Puzzle Piece Cover Reveal: Five Ways to Fall by K.A. Tucker

Five Ways to Fall is the next book in the Ten Tiny Breaths series from K.A. Tucker and today we get to share with you one piece of the cover puzzle.  Across the coming days more pieces will be revealed, with the final revelation of the entire cover happening on K.A.'s site on 5 February.  You can access the Puzzle Piece Cover Reveal schedule at the bottom of this post, which will let you visit other blogs participating in the reveal to see what cover piece they were able to share.

Sometimes you can’t change—and sometimes you just don’t want to. Discover Ben’s side of the story in this fourth novel by the beloved, top-selling indie author of Ten Tiny Breaths, One Tiny Lie, and Four Seconds to Lose.

Purple-haired, sharp-tongued Reese MacKay knows all about making the wrong choice; she’s made plenty of them in her twenty-odd-years. So when her impulsive, short-lived marriage ends in heartbreak, she decides it’s time for a change. She moves to Miami with the intention of hitting reset on her irresponsible life, and she does quite well…aside from an epically humiliating one-night stand in Cancun with a hot blond bouncer named Ben. Thank God she can get on a plane and leave that mistake behind her.

Football scholarship and frat parties with hot chicks? Part of charmer Ben Morris’s plan. Blown knee that kills any hope of a professional football career? So not part of the plan. Luckily Ben has brains to go with his knockout looks and magnetism. After three long years of balancing law school with his job as a bouncer at Penny’s Palace, he’s ready to lead a more mature life—until his first day of work, when he finds himself in the office of that crazy, hot chick he met in Cancun. The one he hasn’t stopped thinking about.

If Ben truly were a smart guy, he’d stay clear of Reese. She’s the boss’s stepdaughter and it’s been made very clear that office romances are grounds for dismissal. Plus, rumor has it she’s trouble. The only problem is, he likes trouble, especially when it’s so good-looking…

Born in small-town Ontario, Kathleen published her first book at the age of six with the help of her elementary school librarian and a box of crayons. She is a voracious reader and the farthest thing from a genre-snob, loving everything from High Fantasy to Chick Lit. Kathleen currently resides in a quaint small town outside of Toronto with her husband, two beautiful girls, and an exhausting brood of four-legged creatures.

Release Day Blitz: More With You by Kaylee Ryan

Congratulations Kaylee Ryan on the release of More With You, the much anticipated follow up to Anywhere With You.  This time we get Aiden and Hailey's story, and it's pretty fabulous.  If you loved Anywhere With You you won't want to miss this.

Title: More With You (With You #2) Author: Kaylee RyanRelease Date: February 1st Genre: Contemporary RomanceHosted by: Love Between the Sheets Promotions

More With You is book two of the With You Series. This is Aiden and Hailey's story.

Hailey MacCoy has had a crush on Aiden since the day she met him. Over time that crush has intensified. Hailey feels she has to keep her feelings hidden due to his friendship with her brother. She struggles with the fact that Aiden only sees her as his best friends little sister.

Aiden Emerson is lusting after his best friends little sister. Hailey is all of a sudden grown up and Aiden can’t stop thinking about her. She has become an important part of his life over the last year. The thought of losing her is just not an option for him.

They find themselves thrown together and surrounded by wedding planning and events. Filling the roles of Maid of Honor and Best Man for their siblings. Hailey and Aiden are battling their hearts desire. Fighting against what they think they can’t have.

Can Aiden and Hailey resist temptation? Can they open their hearts for more?

Hailey’s POV

Allison decides she wants to take a nap, so she and Liam go to their room. I am too comfortable to move. I am curled up on the couch. It’s a rainy day, so there is not much else to do. Once I’m awake, it’s hard for me to go back to sleep no matter how tired I am. I’m weird like that.

Aiden comes into the living room and I automatically lift my legs, inviting him to sit with me on the couch. I keep reminding myself that we are friends and we have done this exact thing a thousand times. He takes a seat on the opposite end of the couch and I rest my legs on his lap.

“We watching a movie?” he asks me.

“Yeah, but you can pick,” I tell him, tossing him the remote. Aiden grins and starts flipping through the channels. My head is turned towards the television, but my eyes are trained on Aiden. He is gorgeous. His brown hair is messy. I can tell he just ran his fingers through it after his shower this morning. I love his thick locks. My fingers itch to touch him. To run my fingers through his hair.

