Hilarious new #comedy #webseries MILKIN’ IT. You’ve got to see episode 2!

Hey my friends, episode 2 of Milkin’ It went up today! If you thought the first episode was funny, you’re in for a treat. This one’s even more hilarious.

In case you didn’t know, this is my son’s web series, so I’d be eternally grateful for shares and tweets to help him get it out there.

Series summary: New comedy web series, which centers around plaid, pajama wearing actor, Robin Milkin, who’s decided the demanding work of acting gets in the way of sleepy time and video games. So he’s turned his messy bedroom and Mom’s garage into a studio for aspiring actors who’ve heard that taking lessons from the pricey, unorthodox Robin Milkin actually results in booking roles.

Start brushing up on your archery. There’s rumors of a Hunger Games theme park in the works!

HungerGames

Have you been fantasizing about being thrown into a brutal dystopian society, where you’re forced to rely on your wits and squirrel hunting skills in an awful Lord of the Flies type scenario? If so, your fantasy may become a reality. Lionsgate is considering creating a Hunger Games theme park.

Which means you need to get going on your squirrel hunting like Katniss. What? You don’t want to hurt Rocky’s cute little relatives? (Me either.) Or maybe you think bagging small rodents isn’t as impressive as hunting for lions, tigers and bears. Actually, hitting small, speedy targets like squirrels takes lightning quick reflexes and keen accuracy. According to wildlife biologist, Mark Hatfield in an article by Archery360.com, “Squirrel hunting is the best way for any hunter to learn woodsmanship.” And we all need to know what’s what in the woods if we’re going to survive The Hunger Games theme park. Right? So here’s to hoping Lionsgate goes ahead with the proposal. In the meantime, I’m going to start practising my archery, if for no other reason than that drawing a bow will make me look totally kick ass!

What is the most common nightmare? I’m sharing mine.

According to i09′s article, What is the most common nightmare? there are several types of nightmares we all have. Except they don’t actually nail it down to one top nightmare like the title suggests. This is because the study of nightmares seems to be a nebulous subject and researchers can’t arrive at the same results. I had to read the entire article before they told me what I’m telling you.

Despite this dry bit of information, I find dreams to be fascinating and wanted to see if others have had the same hair-raising nightmares I’ve had the displeasure of experiencing. Being chased ranked at 72%. This is an awful one, especially when the chasers are zombies. That’s right, I’ve been being chased by zombies every few years or so since I was sixteen years old. And get this, I watched Naked Vegas last night and this cute young couple wanted a zombie wedding. EW! I know zombies are the big thing right now, but please. For your wedding? And to make it worse, they were naked zombies! That’s a wedding I’m so glad I wasn’t at.

Okay enough ranting. Back to nightmares. Falling ranked 53%. Now there’s another scary one. Here’s my falling dream. Did you see Transformers 3? Remember when that massive transformer tore through the middle of a skyscraper and the top half teetered over slowly and desks, chairs and coffee mugs slid past Shia, crashed through the windows and fell to the street far below? That’s mine. Oh how I hate that nightmare. There’s no transformer, just the wind tilting the building back and forth. First it’s just a little, until the rocking gets so extreme, the furniture is sliding and slamming into walls. Then it happens, the whole building just goes over. I’m grabbing onto whatever’s nailed down as couches and tables whip past, smash through the glass and fall, fall, fall. Of course that’s when I wake up in a cold sweat.

Proud Mom here. Check out my son’s new comedy web series, MILKIN’ IT!

I’m so excited to announce my son’s new web series, Milkin’ It and the release of his first episode!

This comedy web series centers around plaid, pajama wearing actor, Robin Milkin, who’s decided the demanding work of acting gets in the way of sleepy time and video games. So he’s turned his messy bedroom and Mom’s garage into a studio for aspiring actors who’ve heard that taking lessons from the pricey, unorthodox Robin Milkin actually results in booking roles.

The series is written and edited by my son, Tyler Mitchell, who also plays Robin Milkin. For some good laughs, watch the first episode, “Step Into my Office.” There are five more episodes to come and I’ll be sure to let you all know as each one comes out.

