Everything I saw was unreal, until a disturbing question came to mind. “Was I dead?” Suddenly, the flapping of wings and clashing of swords became louder as the ground shook. The sky lit up again, and I gasped at what looked to be hundreds of those things fighting in the distance. A strong gust of wind blew by, and one painfully knocked me forward. I pushed myself up again, but was singed by red and yellow glowing rocks that surrounded me and hissed like lava. As I glanced down, I saw blood dripping from my head as it flowed down my arm, making me aware of the pain that throbbed through my skull. I struggled to keep my eyes open, while the sound of battle grew riotous in the distance. I blinked out the tears, my eyes fixated on two magnificent, human forms glowing close by. Something about them seemed real, but as the pain in my head grew more intense, I began to struggle for consciousness. When I called out for help, one heard me and turned its head. My addled brain thought, “It couldn’t be?” It looked like him from a distance, but his skin was different, brighter, and eerie in a way. He swiftly appeared in front of me, and I panicked.
Z.N. Willett is the girl who has seen more than she has ever wanted; yet decided to add to that world by writing Hollywood romances. I was damaged. Broken. I had given up on men. When I stumbled upon a sleek Jaguar and a man beneath its hood, I was drawn to him instantly. He was electric. He was undeniably attractive. But worst of all? He wanted me. I knew I was in trouble. But somehow, I trusted him. “Breathe, Aria. Christ, please, just breathe for me.” Gavin came into my life like a hurricane, turning my world on its head. I didn’t want to fall for him, but it was inevitable. From the moment we met, he claimed my heart. I knew he would do whatever it took to protect it. When the shadows I fought so hard to escape threatened to tear us apart, could the love we had found be enough to persevere... or would our fight be in vain? "I'm going to give you the world, beautiful. This is only the beginning."
He was my everything. My every day and my every night. My every dream and my every hope. And then he was gone. Someone once told me that love knows no boundaries; it goes beyond time, distance or hatred. Could that possibly be true? It wasn’t until five years after the day Lucas walked away from our life that I realized how true that was. He came barreling back into my reality and I was powerless to stop the love that still festered inside my soul for him. Now that he’s back, I don’t know how I can protect my heart from what he’ll bring. Even after all we’ve lost, can we find the love we once shared? "I was a fool, Kaelyn. There isn't a day that's gone by I haven't wished I'd stayed with you."
"We had the forever kind of love. There was nothing I wouldn’t do for him, except let him go." Aria never imagined that she would find true happiness and love after living the life she had. She’d felt heartbreak, she’d fallen and feared, and she’d hid from the hell her life had become. But she also fought. She bled. She grew stronger and stood taller as the love of one man, the love of her life, stood beside her. His love had carried her through the worst of times, and the best, and she refused to let him go without a fight. Gavin Thomas was always the strong one. No matter what happened, he would rise above it and be stronger for the struggles he had faced. The second his beautiful wife walked into his life, everything changed. He became her protector, her lover, her best friend and then, her husband. Two children, a thousand kisses and a decade later, the love that had sparked between them was as strong as ever, and he thanked his lucky stars every day because of it. But is forever possible for them?

Don’t trust lust at first sight.
EYE CANDYReal Love #1Jessica LemmonReleasing July 25th, 2017Loveswept
Don’t trust lust at first sight. One woman chooses reality over fantasy in this friends-to-lovers romance.
Jacqueline: As an adult woman—and the vice president of a marketing firm—I shouldn’t be waiting by my office window to ogle the mystery man who jogs by every morning at 11:45. Sure, he’s a gorgeous, perfect specimen of the human race, but I can’t bring myself to hit on a total stranger. However, my best friend–slash–colleague Vince Carson thinks I should do more than talk to the guy. In fact, he’s borderline obsessive about “getting me laid.” (His words.) But the more time we spend together, the more it’s clear: The one I’m falling for is Vince.
Vince: Jackie Butler’s got it bad for some pompous, over-pumped A-hole who struts his stuff past her window. That doesn’t bother me. I know she deserves nice things. What does bother me is that she friend-zoned me big-time last year, so I can’t ask her out myself. But what if I set her up with Mr. Steroids? Then, when he breaks her heart, I can swoop in and save her like the nice guy I am. Everything’s going according to plan . . . until we share a ridiculously epic kiss. And suddenly anything is possible.

