Liedecker Institute: Sophomore Year #1 – Rags to Rags Part 1

This entry is part 1 of 1 in the series Liedecker Institue Volume 4In any other city, it might have been strange. In any other city, it might have triggered a wave of calls to the police. In any other city the less stable might have taken it as a sign of the Apocalypse (albeit a more modern one than the Book of Revelation).

In Mayfield, however, all that resulted were a few internet videos with titles like ‘The Grim Reaper Trade in His Pale Horse’ or some such. Only in Mayfield was seeing a fi...

The Descendants #72: Turmoil Returns Chp. 6

This entry is part 35 of 35 in the series CurrentChaos lifted his chin to keep his Adam’s apple clear of the blade at his throat. There was a chance that Slicer might have to saw a bit to get through the ballistic cloth, but then again, her blade might part it was easily as his flesh, so he decided not to risk it just yet.

“Hey bro!” He called to keep Issac from shouting his real name in panic at his situation. “Good bluff. Bad timing, seeing as I almost had this lady talked down, but good blu...

What’s Wrong with Villains Month?

I don’t even really need an intro here. You all knew this was coming. I’ve been grumbling about it and referencing it all month and the time has finally come for me to take on DC’s Villains Month .

Now, I apologize for all the kvetching leading up to this one. In a month of posts that were meant to be a positive celebration, I spent an inordinate amount of time complaining about the work of some other guys. But you’ve got to understand that:

this came directly on the heels of DC’s previous casca...

The Spider’s Seven #24 – The Execution Part 2

This entry is part 23 of 23 in the series The Spider's SevenJerry Galloway stood in the middle of his room, back straight. Dr. Mueller told him that it was a necessary part of his therapy and that he should just ‘breath through’ the discomfort it caused. Jerry didn’t know how any of what Dr. Mueller did would stop the dreams or make his powers go away, but he was a doctor, so he had to know what he was doing.

Mueller was circling him slowly, listening as Jerry recalled his latest dream; the la...

The Descendants #72: Turmoil Returns Chp. 5

This entry is part 34 of 34 in the series CurrentSlicer.

Chaos tried to keep the incredulity off his face at hearing his opponent’s name. Back when they were at the Academy, Laurel always made fun of his and Alexis’s choices of ‘Chaos’ and ‘Darkness’ respectively, to the point that they barely used them. That turned out to be a blessing, as no one seemed to make the connection of the hastily chosen codenames to them. Still, his ‘I want to be a bay boy’ choice of ‘Chaos’ sounded like a stroke o...

The Top 20 Moments of the Extended DU (5-1)

Here it is, folks, the final installment of this year’s Top 20. Yes, it’s coming out in October, but I had to take up the first blog of this month to publish the Aftermath issue of CynQuest , seeing as we were already three months into that storyline.

It’s also going to mark the end of my self-imposed ‘only constructive blogs posts’ period. Considering my traditional Halloween post is dedicated to bitching to Hollywood about using the same boring-ass monsters all the time, so where September wa...

Rune Breaker: Chapter 42 – The Soul Battery

This entry is part 15 of 15 in the series The Path of Destruction (Rune Breaker, #3)

‘We agreed to allow the surrogates to raise the children they brought to term in order to maximize socialization and promote healthy mental development.

Unfortunately, the surrogate for the sixth child died of infection despite our best efforts. The staff has been taking turns caring for her, but these children need a stable parental figure. I have decided to elect myself for the task because she has endeared h...

The Descendants #72: Turmoil Returns Chp. 4

This entry is part 33 of 33 in the series Current“Uncle Hans, someone’s here to see you!” The girl shouted over the sounds of various machines working. And given how heavy-duty some of those machines were, it seemed that she had lung capacity proportionate to her strength. Chaos and Turmoil followed behind in her wake as she led them past a counter near the door where a rather buff man in a yellow spandex shirt was waiting with a sales pitch for new visitors and to another, larger glass count...
