Rebecca Brooks lives in New York City in an apartment filled with books. She received a PhD in English but decided it was more fun to write books than write about them. She has backpacked alone through India and Brazil, traveled by cargo boat down the Amazon River, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, explored ice caves in Peru, trekked to the source of the Ganges, and sunbathed in Burma, but she always likes coming home to a cold beer and her hot husband in the Bronx.
Make Me Beg by Rebecca Brooks was a very heartfelt and entertaining read. I really enjoyed it.
When I started reading Make Me Beg I wasn't sure I was going to like/connect with Connor. To me he came across a little too cocky and a little too sure of himself. But the more time I spent hearing his thoughts the more he grew on me. I loved his passion and I loved seeing him and Mack together. They made me laugh with their banter and antics. They truly had a love/hate relationship going on.
Mack/Mackenzie was such a great character. She was passionate, she was smart and she could cut you down with just one look. I loved getting to know her and I loved how much she cared about her craft as a Bartender. For her it was more than just mixing drinks, it was the sweet memories of the two special people who took her in, showed her love and stability, something she never had growing up.
Watching the relationship between Connor and Mack unfold had me laughing, smiling one minute to wanting to hit them on the head with my frustration the next. These two had off the charts chemistry, their sexy times made my iPad sizzle but unless they find a way to move from the past hurts and trust each other 110% it was never going to come to anything.
*fans self*
I don't want to spoil the story for anyone, so all I'll say is by the end of the book I was one very happy girl to have read Make Me Beg.
Make Me Beg is the second book from the Men of Gold Mountain series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them.
Looking forward to the next book, I'm hoping author Rebecca Brooks gives us Abbi's story next, that girl needs to find her forever :)
Make Me Beg is the second story in Rebecca Brooks’ Men of Gold Mountain series. The title (and cover) likely make you think that it’s going to contain some pretty steamy scenes, and you wouldn’t be wrong. The title also signals the way the main characters treat each other for most of the story, one or the other always having to come out on top in their passionate relationship. The truth is that they won’t find a happy ending until they learn to lay everything on the table and come to each other as equals.
Connor Branding has been backed up by his family wealth and privilege his whole life. As a result he’s never had to work hard for anything, going through chef school and taking time to travel around. A transient stop in Gold Mountain becomes a temporary home base, with a job as a chef at a local bar and a chance to sample the abundance of female tourists. When the opportunity to invest in a new restaurant to take the place of his current employment comes up, he has grand ideas. With the backing of his father’s money, he can turn it into an upscale resort restaurant, and prove that his training hasn’t all been for naught. The catch is that his co-worker Mackenzie is going to be his business partner. They’ve got a ‘frenemies’ type of relationship , working surprisingly well together despite their constant sparring. But joint partners in a new venture? That’s a whole new ball game.
Mackenzie Ellinsworth knows what it’s like to be on her own. With an unknown father and mother who died of a drug overdose, she was moved from one foster home to another as a child. A dishwashing gig helped save her, and led to her gaining the barkeeping skills that she parlayed into a career. The bar owner who took her under his wing as a teenager became her family, and when he passed away, she promised him she’d start her own place named Mackenzie’s in his honor. This is her chance and only one thing is standing in her way – the rugged playboy who was supposed to leave town and not hang around to defy her at every turn. A chance discovery that they are both using the same dating app leads to the first in a series of steamy encounters where they find that their inability to keep their hands off each other is as inevitable as the fights they have over the direction of the new restaurant. Can they find the compromise they need to make a go of both a joint business venture and a real relationship?
On the surface, this is a pretty straightforward romance. Co-workers who eventually become lovers is a fairly common trope, as is the whole enemies to lovers theme. Connor and Mackenzie don’t truly fall into ‘enemy’ category as they hang around with the same circle of friends, but their initial meeting doesn’t put them on the best footing. When Connor first rolls into town and flirts with Mack behind the bar, she’s flattered but knows he’s not going to stick around and it’s not worth the emotional or physical investment to let things go further. Getting the message that Mack isn’t interested, Connor turns his eyes to other women, and then ends up staying in town. For the next few years Mack doesn’t want to admit to herself that she’s jealous of the women Connor spends his nights with, though she can see that none of his encounters are serious (which in a way proves to her that he’s not commitment material). And Connor just seems genuinely oblivious to Mack’s hurt feelings and takes her snarky attitude towards him as par for the course.
