After graduating from the University of South Alabama, Scarlett Moore discovers her boyfriend of five months is actually married with a child on the way. Decent debut novel! Ok so after Scarlett learns a secret about her boyfriend she bails from Alabama and heads to Georgia to live with her friend Jules. They go out to the club one night and are dancing and low and behold she sees sexy Kade Evans, singer of Perfectly Damaged. He apparently likes the way she shakes her booty and gets on the dance floor with her where they proceed to dry hump and get all hot and heavy.
She then meets him again Monday morning when she learns she is assigned to him as her job. Their relationship develops as they spend time together and get to know each other and eventually get then they get hot and heavy...
The relationship progresses while Scarlett also decides what Kade has some sort of secret which she believes he may still be on drugs. This turns into a problem since its her job to report whether or not he stays clean.
There are a few twists and turns I wasn't expecting and the book ends with a cliffhanger.

5 Jumping Up and Down Stars
Glory Glory Hallelujah. What an awesome book. I mean awesome as in...you have written 47 books and you finally wrote a good one EXCEPT this is Ms LaRocca's first book. So this is me.....
Scarlett is having a bad day. She just found out her boyfriend, Trey is married and expecting a baby. Yep...all the ingredients for a bad day right there.
I didn't intend to look at his phone.
Well you did sister and now what are you going to do? Scarlett decides to move to Atlanta and start a new life with a new job and her old best friend, Jules.
She now has a great job with an entertainment insurance company. Jules takes her to a club opening and there she dances with a super HAWT guy and has feelings that have been asleep for a while. The guy then disappears in the fog. Ok. I made the fog part up. But they dance and then he disappears. Until the next day when he turns out to be her NEW CLIENT. You knew that was going to happen.
Kade Evans is a Rock God with lots of Google hits and string of bedded beauties behind him. When Scarlett is assigned to be his babysitter for next few weeks you just know that good things are going to happen. And they do! Scarlett tries to be all professional and not screw his brains out. But come on folks...he's a tattooed rock god. Resistance is futile.
What was it with guys and doors? Was there a guy handbook that told them that girls were helpless pressed up against a door?
Kade is romantic, sweet, and totally enamoured with Scarlett.

Let's just take a minute to sigh right here please. *sigh* Ok..moving on.....
There must be a problem. Yeah there's a big one. Or actually several. There are suit wearing bad guys, possible drug use, skanky co-workers, mysterious phone calls, and super hot lovin'. Oh wait...that last one is not a problem. Put that in the PRO column. Along with picnics and serenades.
Ms LaRocca has created a new genre. But I can't tell you what it is. It is the Rocker/______ Genre. I can't fill in the blank without a major spoiler. Just trust me on this. I am super excited (can you tell) to recommend this book to you. The last paragraph before the epilogue is a OMG...HOLY SHIT...WHAT JUST HAPPENED moment. And it is not the only one of those moments in this read. This is book one in the series that can not have book 2 come fast enough. No ending in sight here folks. Just a few months of wishing you had read slower before the second books comes out.
Just read the book and then take the time to tell me how right I am. You can thank Ms LaRocca and me later. I take Amazon gift cards and wine.

Wow!
WOW!!! What the fuck did I just read???
Lifeless is a shocker for sure! After reading the blurb for this book, I knew I NEEDED to read it. Not only for the mention of a Rock Star, but also because any good book (my fucked up opinion) has a secret. I'm a sucker for them.
Scarlett has recently discovered her boyfriend is not only married, but is also expecting his first child with his wife. Yeah, can we say FUCKTARD!!! Due to heartbreak and the lack of anything keeping her in her place, she decides to move to Atlanta to be with her best friend, Jules. Let me pause for a minute and just say that I love this Jules character. This chick is a one of a kind BFF material. OK, back to Scarlett; 5 months have passed since her breakup and Jules wants to take her out for a night in a new club. Approached by none other than sex-on-a-stick personified, Scarlett has a brazen moment of practical dry-humpage on the dance floor. Their moment may be the cause of damp panties, or in my case, the complete removal of them. Talk about a dirrrty sexual fantasy! HAWWWTTT!!! This meeting with mystery-man is cut short and leaves Scarlett a little hmmumm...bothered...if you catch my drift.
Fast forward to Monday morning at work and Scarlett is blindsided by mystery man from the club, the one and only Kade Evans- Rock Star/Actor Extraordinaire. Oh, did I mention that he's her new client? Can we say TENSION? Of the sexual nature! HA!!! This is fucking BRILLIANT!
So, you all know that there's gonna be some sex in this book right? OH MY GOD!!! is it fucking fuck worthy sex too.

