Blog Tour: Disclosure of the Heart (Beside Your Heart #2) by Mary Whitney

Disclosure of the Heart is book 2 and follows on from Beside Your Heart with the story of Adam and Nicki who are now adults that realize the value of being with the one you love. It is a really sweet read, that brings a lovely conclusion to this couples story.

Title: Disclosure of the Heart (Beside Your Heart #2)Author: Mary WhitneyGenre: Contemporary RomancePublication Date: November 5, 2013Publisher: OmniFic PublishingEvent organized by: Literati Author Services, Inc.

If I had to describe Disclosure of the Heart in a few words I would say it is a sweet love story. The connection between Adam and Nicki has withstood the test of time. The two are challenged by their work circumstances and their existing relationships but it is abundantly clear that the love that they shared as teenagers has not waned.
This was a very easy read: there was no earth shattering drama, I even thought the way the existing relationships were handled was quite tactful. Of course being the Press Secretary for the newly elected President meant that Nicki was ever conscious of scandal that could have consequences for the White House. This meant that actions were measured and carefully thought through. While some would argue this meant there was none of the spontaneous intensity of a good romance, I thought it built the romantic tension between Adam and Nicki really well.
Other characters from the first book make a return, most notably David, Adam’s cousin who has not lost any of his outrageously flirty style. The story moved at a pace that was engaging and Whitney has a really lovely writing style. I was lost in the story as I read and felt satisfied with how things finished. If you have read Beside Your Heart you should definitely pick up Disclosure of the Heart .

Blog Tour: Still Human by Kerry Heavens

Today we get to share with you Still Human by Kerry Heavens - book #2 in the Just Human series.

Title: Still HumanAuthor: Kerry HeavensRelease Date: October 22, 2013Blog Tour Hosted by: Romance Addict Book Blog

Danny loves Liv. He knows he loves her more than she loves him because she ran without a word when she saw their future mapped out before her. He knows he will never love anyone like he loved her and this time he doesn’t think he can move on.
Liv loves Danny. She knows she loves him more than he loves her because he broke her heart in the worst possible way, right when things were falling into place. She knows she will never love anyone like she loves him and this time she doesn’t think she can move on.
They needed a second chance because they just weren’t ready for their first, but when events changed everything between them, they discovered they were just human after all. Now Liv and Danny have to find a way to survive being hurt by each other.
They doubted, they underestimated and they did believe the worst, but only because they were too young the first time and too vulnerable the second time. But now they have changed and if they are not the same, surely things can only turn out differently?

His fingers slide into my underwear and I groan again, another strangled sound which takes me by surprise. My whole body aches for him, but he misses out the place I want him most. I try to move to guide his fingers, but this just makes him move further away.
He pulls his lips away from my nipple and I gasp. I beg him to take me, but he laughs. His gaze falls over something behind me and I turn to see what has taken his attention from me. But my body lets me down, I can't turn. I can only lie flat and the ache I thought I felt for Danny now feels like a physical pain, restricting my body. A woman appears beside me, it’s her…Brooke.
“Look at me,” I beg him. “I need you.” Tears sting my eyes.
They both laugh at this. With his hand still circling inside my underwear he begins to kiss her. I watch helplessly, sobbing and pleading with him to love me. I cry out as he finally pulls his hand away from me and turns it to her. My pained cry jars me and my tears have made my head hurt. I’m shaking from the violent sobs wracking my body.
Danny reclines beside me and watches her as she slowly pulls her hair out of its pins and shakes it loose. I beg him not to watch but he ignores me. She unzips her tight black dress and lets it fall to her feet. I try to turn away, I can’t watch. But my strange immobility keeps me flat on my back. Danny encourages her to come to him and I plead with him to stop this, but it’s too late as she climbs over him. I sob and sob until I wake with a start.
It was a dream, but the tears were real. My head is heavy from crying so hard and my body aches. I want to curl up in a ball, but I can’t turn over. Real or not, what I’ve just witnessed is so cruel that the emotional pain physically hurts as I succumb to it. I weep for a long time; short, stuttered breaths plague me even once the tears have dried. I lie awake on my damp pillow, staring at nothing, fearful of closing my eyes again.