When the attraction between them comes to the surface, it’s as if a pressure cooker is finally letting off steam. After the first explosively sexual encounter they promise it won’t happen again. And then after the second – the same. And the third – and so on. When they do admit that they are sexually compatible, they still hold back from any kind of emotional commitment. At the same time as they are having these passionate and secretive encounters (heaven forbid any of their friends find out!) their public disagreements about what kind of restaurant they want to invest in escalate. Eventually, keeping business and pleasure separate becomes impossible and leads to some serious conflict that threatens to ruin all of their plans.
Connor and Mack are both very likable yet very different characters. Connor is the playboy, the handsome flirt who always gets what he wants (or so others perceive). His skills in the kitchen are underrated and there are some delicious foodie scenes where he proves his talent (and his sexually dominant personality). He has the desire to be recognized for those skills, yet worries about failure. Mack is a self-reliant woman who has experienced so much loss in her young life that her walls are almost impossible to scale. She doesn’t want people’s sympathy – even her close girlfriends know nothing about her upbringing – she wants to be judged for the here and now, for her talent in mixology and her drive to succeed. Letting Connor into her body is easy. Letting him into her heart is much more challenging.
What surprised me about this story is the depth of emotion between Connor and Mack as they navigate the minefield of their growing relationship. In spite of their very different backgrounds, Connor and Mack both fear failure for similar reasons. Worry about disappointing the parental figures in their lives is what drives them and puts them on the collision course for their different views of what kind of restaurant they want. And there is no right or wrong person in this argument, so without compromise, it’ll be broken hearts all around. The sex, as much of a magnet as it is for these two, is not enough to hold them together and there are tears, accusations and gut wrenching truths that lead to forgiveness, redemption and eventually that all important happy ending. Make Me Beg is an entertaining and sexy romance with imperfect characters who find that the way to true love is not easy but is worth the effort.

ARC Review: Make Me Beg (Men of Gold Mountain) by Rebecca Brooks
The sparks start early and the passion quickly catches flame between Mack and Connor. I love the way she knows what she wants and means what she says. Connor has a mouth that's as dirty as his fantasies, but a heart as pure as the driven snow. With Make Me Beg, Rebecca Brooks strikes the match that sets the stage for some real explosive action in and out of the bedroom. Personality meets temptation, with a ton of heart for good measure. HOT FUN!!
Connor and Mack? Bring it on, and wow did she ever! Book 2 in the Gold Mountain series is crazy good. Connor, dear Lord deliver me. The mouth on that man. Connor is Austin's friend from book one. You remember him right? Ok, put it on the list after you read this one. Mack, bartender and Connor the chef are in their usual head to head, argue/ playful banter. Mack thinks he's a man whore and has no problem telling him to his face; and everything else she dislikes about him. The banter between these two is comical yet there is a serious side to it as well. I can't describe them, think bottle rockets on July 4th.