Jesus! This book is full of angst and emotion and pain. Kade is holding something big from Scarlett. Secrets, secrets and more secrets......boy is this a ride! And it's full of bumps and curves along the way, but so much fun.
Please note: THIS IS A FUCKING CLIFFHANGER!!! But, the author has posted on plenty of public pages that she is already working on the second book and will not hold out on us too long. All I can say, is THANK FUCKING GOD!
I give this book 7 stars! For not only shocking the hell out of me with the ending, but also because who doesn't like a good, hard, dirrrty sex scene thrown in with some emotional passioin?!?!!!?!?!

Cannot believe this is the authors first work - it is well written, the flow is flawless.
The book doesn't jump straight in with "sex" and there is a getting to know you period. I loved the characters, well most of them and just wanted to carry on read.
Well done JM LaRocca!!! Hurry up with book 2 please.

I was so not expecting that!
I went info Lifeless not knowing anything about it. Judging by the cover, it seemed like a thriller to me. I don't know why but the cover girl looks freaky. Freaky as in scary. Ha
Anyways, I went into the book clueless. I was pleasantly surprised with the opening scene, it was nicely done. There we meet Scarlett and her boyfriend Trey, who just so happens to be married with a baby on the way. Gah, what a tool! Fast forward five months--Scarlett has moved in with her best friend, Jules, to start a new life in Atlanta working as an entertainment insurance agent.
Here is where it gets really good! Scarlett and Jules go out to an opening of a club. While they are dancing, a sexy man starts dancing with Scarlett. She comes to find out that it's none other than Kade Evans, lead singer of the popular band Perfectly Damaged.
Can I hear a hallelujah?
My love for rock star romances is unhealthy. The first one I loved and still love is Kellan Kyle from Thoughtless. Mind you, this book has nothing in common with Thoughtless. I just love Kellan and the D-Bags.
I pretty much loved Kade from the moment he walked into the picture. Of course this is my unhealthy love for a rock star again, I stood no chance. He is extremely sexy, with an adorable grin that would make any lady weak in the knees.
Lifeless is full of romance, mystery, and a lot of sexual tension. A lot! By the end of the book my mouth was left hanging open! Be prepared for a book unlike any other. It's not your typical NA storyline.
Great plot with even better characters, Lifeless will leave you wanting more. Book 2 comes out sometime this year? Not sure! But if you haven't yet read this book, I highly recommend you go and get it.

I liked it, but then I didn't. I barely tolerated the characters... This book screamed "teapot calling the kettle black"..
So our heroine finds the guy she lost her V card to is actually married and has been all this time.. So what does she do? She dumps him and moves to Atlanta with her bff.
In ATL she meets rocker rocker turned TV star, while she is preaching to the world about good morals and how you don't mix business with pleasure she is spreading it for him.. She was too all over the place for me. Sorry, too much of a hypocrite!

Oh dear sweet baby Jesus where do I begin? Um I could begin with this was one seriously kick ass book, or I could begin with WTF did JM give us to read and why did she wait so long to give it to us, or I could even just begin from the very beginning because this is defiantly a book yall don’t want to miss. So here goes nothin’.
Let me start with the characters. Okay so we have Scarlett, sweet, cute, and shy Scarlett. She is a character you can’t help but like because she is sweet to the very core but when she gets all riled up she lets her inner bitch come out and it is so much fun to read. Scarlett didn’t have the best childhood growing up and after leaving Alabama to move in with her best friend Jules in Atlanta her life changes some for the good some for the not so good but changes none the less.
Kade, holy wet panties there is a God and he created us some Kade! Troubled rock n’ roll bad boy finds himself in Atlanta to show the world his acting ability by staring in a movie and with any troubled rock star/movie star the director needs insurance and they call on Atlanta Entertainment to provide that Insurance just in case Kade can’t keep himself clean during filming.
Scarlett meet Kade. Kade meet Scarlett…..

Kade is mysterious and sexy. Not only a rock star but movie star who knows how to work it. He is sex personified and I want to lick every inch of him. Kade left me with my tongue hanging out and goose bumps all over my skin. He is your very own troubled bad boy that you want to tame and fix and keep him chained up to your bed to have fun with whenever you want. He is a great lover always making sure to give Scarlett exactly what she wants and when she wants it.
“Please, Kade, I need…” I panted.
“What do you need, Scarlett? Tell me.” He licked up my folds and flicked my clit with his tongue, but moved away before I could grind in his face again.

I love when I read stories that seem to be going exactly how I think they should and then the author throws in a whopper and completely takes me off guard. JM puts it all in Lifeless. WE have the sweet shy and innocent Scarlett that you will cheer for the entire story, you have the bad boy rocker/actor who you want to lick every square inch of, you have the passion the steamy raw chemistry that makes you rub your thighs together and then BOOM you have the twist, the what the fuck just happened moment that leaves you breathless.
I cannot wait for Book 2 because I need more Kade and Scarlett – I need to know the rest of their story and find out exactly what the hell happened and how it’s going to play out. I would recommend this story to anyone who loves a good new adult story with a what the fuck twist! Great great great book!