I really have a thing for friends to lovers books/tropes. They just work for me and the author did such a great job with this. This is the first book in the series and I will definitely be reading all the others. It's a really hard decision to make and to progress things from friends to more. Is it worth the time and effort to change the friendship? What if something goes wrong and you aren't friends anymore? What do you do when you realize that your best friend is the one you're supposed to be with? Do you risk everything and go for it Or do you give up the one thing you want most? Do you stay friends, ignore all the feelings and beat back those pesky loving feelings you're harboring? These are all questions that Vince and Jackie have to ask themselves. After all, Vince already has a failed marriage in his back pocket along with Jackie having one. They both decide to hit the dating scene...Jackie not so much as Vince because Vince is AEOJ or All Eyes on Jackie. What follows is a funny story of friends turning to lovers and then more.
At some points did the shenanigans of Vince get tiresome, but they were fun and I think after reading serious books, we sometimes need that. The next books will follow their friends which I can't wait for. The spicy level for me wasn't terribly bad and I thought the plot was tremendously good.
I was provided an ARC from the publisher/author/NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect anyone else's.
Excerpt JACQUELINE“Truly pathetic, Butler,” I hear behind me. It’s Vince, using my last name, per his usual.I swirl around and peg him with a look of pure fury. He’s VP too, by the way. Did I mention that? Last year when the vice president quit, two of us were promoted to handle the workload in tandem. I guess that was better than one of us leaving the other behind.“What does the sign say?” I bark, pointing at my ajar office door.Vince frowns, looks at it, then reads, “Knock if this is closed.”“And did you? Knock?” I fold my arms.“Yes, actually.” He sticks his fingers into the front pockets of his snug, well-fitting pair of jeans. He always wears dark jeans, a black belt, and a pair of leather shoes. Button-down and tie. He gets away with denim because our company president encourages free spirits and creativity . . . in the men who work here. Meanwhile, the women are expected to look the part of the professional, so I’ll be over here in my silk shirt and pencil skirt and stilettos if you need me. Such is life as a human with XX chromosomes.“You were too busy admiring Golden Boy to hear me.”“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I crane my chin, because nothing says “I’m not lying through my teeth” like a jutted chin.Vince walks over to the window and points at a cheek-shaped smudge on the otherwise perfect glass. “What’s this?”“I . . . fell asleep. Long night.”He grins and a rare blush steals across my cheeks. Not because he’s attractive—though he is. In a scamplike, puckish way. Since he was always “off limits,” it’s easy to forget he might be someone I’d look at twice if circumstances were different. If he hadn’t been so completely gone for his wife when I met him. A dart of pain shoots through the center of my chest at the thought. Leslie leaving shattered him. Whenever I think about those first six months, and how angry and hurt Vince was, I want to mail her an envelope full of glitter. No, seriously. It’s a thing. Have you ever tried to get glitter out of carpet? I have. I used to host craft night at my place. You find shiny little specks for months. Months.“You fell asleep,” Vince repeats flatly, giving me the slowest blink ever. “When are you going to admit you have a schoolgirl crush on that muscle-bound jerk?”“Mark is not a jerk,” I blurt.“His name is Mark?” Vince winces. I backtrack.“No. That’s what Kayla calls him. His name is J.T.”“Do you know why guys use initials for their names?” He smirks, cocky.I prop my hands on my hips and wait.“One of two reasons.” Vince holds up a finger. “One, he’s either too lazy or stupid to spell it, or two, both names are embarrassing. Like”—he pauses, both fingers out like a peace sign as he studies the ceiling before finishing—“Judson Taylor.”I drop my arms. “You think his name is Judson Taylor?”“Or”—another dramatic pause, only one finger elevated this time—“Jaundice Toe . . . jam.”I can’t help it. I burst out laughing, holding my stomach with one arm as I double over. When I recover and push my hair behind my ears, Vince is smiling, pleased with himself. This is why we’re friends. He pulls me out of my why-so-serious, and I make him talk about his feelings. We’re good for each other.

No one knows who The Leverager is, or if they do, they keep his identity a closely guarded secret. You ask to him to do a favor, any favor and he’ll do it, for a price in return of course. He’s exclusive; he meets the needs of his clients one at a time. They say his price is different according to each client, sometimes it’s money, sometimes it’s trade secrets and sometimes it’s a favor that you’ll have to repay in the future. The price is always extortionate—when you make a deal with the devil it always is. And I was willing to pay.