Blog Tour: Running in Place by L.B. Simmons
Welcome to our stop on the blog tour for Running in Place
by the fabulous L.B. Simmons.
Running in Place is book #2 in the Mending Hearts Series and can be read as a stand-alone.

Book Title: Running in Place (Mending Hearts Book #2)Author: L.B. SimmonsHosted by: Brandee's Book Endings

Some call me a party girl. People see me as happy, full of life, with absolutely no cares in the world. They see what I want them to see. But no one knows me - really knows me. Not even Noah Reese. Mr. Perfect is always watching me, most likely judging every single imperfect thing I do. But, if Noah wants to keep an eye on me, that’s just fine. I definitely don’t mind. I just hope he doesn’t have any plans to save me from my new-found life of self-destruction because in order to save me, he will have to see me…
And I’m never going to let that happen.
Noah Reese:
Perfect. That’s me. That’s the only acceptable way to be, according to my father. Perfect grades. Perfect manners. Perfect athlete. Perfect SAT scores. Perfect college. And recently, I was accepted into the perfect med school. My future has already been mapped out for me and there’s nothing that can change that. Not even Tatum O’Connell. That girl is out of control, yet for some reason, I can’t seem to keep my distance from her. I watch her closely, hoping that one day she’ll let me in, but watching her lead her life down the dangerous path she’s on right now isn’t easy…
I have a feeling I’m about to find myself swept away by the hurricane that is Tatum O’Connell.
“Two fleeting souls, Unknowingly tethered. Too slowly drawn, Impatient fate calls. The jolting collide intertwines their lives And splinters their walls.”
“Catalyst” – Noah Reese

I know that I'm not going to give this book justice in my review. It's not possible and I haven't been able to form coherent wording every time I've tried. Please bear with me...
Tatum has been through a lot and because of this, she faces demons every day of her life. She's wild, afraid of facing her past but desperate to be loved, she just hasn't realized it yet.
Noah is 'the' guy. The guy we all wish we'd met first. He's hot as sin, loyal to a fault, compassionate and has eyes for Tatum and Tatum only but has his own demons to overcome.
While reading this book I was faced with several different emotions all at once. Several that actually hit close to home. I laughed and I cried and then I cried some more. How is it that L.b could capture so much vulnerability and rawness into Tatum's character as thoroughly and honestly as she did? It was real and true and I felt every bit of it.
This book is about finding yourself and being loved for your faults and all. Being able to deal with your past and learning to let go and most importantly loving unconditionally.
I'm a fan of L.b's and read everything that she writes. There's always been an honest quality to her writing that seeps into each and every page which is what makes her a superb writer. Grab it, read it and love it. It's a no brainer!
5 Fabulous stars!

They may strike quickly, with little or no warning.
Situated just outside of Oklahoma City, Calumet County is divided into two drastically different communities: Hope’s Grove and Summit Bluffs. One is the small backward town where dirt roads lead the way to field parties and railroad tracks. And the other, a sprawling suburb where paved drives lead to the landscaped lawns of the wealthy and privileged.
For five teenagers smack in the middle of Tornado Alley, summer is heating up fast. The winds of change are blurring the invisible line that divides the rich and the rural.
One has a secret.
One has a crush.
One has been lying.
One will get caught.
And one might not make it out alive.
They’re from two different worlds…but one summer is about to change everything.

Whether you believe in destiny, divine intervention, or just plain ol' dumb luck, several things happened in 2013 that caused E. Lee and C. Quinn's paths to cross. It may have been that the stars aligned perfectly, or the fact anytime Luke Bryan was mentioned on a social media site both of them were tagged, or maybe it was just that their small town roots and country girl attitudes were magnetically drawn together—calling out to one another, “Y'all should write a book!” Despite geography keeping them apart—Lee in Illinois and Quinn in Alabama—they did. Thanks to three-hour phone calls, ridiculous amounts of online chats, and umpteen Google Docs—Storm Warning is the first book in their edgy new Young Adult series, Broken Heartland.