WE have the sweet shy and innocent Scarlett that you will cheer for the entire story, you have the bad boy rocker/actor who you want to lick every square inch of, you have the passion the steamy raw chemistry that makes you rub your thighs together and then BOOM you have the twist, the what the fuck just happened moment that leaves you breathless.
I cannot wait for Book 2 because I need more Kade and Scarlett – I need to know the rest of their story and find out exactly what the hell happened and how it’s going to play out. I would recommend this story to anyone who loves a good new adult story with a what the fuck twist! Great great great book!

Don’t let the title fool you, “Lifeless” by J.M. La Rocca is anything but. Fast-paced and utterly addictive, this story sucked me in from page one. La Rocca has skillfully crafted two amazing leads that I fell hard for. There’s Scarlett, a hard-knock heroine with a heart of gold and a spirit of steel, and Kade, a swoon worthy damaged rock God that will have you breathing heavy while still feeling the need to occasionally shake some sense into him. “Lifeless” is a solid sexy romance with a surprising mystery element that left me eager for more.
“Lifeless” opens with Scarlett ‘Letti’ Moore low on options and out of hope. Life has never been kind to Scarlett. Her dad split when she was seven and her mom’s response was to find solace in booze, drugs, and countless loser boyfriends. The Prince Charming Scarlett took a chance on and gave her virginity to, well he turned out to a major toad, the married with a baby on the way kind of toad. When Scarlett’s long time BFF Jules calls with an offer for a fresh start in Georgia, Scarlett jumps at the chance.
Embracing her new career as Insurance Agent alongside Jules at Entertainment Atlanta, Scarlett gives herself little opportunity for fun let alone the chance to meet someone. That changes when a wild girls night with Jules leads to Scarlett dirty dancing with what she believes is a gorgeous stranger. The only problem is that stranger turns out to be Kade Evans, leader singer of Perfectly Damaged, and their dance was definitely not an accident.
Kade is in town for an acting gig and his history of drug abuse and hard partying requires a baby sitter on set. Research into EA helped him set his sights on Scarlett and Kade is determined that his relationship with her will be a lot more then professional. What I loved is that the characters seemed genuinely interested in knowing and understanding each other outside of a bedroom setting. I appreciated La Rocca giving the characters time to bond and the lunchtime Q&A sessions between Kade and Scarlett are a standout for me. Kade’s upbringing turns out to have been just as rough as Scarlett’s and the bond the two forms adds some sweetness to their relationship.
“Lifeless” does not end with a HEA but a whopper of a cliffhanger. This is one of the rare instances that I found myself not minding a cliffhanger. Scarlett and Kade are great characters and I’m eager to see where their story takes them. Also, La Rocca has created an intriguing universe where even the secondary characters seem worthy of their own off-shoot stories (Jules please).

Oh. My. God. This book was total AMAZEBALLS! Seriously, it was nothing short of fan-fucking-tastic! I had a feeling when I first started reading the teasers on the author’s facebook page that Lifeless was going to be good, but boy oh boy Author J.M. La Rocca blew me away! You would NEVER know this is a debut novel – the writing is flawless! I was completely enthralled with the story line, plot, and characters! I read this baby in just under 5 hours and I am not even sure I stopped for a bathroom break – it was that damn good!
Okay so what’s the story about….Hmm, well Scarlett is left heartbroken and hurting when she finds out her boyfriend Trey is actually married – I know CRAZY right?!?! Yeah he was a douchebag! Well she goes out with her bestie, Jules for a night on the town and has a run-in with HOT SEXY ROCKER, Kade Evans. The man known for never spending more than one night with a woman! Of course she doesn’t know who he is at the time. Oh dear lord that scene when they are literally dry-humping on the dance floor is SMOKING HOT! *I may have been panting a little* Okay so one things leads to another and she is left VERY HOT and BOTHERED! Now, fast forward to Monday morning…..dear old Scarlett finds out hot sexy rocker boy Kade Evans is her new client! Say what?!?! Oh and things just heat up from there! But Kade has secrets and those secrets could destroy him and Scarlett!

One night at the club and she's grinding all over a hot guy. Come Monday morning, said hot guy is her new client! Meet Kade, sexy lead singer turned actor. He has a history of drug use, so her job is to basically babysit him and make sure he stays clean and doesn't fuck up filming. He doesn't fuck up filming, he just fucks Scarlett.
Kade is all about miss Scarlett. He totally woos her and they hit it off. When they hit the sheets.. those fuckers are on fire! He's a sexy ass beast who aims to please his lady. And Scarlett is welcoming it all! Lol.
They were fun to read but then the switch happened where the mystery and suspense came into the story . There's a guy Bryce who she learns isn't who she thought he was. Kade is really Nick?? And nick has a background that s not too favorable.
Yep, it ends in a cliffy. But it's not that bad.

