The Haunted Traveler is a small lit mag that tries to publish twice a year. Two issues have been released so far and can be read online for free through our website, or a physical copy can be purchased through the Weasel Press store. We accept a wide variety of Horror and Science Fiction, but we do have some preferences. Please note that we do accept werewolf and vampire stories, but we like our monsters to be monsters and not gloomy romantic heroes. Overall we value well written material. The Haunted Traveler is accepting short fiction, short scenes from plays or scripts, and artwork and photography. We are not solely a furry magazine, but we welcome furry submissions. Although we are a non-paying venue we do ensure that a printed copy and a PDF copy is sent out to all contributors upon release and when the funds have been settled. Submission details can be found at our website:
http://systmaticwzl.wix.com/hauntedtraveler
Deadline is April 10, 2015.
Send all submissions through submittable!

Weasel Press is releasing a new Furry anthology called Typewriter Emergencies and it is currently calling for intense psychological dramas in which characters have to overcome some harsh realities. I’m looking for dark and existential fiction focusing around the theme of “These Things Shall Pass/It’s a mad world out there.” There’s a wealth of things that fit but some examples of what I’m looking for in this anthology would be Bullying, Sexuality, domestic violence, drug abuse, poverty/homelessness, anxiety. We’re looking for situations that would cause intense psychological strife. We are looking for stories featuring anthropomorphic animal characters (aka humanized animals) following the theme. Fiction not containing any of the elements we are asking for will not be reviewed.
I suppose you could say there’s a love affair between Weasel Press and the Bukowski’s or Hubert Selby Jr.’s of the world, and that’s essentially what I would like to see in this submission call; furry versions of heavy existential fiction. If you need examples of things to read, feel free to shoot me an email.
Ratings PG-R are accepted. Adult and Sexual themes are allowed, however excessive gore and sex is not. Pretty much, if it’s related or crucial to your story then it is fine. If it has nothing to do with your story then it’s probably not going to be accepted.
Authors accepted into Typewriter Emergencies will be paid a flat rate of $20 for their story and will receive a free copy of the anthology when it is released. Payments will be made through paypal (Weasel Press will pay the fees for using paypal, if any). If another method is needed, it will need to be discussed through email. Multiple submissions are accepted, however it is asked that you keep it under 3 submissions. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but the author is required to inform us if it has been accepted elsewhere.
This is the first “furry” anthology I’m doing. If things go well I hope to do another with a different theme.

Title: Jazz Beats and Deliriums
Author: Kai Neidhardt

Poetry has some frightening powers. Poets often mix words that shoot us into wild madness and inspiration. It is an intoxication that is derived from only words, a state of delirium we are not always familiar with, but are sure we never want to leave it. This book is that madness; the intense fantasies leaving us incoherent and helpless to rapture. Readers are invited to step in with us; let go and get mad with this young author’s creativity. Kai Neidhardt’s words blend furiously to keep each page feverish and frenzied, never allowing us to have expectations of what will be on the next page. It only allows us to remain in the now, focused on the current illusions he wants us to experience. Mr. Neidhardt is definitely an emerging poet to look out for, and one that Weasel Press is ecstatic to have in our community. So, readers, you are invited into an unknown odyssey, in which we are sure you will not want to leave. Some deliriums are too addicting to put down.
Kai was born and raised in California, where he became an activist and musician. He later traveled to Europe and spent his formative years there. At some point he returned to California and started to write poetry. He is inspired by the people he meets and the places he has seen. Weasel Press is his first foray into publication. Some of his influences are: Pablo Neruda, Raymond Carver, Charles Bukowski, Dan Fante, Bob Dylan, and John Keats. Feel free to check out his work at his blog.

Weasel Press would like to welcome our latest author, Chuck Taylor!
Chuck Taylor went to work early, and although it may have inhibited his social skills, the work kept him out of all sorts of trouble, especially as a teenager, innocent and stupid around the ladies. He began mowing lawns and operating a paper route, and then moved on to janitor work and house painting, and later worked as a minor electrician, morgue attendant, lab researcher, cafeteria lineman, dishwasher, daycare worker, part-time records and reference librarian, special collections clerk, bookstore clerk, printer’s assistant, furniture mover, children’s magician, typist, and soft water salesman. Taylor also worked poets-in-the-schools in Galveston, Beaumont, and Victoria, and as a CETA poet-in-residence for Salt Lake City. As a teacher he has taught at the Universities of Texas at Austin, El Paso, and Tyler, as well as at Austin Community College, Angelo State, and for twenty-five years, Texas A&M in College Station and in Koriyama, Japan. He has been married three times and has three ex-step children, three blood children, and seven grandchildren. Taylor has published two novels, two story collections, two memoirs, and numerous volumes of lined verse and prose poetry. His most recent books are Poet and Vampire and Magical, Fantastical, Alphabetical, Soup. It is not surprising that his first novel, briefly considered for a movie, is called Drifter’s Story. He feels his path has been one of stable instability, but he has gotten to know a few places well.
Weasel Press will be working with Chuck to release a new collection of prose poetry titled “Taste, I Say, You’re Timeless”

Reading a couple pieces at an open mic from my upcoming poetry collection The Hell Inside Us, due out this summer!

Wow, busy year! I’ve got two releases coming out from two different publishers. First release I’m excited about is titled, The Hell Inside Us, picked up by Earl of Plaid Press. Originally titled Requiem, this collection is set to focus on hardships, broke-ass blues and LGBT Distrimination. The Hell Inside Us is set for a summer release and is currently in the editing phase.
Next release is picked up by Kool Kids Press, titled Mercy in Eden. It’s a quick novellette about a dude trying to connect with some other dude he met online. Sounds short and sweet, but the traveler is riddled with hallucinations and emotions that never settled in his past. Mercy in Eden is slated for a summer release as well!
Will return with more updates when available.

Front Cover by Carolyn Adams!
The latest issue of Vagabonds: Anthology of the Mad Ones is out now! Read the free PDF online at our website, or purchase physical copies at our online store!
We harbor the mad ones. People who are dedicated to their work to the point that they become misunderstood, or seen as a hot mess of crazy. Our anthology does not seek to break boundaries, we want to break boundaries and go farther. We want the shameless—the deep dark, cigarettes and dirty words combo. Although there is not a set theme of what we’re looking for, we often look at slice of life works. Works featuring the life of the nameless, whether it’s the brighter side or if it’s the pure filth.
This latest edition to our zine is no exception. Readers will be rather surprised with the energy that is brimming throughout the pages of this collection of work. We would like to welcome you to another explosive edition to Vagabonds: Anthology of the Mad Ones!

Kool Kids Press just agreed to take my novella Mercy in Eden. The project follows Izzy, a dude just traveling to the northern part of the U.S. as he tries to see some other dude he met online, because meeting people online is the way to go. Izzy works through crippling mourning and other unknown emotions and hallucinations as throughout his trip, trying to connect with his newfound friend. Simple. Slice of Life. Massive crippling hallucinations of weird shit. That should sum it up rather nicely.
Kool Kids Press are the Kool Kids on the block looking to take the literary game by storm. For too long intelligence has not been considered the cool way to live and get by. They are here to promote and publish the wordsmiths of the future! They publish work online and print chapbooks. They are those cool motherfuckers you see handing out pamphlets from the truck of a car for the real underground art. The new sweet science of literature. Let’s make literature cool.