Interesting Facts about the Peachville High Demons series
By Sarra Cannon When I first started writing Beautiful Demons, the killer was someone completely different. When I got to the end, I gasped in surprise. I seriously had no idea who had killed Tori until the very end of the book.I didn't have the series planned out at all. Every time I finished one book, I would start thinking about the next. It's really cool how some details, like the blue butterfly and Harper's demon tattoo, came to mean something really special in the end.Demons Forever took me eleven months to write, but that book will always have a special place in my heart because it was the book I was writing when I had my son, Andrew. The inspiration for this series actually came from a marathon session of watching the TV show, Veronica Mars. My original idea was to write a series about a young girl who solved murders and mysteries in her town using magic. If you've read the series, you know that's not at all how the series really turned out!One of the major themes in this series is TRUST. Just when Harper thinks she knows who she can trust, she finds out she's been betrayed. There are 6 parties/dances in the series and something terrible happens at every single one. I think Harper should just stay away from all parties in the future!A second series based on this world will start in Spring 2014 and will be told from both Harper and Lea's points-of-view.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTThe next book in the Peachville High Demon series is a novella all about Jackson! This novella is scheduled to release November 4th!

The Understorey was one of my very first indie books (it was free too) and I fell in love with Fisher Amelie's writing style and the gorgeous characters she created.
Then came Callum and Harper, followed by Thomas and January and now the Seven Deadly Series. I have loved every one of these books and cannot wait for the next 5, that's right FIVE! books in the Seven Deadly series.
But for now, the spotlight is on Greed ...

Book 2 in the Seven Deadly Series

My story will not endear me to you and, frankly, I could care less if it does because I’m in this for the money and nothing else. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a corrupt, money hungry, immoral asshole from Los Angeles. I’m every man’s worst nightmare and every girl’s fantasy.
I’m Spencer Blackwell...And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most coveted guy to the guy no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Greed is a strange, strange sin.
All you want to do is acquire. Acquire money, acquire material, acquire time, acquire energy, acquire attention. The running mantra is “I want, I want, I want” but that quickly turns to “I need, I need, I need.” Suddenly there just isn’t enough time for friends, for family, for anyone. Your goal is to acquire and to make sure what you acquire stays acquired. Your life depends on it. You don’t see truth because the truth is shadowed by enormous homes, incredibly fast cars, in lavish spending. Your life no longer belongs to you, but you are blind to it all because those around you are seeking the same.
So you shuffle along at an impossible rate, and you pass the real world around you.
But what you’ll come to realize, altogether too late, is that it’s never enough. It’s simply never enough.
Chapter One
“It’s confirmed. Peter Knight of Evergreen won’t approve the acquisition. You know what to do,” my snake of a father told me, not two steps into his front door.
“I just got off a seven-hour flight. You can’t let me settle in? Possibly say hello?”
He stood, watching me, a slight tick in his square jaw. He tucked his hands into his Italian silk pants. His six-foot frame followed the steps up to the foyer and stopped a few inches away from my own. We were face to face. Although I fell an inch shorter, he no longer intimidated me. I knew if I had to, I could kick his ass.
“Hello, Spencer,” he said, a serpent’s smile spread wide across his mouth before falling flat. “Get to work. I don’t pay you to sit around. I don’t care if it is your Christmas break.”
We stayed where we were, each waiting on the other to back down. The tension was palpable. In the end, his face relaxed and he began to chuckle, stepping aside and making way for me. I picked up my bags and headed for my room, giving myself plenty of space to pass him without touching him. When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I changed my mind and threw my bags on the second to last step, intending to pick them up later. I stretched my muscles, loving the feel of my back popping, and started for the kitchen.
“Where the hell do you think you’re going?” he asked, still standing in the foyer, watching my every move.
“If I don’t say hi to Mom and Bridge, they’ll think something’s up,” I told him and continued on.
He didn’t respond, but I felt his stare burning into the back of my head.

