Descendants #70: Gold and Glory (CynQuest Part 1) Chp. 4

This entry is part 20 of 20 in the series CurrentWillow loped back up the hill with a sureness of footing that would bring a deer to shame. She bolted through the opening in the wall and to her horse, a look of mixed determination and panic in her eyes. “Close the wall back up!” Already,s he was swinging up into her saddle. Picking up on its mistress’s emotions, the horse danced sideways and snorted unhappily. “We need to get out the gates before we lose her!”

And then she was off, though with...

Ship of Fools

[Excuse the title, I'm not insulting shippers, I just couldn't resist that title]

Fandoms are a subject that we are only just starting to delve as an anthropological and psychological construct, but they’ve been around since the first instance in which two Cro-Magnons or homo habilis had an opinion on the same non-survival related thing.

They have always been there with us, and we might be tempted to believe that only in this age of information where people from around the world can come togeth...

Rune Breaker: Chapter 39 – Following Flames

The artificial divinity spark is expressing in sixty percent of the test animals, but seems inert. Analysis of discarnate energy fluctuations shows that they are miniature conduits to the power of the Well of Souls, but they are incapable of using it.

I expected this. A sapient mind is needed to control such awesome power. The Emperor seems to agree. Experimentation on sapient subjects has been approved. To minimize damage to more valuable beings, the initial tests will be conducted on ang’hai...

Descendants #70: Gold and Glory (CynQuest Part 1) Chp. 3

This entry is part 19 of 19 in the series CurrentIt was actually fifteen minutes past the first bell of afternoon when Christina finally finished her packing. This after enlisting her husband and the twins to help load an unhappy mule with unruly heaps of tools and scraps. She insisted that every ounce of it had a chance of proving crucial to the success of the mission, something Cyn was quick to balk at.

“We’re off to capture and probably smash a Neo-Device, not equip every man in Liedecker’s...

The Vaal City Lexicon

So it turns out I’m not going to do a Part 2 of last week’s article, Superman: Triumphant. Yes, I know it is yet another abandoned Part 1, but let me lay out my reasons and see if you agree:

First, while I am perfectly fine with dedicating a week’s blogging to my knee-jerk reactions to things, I feel I need to draw the line at two. True, a lot of these posts are built around my pet peeves and things that genuinely make me angry, but I feel like spending two weeks avenging spoilers for a movie...

SIMaS Chapter 9 – The Megardian Royal Family

This entry is part 9 of 9 in the series So I Married a Supervillain“You have to try the tea. It’s really very good.” said Chloe, who had no idea what made tea good, but did know what sort of things should be said at a proper tea party. She spoke with the affected prim and proper enunciation common to children trying to imitate fake rich people on television.

“Oh is it?” Amanda copied the affectation perfectly, having had plenty of practice raising both her children, “Well if it’s that good, I...

All of Volume 6 up to One Week are now collected into single issues.

Also, a reader pointed out that there was a problem with the miniseries listings in the Back Issues section and I’ve fixed those too.

Descendants #70: Gold and Glory (CynQuest Part 1) Chp 2

This entry is part 18 of 18 in the series Current“Don’t don’t think I follow you.” Willow said, knuckling her head as she tried to work out Cyn’s logic. The Princess had told her about how the group they were assembling would be like a group from an adventure ballad, but exactly how that might be was lost to her.

They were heading down the spiral stair of Castle Freeland’s south tower, intent on reaching the rear yard.

Cyn rolled her eyes if only because her companion seemed to be trying to put...

Superman: Triumphant (Part 1)

This week’s post was going to be about shipping and how understanding it can help writing. However, the reviews are coming in for the new Superman movie, Man of Steel and the things I’ve been hearing prompted me to post about that instead.

Now, seeing as it will have only been in theaters a week by the time I write this, there will be no spoilers. What I will say is, based on the buzz, I will be waiting to catch this film on DVD instead of paying to see it on the big screen because… it doesn’t...

Descendants: LA #22 – Wolverine Publicity (Part 4)

This entry is part 10 of 10 in the series Descendants: LA Volume 2Icthiani looked sidelong at Alloy. “You cannot simply pound this creature into submission.”

He shifted the hammer in his hands, but didn’t move out of his defensive stance. “You know what it is then?”

“I cannot tell the exact type, but it is an elemental locus; related to demons, but with lesser powers and intellects. They are little more than animals even if they are thinking things. Where a demon possesses flesh and draws power...
