When the family dog trots in with my diaphragm in its mouth—in front of my date, his parents, and his adorable little girl—you would think I’d hit rock bottom.
WRONG.
Let’s back this up a sec…
Brendan Daniels is the sexiest man alive. The captain of the Badger’s NHL team is also clever, kind, funny, and was my good friend…until we cruised out of the friend zone one weekend with a red-hot fling. Come Monday morning, I wanted to keep riding the Big O train to happy town, but Brendan wanted someone who was “stepmom” material.
A.K.A, not me, apparently.
The problem? I’m crazy in love with him and his daughter. So when he asks me to be his pretend girlfriend for a long weekend with his former in-laws, I say yes. We’re still friends, after all, and friends don’t let friends fake it alone.
***
Laura Collins is the last woman I should be thinking about taking in the back seat of my car, in the woods behind my in-laws’ house, or in a hotel room where we’re sharing one very small, very squeaky bed.
I need a steady, stable influence for my daughter, not a fling with this too wild, too young, too impulsive red head. So what if she’s beautiful and intense and passionate and has the biggest heart I’ve ever known?
I don’t want to fall in love. I really don’t. The whole “pretend girlfriend” thing was supposed to solve my problems, buy me a little more time.
But when it comes to Laura?
Hell, maybe I’m just not cut out for faking it.

I hate my new roommate.
And I want to do dirty, delicious things to her in that swing she installed that we both know has nothing to do with aerial yoga.
Neither of which is good, considering Diana Daniels is my NHL team captain’s little sister, and he will break my face if I’m not a perfect gentleman.
I try to be. Really, I do. But when Diana runs screaming down the hall wearing nothing but a damp washcloth, all my gentlemanly intentions go out the window. She’s got all sorts of Jedi mind tricks to make a man obsessed with getting her into bed, and I’m not gonna lie—I fall for every single one of them.
Especially the one where she warns me not to fall for her.
***
Everyone knows that banging your new roomie is a bad idea. And if it wasn’t for his sister’s stupid pet pig, Wanda, chasing me out of the bathroom mid-shower, Tanner Nowicki and I might still be able to pretend we hate each other.
But that pig totally has it out for me, and before I can warn Tanner that I don’t do relationships—or hockey players or my brother’s friends, for that matter—he’s doing me. Against the wall. And in his bed. And in my bed. And on a pinball machine where we get an all time high score.
And it’s so incredible that I start to forget that I’m the unluckiest woman alive when it comes to relationships. And pigs. And aerial yoga. And worst of all, love.
But hey, it’s not like I didn’t warn him…

My Review:

Her Scottish Mistake  Her Scottish Mistake by Michele de Winton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a lighthearted read even though it held some not-so-lighthearted themes. I really enjoyed the characters and it wasn't a boring book for me at any time. I hate when I have to put a book down and pick up a different book just to cut up some of the monotony, but I didn't have to with this. It had some seriously hilarious parts in it and I would definitely read this author again in a heartbeat. The thing about books like this is that they're fiction for a reason...the things that happen in them aren't really plausible. That being said...did I have some questions about some of the things that happened in the book because they were implausible?? Yes, but even I can suspend reality for a couple hours to just enjoy reading.

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on NetGalley for an honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.