I was able to read some reviews from readers who received an advanced copy of the book and knew going in that it was a cliffhanger. Still, I know there is so much more to learn but I’m happy that I read this book. Actually, more than happy. I love these characters and LaRocca has a wonderful storytelling ability. She let the reader get to know Scarlett and what makes her tick, but I LOVE her best friend Jules.
Kade, oh! what can I say. He’s hot and beneath all the Rock Star personality he’s really sweet. Kade is broken, he has a wall built around him and he has a past. We don’t know all the details about his past (I’m not telling what I know) and let me tell you, I wasn’t expecting what I read. I’ll tell you that I was drawn to Bryce. Um, yep. He’s hot too and I definitely hope there is more of him in the next book.

Jeez, what a ride this was, I really wasn't expecting to 'live' this book!
I cannot give this anything less than 5 stars. This has all the best ingredients to make for a grade A page turner. So many questions were floating in my head, I knew as I was plowing through it wasn't going to be an easy ride and that's what made me love it all the more.
I wanted to grab Kade and kiss the bejesus outta him and then just like Scarlett I wanted to slap him so hard! And what's with Bryce? Jeez throw another hunk into the mix. But let's not forget Paul either, oooh that guy needs a complete smack down and Jess oh my heavens I was so proud of Jules and what she did to Jess, I'd been itching to do that for ages! This is what is so good about this book, it's evokes reactions from the readers, you simply can't just plod your way through this book you are living it.
Loved it and can't wait to read book 2 but I am hoping beyond hope it concludes as I don't think my little ole heart can take it going into a third (I haven't read the blurb on it yet so I'm in the dark!)

Oh.My.Lord.... This book had my attention from the moment I read the first syllable. I ignored the cliffhanger warnings and plowed through this book like I was starving. You need to read this book, like yesterday. Book 2 needs to get with the program. I am in need!

Before I get into my song & dance about Lifeless I will admit that I KNEW by the end of the first chapter this was a book that I wanted added to my collection of Rock Star Romances ~ yes I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion but I PURCHASED this cause it is a MUST read to me and frankly it had me totally....
Scarlett has just found out her boyfriend, Trey, of five months is MARRIED ~ Believe me the way she found out was downright AWFUL and it had me wanting to totally....
the jerk-offs arse. Seriously, total DOG so she decides to take up her BFF Jule's long standing offer to move to Atlanta~ Scarlett takes the leap and just five short month's later things get REALLY interesting ~ A night out at a new A List night club leads to Scarlett's first glimpse of Kade and oh man, oh boy, oh hot ~ I would've..

Oh dear sweet baby Jesus where do I begin? Um I could begin with this was one seriously kick ass book, or I could begin with WTF did JM give us to read and why did she wait so long to give it to us, or I could even just begin from the very beginning because this is defiantly a book yall don’t want to miss. So here goes nothin’.
Let me start with the characters. Okay so we have Scarlett, sweet, cute, and shy Scarlett. She is a character you can’t help but like because she is sweet to the very core but when she gets all riled up she lets her inner bitch come out and it is so much fun to read. Scarlett didn’t have the best childhood growing up and after leaving Alabama to move in with her best friend Jules in Atlanta her life changes some for the good some for the not so good but changes none the less.
Kade, holy wet panties there is a God and he created us some Kade! Troubled rock n’ roll bad boy finds himself in Atlanta to show the world his acting ability by staring in a movie and with any troubled rock star/movie star the director needs insurance and they call on Atlanta Entertainment to provide that Insurance just in case Kade can’t keep himself clean during filming.
Scarlett meet Kade. Kade meet Scarlett…..

He is a great lover always making sure to give Scarlett exactly what she wants and when she wants it.

I love when I read stories that seem to be going exactly how I think they should and then the author throws in a whopper and completely takes me off guard. JM puts it all in Lifeless. WE have the sweet shy and innocent Scarlett that you will cheer for the entire story, you have the bad boy rocker/actor who you want to lick every square inch of, you have the passion the steamy raw chemistry that makes you rub your thighs together and then BOOM you have the twist, the what the fuck just happened moment that leaves you breathless.
I cannot wait for Book 2 because I need more Kade and Scarlett – I need to know the rest of their story and find out exactly what the hell happened and how it’s going to play out. I would recommend this story to anyone who loves a good new adult story with a what the fuck twist! Great great great book!
Let me start with the characters. Okay so we have Scarlett, sweet, cute, and shy Scarlett. She is a character you can’t help but like because she is sweet to the very core but when she gets all riled up she lets her inner bitch come out and it is so much fun to read. Scarlett didn’t have the best childhood growing up and after leaving Alabama to move in with her best friend Jules in Atlanta her life changes some for the good some for the not so good but changes none the less.
Kade, holy wet panties there is a God and he created us some Kade! Troubled rock n’ roll bad boy finds himself in Atlanta to show the world his acting ability by staring in a movie and with any troubled rock star/movie star the director needs insurance and they call on Atlanta Entertainment to provide that Insurance just in case Kade can’t keep himself clean during filming.