Things change when Sam comes in to talk to them; Diggers is no longer pulling a profit so the plan is to tear down, rebuild and start anew, right down to the menus. She offers Mack and Connor each part ownership, which they're both receptive to. This is also where the two paths diverge in a huge way. He's got his ideas as chef, she's got her ideas for drinks but the main issue and the most contentious is she wants to name it Mackenzie's. He just goes over the edge. He doesn't offer up a better name, it's just a major sticking point. Add to this these two are now burning up the sheets, bar, picnic blanket.... and the steam and chemistry is just amazing. Connor explains to her why he hung around all this time-3 years when her biggest fear is that he'll always leave. What he doesn't understand is the reasoning beneath her fears. But the door has opened for conversation, and that at times runs from the ridiculous to the sublime in the very best of ways. An innocent night out with Abbi, who I could have stuck my foot right square up her backside (she got on my nerves in a huge way), a great night between Connor and Mack and they're all having breakfast the next morning when Abbi starts running her mouth. Mack tells her to can it, she doesn't and Connor is crushed. Connor turns the tables on Mack, not knowing what she's been through and even though he's hurt he cuts her in pieces. I get where he was coming from, I also clearly see Mack's side. I see two people who couldn't sit and have an honest conversation out of fear. So Connor does exactly what Mack has always feared he'd do. He leaves. She goes over to apologize and to make things right and it's over. He's packed and leaving. He feeds right into her insecurities and into his own feeling of less than. Rebecca couldn't have written a more deep, emotional story about two people who want something (love) from each other and can't seem to get on the same page. It's been three years. The backstory is great. You don't have to read book one, this stands alone. The characters, ( minus Abbi) (I don't like her ok? Get over it) are real people with half a wit and intelligence. The complexities of the drinks and the food menu is great. Nothing in here not to love. Couldn't have been better and the ending.... ahh.... gotta read the book. Sorry. Great story Rebecca!! I loved it!! Bring on book 3
**arc provided by Netgalley and Entangled in exchange for a fair review**
The back and forth between the Mack and Conner is amazing. The hate/love going on jumps off the page. The chemistry between the two is sizzling. I loved every aspect of this story and loved getting to know Mackenzie and Conner and see how their Bar/restaurant would turn out!
This is a story of two people who have known each for three years, they're not sure if they really like each other, but they end up falling in love. It's been done many times but NOT LIKE THIS! Rebecca writes books that draw you in and keep you there till the last word is read. MacKenzie and Connor have wonderful banter that grates on each other but is a blast to read. The bar is going under and they both have an opportunity to be part owners with Sam (who we met in book 1) but neither agrees with what the other wants. Because they don't communicate and open up to each other, neither really knows the other well. I loved this book and hope there's another book of Men of Gold Mountain!!
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.
First lets start off my saying that this is a new author for us and we enjoyed our first read by them and will be looking forward to continuing this series.
I loved the character's in this story they were easy to relate to.The plot was fairly simple yet engaging enough to keep your interest.
I always pick a favorite character in a story and mine is going to MacKenzie.I loved how driven she was.I found her to be feisty, funny, smart, sexy, sensitive, out going and one who loves with her whole heart, and cares dearly for her friends.I found her to be emotionally strong when it came to business aspect of things but with her personal life unsure of herself.I loved the chemistry she had with Connor they made a cute couple.I loved the fact the she an Connor had a lot in common yet neither realizing it.
I loved Connor as I found him to be sexy, funny, smart, creative, talented and excellent chef.I loved seeing the sensitive side him.Connor lacks self confidence in himself and it makes him afraid to peruse his goals.MacKenzie on the other hand lacks confidence in her personal life but not in work and business.
I have to say that I loved the cat and mouse game this couple had going on it made for some really funny moments with the teasing, dirty talk and playfulness that both exhibited. The chemistry made for some very hot sexual encounters. With this couple the chemistry was not enough as Connor is known for being a womanizer and that constantly keeps getting in the way with their relationship. Both Connor and Mackenzie have trust issues and personal issues that they both need to figure out in order to be what each other needs.
I loved being on this couples journey of finding love and happiness.Theirs was not and easy path for either of them both needing to deal with their past and current issues.I loved once this couple finally got everything out in the open and what they wanted from each other their relationship started blossoming.
And enjoyable read with emotional ups and downs a little bit of self discovery and learning to let the past go in order to find happiness in your future.A light fun read to pass the time with and added bit of humor.I love when I can connect with the characters I read about and I was able to do that which I love as it makes for more of an enticing read for me.A cute love story that I throughly enjoyed.
A recommend read to all and we are giving this story 4 stars from us.Looking forward to future reads.