Aiden settles on the Lifetime Movie Network. I smile. He knows me so well.

“For me?” I ask and bat my eyelashes.

Aiden just smiles and winks. He picks up my left foot and begins to massage it. This is new; he’s never done this before. Friends can give friends a foot massage, right?

I lie there with his hands on my feet, working their magic. I’m trying to concentrate on the movie, but I can’t. I close my eyes to try to calm my racing heart. I focus on taking in deep even breaths. I feel my body relax and I start to drift off to sleep.

I slowly wake up and open my eyes. I see that the television is muted and the house is quiet. I lift my head and I see that Aiden is still at his end of the couch. He’s awake and he’s watching me.

“Hey. Sorry I fell asleep on you,” I say my voice raspy. I could really use something to drink.

As if he can read my mind, Aiden leans over, plucks a bottle of water from the coffee table, and hands it to me.

“Thanks,” I say, taking it from him and chugging half of it. Much better.

“How was the movie?” I ask, my voice now back to normal.

Aiden shrugs his shoulders. “I’m not sure, I didn’t finish it,” he says.

“I glance at the television and see that it is, indeed, still on.” I look back at Aiden and raise my eyebrows in question.

“You looked so peaceful, I didn’t want it to wake you up.” He shrugs. “I know you didn’t get a lot of sleep last night and needed to rest.”

“So…uh…what did you do?” I ask. I’m not sure how to take his last statement. Do friends just do that? Do they go out of their way to make sure the other gets rested after a drunken night? He’s in the same spot as when I fell asleep. Did he…did he watch me?

Aiden’s face flushes slightly. “I watched you,” he says softly.

He watched me! I open my mouth to respond, and no words will come out. I’m stunned speechless. I open and close my mouth again, still nothing. I know I look like a damn fish right now, which is totally embarrassing, but… Holy Shit! Aiden watched me sleep for, what, like an hour?

“You could have moved. I probably wouldn’t have woken up,” I tell him.

“Yeah, that really wasn’t an option for me. Why would I want to move, when I can be close to my angel when she’s sleeping?” he asks.

Release Blitz: Wanting Reed by Antoinette Candela

Title: Wanting Reed (Break Me #2)Author: Antoinette CandelaRelease Date: January 31, 2014Genre: Contemporary RomanceHosted by: Love Between the Sheets Promotions

“Love is giving someone the power to destroy you, but trusting them not to.”

How do you live with yourself when you are the reason you lost the one thing that meant the most to you.

Timing is everything and for Reed, he can never seem to catch a break. When Reed returns to Boston to redeem himself he finds that Elle has already moved on, building a new life, a new beginning. He needs her to know that he meant every word before he left, that he never meant to leave her. Will he ever get that chance to tell her?

How do you love again when the one person who made you feel like you were his whole world left you with a broken heart? Hoping that life and new friends could keep her memories and feelings for Reed at bay, Elle chases life and all that it has to offer until she is confronted with heartbreak again.

Is time and space enough to get past losing your once in a lifetime or will Elle be always Wanting Reed?

“Ugh,” Tommy moans. "I can’t wait to get the credit card bill.”

“Relax, baby. It wasn’t all for me. I picked you up some goodies, too.”

“Don’t scare me. Last time you bought me khakis."

“No clothes this time. Just toys.” She winks, brandishing a bag from Condom World.

“All right, TMI.” I cringe. The last thing I want to hear about is what Tommy and Juju do in the bedroom. Elle laughs.

“I may have picked up a little something from there. For us,” Elle murmurs, running her hands over the muscles of my arms. “I can always take everything back.”

“God, doll.” I smile and shake my head as she runs her hands down the front of my shirt and pulls on the belt loop of my jeans until our hips touch. I can feel her breath quicken. “This teasing has got to stop, or I’m gonna have to take you right here.” I eye her up and down, summoning every ounce of willpower not to throw her over my shoulder and take her to the bathroom. “Can you at least tell me what you bought?” She shakes her head, exhales and runs her tongue along my bottom lip.

“And where’s the fun in that?” she replies in a shaky breath.

"Looks like you two need to be alone.” Juju wiggles her eyebrows and throws herself on Tommy.

"No more shopping trips. This is it. The rest of the time we'll be hanging out together until you guys leave next week,” I say, inhaling the sweet smell of her hair.