Kade is mysterious and sexy. Not only a rock star but movie star who knows how to work it. He is sex personified and I want to lick every inch of him. Kade left me with my tongue hanging out and goose bumps all over my skin. He is your very own troubled bad boy that you want to tame and fix and keep him chained up to your bed to have fun with whenever you want. He is a great lover always making sure to give Scarlett exactly what she wants and when she wants it.
“Please, Kade, I need��” I panted.
“What do you need, Scarlett? Tell me.” He licked up my folds and flicked my clit with his tongue, but moved away before I could grind in his face again.
“I…need to…come,” I panted, “now.”
I looked up at him, and he was watching me as he flicked my clit again. I could see the sparkle in his eyes. He liked this game.

Amazing debut novel! Ms. LaRocca does not disappoint with this passionate and heartbreaking novel! Not knowing what to expect from this first-time author, I purchased this novel from it’s intriguing premise.
Scarlett Moore finds herself on vacation with her boyfriend. What she doesn’t know is that his life is not what it seems. And, will she ever be able to trust him again? I think not! So, she up and moves from her hometown in Alabama to best-friend, Jules’ current residence of Atlanta, Georgia. While new to Atlanta, she becomes employed by Jules’ entertainment insurance company, Entertainment Atlanta.
Kade Evans is the lead singer of Perfectly Damaged. He’s a “Rock God”, but he’s not really who he says he is. Secrets are lurking in his past that are just waiting to be exposed. But, Scarlett doesn’t know that. When they first meet at a club where Scarlett has had her signature tequila and Coors Light while dancing her ass off with Jules, Kane is sitting in the VIP section of the club. Scarlett doesn’t know who he is, but he’s hot, and he must be somebody important since he’s sitting in that section of the club. He grabs her from behind while she’s on the dancefloor, and “My God”, he smells so good and has the sexiest voice ever! This starts the beginning of a highly intense relationship. Scarlett becomes his “safequard” to his account during his first acting gig playing a minor character in a major motion picture. She’s totally attracted to the guy, but he has a reputation, and it’s not a good one. But, wow! He’s so hot! And, sexy! And, beautiful! And, what does he want with someone like her? He’s a “Rock God”, and she’s, well, she’s just Scarlett.
These two main characters were magical together. The chemistry? Well it was off-the-charts! The sex? Mind-blowing. Scintillating. Amazing. Provocative. But, the secrets? Well, they were deep. They were so unsuspecting. Who would ever believe the skeletons that were dangling around in Kade’s closet?
The author did an outstanding job showing the attraction between the two. The build up of the climax was riveting. I just knew that it would be something big. But, not as big as what transpired within the last few pages of the novel. I was surprised, though, how Kade just abandoned Scarlett and their relationship. Was he just being an ass – running with his tail between his legs? Or, was he protecting her from his violent past that could prove to have harsh ramifications if he would pursue their affair?
Scarlett’s best friend, Jules, was a hoot! She was one of those kinds of people that didn’t care what anyone thought, but if one was friends with her, it was for life. She was protective, but yet loved to have fun. She definitely voiced her opinion, but she was loyal and supportive. It would be nice to see her have her own book. Will boyfriend, Brent, and her take their relationship beyond the playful level or will she meet someone else who “cottons to her fancy”?
A very compassionately romantic moment that was tearful...

The opening is as explosive as the rest of the pages. J.M. La Rocca didn't waste any time or any pages of the book.
I don't think Lifeless is an apt title because this novel is everything but lifeless. It's hot, sensual, intense and sexy. I couldn't put it down if I wanted to. Kade was so consuming, like Scarlett, I was instantly drawn to him. I wanted to know him more. I wanted to know what his secrets are. I want him!!!!
Scarlett wanted to make something of herself. So she worked her ass off during her college days and her love life wasn't really a priority. After graduating from the university - her supposedly getaway with her boyfriend was ruined when she discovered that her boyfriend is married and his wife is with a child. Feeling heartbroken she decided to go to Atlanta where her best friend Jules live. She got a job as an entertainment insurance agent with the help of her friend. She wasn't really happy about her job but it was better than nothing. She wanted to focus on work, have a little fun but having a relationship wasn't really on her agenda. Until she met Kade. He's the newest client in the company Scarlett is working for. He's a rock star turned actor who is not only using drugs but a womanizer. He doesn't date the same girl twice. Her heart wasn't safe - but you could not really tell your heart whom to fall, right?
No matter how much Scarlett wanted to make their relationship platonic and strictly business, she couldn't help but to be drawn to Kade when he took his time in wooing her - wholesome lunch, flowers, the whole shebang BUT sex. Talk about anticipation. The moment they did - their world (including mine) rocked. #totallyepic!
But Kade is more than just your ordinary rock star. Not just because of his past, but has a lot of secret, and one of them could make her life at risk. He wouldn't even tell what they are. But once she knew, will she be able to handle it? Or would it be wise for her to just walk away?
I had a grand time reading Lifeless, more than just the steamy scenes, it had me laughing, swooning, and on the edge with the twists, but I am left wanting for more and eager to know Kade's secret.