I am thrilled to say that Fisher Amelie did not disappoint me with Greed . It is a beautifully written, captivating and emotionally intense story.
We first met Spencer Blackwell in Vain. The ridiculously rich, rich boy who was hopelessly in love with Sophie Price. I was actually a big fan of Spencer then - despite his wealthy obnoxiousness, he was a good and true friend to Sophie . In Greed we learn so much more about Spencer and there are quite a few bits that are not that nice to know. Despite his obsession with money I felt there was an inherent goodness to Spencer - his conscience battled with the things his father asked of him and ultimately he made some very difficult choices with the primary intent of protecting others.
Through a series of circumstances Spencer meets Cricket Hunt and is absolutely captivated by her. The story is told from Spencer’s point of view and I loved the way Spencer observed Cricket and the way he talked to the reader during certain parts of the story. The relationship that develops between Spencer and Cricket was beautiful to watch unfold. Complicated by the fact that Cricket had a boyfriend and Spencer was determined not to bring his past into the lives of the people helping him and his sister, they both battled with their feelings, trying to deny what was growing between them.
There were a couple of events that absolutely devastated me in Greed . At one point I had to stop reading, because I couldn’t believe what had happened, nor see how the story could possibly be heading in the direction that it was. It’s a true testament to Fisher Amelie’s writing ability that she could throw such a convincing twist into the story.
Greed is a quick read. I loved the messages woven through the story and watching Spencer ‘evolve’ (for want of a better word). At the start of the story he was a ridiculously rich young man, planning to accumulate a multi-million dollar personal wealth through means that were entirely dishonourable and by the end he had become an incredibly selfless, down to earth man who made multiple sacrifices for the people he loved. The love story that runs along side this is also a delight, moving at a realistic pace with a fabulous build up of tension between Spencer and Cricket.
There are some wonderful characters in Greed including Spencer's sister Bridge, Jonah, Ellie and Emmett, and I also loved the descriptions of Montana and the cattle ranch which is the primary location for the bulk of the story.
You don’t need to read Vain before you read Greed - but I would encourage you to read them both, and why not start with Vain so you get an early introduction to Spencer?! All of Fisher Amelie’s books are on my re-read pile and Greed is definitely joining them.
5 out of 5 stars