Mackenzie Ellinsworth gets a chance to partner and create a bar and restaurant that could help her achieve something she has always wanted, the only hitch she has is her partner is Connor Branding. Connor has made it clear he was not building roots, even as a chef at their current restaurant he always seemed to have one foot out the door and one foot in bed with a revolving door of women.
When weather plays a part with the help of some drinking Mack and Connor come together in an explosive way. However Connor is not into stability and it is the one thing Mack needs. Can Connor be what Mack needs or will he continue to live a cavalier life?
Good story, I thought the chemistry between Mack and Connor was spot on. The author had a way of creating details that made it to visualize what was going on. Will be checking out more in this series.
You know what I really love in a book … when both leads are truly passionate. Honestly, Mackenzie and Connor both were super alpha and it made their chemistry that much more passionate and scorching. I loved the tug-of-war they played with each other. Even I loved to hate them ;) lol They sparred really well together. Their wit and banter was always very intense and just really enjoyable to read. It made for a really fast read for me.
I loved that Rebbeca Brooks made tending bar more than just a job for Mackenzie. It was beyond a means to an end. It was her passion. And it showed in the story. I could feel it as I read.
These two have dancing around each other for quite some time. When the opportunity to open up a new bar with both of them as owners comes up, it’s like the golden ticket. THIS is their chance to move to the next level. Or so it seems. *sigh* Rarely is life ever that easy LOL Fears need to be overcome, baggage needs to be unveiled and disposed of and communication definitely needs to happen. And it all does happen in the book, unfolding perfectly. It really was a really good romance read from beginning to end!
I’d start off by saying that I really do like Rebecca Brooks’s writing: there's her ability to tease out nuanced emotions and so finely articulating the pain of being left behind and the walls people build to protect themselves.
The problem was, I didn’t think there was very much to like about Connor: a privileged bummer, not wanting to commit to anyone or business or job with a lack of motivation and drive just bothered me. It’s probably my own preference for male protagonists to be at least more driven or propelled by purpose with some kind of ethic as well and I didn’t see that in Connor at all. That he lauded the easy way out most of the time by bouncing around didn’t make him that much of a worthy ‘hero’ for this story, more so when it had to take several huge kicks in the arse just so he would get going and focused.
Then it was all about him suddenly needing to prove himself not the bum, but that he could be someone else entirely. Yet, the sneaky insert that claimed he always wanted Mack, that it’d always been her—yet didn’t push hard about it and hopped from different women to distract himself for 3 years—was a rather revolting revelation, adding to my flakey impression of him that had by then, solidified.
He grovels well, though, which is possibly the only redeeming point…in my small and petty mind.
By contrast, Mack’s ability to work through hardship—and her determination to make things succeed because she’d been handed so little in life—was impressive as hell. I liked that she didn’t take any crap from him, gave as good as she got, and pretty much bulldozed her way through the veil of insouciance that he got going. It was easy to understand why she behaved the way she did, afraid to give an inch to Connor (rightly so, in my opinion) because she’d simply be left in the dust when he always gave indications of being chaff in the wind. That she’d staked her entire reputation, beliefs and cash on the refurbishment of the bar doesn’t come as a surprise, given her commitment to wanting to see things through and make a name for herself through sheer hard work.
That said, Brooks’s writing is persuasive enough for me to want to see what else is in store for us—that much can I be swayed by good writing. I’m just going to cross my fingers for protagonists (both the H/hr) whom I can get fully behind.
This is a love/hate romance story. I just couldn't put this book down till I'd finished the last page. The chemistry between the characters is set the pages alight hot. The background story of these characters is fantastic. These book can be read as stand alone. This book has a fantastic ending. You are always in for a fantastic read with this author. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future. Highly recommended I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. www.obsessedbookreviews.com
Rebecca Brooks proves that frenemies-to-lovers can be hot as hell in Make Me Beg. Connor and Mackenzie are two interesting, flawed characters with chemistry so appealing I devoured their story in one sitting.