Lifeless by J.M. LaRocca
I don't tend to read books with a cliffhanger, but I am so glad that I did!! I would have hated missing out on this book!!!
This book starts off with Scarelett Moore finding out that her boyfriend of 5 months has a wife and a baby on the way. her long time best friend Jules ( LOVE HER!! ) talks her into moving in with her and gets her a job working where she works as an entertainment insurance agent. ( totally kool job ) She then get the sexy, smokin hot, and totally swoon worthy Kade Evans as her client. That's where everything in her life changes.
Scarlett... I really love her! <3 She isn't like all the other female character's out there right now. She is real life. She is a normal girl and deals with all the things that head her way instead of sweeping it under the rug or chewing it like gum then sticking it in her hair only to have to have it get even more messy then it should have been. I love that even though, yes she had a hard upbringing she doesn't let that stop her. She really was a breath of fresh air!
Kade... Oh Oh My Kade! Total Swooning here I am!! Loved me some Kade!! What is not to love about a Rock Star turned Actor, Tall, Dark, Sexy, voice to make you fall in love, Sweet and Thoughtful but at the same time Arrogant, Confident, and FULL of SECRETS!
I love how J.M. has Scarelett and Kade get to know each other before they take things to the next level. Oh but Holy Hotness Batman!!! when things heated up between them... oh boy did they!! the scenes where written well and didn't have me flipping past to skip it like some do. I had to stay with it cuz it was HOT! ( I may have needed a cold shower after ) lol
OMG!!!! the last part of the book!!!! I was turning pages as fast as i could and then BAM!!! book over!! I really hate that but... I was soooo not mad about it in this book! yes i can't wait until I can read the next to see what happens ( oh and you can bet as soon as it comes out I am Totally getting it!! ) But I have to say I really like how it ended. It just really worked with this book. Yes you have a ton of questions but i really don't think anyone will care cuz it was done so well!!
I also have to say I loved the secondary characters too. I could totally see myself hanging out with Jules! She is totally Awesomesauce!!! lol I would love to read a spin off book about her! ( wink* wink* cough* cough*)

This story reminded me of a police report or statement. We spent a lot of time in the mind of Scarlett and conversations were few and unnecessary all at the same time. When there were conversations, they were of little to no importance and the things we should have spent time discussing were never touched.
I felt no connection between the characters, especially where it mattered, with Kade and Scarlett. Their back stories and relationship were not believable at all. I will give them the first sex scene, as it was hot and got you going. I felt like this story kept going to dead ends and had no identity or direction. The emotions are flat, the relationships are speculative and the amount of time spent talking with or about Jess could have actually been used to create some passion or connection with Kade and Scarlett.
Scarlett's a confusing character. I didn't hate her, but I never connect with her either. Actually, she didn't connect with others in this story either. I spent half the time embarrassed for her and the other half wondering what she is doing or what she will do. Have to say though, she ain't predictable!
I don't really know Kade as a character, even with receiving his POV. He was like the rest of the story, flat and vague. The times he was present in this novel were few and far between, that lead me to believe that maybe he wasn't the love interest after all.
Scarlett falls in "love" and it was hinted that Kade might have whispered the words, but I honestly feel that by the end of this novel, everyone forgot, Kade and Scarlett included. There was too much and too little tears. I just couldn't get a balance with this story. The make-up regimen was too much. I believe that when a book can take half a page to describe getting ready, then it definitely has too many pages on it's hands!
I like Jules. She's a real down for the count friend. Jess is like a pinata space holder. Even when the girl ain't around they are talking about her. My point is, the petty things were overly elaborated while we kept waiting for the main story to kick up some steam.
At around 80% of this novel though, I did sit up and take notice as I felt a little hidden story begin. But then it fell again and before we know it, we are getting a two POV cliffhanger ending. I have to say that they are interesting enough endings for me to want to know what is going to happen.
To sum it all up, this book lacked passion, emotion and identity. There was a standard undercurrent of anxiety with the amount of uncertainty floating around, but the story line was weakly developed and the connections just didn't do it for me. I hope we get a lot more action, passion and conversations from the next book.