“How about we play some pool?” Juju chirps.

"All the tables are taken,” I groan, mentally wincing that my chance to get Elle home early is slipping out of my fingers. I frown when Tommy snatches a table from a couple of guys finishing up. I'm starting to think that Tommy hates me.

“Why are you frowning, baby?" Elle asks. You don't wanna play pool with me?" Her intense gaze causes my dick to twitch.

“I think I’d rather play with you in bed," I growl into her ear as I tug playfully on her hair.

"I’ve got a better idea." I see her brow crinkle, and I know she’s thinking about me as she chews on her bottom lip.

“I'm listening," I reply, hopeful as I run my teeth over my bottom lip.

“If you win, you choose whatever it is you want from me.”

"Anything?" My mind goes wild thinking about her in nothing but red lace. I may need to pick up those cuffs she’s made reference to before we go home. I don’t doubt her skills at pool. Shit. I have never seen her play, and I’m pretty good. Either way, win or lose, I'm going to come out on top.

"And if I lose?" I say, quirking an eyebrow in amusement.

"I make you my sexual slave," she whispers with a distractively sexy half-smile on her lips.

I think my dick just ripped a hole in my boxers and is ready to burst my zipper. Fuck winning. I'm losing.

"Let's go."

********

We've been playing pool for about thirty minutes, and Elle is horrible. I have to top her shitty pool skills by being equally horrible. I want to lose. I'm curious about her whole slave idea. We haven’t been together that long, and it makes me wonder if she's got this super kinky side. She grins at me and then leans over the table, eyeing me seductively.

"What’s your next move?” I chuckle, observing her trying to handle the stick. I want her to handle mine instead. She walks around the table, twirling her hair and trying to get the best angle for the shot, sometimes purposely putting her sweet ass within my reach. I'm no dummy. I smack it every time she offers it. “You really aren’t good at pool, are you?” I grin, admiring her ass in her tight jeans.

"Stop it, Reed." She pouts, struggling with the stick.

"You want me to help you, baby?” Rising from my stool before she can answer, I stand behind her as she's bent over the table. Her scent envelops me as I nuzzle my nose in her hair. "I like you in this position," I growl, nibbling her ear as I tug her hair.

"Are you guys playing pool or making a porno?” Tommy laughs from the table with Juju looking on with a smirk on her face.

"Sounds like fun, don’t ‘cha think?" Elle peeks over her shoulder. Her eyes twinkle devilishly. "You're losing on purpose." She laughs.

"The way I see it, I win either way.”

God, the fact that I am back here with her now makes me the luckiest fucking man alive.

"I can't get a good angle to get a shot in." She frowns, turning her attention to the table.

"I know a lot of good angles." I cock an eyebrow at her and grab her waist. This constant touching is torturing me. I need a release really soon. This game is dragging.

"How about we make this the last shot? If you make it, I lose. I’m your slave. If you don't make it, I’m still your slave."

"You're really curious about this whole slave thing I have planned, aren't you?" she teases, cocking her head to one side as she winds her hair around her finger.

I nod my head adamantly. "Hell yeah, between you mentioning the cuffs and this, I think there’s plenty I still don’t know about you that I’m eager to discover.”

"Be careful what you wish for," she says, flirting shamelessly with me.

"Fuck, doll, I'm gonna love whatever it is you have planned. Just take the shot so we can get outta here."

Antoinette Candela is a little shy with a larger than life personality. Suffering from Peter Pan syndrome, she refuses to grow up. New Cover Reveal: Beautiful Failure by Mariah Cole

Mariah Cole has given Beautiful Failure a face lift and we get to share the new look with you today!  What do you think??

Title: Beautiful FailureAuthor: Mariah ColeRelease: December 16, 2013

If you're looking for a heartwarming story about a girl who falls deeply in love with a troubled boy who changes her life--a sob story with pretty metaphors and a million ways that'll tell you how "broken" she is, STOP. Don't read another word of this.

I'm not that type of girl.

My name is Emerald Anderson and I'm not going to bullshit you: I flunked out of college after my sophomore year, I've been fired from every job I've ever taken, and I've never had a fully functioning relationship in my life.

I wish I could say that I had a cheerleader in my corner, someone who says, "No, Emerald--You're great and you are good at something!" but I don't. My grandparents are completely oblivious to my life, and my mother's dying words to me were "You're going to end up just like me one day. A beautiful nothing."

