collage monday

another background started from my paper table covering. added the big "ART" stickers and the flowers are american crafts stickers (again circa who knows when). added drops of paint , some lines of color, some paint themed stamps (paintbrushes sm & lg and paint tube) and quote stamp.

the black alphabet in the top left was the negative of a stencil i just happened to press to the page and it has become my favorite part!

inspiration wednesday + video

"whimsical trees"

working on a new series i am calling "whimsical trees"
i have been playing around in photoshop with the layout of the finished pieces and after about an hour of rearranging them in photoshop decided i definitely needed to paint another piece. (note to self: go buy an 11 x 14 canvas)

one of my goals for 2013 is to create a series of art that incorporated my word for 2013, "achieve". the trees represent growth, strength, natural progression and sustainability.

collage monday

ok i figured out a new trick this week! i have literally dozens of those making memories tiny alphas...if you place the stickers face down and gently peel off the paper backing, you are left with just the stickers. then by pressing the grid of stickers down to the page you can randomly add the stickers in clusters to the background of your page. that may or may not have made sense but trust me it is mind blowing, lol! (but i am easily amused).

Dina Wakley retreat in the NEW STUDIO!!!

DINA WAKLEY is coming to the STUDIO!!!

i just think dina is amazing! she is free-spirited, FUN, incredibly talented and learning from her is like sitting down to create with your best friend you have know forever.

i learned so much about techniques just watching her in action at the studio and i promised myself i would sit down with her this time and LEARN to draw faces. (i secretly covet that skill of hers)
