encaustic effects with GOLDEN acrylics

saw this video posted by GOLDEN the other day and really found it quite enlightening.

i love learning new tricks and ways to explore the products i love and use all the time.

i always see encaustic art on pinterest that draws my eye but do not have the encaustic "stuff" to achieve the result...this is great to know!

this goes on the list of techniques to try!

i love the way this collage turned out...the color, the texture, the obsessive use of rub-ons! i also embedded some fabric alphabet stickers from Prima into the background. still determined to see the bottom of these stashes (maybe that should be my goal for 2013!)

inspiration wednesday + video

some days i think, "ugh, stupid inspiration wednesday! maybe i should just skip this week." then i remember that if i only show the "happy place!" pages and the pages i love that it would really not be a true account of my journey as an artist.

so today i bring you the crappy day side of inspiration wednesday! :)

used up most of the letters now its time to use up the numbers!

this collage was mostly made from the bits of scrap left on my table from the projects before it.
the background is one of those large sheets of patterned paper from Paper Source

this page just makes me feel good..a good ole collaged mess of happy!