Emerson:His head began to descend closer and closer until his lips were a breath away from mine. Giddy with wanton lust I waited for him to bridge the gap, but he didn’t. He paused, and right when he had me where he wanted, practically ready to swoon, he whispered, “Quit it, I know what you’re trying to do. You aren’t going anywhere. You’re staying the night. It’s past midnight. You take the bed; I’ll take the couch,” he ordered, and then took a step back.
“W–what?” I stuttered in confusion, feeling bereft and frustrated.
“You stay within the boundary of my bedroom, and the rest is my territory. Neither one of us crosses sides,” he said as if he was negotiating a peace treaty, except I’d be getting no peace tonight especially if we weren’t even in the same territory!
“Or we could sleep in the same bed, you stay on the left side and I’ll stay on the right side…no crossovers, no touching, we could even put pillows in between if you’re an active sleeper or have a tendency to spoon in your sleep,” I countered, unable to resist teasing him.
“Nice try, Älskling, but I think we shouldn’t test my restraint any further tonight. I think we both need a little space to cool off, you more than me, it seems. A cold shower might help, and conveniently enough the shower is on your side,” he suggested right before he closed his bedroom door, effectively signifying the commencement of the treaty. And needlessly leaving me aching unfulfilled and exasperated.
There was no way I was going to get any sleep tonight unless . . .
“Dammit,” I whispered to myself. I wished I had my soundproof aluminum casing door sweep for the bottom of the bathroom door to stop him from hearing the cold shower I was about to take.
***
The Leverager:
No, that couldn’t be . . . I cocked my head to the side and listened properly . . . Yep, it was . . . Hearing the sound of the shower I got my pillow and smothered the sound of my laughter. And once it started it didn’t stop for a while.

Title: LuckySeries: No Prisoners MC RomanceAuthor: Lilly AtlasGenre: MC Romance Release Date: July 31, 2017
After six painful months caring for her terminally ill mother, Kori learns the identity of her father. Desperate to connect with the only family she has left, Kori sets out to meet the man responsible for half of her DNA. There’s just one problem: he’s the President of the No Prisoners MC, Las Vegas chapter. Raised as the step-daughter of an MC member, Kori has one rule when it comes to dating: no bikers. But following that rule becomes a real challenge when she meets Lucky, a member of her father’s club. He's handsome, he's sexy, and he makes her feel special. Lucky has his own rule for dating: don’t do it. With a revolving door to his bedroom, he has no interest in a relationship. But what begins as harmless flirting with his Pres's daughter heats up, until he can’t get Kori out of his mind. She's enough to make him give up being single. But Lucky is holding onto a dark secret. He's learned the Pres and VP are involved in activities that could bring down their chapter. He was nearly ready to act when Kori arrived. Now he must decide: move swiftly against his club's leaders, or wait to give his relationship more time to develop? Either way, can he save her from getting caught in the crossfire?
Las Vegas, November 2015Three-fifty-seven a.m. Pretty fucking early. Why the hell he was awake, he had no clue. Maybe his female companion had inadvertently woken him when she crawled her sweet ass out of the bed and slunk into the night.
Lucky’s head was a bit groggy, but the intoxication seemed to have worked its way out of his system. A quick cup of the sludge his MC brothers called coffee and he’d be good to ride home where he could actually get some comfortable sleep. This damn bed was like sleeping on a pile of rocks, and sharp nails.
Now where the hell had his cut landed?
He found it dangling from the foot of the bed. Once dressed, he made his way down the dark hallway toward the main area of the clubhouse. The building was a seven thousand square foot single story old shoe factory that had been converted for their needs years ago. The front of the building served as the heart of the clubhouse. The space was wide open, with a massive bar, pool table, dart boards, and a number of plush, albeit questionably sanitary, couches. That’s where they partied, hung out, and generally caused a ruckus.
A long hallway led to the back of the building where offices and spare rooms were located as well as the giant meeting room, or chapel, where the club conducted its business. Lucky loved his second home, even if sleeping there was a less than restful experience.
He trod as quietly as his booted feet would allow so as not to wake anyone else who’d spent the night. As he neared the bar, loud, angry voices broke the silence of the early morning.
“How did this happen? Tell me how the fuck this happened!” Rebel’s smoke-roughened yell made Lucky wince. Their Vegas chapter president was not someone to piss off. Those who got on his bad side often found themselves missing a tooth or two. Just last year when their club brothers from Crystal Rock, Arizona were in town, Rebel had rearranged some punk’s face for having the nerve to step on his foot and not apologize in a crowded bar.