She was right.

As I decide to start my life over and take two jobs that will forever change me--one from the inside, and one from the outside, I keep my mother's words close to my heart so I can keep the sexy and mysterious Carter Black away.

He's the first man who's ever pursued me, the first man who seems bent on finding out why I am the way I am, but he's wasting his time.

I'm not broken. I don't need to be fixed. I'm perfectly fine being a beautiful failure...

My mother was a whore. Her name was Leah Isabelle Anderson—“Leah Belle” for short, and she was one of New Jersey’s most sought after escorts. With deep green eyes that could take any man’s breath away, and skin so porcelain and smooth that it looked too perfect to touch, she was breathtakingly beautiful. Often compared to a supermodel, her raven black hair fell past her shoulders, and her naturally long eyelashes were always coifed to perfection.  Growing up, I had no idea what she did with the men who picked her up in their shiny and expensive cars—the men who wore thousand dollar suits and patted me on the head while saying, “Your mom is really somethingspecial.” In a way, these strangers became the closest thing I had to a family since I never knew my father: Her regulars, Christian and William, sent me gifts every Christmas. Arnie bought me my first bike, Steve taught me how to change a tire, and her most ruthless suitor—Vincent, took me shopping for designer clothes once a month. Leah Belle—she never ever let me call her “mom,” wasn’t exactly a mother to me; she was more like an older friend. An older ‘I’ll-be-there-when-it’s-convenient’ friend. She missed every elementary school play, every middle school writing competition, and never gave a damn about my grades. At first, the involuntary loneliness bothered me, but after I created an army of invisible friends and easily accessible fantasies, I came to terms with her neglect and happily accepted any attention she was willing to give me. When I became a teenager, she started to hang around me more often—promising that she would do better, promising that she would make sure that “from here on out, [we’d] be best friends.” Since she’d run away from her parents after having me at sixteen, she made a point to never lecture or discipline me. She did however, teach me three very important lessons:1.) “Always put tons of effort into the way you look. You need to be beautiful on the outside, no matter how fucked up you are on the inside. If you ever feel sad or depressed, suck that shit up and add more mascara.”2.) “Don’t make friends. Make sponsors. If you can’t get anything out of someone or use them for a specific purpose, kick that person out of your life ASAP.”3.) “Beauty wins over brains every time. Your body will always be your most important asset. Remember that.”For my fourteenth birthday, she poured me my first shot and offered me a short line of coke, saying, “Welcome to life, Em!”I shook my head at the coke—I’d read about the effects, but I happily took the red shot glass from her hand.  “To the best fuckin’ daughter in the world!” She lifted her glass in the air, waiting for me to do the same, and then she ordered me to toss it back. The initial burning sensation was painful—disgusting, but in the years to come, that bitterness tasted better and better, and I looked forward to the two of us drinking together. It was the only time that she gave me her undivided attention. In those moments, I would tell her about another writing competition I’d won or how I’d received more early college scholarships. When it was her turn, she would tell me about “turning tricks” like other parents told their kids about a day at the office.“I can’t tell you how weak Ben’s dick was today,” she’d say. “I mean, I feel like I should be charging him double for the weak ass fucks he puts me through.”“You don’t enjoy it with him? Ever?” I’d ask. “No. Never with him. But he’s a sponsor, I’m getting his money, and that’s all that matters. I just lie there, scratch his back, and say ‘HarderHarder’ to make him think I’m into it until—”“Until he cums?”“Yep.” She’d pass me a cigarette before sighing. “With him and a few others, I usually have to take a few shots beforehand to numb my mind. With the really good ones, all I have to do is relax. Sex can be fucking incredible when it’s done right…”One particular Friday, after she let one of her regulars take me shopping for a Chanel bag, I unlocked the door to our home and saw droplets of blood all over the floor. “Leah?” I set my shopping bag down. “Did you get another nose bleed?”No answer. I headed into the kitchen, looking for her usual remedies—hot tea and Q tips, but she wasn’t there. “You here?” I walked around our living room and checked all the rooms upstairs. Confused, I pulled out my cell phone and called her. No answer again.I shrugged and opened a bottle of vodka, tossing back a few shots. I figured she’d left with one of her sponsors for a quickie and would be back by the time our favorite show started.I decided to take a shower before it came on and headed into the downstairs bathroom. The second I hit the lights, my heart fell out of my chest. I wanted to believe that what I was seeing was simply a sick joke by my imagination—a twisted fantasy I’d snap out of in seconds.Pale and blue, Leah’s body lay lifeless in our tub. Her left arm was dangling over the edge, and the small velvet bag where she kept her cocaine was dangling from her fingertips. Scattered across the floor were hundreds of prescription pills and empty orange bottles that bore the names of strangers. On the vanity, there was an empty syringe and a folded note that read “For my Em…”Trembling, I rushed to her side and pressed my finger against her neck, hoping for a pulse.Nothing. I tilted her head back and tried to breathe life into her—pressing her chest with my hands every few seconds, but it was no use. She was gone.I sank down to the floor in tears—cursing her, hatingher, for doing this to me. To us. I had no friends to call, no family either, so in my numb and dazed state I somehow managed to call 9-1-1. While the operator attempted to calm me down by asking me to take deep breaths, I walked over to the vanity and unfolded Leah’s last note:
Em,I know you’re confused right now, but I want you to know that I love you. I love you so fucking much… You were the only thing that made my life worth living, and I wish I was strong enough to keep that in mind…I’m not.I’m tired of living a lie and I haven’t been happy in a very long time… I just can’t take it anymore…I’ve fucked up a lot of things in my life, but the biggest regret I have is the way I raised you…I’m so sorry… This is going to be hard for you to believe—especially since I’m gone, but I need you to forget all that shit I taught you. Right now.Fuck using your looks to get what you want. Go to college and do some good shit with your life, like write or something. You’re a good writer, you’re very smart, and you need to use your brain to get ahead. Can you promise to do that for me, Em?Then again…It’s probably too late and I’m willing to bet that you’ll end up just like me: A beautiful nothing…It won’t be your fault though. It’ll be—
I stopped reading and flushed that note down the toilet. Her last words were clearly written out of sadness and they were only compounding my pain.  As far as I was concerned, Leah had raised me the best she could and she was far from a “beautiful nothing” in my eyes. In fact, I cherished every single thing she’d taught me.Even though I was beyond hurt that she’d selfishly left me all alone, I was determined to remember her at her best and for everything she was to me: My mother. My best friend.