Scarlett Moore had a hard life growing up - her father left when she was young and her mother turned to drugs and alcohol. Because of her childhood, she grew up thinking she was worthless.
After having her heart broken, she decides to move to Atlanta with her best friend Jules, where she gets a job as an Entertainment Insurance Agent. It's not her dream job but when the chance to start over comes up, she grabs it.
Part of her job means meeting an array of famous clients, and while she's become accustomed to dealing with them, she was completely unprepared for Kade Evans. She had no idea that a one time encounter would lead to more than she thought possible.
Kade Evans is a hotter-than-hell rock star with an arrogant attitude and demanding presence. The first time he lays eyes on Scarlett, he's drawn in by her gorgeous body and decides to stop at nothing to get her.
Their relationship starts off somewhat innocently, even thought the chemistry between them is explosive, but they eventually give into their cravings for each other and share a night of lust, passion and explosive sex that leaves Scarlett feeling vulnerable. Her feelings for Kade run deeper than she would've liked and soon finds herself falling in love with him.
When she suspects him of using drugs, things soon spiral out of control as she learns that Kade has deep, dark secrets of his own and isn't who he claims to be. Their feelings for each other are tested when Kade is given an ultimatum and Scarlett finds herself unable to deal with his choice.
What I liked about Scarlett is her spirit and willingness to keep going even when things get tough. She is very relatable as a character and it is impossible not to feel endeared to her in some way. Her life story isn't uncommon, but she makes the choice to rise above her past and be better. With the help of her best friend Jules, she picks up the pieces of a past she can't change and discovers her own inner strength and capacity to love without fear or restraint.
Kade on the other hand is a troubled and broody rock star with a past of his own that still has him imprisoned. He hides his feelings well, and manages to keep his secrets hidden, until Scarlett breaks his walls down. She gets too close to him and soon her life is in danger, unless he can gather the courage to let go of the only woman he has ever loved. He is forced to decide between keeping Scarlett or walking away to protect her.
J.M LaRocca did a great job for her debut novel and I am looking forward to seeing Scarlett and Kade's story continue :)

I literally could not put this book down!! Other than doing progress updates on Goodreads... I never even bookmarked this book!! I was stunned by 10% into Lifeless and was engrossed by 16%... I didn't eat, talk, or get up out of my comfy chair until I saw 100% on my Kindle. Then I sat there with my mouth gaped open staring at the screen and loudly screamed... "WHAT?!?!?!" This is a MUST read and ASAP!!
Scarlett Moore has just graduated from college with honors, thinks she has found the love of her life, and wonders what her future holds. On a romantic getaway with her boyfriend of 5 months, she learns through a text message that he is married with a baby on the way!! DOUCHE!! She moves to Atlanta with the insistence of her best friend, Jules, and starts a new job and enjoying the single life. I automatically felt three strong emotions: 1. I LOATHED Trent 2. I fell for Scarlett myself... shy, composed, but uber sexy intelligent woman, and 3. I want Jules to be my real life BFF... she is HILARIOUS!!
Scarlett goes out for a night on the town with her BFF Jules and they quickly get their drink on. Scarlett is enjoying herself when she notices a man in the corner of the VIP room. They have a stare down and before she knows it, she is dirty dancing like a feign on the dance floor. After they part ways and she thinks this was just a one time deal, she finds out her mystery man was Kade Evans, lead singer and rock god!
Kade Evans... I don't know if I can even put into words how sexy this man is! He oozes sex from his every pore... his picture should be in the dictionary beside the definition for stud. He is an Alpha male, intense, fits the tall/dark/and handsome role, and like I said... SEXY as hell!! The chemistry between Kade and Scarlett could ignite a room... some of their love scenes definitely made me blush... which is not an easy feat!
Problem is Kade has history for abusing drugs, alcohol, and women... not physically... but a love them and leave them type. On a questionnaire he actually marked unknown for how many sexual partners h had.... SERIOUSLY!! He also has a secret that may interfere with a relationship. Kade has to decide not if he wants Scarlett or not, but can he want Scarlett??? Their relationship had me laughing, crying, and smoking... my insides were melting from the hotness that was Kade!
I easily give Lifeless a solid 5 stars on the knock my socks off scale!! This book instantly flew to my top faves... and I highly suggest you read it... NOW!!! Kade Evans is not the only hot stuff in this book, but is by far the winner of my inner squeal!!