CHAPTER ONE
She walks into Yogurtland with her cell phone pressed to her ear and a scowl on her face. Behind the scowl, her vulnerability shines like a fucking nuclear explosion in a dark closet. Whoever she’s talking to has stripped her bare. I find myself wishing it were me who affected her that way.
She’s digging inside her purse while balancing the phone between her shoulder and her ear; probably searching for money to get her frozen yogurt fix. What is it about frozen yogurt that makes us feel better? Maybe it reminds us of being kids, and how something as simple as a trip to the yogurt shop could turn a bad day into a great one. Whatever it is, I can see that she desperately needs some frozen yogurt. But with each passing moment that she’s unable to locate her money, I see the hope draining from her face.
“I told you to stop calling me. I don’t care if your car is in the shop. I’m not picking you up!”
She drops her purse and cell phone onto the checkered tile floor and curses loudly. “What the fuck are you staring at?!” she barks at the man who’s ogling her ass while ushering his small child out of the shop. “You’ve never seen a girl in a skirt bend over?”
She falls to her knees as she reaches for the cell phone first. She presses it to her ear and says hello a few times before she realizes there’s no one there. I walk over to her, coolly taking my time, then I kneel next to her and reach for the lipstick tube that rolled behind her left foot. I hold it out in front of her. She looks sideways at me and her mouth drops as she’s stunned into silence. Most girls are stunned when they see me. I’m used to that. But Senia has seen me plenty of times. She’s not amazed by my good looks. She’s stupefied by my impeccable timing.
Her gaze immediately falls to my lips, which are just inches from her own. Then she begins to sob as she throws her arms around my neck.
I can’t help but chuckle. “Hey, it’s okay,” I whisper into her ear as I breathe in her scent. She smells like strawberries or pineapple. Something fruity. It’s intoxicating.
I reach up and grab her face to pull her away, so I can look her in the eye. “What flavor do you want?”
A tear rolls down her face and I wipe it away as she stares at me, still dumbfounded. “Cheesecake, with strawberries.”
“Perfect.”
I help her gather the rest of her belongings into her purse then I order her yogurt as she watches me from where she stands next to the trash bin. She watches me as I approach her with her bowl of frozen yogurt, one of her perfect eyebrows cocked skeptically.
“Don’t look at me like that,” I say as I pass her the bowl of yogurt.
“Why?” she says as she pops the first spoon of creamy yogurt into her mouth.
She licks the spoon clean and I find myself wondering what it would feel like to have those full, red lips wrapped around my cock. I lean in and whisper in her ear, “Because you’re turning me on and I can’t fuck you in Yogurtland.”
She continues to cock her eyebrow as she takes another spoonful of yogurt into her mouth. “Then maybe we should get the fuck out of Yogurtland.”
*****
In the three years I’ve known Senia, we’ve almost fucked three times. The first time happened the day I met her, after a show we played in Durham. We were interrupted backstage by Xander, the band’s manager, just as Senia was about to get on her knees. The second time was at a Memorial Day picnic. We were both pretty shitfaced and she ended up tossing her cookies all over me as I was sliding her panties off. The third time happened less than three months ago, in a pub restroom stall. She started crying and couldn’t go through with it; she was too heartbroken over her ex. I think the fourth time may be the charm for us. For some reason, this makes me really fucking nervous.
I’m not afraid I won’t be able to satisfy her. There’s no doubt I’ll make her come harder than she’s ever come before. But for the first time in my life, I’m afraid of what will come after the sex.
Senia is Claire’s best friend. Even if Claire and Chris never get back together, I know she’ll always be around. Chris is my best friend. I can’t avoid Claire and, therefore, I can’t avoid Senia. Something about this terrifies me and intrigues me; like I’m flirting with danger or, more accurately, fucking with danger.
I grab the door handle on the passenger side of my silver Audi and pause as I look her in the eye and pull the door open. “Get in.”
She smiles and shakes her head as she slinks into the passenger seat. “Please don’t bother using your manners.”
“I won’t.”
I slam the door shut and walk around to the driver’s side, tapping the trunk as I note my surroundings. It’s eight in the evening. There are only three other cars in the parking lot and at least one of those belongs to the guy working behind the counter in Yogurtland. I look up at the lamppost in front of the car illuminating the hood and shining through the windshield.
I open the door and slide into the driver’s seat. Gazing into her eyes, for a moment I’m reminded of the last time my mom took me to get ice cream, when I was nine years old. I clench my jaw against the visceral nature of this memory and Senia takes this as an invitation.
She climbs into my lap and takes my face in her hands as she crushes her lips to mine. I thread my fingers into her hair and roughly grab a fistful of her dark locks. She whimpers as I thrust my tongue into her mouth and squeeze my fist around her hair, intermittently tightening my grip then easing up. Finally, I pull her head back by her hair and her eyes widen with shock and excitement. That’s when I notice her styrofoam bowl of yogurt upended between us, the cold stickiness seeping through both of our shirts.