Connor is a chef, a playboy, and a man who hasn’t ever committed to putting down roots. Gold Mountain was just supposed to be his stop onto bigger and better things, but there’s something about the town – and about Mack – that keeps him rooted to the spot. Connor is easy to like. Despite his love ’em and leave ’em ways and the way he frustrates Mack, he’s got a good heart and his character develops wonderfully. I loved watching him come into his own as he fell for Mack. And speaking of the woman who can bring Connor to his knees, Mack is equally stubborn and can be a bit combative, but she’s got a good heart, and a past that has scarred her and left her with mile-high walls to hide her vulnerability. It’s clear that she and Connor would make an excellent pair, but the way they make assumptions and don’t communicate threatens to derail them. Normally the lack of communication would be incredibly frustrating to me, but Ms. Brooks does an excellent job of making me see why Mack and Connor are the way they are. Sex both clarifies and complicates things for them, and the road to happily ever after definitely isn’t an easy one for these two. Surprisingly, what made Make Me Beg stand out for me was the downs rather than the ups. Mack in particular makes mistakes that hurt Connor, but he actually calls her on it – something that rarely happens in the books I’ve read lately – and I appreciated that both of them not only wholly accepted one another, but were willing to stand up for themselves when needed.
While it’s a rocky road for Mack and Connor, that doesn’t mean the story is missing out on red-hot moments. Make Me Beg is insanely sexy and when Mack and Connor are on the same page they make an incredible couple. I finished Make Me Beg wanting to explore the world of Gold Mountain more. While Mack and Connor’s story can be read as a standalone, I will definitely be picking up the first Men of Gold Mountain book, Make Me Stay!
FTC Disclosure: I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Mackenzie Ellinsworth has a chance to open her own bar and restaurant, so she has a plan how is should go. Nowhere in her plan has a hot playboy stepping in and taking over. Mack has no time nor inclination for one-night stands, so if Connor wants to work with her, he's going to have to keep his hands to himself. Connor Branding is going to prove to Mack that he's not the man whore that she believes him to be, especially since they will be working closely by opening the place together. Make Me Beg is so much more than what I just spit out above, and I LOVED LOVED LOVED EVERY MINUTE. I met Connor and Mack in Make Me Stay, and I couldn't wait for their story. Their chemistry is off the charts flammable, which finally EXPLODES into panty disintegrating sexy scene goodness that I couldn't get enough of. This is the second book that I've read by Rebecca Brooks, and her talented writing style has made me a fan! One thing that I truly love about the Men of Gold Mountain series, is the witty banter that makes for well placed humor that keeps me laughing. And the main characters, and the colorful secondaries are all my favorites. So I cannot wait for her next awesome book! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Here we have Mack and Connor, two people who hate each other, that now have to work together if they want to make the new bar/restaurant a success.
I really liked Mack and her badassness, totally in charge of everything. But I loved her softer side even better. This girl went through some pretty crappy things, yet still she can think of a better future for herself. Most of all, I loved her strength, even when that made her build walls around her heart to let people out.
Connor was great too, not as shallow as I initially thought and with a pretty sweet side that I loved. I really enjoyed reading his changes and the changes he provoked in Mack. These two really were great for each other.
As I said, this was a fun read with a little bit of everything: hotness, sweet moments and a few ups and downs in between.
*Thank you to Entangled Publishing for providing an ARC in exchange of my honest opinion*
I have a hard time connecting with the Hero and Heroine. I find them both to be unlikable and annoying.
Hero was a womanizer, who expected people to respect him and take him seriously with a snap of his finger. I guess nobody tell him respect is to be earned, not demanded......
Heroine blow hot and cold constantly. One minute she is hot for the hero, and next minute, in a blink of an eye, she is cold, aloof and rude.
I did finish the book, with plenty of skimming and skipping.