BEFORE YOU by Jenna Bennett
BOOK SUMMARY:
It’s all fun and games

I had a simple plan for spring break.

Sun, sand, and a hot guy. Sex on the beach, with no strings attached.

A chance to get rid of this pesky virginity once and for all.

And when I met Tyler McKenna, I thought I had it made.

Until someone gets hurt

But then girls started turning up at Key West landmarks. Girls who looked like me, but with one crucial difference: They’d all been drugged and relieved of their virginity.

The virginity I still have. The virginity Ty refuses to take.

And now I’ve begun to wonder whether there isn’t more to him than meets the eye.

Suddenly, sex on the beach doesn’t sound so good anymore...

BETWEEN US by Jen McLaughlin BOOK SUMMARY:
I’m just a girl…
I’m a famous country star who’s spent her life cultivating a good girl persona to avoid bad press, but I’ve reached my limit. I’m going away for spring break with my two best friends from college, and we’ve vowed to spend the vacation seeking out fun in the sun—along with some hot, no-strings-attached sex. The only thing I needed was the perfect guy, and then I met Austin Murphy. He might be totally wrong for me, but the tattooed bad boy is hard to resist. When I’m in his arms, everything just feels right.

And I’m just a guy…
I’m just a bartender who lives in Key West, stuck in an endless cycle of boredom. But then Mackenzie Forbes, America’s Sweetheart herself, comes up to me and looks at me with those bright green eyes…and everything changes. She acts like she’s just a normal girl and I’m just a normal guy, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. My past isn’t pretty, you know. I did what I had to do to survive, and she’d run if she learned the truth about my darkness. But with her, I’m finally realizing what it’s like to be alive. To laugh, live, and be happy.

All good things must come to an end...

BEYOND ME by Jennifer Probst
BOOK SUMMARY:
CAN FUN IN THE SUN TURN INTO LASTING LOVE?
Spring break in Key West with my besties was supposed to be casual fun. But I never expected to meet James Hunt. Sex and frolic? Yes! A relationship? No. But his hot blue eyes and confident manner drew me in. And when he let me see the man behind the mask, I fell hard, foolishly believing there could be a future for us. Of course I never considered our relationship might be based on lies...or that his betrayal could rock my foundation and make me question everything I believed in...