She smiles as she swipes her finger through the cool, sticky substance and slowly eases her finger in her mouth. “Creamy,” she purrs.
“Fuck,” I whisper as my dick jumps, trying to escape my jeans.
I grab the bowl and toss it into the backseat and she smiles as I swipe my finger through the yogurt and reach under her skirt. Her thighs are smooth and warm against the back of my fingers as I move straight for her panties. She holds my gaze as I slip my fingers under the fabric and find her clit. She swallows hard as her smile melts into a look of pure ecstasy.
“Oh, my God,” she breathes as I stroke her gently.
I grab the back of her neck and pull her mouth against mine, swallowing her moans as if they were the air keeping me alive. I shove two fingers inside her and she gasps as I curve my fingers to reach her spot. Her body curls into me as I lick the soft skin below her earlobe. Abruptly, I remove my hand from her panties. Her face is incredulous as I lift her up by her waist and place her on the passenger seat.
“Get in the back.”
For a moment, it seems as if she’s questioning this abrupt request. “This better be good,” she says as she slithers between the two front seats to get into the backseat.
I reach under her skirt as she crawls into the back and I yank down on her panties. “Jesus Christ, Tristan!”
“Make up your mind,” I say as I place my hand on her ass and push her into the backseat. “Am I Jesus Christ or Tristan?”
She laughs as I scramble into the backseat after her, holding onto her panties so she’s forced to leave them behind. I quickly position myself between her legs as she lies on her back and smiles. “You can be whoever the fuck you want.”
I slide my arm under her waist and lift her up so I can place her back against the passenger side window. Pushing her skirt up, I spread her legs wide open and marvel at the sight of her. She perfectly shaved with a small landing strip of dark hair that ends at the top of her slit.
“I prefer Tristan,” I say as I flash her my crowd smile.
She whimpers like a kitten in pain, her hips writhing against me as I devour her slowly and methodically. She tastes like the frozen yogurt I smeared all over her.
“Oh, Tristan,” she moans and I hook my arms tightly around her thighs to steady her as her legs begins to tremble. “Oh, my fucking God!”
I suck gently as her clit pulsates against my tongue. She lets out a loud cry that sounds like a sigh mixed with a scream. I can’t help but smile as I continue to stimulate her until she grabs chunks of my hair and yanks me up.
“Holy shit,” she breathes as she wraps her arms around my neck and pulls me on top of her.
But she doesn’t kiss me. She just holds me there and I quickly begin to feel uncomfortable with this closeness. I begin to push away, but she tightens her grip.
“Please don’t move,” she begs, and I can hear something strange in her voice—she’s crying.
I lie still with her for a while until I no longer hear her sniffling. I slowly pull my head back to look her in the face and she quickly wipes at the moisture on her cheeks.
“I’m sorry,” she whispers.
I grab her hand and pull it away from her face. “It’s okay,” I murmur as I brush my thumb over her cheekbone.
“No, it’s not,” she says, a hard edge to her voice as her hands reach down to undo the button and zipper on my jeans. “But it will be.”
She pushes my boxers down until my dick springs free and I suck in a sharp breath as it comes in contact with her.
“I don’t have a condom.”
My shoulder-length hair hangs around my face as I hover over her. She reaches up and pushes my hair back as she pulls my mouth to hers. I groan as I try to resist making such a stupid mistake. Despite the rumors, I don’t have unprotected sex. I may be a whore like my mother, but I’m not as reckless as she is.
I try to pull my face back, but Senia holds my head still. Suddenly, I’m royally pissed off. I rip my head out of her grasp and glare at her.
“This is just a fuck. Nothing more,” I insist and her eyebrows scrunch together. A sharp pang of regret twists inside my chest. “I’m sorry.”
Why the fuck am I apologizing?
“Then shut up and fuck me,” she says as she tightens her legs around my hips and the tip of my cock presses against her opening.
I slide in slowly, watching as she closes her eyes and tilts her head back. Leaning forward, I suck on her throat as I gradually ease myself further inside her with each stroke.
“You’re tight as fuck,” I whisper as I carefully work my way deeper inside.
She doesn’t respond, so I keep thrusting, slowly at first then working my way up to a steady pace. I pull my head back to see her face and her eyes are still closed. I don’t know why, but I want to see her eyes.
“Look at me,” I command, and she opens her eyes instantly, her gaze finding mine.
Her eyes are slightly red and that’s when I notice the tear tracks running from the corners of her eyes, down her temple, and disappearing into her dark hair. A strange urge overcomes me and I lean down and kiss her temple. Licking my lips, the saltiness of her tears turn me on even more. I ease my hand behind her knee and lift her leg higher so I can thrust deeper.
She whimpers as she threads her fingers through my hair and pulls my mouth to hers. I kiss her slowly, matching the rhythm of my hips to the movement of our tongues. She bites my top lip and I feel myself getting so close to blowing my load.
“Holy shit,” I whisper as I try to pull my head back, but she holds my head still and kisses me deeply as I let go inside her.
My dick twitches as I fill her with my gushing warmth. I grunt into her mouth and she continues to kiss me, swallowing my cries the way I did hers. Finally, I tilt my head back and look her in the eye. Then I ask her a question I haven’t asked anyone since I broke up with Ashley four years ago.