Release Blitz Oh My Dragon

Title: Oh, My Dragon Series: The I Like Big Dragon Series #3 Author: Lani Lynn Vale Genre: Paranormal RomanceRelease: April 6, 2017 The reclusive Ian barely participates in life, only doing so when his powers demand that he use them or pay the consequences. It seems that there’s not a single person on this planet who doesn’t want something from him, but the pain and suffering of others is nearly unbearable at times, leaving him no choice but to act. That is until Wink unwittingly walks into his life, completely unaware that she’s stepped straight into the dragon’s den.Wink is just trying to get home after a long day of work. Her plans for the evening do not include stumbling upon a man with blood on his hands hovering over a dead woman in her hallway. There are three things that someone in Wink’s position should’ve done in that instance.1. Slowly back away from the hot, bearded killer and run the other way.2. Call the cops.3. Not come back until the scene was safe. Instead, she stops, takes a picture—drawing the man’s attention to her—and then takes off at the speed of a fat, blind and possibly intoxicated penguin. Ian tries to let her go, but the moment that she runs, every single one of his predatory instincts surge to the surface and the hunt is on. Ian always catches his prey, this time is no different. What is different is that, for the first time in his life, he is consumed with the need to keep his catch. She sniffled, and I looked up sharply. And to my horror, I saw the first tear slip down one cheek.Another tear soon followed.“You’re crying?” I asked in outrage.I didn’t handle tears well. There was something about them that had the power to undo me.“You can ignore me,” she said. “It’s just hormones.”“Hormones?” I asked.“You know…hormones. It’s that time of the month. It just happens,” she said flippantly.“So there’s no reason for the tears…you’re just doing it,” I observed. She nodded.“It happens. A lot. Sometimes I cry because I need to, like after I’ve seen a sad video on YouTube. Or sometimes I hear a song that I really like, and the beauty of it moves me to tears,” she explained.“So you’re crying now, not because anything’s amiss, but because you’re a girl,” I said. “Do I have that correct?”She shrugged, causing me to sigh.“That means nothing to me. If you’re going to speak girl, you’re going to have to give me a cheat guide or something. I never had a single female in my life, besides my sister, and that was a very long time ago,” I told her.She glared at me, the tears gone.“You’re not very nice,” she observed.I knew that.I couldn’t help it, either.“I was raised in an orphanage,” I said. “I have absolutely no tact. If you want hearts and flowers, you’re going to have trouble getting that from me.”“Who says that I want that from you?” she challenged. “I’ve only known you for a very short period of time. Not even long enough to form a valid opinion of you or your character.”I sighed.“Did you look in a mirror yet?” I asked her.She stiffened and squirmed.“No,” she lied.My brows rose.“You didn’t?” I asked. “Not even a little bit?”She was cute when she lied. Her nose had a small upturn to it, meaning I knew exactly when she started to lie because a little crease would appear on the bridge of her nose as she concentrated on what to say.“Fine,” she snarled. “What’d you do to me?”I laughed.“I have no fucking clue,” I said honestly. “Magic, I guess.”She pursed her lips in disgust.“Seriously?” she asked. “That’s all you’ve got? Magic?”I shrugged.“I don’t know what else to call it,” I told her.“Prove it,” she challenged. I’m a married mother of three. My kids are all under 5, so I can assure you that they are a handful. I’ve been with my paramedic husband now for ten years, and we’ve produced three offspring that are nothing like us. I live in the greatest state in the world, Texas. HOSTED BY:

What could possibly go wrong?

What I loved about this book was just about everything. Marabelle was about the quirkiest little character I've ever read in a really long time. It was a refreshing change from other books. I loved "Q" or Beau and I really hope he gets his own book because in my mind I just could eat him up. Yummy. Nick was a little curmudgeon and it took a while to warm up to him but once I did, I thought he was the bee's knees. Seriously, if I was around all these guys - I would probably need a bib for my drool. NO LIE!!! I hated Nick's ex-girlfriend. Can we go here for a minute? Haven't we all met the mean girl? The one that we secretly want to run down with our car but don't because that would be illegal!! Just shake your head (It's for your own good.) Or the one's who give the backhanded insults or compliments that make you want to give them an Ex-Lax brownie...I might have done that - Don't judge...you want to. So, anyway back to the book....Marabelle is a force to be reckoned with because she doesn't take any crap and by that I mean, she literally will fight for her "fake" man who is turning out to not be so fake. I have to say by the last 10 percent - I almost wanted to douse Nick in some ether and set him on fire....FIIIRE!!! But, he redeemed himself and the giant misunderstanding was fixed because it would be a total suck if it wasn't.

My only complaint was the formatting on this book which wasn't so much a distraction that I wouldn't read it. I'm kind of hoping that someone takes a look at it before it goes to ebook because I think it might be a turnoff for some. I think it's formatted for paperback.

Otherwise, I think it's an awesome romance with some funny, oftentimes hilarious moments and Michele did a great job of capturing the woes of being a short girl to a T. Pick this up for a weekend of beach, sun and reading!!!

Title: Hot as PuckA Bad Motherpuckers NovelAuthor: Lili ValenteGenre: Steamy Romantic Comedy/Hockey RomanceRelease Date: April 3, 2017

Blurb
The NHL's biggest bad boy is about to fall for the virgin next door…

I am the world’s biggest dating failure. We’re talking my last date went home with our waitress kind of failure.

But I have an ace in the back pocket of my mom jeans—my sexy-as-sin best friend, NHL superstar forward, Justin Cruise.

Justin owes me favors dating back to seventh grade, long before he became a hotshot with a world famous…stick. So in return for my undying platonic loyalty, all I want is an easy-peasy crash course on how to be a sex goddess.

How hard can it be?

***

I have never been so hard in my life.

The things I want to do to my sweet, kindergarten-teaching, mitten-crocheting best friend Libby Collins are ten different kinds of wrong. Maybe twenty.

But I’m a firm believer in teaching by example, and by the end of our first lesson, we’ve graduated to a hands on approach to her sexual education: my hands all over her, her hands all over me, and her hot mouth melting beneath mine as I prove to her there isn’t a damned thing wrong with the way she kisses.

Give me a month, and I’ll transform Libby from wall flower to wall banger, and ensure she’s confident enough to seduce any guy she wants.

Problem is… the only guy I want her seducing is me.

