My science-defying strawberry milkshake

This is a glass of strawberry milkshake.

strawberry milkshake homeopathy
A glass of strawberry milkshake is sweet. Remember that fact. It will be relevant later.

Now I'm going to pour it all out and fill the glass with water, shake it nicely and then pour the water out. And then I am going to fill it again with water. Shake it. Pour it out. Fill it again with water. Shake it. Pour it out. I will do this a few hundred times.

Now I will serve you the final glass of water. And I claim that it is really potent strawberry milkshake...

#AlternativeFacts - Ellen DeGeneres' Dory & other movie villains

It is tiring keeping up with Trump & his posse, isn't it? I mean, you don't even have time to process a tweet of his, let alone an order or alternative fact, before the next half a dozen have arrived. Heck, even Saturday Night Live is struggling to keep up so who are we mere mortals?

I wanted to talk about a relatively mild-flavored incident actually.
It relates to my favorite feel-good host, Ellen DeGeneres. At a time when the other late night talk show Avengers  (Stephen Colbert, Jim...

The Best of Hrithik Roshan

Best movies of Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan.

Hero. Superhero. Thief. Villian. King. Terrorist. Quadriplegic.
And come this weekend, blind too in Kaabil.

Let me say something that I have been saying for years: I do not believe Hrithik Roshan has lived up to his true potential.

Watching him from his first movie onwards, it seemed a given to so many that this was the rare Bollywood talent who could have struck gold had he moved to Hollywood. Watch the best movies of his and you can see a man dedicated to the intricacies...

Kiddo #FridayFotoFiction

He watched as she drew random patterns upon her wedding dress. She leaned sideways, resting her meticulously-done hair upon his shoulders.
"I'm scared. I don't want it to..."
"It won't be." he finished. "Kiddo, you were young and immature back then. You will make a wonderful wife today. He's lucky to have someone like you."She sighed, a smile peeking through the frown.
"Where were all these compliments back when we were married?"
"You are not the only one who's changed. Heck, I'm a hunk now, if y...

Conjure Your Patronus

We first see the Patronus in J.K. Rowling's 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'.
It is magical, a trained wizard conjuring a mist-like shield to ward off the Dementors, dark entities that feed upon happiness. Except it really isn't magic, is it?

Consider what Lupin tells Harry while explaining how to make his patronus.

"With an incantation, which will work only if you are concentrating, with all your might, on a single, very happy memory."

That incantation, of course, is Expecto Patronum....

On Winning Write India...

The extraordinary year long literary journey that began in India in 2015 is over.
Write India Stories is now available online here.

Write India started off as an idea, the root of which was the belief that there is no shortage of literary talent in India. Readers and authors across the world acknowledge the skill required to bring beauty to prose within a caged word-limit. The difficulty invariably is in selling a product with unknown faces, irrespective of their talent.

That is where th...

Movie Characters that remind me of myself #TadkaTuesday

For #TadkaTuesday, Jaibala and Deepa ask us to talk about the movies we relate to the most. While there are so many movies I love, when it comes to movies I personally relate to, it is a harder question to answer. It comes down to character traits I relate to more, doesn't it?
So here are 10 characters from movies that I relate to personally and the reasons why.

Robin Williams (Patch Adams)Someone who does not agree with society's rigid stances and wants to help others but finds many an o...

A Single Candle in the Darkness #DearZindagi

Dear Life,
We really have seen it all, have we not?

The 90's came and went and as my turbulent teens came to pass, I thought we had it all figured out, our first love appearing before our eyes every time we tried to focus on the geography and biology within our texts as our audio cassettes of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge serenaded us. Awaiting my turn in the Ferris-wheel of destiny so that I could reach the top, I knew I was going to conquer the world... I just could not grow up fast enough.

Th...

Recipe - Tender Coconut Unniappam

Unniappams are an extremely yummy sweet snack that every Keralite swears by. The traditional Unniappam aka Unniyyappam aka Neyyappam is a deep fried, sweet rice dish that usually incorporates banana, jaggery and ghee in it. Like Lays and Pringle chips or prawns, no one can eat just one (at least, that has been my policy so far in life!)

  Tender Coconut Unniappam Neyyappam

As always, we decided to do a twist on the traditional so out went the banana and jaggery. Instead, we decided to make a sweet Tender Coconut Unniappam t...