OR WILL A LIFE BUILT ON LIES RUIN EVERYTHING?
The moment I saw Quinn I knew I had to have her. She hooked me with her cool eyes and don’t touch me attitude. I had it all, money, social status, and looks. I could get any girl I wanted...until her. When my friends challenged me with a bet to get her into bed by the end of the week, I couldn’t pass it up. But sex wasn’t supposed to turn into love. She wasn’t supposed to change me, push me, and make me want more for myself. She wasn’t supposed to wreck me in all ways. And now, if I can’t turn my lies into truth, I just might lose her forever...

Release Day Book Blast: Compromising Positions by Mary Whitney

Title: Compromising PositionsAuthor: Mary WhitneyGenre: Women’s FictionPublication Date: January 28, 2014Cover Design: R. Doyle from Literati Author Services, Inc.Event Organized by: Literati Author Services, Inc.

We weren’t supposed to be friends. We weren’t even supposed to like each other.

I’m Michael Grath. I’ll admit I was elected to Congress on my Republican family history. I was out to make a name for myself, until I met Jessie Clark, a spitfire Democrat.

She’d be my nemesis, if I could just stop thinking about her. We’ve got nothing and everything in common, and one big issue that divides us. All of this is going to land us in more than one compromising position.

And like I said, we weren’t supposed to be friends, we weren’t even supposed to like each other, and we certainly weren’t supposed to fall in love.

Even before she graduated from law school, Mary Whitney knew she wasn’t cut out to be a real lawyer. Drawn to politics, she’s spent her career as an organizer, lobbyist, and nonprofit executive. Nothing piques her interest more than a good political scandal or romance, and when she stumbled upon writing, she put the two together. A born Midwesterner, naturalized Texan, and transient resident of Washington, D.C., Mary now lives in Northern California with her two daughters and real lawyer husband.

Book Blitz: A Beautiful Mess by T.K. Leigh

What happens when you lose everyone that promised they would always be there for you? How can you protect the few pieces of your shattered heart that remain?

Olivia Adler is a woman with a troubled past. After losing her parents at the young age of six and being raised by an uncle who she lost years later, she refuses to get attached to anyone, including friends. For the past decade, she has been able to remain unattached to any man, too worried about losing someone to get too close. Until Alexander Burnham walks into her life one night and changes everything. But he has issues of his own. And he’s keeping a secret that could change everything. Will Olivia let Alexander in enough for him to get close and protect her from a force threatening her very existence, or will she push him away, scared of letting Alexander in, in order to protect her heart?

A Beautiful Mess is the first installment of a three part series sure to captivate the heart with a story of secrets, courage, and love.

Olivia eyed Alexander as she tasted the delicious wine. “So, Antonio seems excited that you’re here with me. Any reason for that?”

Alexander placed his wine glass on the table and grabbed Olivia’s hand. “To be honest, it seems we have a little something in common, Miss Adler. I don’t really do the relationship thing either. I like to fuck and leave all those emotional attachments out of it. I’ve certainly never taken a woman out like this before, apart from the obligatory charity functions I am expected to be at.”

Olivia looked down, not wanting to hear what he was going to say next. She actually enjoyed spending time with Alexander and for once wanted more than just an occasional hook-up, but it sounded as though that was all he was interested in. But why the Red Sox game? Why the wine and dine? And why didn’t he make his move at Beer Works when Olivia made it rather clear that she wanted him to kiss her?

Alexander continued speaking, breaking her away from her growing unsettled emotions. “But, there’s just something about you, Olivia. You make me want to break all my rules. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I’m beginning to not care.”

Butterflies erupted in Olivia’s stomach at his words. She felt the same way. Looking up, she smiled as she met Alexander’s eyes. “That doesn’t mean that I still don’t want to fuck you senseless, Miss Adler,” he winked as the waiter arrived to take their order, leaving Olivia completely shocked.