Make Me Beg is novel two in the Men of Gold Mountain series so if you’ve read first book then you’ve meet both Mac and Connor. Since I did read the first book in this series I was interested to read how it would play out between these two. And they didn’t disappoint! This novel was funny, intense, intriguing, and with page burning scenes. I love Mac because she is just an all-around bad ass heroine, while Connor is funny and captivating hero. I loved these two together and I especially enjoyed reading those in and out of the bed room scenes! Ms. Brooks sure knew how to have her characters mix business and pleasure! Definitely, a novel I would recommend because it’s an easy 5 star read!

I'll keep this short and sweet. Better than I thought it would be. First let me say the sex scenes are hot , hot, hot with a side of steamy. I liked Mack and Connor. It's a fun read but Mack's backstory adds a dose of seriousness . Find read to get yourself in the summer read mood.
4.5. stars MacKenzie und Connor sind bei weitem nicht perfekt sind und besitzen so manche Schwäche, aber ihre Geschichte hat mir wirklich gut gefallen!
° MacKenzie and Connor are far from being perfect and have their respective flaws, but I really loved their story!
This was a hot and steamy, yet heartfelt romance. Ms. Brooks took a love-hate relationship and made it into much more than a clichéd trope.
Mack & Connor's story reminds us that just because you've known a person for a while, it doesn't mean you know everything about them.
The banter between the two main characters was one of the things I loved about this book. The other was how the author made the transitions from anger to passion effortlessly.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book, which I received from NetGalley & Entangled Publishing.
Rebecca Brooks is a new to me author and one that I'm looking forward to more from. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself absolutely in love with these characters! The sizzling attraction between Mack and Connor was obvious from the very first page and their chemistry just got hotter and hotter. Mack and Connor both had some serious issues to overcome, Mack maybe a little bit more than Connor. But they were both stubborn and strong willed characters! I loved the funny and witty banter between them. Their story was well written and fast paced. Told from dual POVs with a sweet ending. I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Connor could be a thoughtful man, “I wanted to let you sleep . We were up so late and you were burrito-ed up like a little Mack morsel. I couldn’t help it.” I liked this book, loved Connor.
Mack was looking through the portfolio of someone to date in her town on a dating app and found Connor who she worked side by side with at the Dipper in Gold Mountain. He was the chef and she tended bar. He was so not her type: arrogant. A player, and he still talked like he was going to pack and leave town any second for something better. Connor told Mack they would find her someone. Her best friend Abbi had talked her into the dating app. Connor caught her checking out his profile and took her phone. Sam owned Kane Enterprises and had bought most of Gold Mountain including the Dipper. Sam told Connor and Mack that they were being offered the chance to design a new bar and restaurant and become co owners with each other and Sam. but they had to put up quite a bit of money. Connor could go to his parents but Mack had no parents . Connor met with his best friend Austin at a dive on the outskirt of town when in walked Mack with two of her friends. Connor found he cared whether other guys were checking out Mack and he noticed what she was wearing and how well it fit her body. When did that happen? But would ideas ever match for the bar/restaurant? A couple days later Connor had a date and was driving to the hotel when he noticed Mack’s car was parked at the bar.he didn’t know if Mack was aware of the storm warnings so he stopped. Mack was making different types of shots and he had some and then the storm knocked the lights out and a tree came down and blocked them from being able to leave until the tree was moved. They had sex but then Mack felt she had just been stupid Connor didn’t even like her. But for some reason every time they were alone Connor and Mack had some form of sex yet still couldn’t agree about the business they were suppose to be designing. Then Mack told Abbi she would come and they could go out to dinner and then a have a drink. Abbi talked to a motorcycle guy and in the end tanked. Mack had the number of Adam who wanted to take her out but he didn’t really interest Mack. also mack thought of Connor the whole evening. This was a great story. I didn’t want to put it down with the give and take of this story. One minute Mack and Connor couldn’t keep their hands off each other the next arguing over what the name of the bar restaurant was going to be or the type of food to be offered.. It did make me snicker at times. I felt for Mack and the life she had lead when she was younger. I liked how Mack didn’t back down from Connor but couldn’t resist him either. I loved how Connor stopped seeing other woman as soon as he and Mack had sex. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I recommend. I would rate this a 4.5 if I could.
