The Descendants #72: Turmoil Returns Chp. 1

This entry is part 30 of 29 in the series CurrentMayfield’s Chamber of Commerce never ran out of new ideas to drive tourism, attract businesses, or just plain squeeze just a few more dollars out of any given person who might possibly set foot in their town. And as they only had two more months left in 2076, America’s Tricentennial and the best excuse for gratuitous festivals, salutes and city holidays, they were growing increasingly esoteric in their attempts.

Somewhere between the First Annua...

CynQuest: Yellow Fallout

This entry is part 29 of 29 in the series CurrentAfter hours of explaining everything to Laurel and then to Alexis and Ian, I finally managed to slink off to the hall bathroom.

Except for showers, I usually don’t have much use for bathrooms, but after spending two days fighting an alternate me for control of her body, watching versions of my friends possibly dying by being trapped in crystal, fighting something that was a tiny god on par with Mad-Mad Madigan that was planning to break reality...

Rune Breaker: Chapter 41 – Along the Passage of Conquerors

This entry is part 14 of 14 in the series The Path of Destruction (Rune Breaker, #3)‘Something I did not expect is how I’ve come to understand ang-hailene over the course of this trial. Aside from the unfortunate coloration of wings and hair, I have often found myself wondering as to what defect among them justifies their status. They run the same gamut of mental acuity, physical capability and emotional capacity as any of us.

I have watched them fret over their health, mourn those who died, a...

Descendants #71: Yellow (CynQuest Part 2) Chp 6

This entry is part 28 of 28 in the series CurrentThere wasn’t anyone or anything to actually face off against, so Cyn just tilted her gaze generally upward and adopted a fighting stance. She tried to extrude the orihalcite claws she kept hidden in her arms, but found nothing. Her stance faltered, but she forced herself back into stable footing.

“A proposal? Well I’ve got a proposal for you, asshole. I propose that you’ve got two choices: give my friends back, or show yourself so I can beat on...

The Slow Burn

I’ve mentioned before my new-found fandom for Atop the Fourth Wall . When it comes to comics, I agree with the host, Linkara, on a lot of things, particular a disdain for 90′s style darker and edgier stuff. Recently, he began a month long foray into The Culling , a crossover between Teen Titans , Legion Lost , and Superboy in DC’s New 52 universe.

You can see the episodes yourself starting here, but this post is about something he touched on only briefly: This crossover, billed as ‘shaking up’ (co...

SIMaS Chapter 11 – The Morning Report

This entry is part 11 of 11 in the series So I Married a SupervillainWhen he was awakened by knocking, Link was tempted to believe that the previous few days had been one long, incredibly surreal dream.

It wouldn’t have been the first time he’d dreamt of days passing in a single night. And it also wouldn’t have been the first time his strange and misfiring subconscious had put Amanda in a strange role either. Except those dreams usually involved sex, and he was thus far disappointed in his min...

Descendants #71: Yellow (CynQuest Part 2) Chp 5

This entry is part 27 of 27 in the series CurrentThe protection spell moved with Lisa, so when she started toward the cavernous opening in the base of the tower, everyone else was forced to as well. Cyn had to be pulled along by Wil to get her going.

“Cyn.” a strong voice roused her and she found that Duke Smythe had come back to walk with them while Duchess Keyes was speaking quietly with Warrick and Christina, the pair she expected to come try and comfort her. She merely looked at him, sayin...

Paths Not Taken

I’ve revealed a number of times on this blog that the creative process is nowhere near as neat and tidy as it appears. Nothing springs forth fully formed out of its creator’s head unless its Athena. No, for all the grace and beauty that the swan of enjoyable stories exudes, she’s doing a lot of work under the water.

You’ve likely read about how Juniper was meant to be a robot clone in mockery of Marvel pulling the same thing , or how Tink was meant to be a temporary love interest, or how Callie...

Descendants: LA #24 – Wolverine Publicity (Part 6)

This entry is part 12 of 12 in the series Descendants: LA Volume 2Felix gaped at Icthiani for a moment. They’d never come up against a Faerie creature they couldn’t send back before, so her explanation, that it was now ‘acclimated’ to Earth, didn’t make a lick of sense to him. “Um… how?”

“The same way as my brother and I have: by living here long enough.” She replied. “But that doesn’t make any sense…”

“Watch out!” A narrow band of green telekinetic force caught both of them by their midsection...