When she’s not planted in front of her computer, writing away, she can be found running and training for her next marathon (of which she’s run over 15 fulls and too many halfs to count), or trying to convince her husband that it’s time to give yoga another try. Unlike Olivia, the main character from her debut novel, "A Beautiful Mess," she has yet to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Release Day: Lean On Me (Take My Hand #3) by Nicola Haken

Title: Lean on Me (A Take My Hand Novel)Author: Nicola HakenSeries: Take My Hand, #3Genre: New Adult
Release Date: January 27, 2014
Hosted by: Book Enthusiast Promotions

Rachel Mason oozes confidence. She’s outgoing, adventurous and would chop off her right arm before caring what other people think of her or her disability.

Right?

Jared Mattheson on the other hand, is more than a little goofy and a whole lot of carefree. He’s happy living the bachelor life on his father’s credit card, takes nothing seriously and wouldn’t know difficulty if it slapped him in the face.

Right?

With Emily and Dexter away in the States, Rachel and Jared are left behind to keep each other company. They share the same sense of fun, their personalities bounce off one another perfectly and perhaps inevitably, they become best friends. But what happens when the lines of friendship start to blur? How will they cope when the sides of themselves they’ve kept hidden from the world for so long begin to show?

Their journey together may have started with fun, games and alcohol – but it seems the future has other ideas.

Turns out, even the strongest of people need someone to lean on sometimes.

After draining the cup, I began my journey through the maze of tables, chairs and caffeine addicts towards the exit. The queue for the counter was backed up though so I ended up waiting in line, hoping it would go down quickly so I could escape. Now, you’d think it’d be hard to miss someone in a big square chair with two giant wheels on either side of their arse wouldn’t you? Well you’d be wrong. Honestly, the amount of people who carry on about their business as if I’m invisible is unbelievable.

Take the guy standing in front of me in the queue. He reached into the back of his pants, adjusted his underwear and then started scratching his arse. Now you’ve gotta remember, when you’re in a permanent sitting down position, that means your eyes are butt level with everyone else. As usual, I just looked away and let him and his itch enjoy their special moment together.

Until I heard the nauseating sound of his fingernails grazing his arse hair…

“Want me to help you out with that seeing as I’m down here?”

I’ve never seen anything move so fast as when he whipped his hand from his pants. Think Edward Cullen on amphetamines. However, unlike my favourite vampire, there was nothing pale about this man. I swear you could’ve fried eggs on his cheeks when he turned around and saw me.

Mission accomplished.

Either from impatience or embarrassment, the man with the itchy arse weaved his way out of the queue and left, making room for me to get past in the process.

Other books in the 'Take My Hand' Series Book #1 - Take My Hand

Twenty-four year old Dexter Michaels has arrived in the UK for a fresh start - leaving everything and everyone he knows behind in the states. Determined to put right some of the wrongs he’ll never be able to forgive himself for making and make his Aunt Sarah – the only person left who still believes in him - proud, he lands in London with the intention of working hard, getting his degree and keeping himself to himself. He can’t destroy anybody else that way…

His heart and his body have other ideas however when he finds himself sitting next to nineteen year old Emily Barton in his Psychology class. Moving down south to find her own New Life, Emily is shy, smart and beautiful – everything Dexter knows he should stay away from… everything he knows would be too easy for him to break.

But she makes him feel things he’d forgotten even existed. She makes him laugh, smile, care… forget. Without her trying, and without him realizing, Emily has wound her way into the one place he swore to keep locked away forever – his heart. But can she stay there when she discovers the dark past he’s so determined to keep hidden from her? Or will he destroy her too, just like he always expected?

Book #2 - Hold on Tight

A figure from Dexter’s past has uprooted all the memories he has tried so desperately to bury… to forget. The terrible events of his past have been blown wide open once again, immersing him a pool of guilt deeper than he’s even experienced before.

Dexter feels powerless. The future he foolishly allowed himself to conceive is falling apart around him and there’s nothing he can do about it. But there’s one thing he can control – one thing he’s an expert at… blocking everything out. Losing all control, Dexter copes the only way he knows how – he dives so far into the well of addiction, the only thing that matters anymore is where his next fix is coming from.

Mission accomplished – there’s no one left. He’s successfully pushed everyone away. Nobody left to care about means no more guilt, right? You can’t hurt people who aren’t there…

But has he really pushed Emily as far away as he thinks he has? She’s given up everything for him – her home, her friends… her whole life. And she doesn’t regret a single thing. But can she save him from drowning, or has he finally sunk too far?