ReviewLibby and Justin have such great chemistry!! In fact, I didn't really want the book to end. You have Libby who is this insecure and unsure of herself teacher and then you have Justin who can't be more sure of himself.  He wants to deny that Libby is a woman in every sense of the word, but he can't because it's staring him in the face. She's his best friend and the love of his life. I love a great best friends to lovers story and this was it for me! I can't wait for her sister's story in the next book because I think it's gonna be just as funny and adorable because...hello children and sexy hockey players. So, if you want hockey players that are ice-meltingly sexy, endearing, and just downright off-the-charts funny...pick this book up from Lili!!

A Perfect Gentleman by Candace Camp

A Perfect Gentleman A Perfect Gentleman by Candace Camp
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

From New York Times bestselling author Candace Camp comes a delicious and steamy marriage-of-convenience historical romance in A Perfect Gentleman.

Forced to marry an American heiress to save his family, Graeme Parr, Earl of Montclair, vowed their marriage would be in name only. Abigail Price thought handsome, aristocratic Graeme was her knight in shining armor, rescuing her from her overbearing father. But when she was spurned by her husband on their wedding night, Abigail fled home to New York.

Now, years later, Abigail has returned. But this sophisticated, alluring woman is not the drab girl Graeme remembers. Appalled by her bold American ways but drawn to her beauty, Graeme follows her on a merry chase through London’s elegant ballrooms to its dockside taverns—why is his wife back? What could she want of him now?

Torn between desire and suspicion, Graeme fears that Abby, like her unprincipled father, has a devious plan to ruin him. But is Abigail’s true desire Graeme’s destruction...or winning his love at last?

Graeme Parr, Lord Montclair needs to get married to save his estate and cover his father's debts. Abigail Price is an American heiress who's father manipulates and blackmails Graeme into marrying Abigail for his title. There's this little problem of Graeme being in "love" with Laura (big issue with this woman) but he goes ahead and marries Abigail. He winds up resenting her though because he believes that she's in on the blackmail and leaves her on her wedding night and disappears. What a winner he is y'all!!! That's just a little side note - If your husband runs away from you on your wedding night...he might NOT be a keeper....JUST SAYING!!

Poor Abigail who's been treated like crap by her father for years is a timid little thing. She thinks that when she met Graeme that because he treated her good before they were married that it would follow into the marriage...WRONG AGAIN. He holds nothing but contempt for her and storms out and goes back to England leaving her to go back to America.

Fast forward ten years and Abigail has grown up a lot. She's beautiful, successful in her own right and knows what she wants. She want's to have a baby and if Graeme won't give it to her, then she wants a divorce. So, he has a choice to make. During this whole time, he's spent it in brothel's and spending it drooling after Laura or as I like to call her "hag who shouldn't be named." I really didn't see all that much character growth with him as a "person" and I didn't like him. I don't know if the author did that purposely, but he just got on my nerves. I mean, just because he doesn't find fathering a child with her a hardship...he's gonna do it out of the goodness of his heart?? OMG...I was laughing at that. However, overall this is another awesome book by Candace and there is some intrigue in this with...OH MY - you'll just have to read it to find out!!!

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on NetGalley for an honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.

Make Me Beg Make Me Beg by Rebecca Brooks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bartender Mackenzie Ellinsworth has always gone it alone. So when she has a chance to open her own bar and restaurant, she’s got a plan for how it should go. Not in that plan: a ripped and rugged playboy stepping in to take over. Mack doesn’t do players, and she doesn’t do one-night stands. If Connor wants to work with Mack, he’s going to have to keep his strong, sexy hands to himself.
Connor Branding is determined to prove he’s not the directionless playboy Mack thinks. But opening a place together causes more problems than it solves. The two of them can’t agree on anything—except how scorching hot their chemistry is. Connor may be ready to indulge every desire Mack’s been denying herself…but turning business into pleasure is likely to get him burned.

My favorite books are those that are about a couple who have known each other for years and yet...they've never gotten together. I love a sassy female lead and a sexy guy who can hold his own. Connor is someone I would have as a best friend - as a matter of fact, he reminds me of my best friend!! He can give as good as he gets. Mack is just one of those heroine's that chip away at your sanity piece by piece. You could feel the slow build up of their chemistry from the very first chapter. Mack's main problem is that she's afraid that Connor is going to leave, but what she doesn't realize is that she's pushing him right out the door. Not only did this book have great chemistry, but it had humor and sexiness with a plot. The only downside was....ABBI!!! I hated that girl. I wanted to throat punch her as soon as she came on the scene. I know, we as writers, put them in there to have some conflict. However, I wanted to cause my own conflict and just slide past her name every time I saw it! I know it's a book, but when you get invested in characters and start seeing them as people then you "done good child!!"

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on NetGalley for an honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.