It wouldn’t be Halloween without ghosts. Check out my top 10 favorite ghouls!

There’s nothing better than a really good ghost story or movie to give you the willies and have you pulling the covers up over your head. Like that’s going to keep a ghost out. Pfff, they pass through walls, people.

In celebration of Halloween and the spooky spectres that’ve chilled me to the bone at one time or another, I’ve listed my favorite scary ghost movies with #1 being the most terrifying and all the way to #10 for good ghosty fun. Call me a glutton for punishment, but I’m in the mood to watch one of them tonight and be scared all over again. Hmm, which one will it be?

Happy Halloween everyone!

#1: Samara Morgan from The Ring (This one had nervous for seven days. I mean come on, I watched the stupid cursed video too!)

#2: Kayako Saeki from The Grudge (When this movie was being constantly advertised, I got to where just the trailer freaked me out. Remember that creepy spider crawl down the stairs? Ew! What is it about long straggly black hair?)

#3: Freddy Kruger from A Nightmare on Elm Street (I was scared to go to sleep!)

#4: The Grady twins from The Shining (Sorry, but those girls gave me the wiggins.)

#5: Reverend Henry Kane from Poltergeist (Yeah I know, he was just some tired looking old guy, but he was spooky!)

#6: Eva Galli from Ghost Story (Creeeeepy!)

#7: Tom Hill from The Awakening (I had a lot of ambivalence with Tom. He was likeable but super spooky.)

#8: Dr. Malcolm Crowe from The Sixth Sense (Okay, he wasn’t scary, but it was super disturbing to find out he was the ghost.)

#9: The Soul Collector from The Frighteners (Gave me a few jumps but mostly laughs)

#10: Slimer from The Ghostbusters (What can I say, he’s my kind of ghost)

Here’s Watch Mojo’s top 10. We agree on a few of them.

Halloween countdown spooky discovery #3

warm-bodies-3

I was sixteen the first time I saw a zombie movie and it freaked me out so much I had nightmares. This concept of the dead coming back to life all decayed and wormy completely infected me with a deep-seated fear. In fact, I still have the occasional zombie nightmare. Has this kept me from watching zombie movies all these years? Hell no. I don’t know what it is about those foot-dragging, moaning, gray-skinned cadavers, but they keep pulling me back in. Although I’ll mostly only watch the ones that spoof the undead.

But now after watching Warm Bodies last night, I have to say it’s become my all time favorite zombie movie next to Shaun of the Dead and Death Becomes Her. I never thought in a million years I’d find a zombie lovable, but R won my heart. Think of Romeo & Juliet meets The Walking Dead, and you have Warm Bodies. At first this unlikely romance was super uncomfortable for me, but then became so surprisingly touching I’m still feeling the warm and fuzzies. This is a must see for anyone who wants a great feel-good spooky movie to watch on Halloween. Unless of course you want to be scared out of your wits, then you should watch 28 Days Later.

Halloween countdown spooky discovery #2

Special effects makeup artist, Rick Baker, created the ultimate Frankenstein’s monster, by piecing the legendary the creature together steampunk style. If you think about it, this is closer to how the monster should’ve looked, given that steampunk is an inherit part of Mary Shelley’s original story.

SteampunkFrankenstein

I’d love to have the talented Rick Baker around to help me out with some killer makeup for Halloween, but we’ll have to settle for watching him transform himself into a scary monster with only makeup.

Halloween countdown spooky discovery #1

Ever since A Nightmare Before Christmas, Halloween just isn’t halloweeny without some Tim Burtonesque style touches. In my search for such spindly, curlicue creepyish type things, I discovered Alexander Jansson’s work. This talented artist has a wonderfully whimsical way of weaving humor into his dark, moody portraits.

He also does animation. I really enjoyed this one about the wondrous world of Ramone Bosco. In this animated short, Jansson brings his illustrations to life and takes you on a dreamy, surrealistic tour, not unlike the acid trip scene from Across The Universe.
