol - in a good way. They've both been there and done that and Mia already has two kids so she has to think about them. The one thing I did have an issue with was the wrap up...it was just done too quickly but I wouldn't knock that too much because I found the story so engaging!! Overall, this is definitely one to let and tell others too read.