I'm still on the fence with the rating on this one because all of the problems I have with book will probably be solved since it is a series. I reserve the right to change after book 2 LOL! Stuff I had a problem with: I felt like the relationship progressed very fast. The author fast forwarded the relationship a month without really showing any of it which is ok but since the relationship is heavily based on sex, I feel like an actual relationship should be more established in order to save it from becoming more erotica than romance. Overall it felt very rushed, I kept watching my progress on the Kindle and getting anxious when I saw how far I had gotten and nothing was resolved. This is a compliment to the author for sure. Also I didn't know it was a series when I read it so I've calmed down now lmao.
Other than that, I am really intrigued by the mystery surrounding Kade. He's pretty much the typical bad boy rocker with major issues, but I think what sets him apart is the stuff surrounding who he really is and his past. He throws a lot of bullshit around and what I really love about it is that Scarlett doesn't take any of his shit. This story could have gone in another direction if Scarlett wasn't such a strong presence. She's not a weak willed milksop that when faced with an alpha male completely bends to his every demand. She stands up to him and calls him out on his shit.
Jules is a solid best friend. I feel like authors are making the best friends crazier (read-slutty) and more outspoken with every book written because they need to be the ying to the heroine's conservative/virginal/studious/whatever yang. But Jules was a perfect balance of outrageous and intelligent woman. She had fun when the time called for it, but was also there for Scarlett when the shit hit the fan. I'm actually really interested in her story line with Brent as well! Looking forward to more of her in the next installment!
There's a lot going on in this book, but it never really gets overwhelming and the author gives you just enough teasing about who Kade really is to make you flip through the pages. All in all a very solid read. The fact that it is a series saves this from a lower score. There is a cliffhanger FYI, but its not one that has me gasping and chucking my Kindle across the room. If you like rocker romance with a realistic heroine and mystery than yes I recommend it. If you are trying to avoid series than obviously avoid it.

This book was great! It has an awesome storyline that keeps you intrigued the whole way through and although it ends with a cliffhanger I definitely recommend it!
The main character Scarlett is one of the most relatable female characters that I have read in that she deals with everything thrown at her in a way that most women would. She comes off as your everyday woman which is refreshing to read. She is friendly, intelligent, beautiful and strong which endeared me to her.
After finding out her boyfriend is married with a child on the way, she moves in with her best friend Jules. Jules is what a best friend should be; supportive, hilarious, and always knows the right thing to say. I really enjoyed Scarlett and Jules conversations as they were definitely entertaining! Jules gets Scarlett a job with her at Entertainment Atlanta where she meets rock star Kade Evans.
Kade....what to say other than the obvious sex on a stick! Holy hotness! I loved Kade and he has definitely been added to my never ending list of book boyfriends :) He oozes sex and confidence, but there is also a slight vulnerability to him and of course some mystery that just makes him more attractive (if that's possible).
The ending! Ahhhhhh! I didn't see that last 10% of the book coming. I was reading like a maniac trying to figure out what was going to happen and then it ended :( After finishing the book, I have some unanswered questions that I cant wait to have resolved in book 2!
This was a great debut read and I am definitely looking forward to more of J.M.'s work :)

Let me start off by saying this isn't your typical troubled girl/troubled guy story where the problems are in the past and now they just have to cope and grow from their experiences. Nope, in this novel the problems from the past never really went away & have followed them into adulthood and continue to wreak havoc. This is one story where I am NOT rooting for the bad boy. I honestly think he's too much trouble and way too dangerous to be worth it. I mean we're talking about some serious law breaking, life threatening shadyness going on here. Sure Kade's super sexy, I mean he's a rock star for goodness sake!! He's passionate & a total alpha male, what woman doesn't want him?! I just think Scarlett needs to steer clear of this one for her own well being.
I enjoyed Ms. La Rocca's writing style and thought the story flowed nicely. The beginning seemed a bit rushed but I think it works b/c you get right into the meaty part of the story a lot quicker. The characters were well developed and real enough to resemble your average person. There are quite a few twists & turns that I honestly didn't see coming, so kudos to Ms. La Rocca for invoking the element of surprise which most books tend to lack. Lifeless differs from the other NA novels out there, its a bit more intense and Kade's background is darker & more dangerous than other "bad boys."
All in all, I loved it and can't wait for the next book!

LIFELESS is an enjoyable and cute story of sparks flying when a regular girl meets a famous musician.
Scarlett leaves Alabama for a fresh start in Georgia after she finds out her boyfriend is actually married with a child on the way. Her best friend, and now roommate, Jules, gets her a job and saves her from becoming a homebody.
On one of their girls’ nights out, Scarlett shares an extremely intense dance with a gorgeous stranger, only to find out that he’s Kade Evans, the lead singer of a famous rock band. What’s more—Scarlett’s company is insuring him while he acts in a movie filming in Atlanta and Kade requests that Scarlett be in charge of his account.
I enjoyed the chemistry between Kade and Scarlett and the fast-paced, fun storyline. It kept me entertained and engaged. I did think the characters seemed a bit flat and at times I found the storyline predictable and unrealistic, but I’m still hoping Scarlett and Kade can open up and find their happily ever after in MY BEAUTIFUL.

I absolutely loved this book! Tattooed, bad boy alpha male hero? Check! Smart and strong heroin? Check! I loved Kade and Scarlett separately and I loved them even more together. Life hasn't been easy on Scarlett and after discovering that her boyfriend is married, she moves to Atlanta to start over. Only when she gets there, she is knocked off her feet by rock star Kade. Their chemistry is intense and so very hot, I couldn't get enough of it.
Be warned: this book ends with a few twists that I did not see coming and yes, there is a mega cliffhanger. But I usually expect their to be in a series. I cannot wait for book 2 to come out, I need some more Kade!
