Farewell

izzy had to bury his dog this morning;

forced to watch his friend drip every

last breath onto the cold concrete,

wrapping him in old sewn up blankets

that barely kept winter at the door.

fingers drizzling beads of sweat,

writhing together like prayer beads,

chanting internally, i love you, as if

the inevitable could be put off for one

more day. but izzy does not know how to

love, would be better off learning to

hug the ocean of people that slowly

bled him to remain still, only apologizing

for not being able to give his friend comfort,

body quivering at the dying animal.

flames pale beneath his skin as

they silently say their peace in

hopes to meet in another life.

Update on Requiem

Might have another publisher on board for my next book, working title “Requiem” Almost done, just need to add a few more things to round it out and edit. Will be sending it out to a few friends to see if I can get a foreward written and will be getting the cover art completed soon.

Requiem is a collection of work focusing on hardship. Each piece will have personal experiences regarding LGBT discrimination, car repossession, terrible ex-lovers, simply being broke, maintaining a relationship in hard times, and much more. The collection will feature about 40-50 poems and include a few from an old chapbook which will be out of print soon. Hoping to have a May release, but we shall see how that goes.

If you have not picked up your copy, it is something I would definitely reccomend. Published by Weasel Press, The Madness of Empty Spaces takes you through some dark and twisted turns.

Not all poetry is roses and green forests. There are those of us who tremble into a darker world when the words spill out of our fingers, such is the nature of our madness. There is a few select working and living in the darker forms of poetry, those who spew out the daunting and sometimes horrific subjects the world around us has to offer. The Madness of Empty Spaces is a celebration of the macabre; an in depth look at the darker side of poetry. David E. Cowen has produced a stunning collection of work in this latest book, The Madness of Empty Spaces, published through Weasel Press. We invite all our readers to open up and explore a revived world of poetry, a world that isn’t afraid to tingle the senses and chill our bones. The words in this collection will leave you all haunted and itching for more. We are excited to include this collection in our 2014 line up and we’re certain you’ll love every daunting moment. Purchase your copy of, The Madness of Empty Spaces by David E. Cowen today!

Now taking...

Now taking preorders!

We harbor the mad ones. People who are dedicated to their work to the point that they become misunderstood, or seen as a hot mess of crazy. Our anthology does not seek to break boundaries, we want to break boundaries and go farther. We want the shameless—the deep dark, cigarettes and dirty words combo. Although there is not a set theme of what we’re looking for, we often look at slice of life works. Works featuring the life of the nameless, whether it’s the brighter side or if it’s the pure filth.

This latest edition to our zine is no exception. Readers will be rather surprised with the energy that is brimming throughout the pages of this collection of work. We would like to welcome you to another explosive edition to Vagabonds: Anthology of the Mad Ones!

Ribbon and Leviathan:...

Manna Plourde is an explosive writer, and one I’m happy to have a part of Weasel Press. She joined us when we first started out and was the first author we had published. You can catch both of Manna’s book at the links listed above!

♥Manna♥ is a writer from Toronto, Ontario. She is best known for her short work “Ribbon and Leviathan” which showcased her strong tonal writing and established her reputation as an “Ambient Writer”. Focused more on the colour and tone of her work than the contour and form, ♥Manna♥’s work feels more like an emotional experience than a narrative, capturing the movement of feelings rather than the cerebral meaning.

♥Manna♥ was first published under the name “Tybalt Maxwell”, debuting with her story “Steam” in the anthology “Allasso” through Pink Fox Publications. She then was featured in the Weasel Press anthologies “Vagabonds” volumes one and two, and Open Mind volume 1 through Weasel Press and Mind Steady. Her first full length work, “Ribbon and Leviathan”, is published under her real name through Weasel Press.