“I don’t know, Pres. Casper called me just five minutes ago. First thing I did was come to you.” Savage sounded just as agitated as Rebel. Another man you didn’t want to put a target on your ass. Like Lucky, he lived up to his nickname with gusto.
Lucky halted, unsure if he’d be welcome at this moment. If it seemed like they could use his help, he’d be more than happy to jump in, but something felt off about the situation. The small hairs on the back of his neck rose to attention. An issue requiring attention at four a.m. on a Saturday could only mean trouble.
Casper. Why did that name sound so familiar?
“Tell me exactly what Casper said. Word for fuckin’ word. And give me a fuckin’ cigarette. I left mine in my room.”
Silence descended and Lucky pictured Rebel lighting up and sucking in that first soothing drag. In eight years, there had perhaps been three times he’d seen Rebel without a cigarette between his fingers and smoke billowing from his mouth. His leathery face and raspy voice bore the marks of a man who loved his smokes.
“Spit it the fuck out, Savage.” Rebel sounded close to losing his cool. Surprising for a man who ruthlessly commanded respect and never seemed at a loss. Shit must be bad.
“Casper said they’re having ongoing issues with their supply from the cartel. Trust has been a problem since the Crystal Rock chapter ambushed them. Stealing the mil meant for the cartel pissed the Grimm Brothers off, big time. They liked working with Snake but hate Casper’s guts.”
Lucky remembered now. Grimm Brothers MC. Casper was the VP and Snake had been the president for a while. Nasty motherfuckers who caused serious trouble for two of his brothers, Striker and Jester. Snake kidnapped Striker’s woman and blackmailed Jester’s ol’ lady with threats of killing her only brother. The Grimm Brothers were the sworn enemy of the No Prisoners Crystal Rock chapter.
“Shit.” Rebel’s curse was followed by a loud boom that had Lucky jolting. He tiptoed a few steps further into the hallway. He should leave. Spying on the President wasn’t a smart idea, but now he itched to know the rest of the story.
“Did they get this month’s shipment? Thirty percent of that product had our name on it,” Rebel asked.
Wait. What? Lucky’s blood ran cold. His club steered far away from the drug trade.
“Most of it. The cartel held some of it back as punishment for Casper’s bad attitude.” Savage paused and without actually looking at him, Lucky could imagine his cold eyes turn deadly. “Said they have no problem finding new buyers so Casper needs to get his ass in line.”
Rebel let out a harsh laugh followed by a barking cough. “That scrawny asshole knows how much I depend on the cash from our heroin sales. He better get his shit together or the cartel will be the least of his worries.”
Lucky swore his heart stopped beating for a few seconds, just before it kicked up into a fast gallop. Rebel and Savage were selling drugs. Who else knew? Who else was involved? How long had this been going on?
Nausea rolled through his gut like a violent storm. His sister had died of an overdose when she was just seventeen. One of the reasons he’d chosen this specific MC when looking to prospect was the fact that they were fierce in their stance against involvement in the drug trade. Too risky and too much collateral damage. Or so he’d believed.
“Maybe we should consider cutting out the middle man. Deal with the cartel ourselves.” Rebel coughed. The man’s lungs had to be blacker than tar.
“Not a bad idea, Pres. Things ain’t the same since Jester beat Snake near to death. You think Casper finished the job? You know that greedy asshole was just biding his time until he could claw his way to the top and no one’s heard from Snake in the months since.”
“I need a drink. What a fuckin’ mess.” Rebel sighed, then the sound of liquid being poured reached Lucky’s ears.
Well, now he sure as hell couldn’t step out into the bar area. With the stealth of a ninja, Lucky crept back toward the room he’d crashed in. This was far too much information to process at four in the morning after a night of heavy drinking. His thoughts bubbled and swirled like molten lava in a volcano near eruption.
Now he got to choose between two shitty options.
Turn a blind eye and keep his trap closed.
Or run with what he overheard to someone who could help. Take it to the Crystal Rock chapter. Tell them his president and vice president were in direct violation of the club’s strict no drugs bylaw. Be a rat.
And in the MC world, there was nothing dirtier than a rat.