Book 2 in the Men of Gold Mountain series can be read as a stand alone book and is a lust to hate to love book. Connor and Mack were instantly attracted to each other but after learning that the handsome chef was just passing through Gold Mountain, Mack decided to protect herself and back away, quickly. That was three years ago but with his revolving door of women, Mack feels justified in labeling him a man whore. Connor has become the chef and Mack, the bartender of the same restaurant/bar. Working beside each other daily, they've fallen into this acerbic banter back and forth that would cut lesser mortals to shreds but is fun for the reader.
When the new owner of the bar where they work decides to gives them an opportunity to reinvent the bar/restaurant, they have to figure out a way to lay down the weapons and find a way to agree. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for them both to partner and co-own something amazing. In brainstorming, they learn plenty about themselves and each other. The chemistry between the chef and the bartender sets the kitchen on fire. Can Mack let Connor in or will her fear of him running cause her to run first? Can Connor stick it out to get something great or will he do what he does best and leave?
Great story with complex characters! Angsty but with tons of heart.
I have a new rule when it comes to Rebecca's books: don't read them if a vibrator isn't within reach.
Because 🔥🔥🔥 *fans self* *takes a cold shower*
Beyond amazing sex, this book is plain fun. Mack & Connor are intense characters who light each other up. They're sassy and strong and their chemistry is off the charts. I loved watching them go from enemies to enemies who fuck to lovers.
I flew through this, and found myself going, "wait its over already?! Give me more tension and more explicit sex!"
Four stars because the last few chapters felt a *little* off to me, a little rushed. And not enough sex. Because Rebecca's could write an entire book of just sex and I'd read it she's THAT good.
So can't wait till the next book drops later this year!
Make Me Meg is Book 2 of the Men of Gold Mountain series by Rebecca Brooks
This has all the aspects that I love about Entangled Brazen books: great banter, some scoring hot chemistry, a healthy dose of tension (loved the love/hate push and pull between Mack and Connor), a decently paced story and plenty of super sexy times
The characters were related and real and I loved the frenemies to lovers tension. It's not nothing new in romance books, but the banter between the two main characters (with a cast of excellent supporting characters) made this a quick, fun and enjoyable read and I can't wait for the next book in the series
Make Me Beg is a FIVE STAR read! I had read the first book in the Men of Gold Mountain series and was really looking forward to Mack and Connor's story. Circumstances force Mack and Connor to partner up in the bar and restaurant business. The sparks fly as the two attempt to work together to realize their dreams. Mack is a strong, determined heroine, worthy of our respect. Connor is a sensitive, alpha hero who's easy to love and even easier to fantasize about. The chemistry between these two is sizzling and Ms. Brooks really knows how to make you feel the tension the characters are experiencing. Lots of dog eared pages in this one! Bring on book three!
Make Me Beg by Rebecca Brooks is the second book in the Men of Gold Mountain Series. This story is about MacKenzie (Mack) and Connor. Connor is a drifter. He can't seem to find a place he really wants to stay in for a long time and Mack is living in the past and can't seem to let go of her past life. When Connor and Mack are placed into business together, they can't seem to agree on anything. Only thing they can agree on is how hot the sheets turn when they are in them together. The banter between the two is hilarious and the sex is hot. But what happens when true feelings are brought forward and the love/hate relationship is at a standstill?
4 stars I liked these 2 unlikeable characters! First you have Bartender Mackenzie Ellinsworth. She is also known as Mack. She is kind of a know it all, a little mean, and a little immature. She likes playboy Connor Branding , but is mean to him because she likes him..... well she discovers that later on. She is mean to him because he is a dog.
Connor has a thing for Mack. he always has. He just needs to prove to her he is worth the risk. Connor doesn't know about Mack's past, so he thinks she is just has the wrong perception of who he really is or can be, with the right women.