Kori's luck sucks. I'll just lay it all out there. Her mother died. Her father is the President of the No Prisoners MC, Las Vegas chapter. He's a putz to the ninth degree. Just when you think you might like him for one second - he turns into more of a putz. Then, there's Lucky. I liked Lucky from the get-go. He had this way about him that's easy going and easy to love but the thing that got me was he fell fast and hard for the heroine...then when he knows she loves him - he believes something so outlandish that I wanted to break the kindle!! Seriously, I could not wait for what happened to Kori's dad and the VP more. All that to say...Read this book because it's a great addition to the series!!

“Elijah and Kristen’s personal evolutions through the novel, along with their chemistry, feel as authentic as the conflicts they face. A genuine plot filled with steady tension that will keep readers hooked.” – RT Book Reviews
“This book sensitively covers topics such as sexism, handicapping conditions, communication, and ageism. Agency is also shown when Kristen says she wants to pursue studying in a conservatory rather than continue in the band and the three young men acknowledge her wish. Talking about what bothers us rather than trying to guess another person’s feelings is demonstrated through the actions of the characters. The characters’ issues are eventually resolved through hard work and understanding, making this an interesting and informative read." – School Library Connection
Excerpt:Elijah took my hands. “Okay, look. Maybe you’re right. Maybe these people are taking this whole battle thing way too seriously. If you’re scared, then we’ll stop. No more posts except for appearance information.”“So no more battle of the sexes, no more make Kris scream?”He held up his hand. “Swear to God.”“Okay.” I sighed in relief. “You’d really do that?”He leaned closer and repeated the vow. “I promise, Kris.”And just like that, I forgot why I was mad at him. I couldn’t talk, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t even blink because I was afraid he’d let go. This was the part of him I adored. I clung to him for a long moment, and when his gaze drifted to my mouth, I wondered if—hoped—prayed—he’d finally kiss me.And then, Etta’s voice suddenly spoke inside my head. “Well, my God, darling, it’s the twenty-first century. What on earth are you waiting for? You can kiss him.”I could. Yes. Yes, I could just lift my head and lean in and kiss Elijah Hamilton like it was a normal, ordinary occurrence.Right. Like kissing Elijah Hamilton would ever be ordinary?I’d watched him kiss that girl at the mall and was sure I’d memorized all the steps in his routine. He’d move in, grip my face between his hands, run his thumb along my jaw, and finally, glide his arm down around my body, pulling me against his own, all the while, peeking through his lashes to see if I enjoyed it.I wasn’t sure when I decided—even what made me decide. I just touched my lips to his and waited. It took a second or two. But then there was a sudden, tiny squeak from him, and I felt the pulse in his wrist leap under my fingertips.[image error]And then, his hands were in my hair, angling my head just the way he liked it, his tongue brushing against mine, so soft it might have been my imagination...except imaginary kisses were never so intense. He kissed me like I was a song he wrote, lips wrapped around every word until it hummed with hidden meaning and promise, and his hands held me the way they held his guitar—like the music would stop if he let me go.Copyright © The Way It Hurts by Patty Blount 2017
About Patty Blount:Native New Yorker Patty Blount is the award-winning author of several critically acclaimed internet issues novels for teens as well as a few adult contemporary romances. She is inspired to write by such greats as Judy Blume, JK Rowling, and Gayle Forman. In fact, Judy Blume is the reason Patty elected to write under her real name…so she’d appear on shelves next to her idol. Patty adores writing; she’s written everything from technical manuals to song lyrics (see THE WAY IT HURTS, coming August 2017). Patty wants you to know she loves chocolate…really, really loves chocolate. When not crushing on actors Gilles Marini or Sam Heughan, Patty can be found sitting in traffic somewhere on the Long Island Expressway, listening to audio books or talking wildly to herself about plots and characters. Prone to falling madly in love with fictional characters, Patty suffers frequent broken hearts when they all invariably prefer the heroine to her… go figure. When she’s not writing, Patty loves to watch bad sci-fi movies and live tweet the hilarity, and scour Pinterest for ideas on awesome bookcases. Patty lives on Long Island with her family in a house that, sadly, lacks bookcases.

Enrage, an all-new sexy standalone from #1 New York Times Bestseller Rachel Van Dyken is available NOW!!

Enrage by Rachel Van Dyken Release Date: July 31stGenre: Contemporary Romance
Enrage is the next standalone in the international best selling mafia series, Eagle Elite.Part of a world I loathe.Part of a family who hates me more than I hate myself.Living with a girl who reminds me of my darkness.I'm. In. Hell. Also known as the Cosa Nostra. My life was over the minute I stepped off that plane.Son to a murdered mob boss.Heir to a throne of murder and lies.My name is Dante Nicolasi. And there will be blood.Excerpt:Dante slammed his hand into the tree, his jaw popped as he gritted his teeth together and then calm washed over him as he whispered near my ear, “Want me to kill him?” A few people walked by and stared at us, it looked like he was kissing my neck, like we were normal college students sharing a moment. Nope. Wrong story, kiddos. He just offered to kill someone for offending me, run along, nothing to see here. “After,” I said. “Kill him after he stops being useful to you, to the bosses.” I couldn’t believe what was coming out of my mouth, what I was agreeing to. “Yes.” Dante pulled back, his face broke out into a smile. “How messed up is it that I’m actually looking forward to that moment?” I gulped. “It’s in your blood.” “I wish it wasn’t,” he said gruffly. “I wish I didn’t crave it — dream about it — almost as much as I wish I didn’t feel guilt every day because of it.” I sighed and put my hands on his chest, then ran them up around his neck, he didn’t move, or flinch, so maybe we were having a moment as our mouths almost touched. “The only shame in life, is not being who you were truly born to be. If that means you kill the bad guys — kill the bad, guys Dante. Just don’t lose your soul in the process.” “And if it’s already gone?” He croaked his eyes darkening as he slowly leaned in until his forehead touched mine. Days ago I would have been terrified that his body was this close. Days ago, I would have shoved him away and run. Days ago, I would have shuddered that his bloodstained hands were running up and down my skin. But today. Today was different. Today I closed my eyes and drank in the wicked scent of Dante Nicolasi, the cologne mixed with soap. I inhaled. And opened my eyes again. Yesterday I was angry. I was afraid. Today. Against the tree. Pinned by Dante’s arms. I was safe. “I’ll help you find it,” I whispered. “Just don’t damn yourself in the process, El.” He cupped my face with his right hand, his eyes fell to my mouth, his half-lidded seductive look could stop a girl dead in her tracks. The wives always talked about how attractive his father was, even at an older age. Almost like he’d aged backward. Dante was no different. If it was possible for a human to get more attractive by the day — he’d be the one to prove you right. “Are you going to kiss me again?” I asked hopefully. “No.” He pulled away. My heart sank into my stomach. “Because I don’t want to start something I have no intention of stopping.” My head jerked, our eyes locked, and I saw it. The honesty. “Told you I’d never lie to you, El.” His voice had a warning edge to it, like I shouldn’t push him, push whatever invisible boundaries he’d mentally set up between us. His eyes never left mine. And I knew, this was what he looked like when he was telling the truth. His eyes pierced through my defenses in an unapologetic search for my heart, my soul. And I let them. “We should get to class.” I finally found my voice and started walking, he fell into step beside me. And I spent the rest of the day thinking about the non-kiss. And the promise that came with it.

REVIEWBlood in.. No Out...
This book left me feeling wrung out...like I had just run a bloody marathon, saw people die while doing it, left my heart ripped out and lying on the course, but still made it to the finish line!! Oh my God, what did Rachel just do to me? Seriously, I felt as if someone in my family died and my heart was tiny broken pieces and my life's blood was dripping out of the wound. I was so upset with this writer for the rest of the night. Why did she do this? What was she thinking? How could she fix it? WTF? She had been hinting at what she had done for a while and when I received an ARC, I had waited to read it until I read all the other books in the series...AGAIN! To say, that I felt overwhelmed by what was on the pages was an understatement of EPIC proportions. But, as the statement goes...Blood in..No out. This is true in organized crime. There is no out unless you're a rat. I could seriously tell you, but I'd have to kill you. This is the part where I tell you I'm joking, right? Not so much. See, I grew up in a family who's extended family was a lot like this. They believed this code and they lived it. One minute you'd be living high off the hog and the next, you'd have everything taken from you. It's not a far stretch. Yes, it's a book but in the real world, this happens still to this day. So, I understood that this is what had to happen in their world. Dante's story was heartbreaking to me but no less real. I felt the love he had for El and also the hate at the beginning. Rachel did an awesome job with the woven intricacies of the story to make them into a poetry of words. I look forward to the next book to see what she comes up with for our most beloved character of all!! Well done and hats off Rachel!
